Food needs some work. OK, but lacking in quality This is an extravagant 🍨

First trip here since it’s changed, didn’t realise it was no longer a Wetherspoon's 2 adults and 4 kids, when I say the food was vile it was vileee. We all ordered different things and each one was disgusting but i think the winner was the cheese burger. Never know a burger to be chewy but this was like eating cardboard, dry doesn’t cut it! and the chips was as if they had been fried then warmed multiple times, very stale. Couple of hours being back at home and all of us feel queasy! Most definitely won’t be returning.

It is a real shame but following the recent sale of the wetherspoons and take over of the new owners this place has gone down hill. The service is slow, food is very over priced for what you get and barely anything on the menue is available when you want to order it. Such a shame as this place used to be the place to go in kirkby

NO more weatherspoons. now a freehouse . Ale prices up . pint of Abbott left half . Pint of porter left half again can not see me going back in when weatherspoons ran the pub Friday afternoon was heaving not many in today

We have been to The regent twice since it has changed owners, the second visit was to give them another chance, we definitely will not be going again. The first visit we had 3 Sunday dinners that took a while to get to the table and all of them were cold. The second visit we had a breakfast, this also took a while to get to the table and when it did it looked awful and didn't taste any better.

Visited 15.07.24 so no longer a Spoons then...food took 40 minutes to come out and then 2 out of 3 meals were cold... Gravy congealed...kids drinks served in tiny, dirty plastic cups. Doubt I'll be back. Only positive is that staff were friendly👍

First visit since taken over. There was 4 of us and only 1 person was happy with their meal. Chilli was bland and only just tepid, enjoyed the tortilla chips but would have liked more than 3. Rice was solid and took some breaking up. Did get a refund on 1 of the meals as it wasn't very appetising which was appreciated. Think they could do with a taste tester and thermometer especially as the meals are made to order?!@#

Terrible food, had run out of some dishes at midday. Got food,all were cold. Dirty windows,filthy carpets. Every thing dirty. For a new place,you need to up your game.

Had early evening 6.30pm meal, we had double burger … which was cremated ! Not flame grilled, burnt ! My drink didn’t taste right because of the burnt taste in my mouth. I tried to make exception as it was just a burger … but it was awful, left over half my dinner.. told member of staff that mumbled something and said sorry .. nothing else done or said ! I won’t be returning

Just been for my Sunday lunch with my very fussy grandmother, food was hot and delicious! Will definitely be back for the gammon!!!

I've been there for dinner and breakfast and both was a let down, the food tasted like cheap cash and carry food, hardly anything was fresh or locally sourced, the staff there are always friendly even when it's busy, and the coffee was instant :-(

VERY POOR ! food came cold the they served us was disgusting. three meats was selected got one burnt potatos Yorkshire puddings unrecognisable gravey cold and like water!!!! Do not eat here.......

Thought we’d give this place a try after the recent new ownership, and I really wish we hadn’t bothered. The menus look cheap with some spelling mistakes, the food was abysmal and incredibly dry; we’re paying more money and receiving worse quality food than the previously owned Wetherspoons. We arrived at 12pm, and the constant sound of drilling into the walls really added to the ambience of playing loud clubland music and staff shouting at each other from across the room.

Two meals were good, the other disappointing, partly due to specifics not being met, though requested, such as no ketchup being specified but food arriving with ketchup.

We chose this Wetherspoon to have our breakfast as our daughter has moved near by. We were extremely disappointed with the breakfast that we received as the bacon was burnt, hardly any beans and it didn’t match up to the breakfasts at Hucknall Wetherspoons or Nottingham city centre, Bulwell is also better. The waitresses were very quick to act when the coffee machine ran out but the whole place needs a deep clean. We sat our daughter in a complementary high chair and it was filthy. Please remind your staff of health and hygiene.

Pretty standard open-plan former picture house 'spoons. Staff are friendly and, if you visit in the morning, you know what to expect (lots of young mothers with kids). The only Wetherpoons I've known to have a quiz night (Mondays). Good prices also. Edit: this 'spoons is soon to be no more, which is a shame. Also, there is now another local Wetherspoons with a quiz night (The Lady Chatterley).

Normally like this place but tonight 23rd May 2024 the place was appalling, it wasn't busy so that isn't an excuse, the top part nearer the bar end was disgraceful, 8 tables for nearly an hour was just left with food, plates, bowls and glasses for nearly an hour, people's tables were piling up with empty glasses and not room for more they were drinking, no one was clearing tables just bringing more food or drinks out, an hour passed and one of the staff wheeled a trolley out to start clearing really slow, another staff member was just walking around picking up the odd few glasses giving out dirty looks, when a table was finally cleaned it was wiped down and stuff just brushed on the floor, they were handling dirty plates and bring out other stuff for people with dirty cloths in there hands, I like this place and it's normally good but the staff on tonight didn't give a damn, just because the place is being sold does not mean the customer service and cleanliness should stop.

It's 'Spoons'. Value and quality served in liquid or solid form.

Busy but seemed plenty of cheerful staff !! Not like lot of wetherspoons staff. Food didn't take long and was as expected. Talking to a local who said its closing.better than some we use.yet again commercial decision??

Food was ok apart from the dessert, Apple crumble 👎 I've had it here before and it's been fine , not anymore, I sent the first one they bought back because it looked horrible and was cold in the middle and as you'll see from the pic the 2nd one it wasn't great , Most definitely won't be having that ever again!! Cm'on Spoons you must do better!!

We live far away from kirby in Ashfield but go In the regent when visiting family who live in the area . Its a great friendly place

Tim, we read that The Regent is being binned off......don't shut this branch please. This place is THE jewel in Kirkby's crown & does what it says on the 'hospitality' tin.

Nice atmosphere. Fast service. LOVELY cheeses of many sorts burger with halloumi sticks, brie and a blue cheese dip. Great onion rings. Would definitely have another one. Sticky toffee pudding was disappointing. Tasted lovely but was over-sweet with a very granular texture. Would definitley not have another one.

Definitely one of the best Wetherspoon pubs out there. It's a really nice building with good staff and levels of service. It's also the cleanest locally and food is usually of a good standard.

Amazing as always. Be gutted if/when it closes as advertised.

This place used to be amazing and the food was half decent but now it's really bad! The breakfast is ok but when you order other food like pizzas or steaks etc the quality has really gone downhill. At least that has been my experience. Sometimes you may get a decent meal but most of the time it's not that great. I don't mind paying higher prices if the quality of the food is still the same but unfortunately it is not. I still visit regularly just to drink the coffee in the daytime as it's really cheap (£1.05) with free refills and it's consistent. The alcohol drinks and soft drinks are very reasonably priced too. A pint of Ruddles for example can be got for £1.77 which is amazing. The staff are very helpful and when you do order food or drinks they arrive quite quickly. It's really a shame that the food is way more expensive than it used to be while sacrificing quality too. For years I have praised JD Wetherspoons as I think they have tried to keep town centres alive and offering good service and atmosphere for many of our dying town centres. They also provide a place for families and old people to go who may be lonely otherwise. Hope this review helps.

My husband and I had the curry meal deal on a Thursday. It was delicious, enough on the plate, and great value for money

Just what you'd expect from spoons. Food was good and service swift. Loving the app for ease of service too! Midweek specials for families are great 👍 So disappointed to learn it is being closed.

Didn't have food maybe next time, but nice and clean staff was friendly and nice and the beer is cheap, but a great pint, would I go again big yes from me.

Had lunch in here Friday 29th with mum and sister. Had a really delicious food. I had lasagne chips and salad, mum had steak and kidney pudding, sister had loaded fries and chicken. Couldn't fault the food or service. However, 2 female guests, who were auditioning for the upcoming movie of 2 fat slags from the viz magazine really spoilt it. Very loud, foul language, obscene talk and generally not knowing how to behave in public. No wonder this place is closing. People like that, put off others from visiting. I wouldn't take my kids in there to listen to the filth that was spewing from these peoples mouths. Of course you wouldn't say anything to them because you'd get a nouthful of abuse back. Such a shame.

Lovely place! Big and roomy. All the staff are great. 1 pound for a coffee ☕️ that you can refill, hard to beat that one 😀

Good beer at good prices & most of the time it's been absolutely fine & the mixed grills I normally have always been pretty good. But unfortunately I've also experienced some really poor ones, for instance the booths we've been sitting in have been wet & sticky & the staff have just ignored our complaints. The bad times tho including our last 2 visits when my m8 has ordered a steak & asked for it to be cooked medium, the same as me, but as u can see from the pics(that actually looked worse in real life), the meat was raw. Then when he complained to the staff they brought it bk & it looked as tho they'd not even put it bk on the grill, then it seemed as tho they were swerving us for the rest of our visit. But on the whole, I've mainly had reasonable food with good friendly service it's just a shame a few visits have been poor & let it down. So on the whole I'd give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as 8 times out of 10 it's been absolutely fine

Just order 2 curries on the app and somhow it orderder 4 and charged me came to 38 pound for 2 curries and management told me they can't refund my money worst coustemer sevice ever

Don't think we have ever had a bad meal there. Meet our friends regularly, and service is good. Unfortunately, it's ready for an update. Upholstery & and carpets are in need of changing. And a good professional clean of the toilet would not go a miss. But as I said, food & service are still good.

Gone downhill a lot has this pub used to be packed at one time not now.

Arrived here today for the curry club at 1pm for lunch and had to go to another whetherspoons as everything was out of stock. We was looking forward to this and had to go far a field. I am very disapppointed as i regularly go here with family and this has never happened before when i have been for the curry club.

Went last night,,we drink lots of stouts from all over,,two stouts on last night,,very disappointed,,were visibly lighter in colour than they should have been and tasted thin, weaker and not as they should have. Not good at all

Pretty decent Wetherspoons, typically used by most to drink in, rather than eating at. Food I have has been of the quality you expect.

Seemed nice enough, not that busy when we visited. So nice and quiet for a drink, chat and catch up with friends.

The breakfast was absolutely 💯 and the staff are patient.

This restaurant is usually busy. It's an Okay restaurant overall. Quality of food: ⭐⭐⭐ - Food quality is acceptable and inconsistent. Food is very cheap but taste is Good. Competence of management: ⭐⭐⭐ - The quality of food is inconsistent that means the management do not bring enough challenge to the staff who work here. Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Service is Good, Usually I have no problems with the service here Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - For the price you pay, it's excellent quality and is the reason I keep going. I'll continue going if the prices (across wetherspoons overall) stays the same or similar. Wait times: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Typically around 15-25 minutes. Food is freshly cooked which is reflected in a longer wait time. Toilets: ⭐⭐⭐ - Toilets are clean, but not glamorous.

Spoons does what it does well. The staff at the Regent are amazing, and the beers are good…the menu is, what you would expect. What you don’t expect is the constant shortages, of even the basics…how does a pub have no salt, tomato sauce, even fish! It’s not the staffs fault, but Brexit Tim and his wonderful future dream that has caused the problem. Great staff, lovely clean surroundings, well kept beer…dreadful owner!
