The Rising Sun in Sheffield

We tried a different Chinese to our usual, and I am so glad we did! The rice was lovely and not dry, nice chips and partner really enjoyed his foo yung. Great price and portion sizes - will deffo order from here again 😊

The food arrived piping hot and was well packed so cannot fault there. However the beef in green pepper in black bean sauce was packed put with chunks of onion and pepper with very very little beef. the sauce was the texture of thick cornflour and really wasn't very nice. Very unlike dishes I have tasted before. the rice was dry and not cooked well. prawn toast ok. Will not be ordering again sadly.

Chow mein was terrible. It was just noodles, veg, meat and then some gravy on it. Terrible. The fried rice was cold and not seen an egg. The whole lot lacked flavour.

Special curry was more like soup, tiny prawns no roast pork and no beef, so how can it be a special curry. Quality going down hill so would be reluctant to order from here again which is a shame as I’ve always enjoyed their food

I ordered a spicy chicken dish, not spicy at all and the chicken was very rubbery, quite poor quality. Partner ordered rice dish and said it was nice. So mixed reviews.

Delivery was fast but the food was not anywhere near as good as it was before, fatty ribs, flavourless food and all round unappetising. Most of it went in the bin. Real shame.

Some dishes better than others, the king prawn dish was poor. Very few prawns, bit gloopy. The duck was OK, but again, not much of the duck. We had to search the mall to confirm it was the duck. Other than that, tofu dish was good, special fried rice was good

Not worth it at all. Food is not tasty at all. It's not Chinese style at all. I would strongly suggest not to order anything from this shop. They don't know how to cook Chinese.

The worst take away so far. I have ordered beef schezuan but the gave me some sweet and hot chilli sauce full of onions, green peas, hardly no beef. The egg fried was awful with burt rice everywhere. When questioned the owner about the food she was disrespectful and was not able to accept their fault. Horrible attitude. Please do not waste your money.

5 minutes late and very apologetic from the nice driver, no need as he had to get through the match traffic. We have 5 Chinese take-aways in walking distance and he must drive past a similar amount. If he wonders why, the food is stunning.

Food tasty, but really very greasy. serious lack of vegetables, (other than the in the squid......where there was a lack of squid), especially in the veggie chow mein. Spent quite a bit of money for not much of the good stuff. I.e meat n veg. Delivery driver on time though and lovely. Did receive complementary bottle of soy sauce. All in all, don't think will order again. Shame

Food was cold, spent a lot of money and no extras. No beef or prawns in any of the special dishes just chicken and pork. Hardly any noodles in the chow mien. Had better from here so not sure what’s happened.

Still an ok meal but just not as fresh and nice as normal. Ordered quite a few times from here but just not as good as normal this time. The prawn curry and beef curry had only a few prawns and not much beef which was a bit of a let down. Overall feel a bit disappointed this was hopefully just a bad day as usually a great takeaway.

Takeaway took a long time. The food was ok but satay not flavourful. I nearly didn’t order as no drinks available. Although they had wrapped the food well it leaked a lot in the packaging they provided. I wouldn’t not recommend the service but with all the choice in the area not sure I would rush to sorry

Food did not taste nice and had odd smell to some of the meats

Not for people who like it spicy! I ordered a spicy chicken dish, and it was just chicken and veggies in a brown gravy. Not one chilli pepper, fresh or dried, or a hint of spice. I thought maybe they had sent the wrong dish, but the name of the dish was handwritten on the packaging. No chillies in the salt and pepper chicken, and a bit stingy on the meat in the special fried rice (and had a very similar sauce to the one that was on the "spicy" chicken). That said the food came quickly and was still hot. All in all, it was okay, but be wary if you want something spicy.

First time ordering as our usual place was closed, did not disappoint, fresh tasty and hot, delivered early and directly delivered from the restaurant, I expect it would have been late and cold if assigned to a just-eat driver, will definitely use Rising Sun again 👍

3rd time we have ordered from here and did not disappoint. Delivered on time, nice and hot. Perfect portion size for 2 people. We usually order a 1/4 duck with pancakes, a curry, a chicken dish, small rice and chips. Always delicious.

Sweet and sour chicken was pretty bad (claggy sauce and chicken not cooked very well). Salt and pepper chips were good.

The worst Chinese I've ever had. The spare ribs were deep fried (not advertised as such), probably to hide how fatty and chewy they were. The curry was tiny and was mostly onions. The chips were made with dried chilli rather than fresh chilli and were quite soggy. The prawn toast was quite dry but at the same time very oily so had probably sat for a while. The rice and the prawn crackers were as expected. For what is quite an expensive Chinese, I was bitterly disappointed.

First time I’ve used this place as Yum Yum was below par last time. Food was good and generous portions. Weren’t keen on the ribs though as there were battered 😬 That said would use this place again.

Usually the food here is lovely. Ribs were inedible- deep fried in a batter - salt and pepper prawns were so greasy I could stomach them.

This is our usual go to Chinese. But tonight's was awful. Ordered prawn balls but was a mish mash of chicken balls, white fish goujons as well as what we ordered prawn balls. I'm vegetarian and didn't expect to be eating chicken. Rice tasted old, hard and dry. Won't be ordering from again

Really love the food here, and the delivery is always quick and friendly. It's our favourite Chinese in Sheffield and we've tried a lot! Shredded Chicken in OK sauce is my latest good find there, yum.

Always order from here. Normally very good and we’re very happy with it. This time however I ordered a duck & mushroom dish that had a strong chemical taste. Maybe the MSG I don’t know but most of it went it in the bin. Food quality and delivery very good otherwise.

I wouldn't normally complain about food coming early, but the whole thing took under 20 mins which left me a little suspicious. The food for me was either very watery or very greasy. It sempt that it had all been quickly reheated and not at all in a Wok. Ribs were dry and heavily battered. Chow mein was very watery and more celery and carrot than anything else. Not for me sorry

Lovely food as always. It used to be our local but we were delighted to find it on Just Eat when we moved away. They do tend to deliver early but in the past, when it was important we didn’t receive the food early, we put it in the notes and they delivered bang on time.

Never before have I ordered a chow mein with chunks of cucumber. There were also carrots and large chunks of mushrooms. I’ve never known them to come in a chow mein....probably a great surprise if you actually like them! Other than that it was cold and the chicken curry was overly spicy. I don’t like to leave a bad review but only ordered as the reviews were so good....which I now feel is very unbalanced.

Massive portions & mostly tasty but the king prawns were a little bit tough (over cooked) hence lower stars. Would still order again from here though.

I have used Rising Sun for quite a few years now I used to collect my food myself as I live close to Rising Sun. But since my disability got worse having my food delivered is the easiest option. The delivery guys are so friendly even through the Covid scare. I will continue to use Rising Sun. Great food lovely people.

The delivery was quick, food was hot, however not to our taste. Starter box was bland and a bit greasy. Black pepper sauce was thick. Fried rice again was bland. Gkad I tried but will not order from here again.

I have ordered from the rising sun several time before and enjoyed it. However, yesterday we pre ordered a meal at 4pm to arrive at 8pm, which arrived over 20 minutes late. We wouldn't have minded, but unfortunately the satay chicken dish was poor. It didn't taste of satay at all, and there was no peanut flavour. Overall this was a bit of a disappointment.
