The Restaurant Hub, Selly Oak in Birmingham

The menus are severely slimmed down and overly expensive. We ordered two meals and they came massively late, at varying times, so we couldn't eat together as a family. 20m wait for a burger and chicken tenders when there were hardly any other customers isn't a great look.

The Restaurant Hub is located inside Sainsburys, on Selly Oak Retail Park. Plenty of free parking is available, and the Restaurant Hub is very accessible. A choice of favourites are available to order, including Harry Ramsdens, Eds Easy Diner, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Slim Chickens, and more, and the dining area has plenty of space, and is comfortable and clean. Today we enjoyed Harry Ramsdens cod, chips , peas, tartare sauce, which was absolutely delicious, and the customer service that we received from 'Pedro' was excellent, and also very much appreciated!

I recently went to Slim Chickens at Sainsburys Selly Oak in Birmingham, and I have to say, the customer service was simply exceptional! From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to make my visit enjoyable. Pedro took the time to explain the menu and offered helpful recommendations, making the experience feel personalized and welcoming. The service was not only fast but attentive. My order was handled efficiently, and Pedro checked in regularly to make sure I had everything I needed. The food was incredible, but the exceptional service truly stood out and made the experience very pleasant.

I went here for Slim Chicken's and it is very easy to find, with the menu presented at the counter too! Chicken Tenders and Fries with sauces were delicious but the chips portions were smaller than usual, less options available here too since it a restaurant hub although service was fast.

Very friendly staff, always make the best food fresh. 100% would recommend. I’m usually served by Shawn, and Shawn is always very lovely and provides the best service.

The environment of this restaurant is extreme good. Fish & chips is very delicious and staff are friendly. It is a great place to visit.

We used to enjoy coming for a meal after our visit to the QE hospital. But today the food was not up to scratch. Not sure we will eat here again. The gent who served us was very good but that was the only positive.

I tried both Slim chickens and Gourmet burgers. The staff was always different every time I came, but the fact that they provided good service remained the same. The view from inside the dining area is also really nice. The food is also served really deliciously. You can order through the kiosk and receive an order number, but it was inconvenient that there was no monitor to indicate when the food was ready, whether table service or self-service. In any case, the staff always brings it to me, so I think the ordering method is a bit dysfunctional. Other than that, the seating, service, and food are all great.

I like it here, the staff are always lovely and the atmosphere is nice, breakfast is good value, but the value of the slim chickens tenders leaves a lot to be desired to say that the chicken is small is an understatement, they are bordering on chicken nugget size

I went when it was really quiet. The staff were polite and lovely, but the food was not good at all! The milkshake and fried pickles were good. But the chips were so cold and the chicken was inedible-so rubbery and had no seasoning/coating on them. I couldn’t eat either. For the price I paid i was so disappointed! £17+ and I had to throw the chicken & chips away. As it was quiet, I’d expect to wait for my food to be made, but would expect it to be hot and fresh.

Being truthful, staff were lovely but the chicken was like eating rubber! Quite disc sting and I would advise keeping well away from ordering chicken. Much better to go over to Nando’s which is where I will be going. Lovely staff but quality of food- nope

Located in Sainsbury's on the 1st floor, access by stairs, lift, and escalator. Though on the occasion I went, the escalator was out of order. A mixture of booths and tables it is very spacious. You have a cafe on one side and Harry Ramsden, Ed' Diner, and Slim chicken. You order and give you a number and bring your food to the table. Drinks are bottomless. The food was great and the service was really good, staff were very friendly. I'd go again

I was undecided on what to get and 2 friendly ladies working here helped me decide on a berry blondie (i recommend this, I like how the sourness of the berry contrasts with the sweetness of the blondie).

It was an unplanned visit as Starbucks and Costa were full. The hub was an excellent alternative. I had the cream tea deal, a hot drink and scone with cream and jam for £4.95 or about the same price as a coffee alone from the other businesses. My friend had a vanilla frappe (£4) from the coffee shop he says it was nice. The staff were attentive and cleared our table readily when we finished. If you are coming here with a laptop or to do some light work then bear in mind there are limited plug sockets and you will need a pair of noise cancelling headphones as there is not much separation between the Sainsburys and the hub.

My son and I visit the restaurant hub regularly. The staff are always friendly but I did want to give a special mention about Linda, her customer service is exceptional and nothing you ask her is too much trouble. She is a real asset to Cafe Carluccios.

Use this facility regularly, good grub, fast service, staff friendly and all-round friendly atmosphere. Managers Shaun, Seph, and Danielle always ready to listen to customers remarks and suggestions. Great team. By

today i went to the restaurant hub and i was greeted by a lovely young man called aaRjun he had amazing customer service and was very fast to get my order done plus the food was 10/10 me annd my family enjoyed our experience.

Due to my mom being in hospital for 9 weeks I have visited almost every lunchtime. I can honestly say that the service has always been exemplary. The staff are friendly and their respect for customers and each other reflects well on the establishment. If I was rich I would buy a restaurant and give it to them to run and own.

Service and Atmosphere don't concern me when I eat out. The only thing that's important is the quality of food and drink. Un fortunately, the food at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen is way below the expected standard, the fries are not freshly cooked and the burger meat is often burned and feels like it has been reheated from an earlier cooking. Both bad practices in my opinion. The fries for SLim chicken are probably from the same bad batch of fries. Although the Chicken wrap was more tolerable than their beef based buddies next door. The true horror show was experienced at Carluccio's however. This was the first time I have binned a coffee. It was scorchingly hot and extremely bitter. This could be because of an uncleaned machine, poor quality beans, incorrect temperature settings on the machine, incorrect bean settings ore all of the above. Either way, it was the worst Latte I have ever been served.

Very helpful staff, even offered discount, fish was very crispy and fresh.

First time Came to Caffe wonderful Friendly Staff Great Atmosphere would definitely go again. Recommend to everyone who haven't experienced it yet.

Ordered 1 meal for the kids and it took about half an hour to come, about 6 families ordered loads of meals before we got ours. Excuse was, depends on what you order. What a joke. Also, the coffee is so overpriced, this is not Costa.

My wife and I stopped for a coffee as it was quiet. We sat by Caffè Carluccio. 2 people behind the counter no other customers but they had no tea spoons so told me I had to go to the other end of the hub to get spoons. I went there and they had no spoons so the guy took me back to the original Caffè. He found me one spoon and said we would need to share. Unbelievable customer service I think you will agree

We were peckish so took advantage of the offer on fish and chips and hot drinks. Very tasty and nutritious.

Had a lovely breakfast at Ed's. Had to go to Caffe Carluccios to get the hot drinks. Linda who served me was very nice and also listened and explained the changes in the restaurant hub. When asked if the hot chocolate was nice she assured me it was and as a result I did have a large delicious hot chocolate. Would come here alone for the hot chocolate! Cakes also looked delicious but never tried. Maybe next time.

Sorry but typical of a communal eating in a supermarket, staff not very smiley, I asked for no salt on fries but I still had salt. They didn't put mayo on the burger because they had run out, the supermarket had loads. I was given sachets tho. Atmosphere probably is down to how people keep their children under control, and keep them under control.

My son loves the Mac&Cheese meal at Slim Chicken. I really like their korean bbq dipping sauce too. Their staff, Shaun is very accommodating and friendly even when its almost closing time. He gave my little one something to draw and color.
