I've wanted to come back here for years and never managed it. It really did not disappoint. It's a real wee time machine that reminds me of being a wean on holiday in the 1970's. If it wasn't for being able to pay by card you'd think you'd stepped back into another era. Two perfect milkshakes in a wonderful piece of history that hasn't changed in decades. It's not some hipster attempt at being retro, it's the real deal and absolutely perfect. Please don't ever change!

We visited Millport for the day and after a nice visit we saw this lovely wee cafe that reminded me of a 80s dinner. Reading the dessert menu the milkshakes sounded great. Under milkshake it said in the menu, choose any chocolate bar it can be put into your milkshake. So I asked how this can be done and was told either the chocolate can be blended or heated up. Which i says ok heat it up and I also asked to put whipped cream on top. What was served to me was basically 2 wee Reece’s Cups in a bowl with a squirt of skooshy cream😯. Ok cmon 😂 £5 Reece’s cups cost £1.25 everyone knows this. It’s slowly dawned on me this is a secret idea the Ritz has came up with to heat up bars of chocolate served with cream or ice cream. Fine aslong as it’s like what it says and it’s a BAR of chocolate not 2 wee daft cups that have been heated under the armpits of the waitress. Why would you even tell anyone you can heat up the bars of chocolate anyway. Just keep that to yourself. We had a good laugh at our expense. Maybe get heated maltesers next time 😂

Having visited Millport annually for many years, I was so very disappointed to find that the Ritz Cafe is now pricing itself out of use...... Went in on hot day for an ice cream, Could not believe the price. Came to nearly £7 for 1 average cone of plain ice cream - no sprinkles or extras!! and a wafer... That's extortionate. To charge these prices is just suicide. The cafe itself is ok, eaten at tables before and it is an old, dated cafe, trying to hang on to some kind of charm of formica tables and no-nonsense menus but it still needs to be economical. Far too expensive. We will not be back,, I expect many others will be the same.

Before ordering I checked with staff that they could cater for my child’s nut allergy for an ice cream and that there was no danger of cross contamination. 10 min after ordering lunches and ice creams I was informed by another staff member that in-fact scoops shared water jugs and therefore cross contamination was possible. Unfortunately there was no alternative options or other sealed frozen desert options on offer. Whilst I was very relieved that this was brought to my attention, i feel establishments these days should be more able to accommodate dietary/health conditions and at very least staff should be better informed when asked before ordering. Unfortunately trying to explain this situation to an excited 5 year old was just not possible and we left shortly after receiving our food with him not touching a single bit of his lunch and having a bit of a meltdown. A disappointing and completely avoidable experience.

We popped in here for a takeaway for lunch as we had the dogs with us and there's not any dog friendly cafes on Millport unfortunately. We ordered a toastie, chips n cheese and chips n curry but the curry sauce was leaking all over the rest of the food when we opened them, Tbh there was more curry sauce than chips in the box, the toastie was nice but the cheese of the chips tasted a little strange, we didn't like it. Not worth the money and not as enjoyable as we had hoped for unfortunately.

The cafe was empty when we arrived. Several staff standing around chatting. No one approached us to take our order so we assumed we had to go the counter to order. Just as we stood up to go to the counter a waitress came to the table to ask what we wanted. She was quite pleasant and we ordered scones, tea and coffee. £5.60 for a scone, butter & jam and tea for one. A bit steep compared with other places we have visited. Was shocked when we asked where the toilets were to be told there were NO TOILETS on the premises ! I always understood premises serving food had to provide toilets and hand washing facilities for customers. Especially in times like this as paying customers may want to wash their hands before eating. We were told to go to the Garrison a five minute walk along the road to use the toilets there. I wish we had gone to the Garrison first instead of the Pitz as the cafe looked so much nicer and had good clean toilets and pleasant welcoming staff. If you are elderly or have children avoid the Ritz at all costs.

This is the worst place I have ever semi eaten in.The reason I say semi eaten in is because my egg in the bacon and egg roll was RAW. There is NO toilet available not even for the elderly or disabled which is diabolical to say the least.Very little choice on the menu apart from filled rolls. We could not understand how other people were eating a full breakfast when nothing was on the menu or mentioned when our order was taken. When I went to pay for the disgusting food I was asked if everything was ok and I replied unfortunately Not but there was more response from the seagull outside. Sadly, the Ritz relies on a reputation earned many moons ago. We had the fish teas and they were absolutely terrible: a small piece of battered frozen almost tasteless white fish (probably a left-over from Bejam back in the day), barely warm frozen chips and bullet-hard "famous" peas. At least the mug of tea helped take the taste away. A waste of money and not worth doing. The cafe itself is tired and a hymn to sugar and things that are not good for you. DO NOT GO THERE!

I felt the price was reasonable and the food was really good and higher quality than I expected. The staff were friendly and efficient. I have lost a star in this review as the cafe doesnt allow prams or have a toilet which meant i had to leave my two kids (one of them 11 the other 5) during their meal to take their little sister (2) a good walk to the nearest toilet. No music on even though there was a nice jukebox so place lacked atmosphere. We also sat at window because the other free tables sits 6 and there was only 2 of us and ther is a table right outside the window from us so when we were having lunch it was very uncomfortable as people sitting staring at us.poor payment system as well as tables don't have a number on them so the girl taking our payment got order mixed up, it us very cramped at payment selection as well.would definitely help if tables were numbered and would save time if each table had there own selection of ketchup and vinegar. I thought it was illegal to have an eating place and no toilets. As the weather was freezing cold I didn’t appreciate having to walk over to the public toilets on the pier with my 5 year old grandson. Luckily it wasn’t raining and the baby wasn’t sleeping so we were able to leave the pram outside. The food when it came was underwhelming. The cheese toastie was served with a piece of lettuce, a sliver of tomato and a teaspoon of coleslaw which had a peculiarly fishy taste. The Ritz Café is quite charming inside in an old-fashioned formica-tabled booth-seating sort of way. It does feel like you've stepped back in time when you're inside, but I kinda enjoyed this aspect. The menu is basic and reasonably priced. Admittedly I was a little hesitant to order from the main menu so opted for one of the specials (a Mexican chicken and mozzarella panini with salad, coleslaw and crisps). It was quite tasty and only £3.95. When we were there there was also a constant large queue for their ice cream which seemed to be very popular although we didn't sample it ourselves. To sum it up, service was friendly and efficient, prices were very reasonable, food was basic but good, and the interior was quaint. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that they had no toilet facilities, even though the café is a fairly decent size. (I actually thought this was illegal but who knows). The nearest toilets are at the pier - public toilets which are a few minutes walk across the street.

We called here for lunch because it was a lovely day and there were some tables outside so we could watch the sea front activity. We both had the Scottish all day breakfast which was very good and reasonably priced. If we ever visit the island again we would definitely have lunch there again.

Not the same as it was before, I beleive its been taking over by new owners wasn't the same quality of food as I've had from the ritz in other occasions I have visited but the price was more, it still looks the way it did in the 80's I think it could do with getting freshened up, would avoid and try other places.

Really cool cafe, old style, not only in the decor but the offer of desserts and good old service :) all the staff is very friendly and helpful; the ice-creams, coffees and desserts are delicious and old school, what an experience!! Loved it!!In this day and age of quick lifestyle, it was great to sit back relax an enjoy sweets

Refreshments at the ritz cafe . Interior hasn't changed much but ,I was disappointed at level of sound booming out from the jukebox.I found it loud and annoying so had to sit outside to enjoy my latte. .not my cup of tea!

The quality of the food, like the friendly helpfuness of the staff, are of a standard one would expect in a cafe that regularly returns satisfied customers. After a busy outing on the bike, or a dip in the bay, go home with happy memories of more than just great days out, but also that of wonderful meals to satisfy you and the whole family .
