Rip off they don't even garnish there food and the chips are like crisp £76 for 2 meals that looked like they came from a chip shop in feltham if you know you know terrible place swirve it folks

Lovely views and location.. the positives end there im afraid. Had high expectations for this pub judging from past reviews. Food tastes mediocre at best despite rather extortionate prices. Ordered starters - tiny portions for the price paid, esp the nacho's. Ordered a variety of mains to test and all came out very bland. The only taste unfortunately was that of excessive salt. Fish and chips - fish was very oily, chips covered in salt and the mushy peas had taken a detour via the Saharan dessert as they were the driest thing ive ever had the misfortune of tasting. Also had to go hunt for own cutlery and then get service charge added to our bill. All in all - a rather dissappointing experience. Take all the reviews with a pinch of salt :D

Whatever the occasion, the Red Lion had consistently been excellent: Food and service.

We came for a last minute dinner and the food was really good! We sat in the dining room and on our waiter, Zachary’s, recommendation we had the burgers and they were 10/10. The nachos were also superb. Loved how different they were to the bog standard nachos you can get in pubs. Shout out to Zachary though, he was super attentive, very friendly and really made our dinner wonderful. Thank you!

Had a great evening last night with family and 2 dogs. Was very welcoming and the waitress was absolutely delightful. The food was great as well. Will definitely be going more often!

Brilliant menu, service and ambience... This was our first visit to this pub... We'll definitely be going back more often... Highly recommended to anyone visiting this beautiful part of Surrey.

Good food, only let down is it's a bit pricey.

I came here with my son. The location and view is absolutely stunning. The cost was extortionate. We had 2 Sunday dinners and 2 drinks each at a cost of £77!! Outrageous! The service was great until an obvious returning guest arrived and the staff seemed to spend most of their time at his table, pandering to his needs and drinking shots with him....therefore had to wait to catch someone's attention and ask for my drinks. Wouldn't mind but they then had the audacity to add a service charge on when there was clearly a lack of service ....to us at least. Location and live singer excellent. Service and cost of food...not so good.

Good: great outdoor and riverside seating, tasty drink options and ok drink pricing. Bad: no app service or table service outdoors you have to self serve in the bar then carry drinks back to the table yourself across a road which can be tricky. Had to wait about 2 hours for food despite booking in advance, and not even offered any form of 'compensation' or something to have while waiting or even a sincere apology. Told we couldn't even order bread or olives to snack on as kitchen was too busy. Male bar staff was defensive about the whole thing and that he couldn't help it if it was busy and we would just have to wait and could BUY more drinks to pass the time. Didn't even offer us free peanuts or anything for the inconvenience or by way of apology. Portion of food when it arrived was tiny e.g. nachos (literally about 5 or 6 nachos for an expensive SHARER plate!) Also they advertised a burger deal online, any burger for £10 that day, but when ordering, told us only a beef burger was included, no veggie or other options, so veggie people would have to pay full price. I argued this is not what the advert said, but was again told it was too bad and there was nothing they could do so take beef or pay full price.

A lovely place for lunch by the river. Food was really good - rose wine cold and crisp. What more could you ask for?

Me and my partner visited here for the 1st time we are locals we come from Hampton we arrived at the red lion and ordered our food we ordered a steak and chips and a double cheese burger and chips and 2 cokes 1st of it cost £74 which I thought was steep but I thought fair does it's a nice place anyway we waited around 30 mins for our food other people's food was brought out and it looked really nice it came to our food being brought out my partner got 2 burgers stacked on top of each other no cheese no burger sauce no salad.i had to say to the lady that my partner wanted a cheese burger not just a couple of burgers stocked up so she took it away to replace in the meantime mine was brought out with it it was a nice looking steak and tasty the problem there was there was no salad or garnish just a peice of steak and chips that were like crisp no potato at all in them they were ment to be chunky chips so I sat and ate on my own till they brought my partners out they then gave my partner hers it was yet again 2 burgers in a bap little bit of burger sauce and cheese no salad or garnish and the same type of chips (crisps) I just think for what you pay the food would look a lot more appetising I think your paying more for the views then the quality and look of the food I don't think we will go here again to be fair a lot better places to go for your money plus we had to clean our own table and there was a guy who was eating there too and he had to clean his own table

We hired one of the Red Lion boats for a couple of hours and had a great lunch! This is our first time at the Red Lion Shepperton and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time. The boat operating instruction was thorough from Steve. The boat is electric so very quiet and the river ways where we could motor for the trip were varied with plenty to see in the Shepperton/Walton area from the river. D'Oyly's cafe on an island in the river is a great place to stop for a coffee. The slow down in pace of life on the boat was very relaxing! The staff at the Red Lion looked after us so well and the food was great. It's a trendy yet homely comfortable pub with a great eating deck on the riverside! We will definitely go back soon, we loved it! Jackie & Jerry

I came a couple weeks ago with my husband - sat by the river with lovely views. Had two roast beefs - quite shocking at first as the veg arrived in a separate pot and not on the plate. Lovely service by Olivia and Zack, very attentive even though the garden was packed! Would recommend coming here - see you soon Red Lion.

Spotted this pub as I was driving and decided to stop by, it has beautiful seating just by the river, good selection of beer. My favourite was Cruzcamp, we also tried the double patty cheese burger which was on offer on Mondays for £10 with fries. We then went back in the same week and hired the electric boat. £45 for 1 hour from Monday to Wednesday and that was just amazing experience, riding through the Thames river.(Ask for Oli he explained it super well and was very helpful) Highly recommend, lot of fun for families with kids to try it

This is a nice pub next to the river with lots of seating options (indoor, outdoor covered, outdoor next to the river, they even have cabins). The menu is diverse and the food was generally good. We really liked the rillettes and the grilled fish.

Unfortunately my visit was not good at all. Firstly when booking by email I requested a seat in the garden (by the river). On arrival I was told its a first come first served arrangement, I wouldn't have booked if I had known that. Secondly I opted for Fish and Chips (£19) and got the smallest piece of fish I have ever been served. I even asked the waitress if I had been given the small portion by mistake (£13) to which she replied no. Thirdly a dog was sitting on the bench seat 2 metres away from us and proceeded to pee on the seat and over the cushion. Now I love dogs and this was not the management's fault, but it certainly wasn't our fault either. All in all my first visit was not an enjoyable experience.

I visited The Red Lion on Saturday 20th July 2024. My Mum has a lifelong friend who lives nearby, so we chose the Red Lion so that they could catch up and celebrate their recent coming of age birthdays of 90 years! The staff were fantastic. So attentive, friendly and caring. They truly helped make this a special occasion for these ladies. Happy Birthday was sung, the atmosphere & setting was lovely, and food was great. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a wonderful memorable day.

My husband and I hired a tub boat for a couple of hours and it was a brilliant experience. The manager came out and showed us the ropes and off we went with a map of the river. It was a lovely morning out and then finished off with lunch at the pub itself. The Greek pie with spinach and feta was beautfully presented and tasted delicious. The string fries with the parmesan and truffle were straight out of the fryer. Lovely local pub with a great atmosphere.

I enjoy drinking here a lot. Great riverside pub, excellent staff, nice views. However, I ordered some nachos the other day and it was extremely disappointing. About 8 tortilla chips on a side plate with a smattering of topping was not what I was expecting! Surely one of the cheapest and easiest things to deliver? A decent bowl of tortilla chips as a minimum? I'll stick to drinks only!

Sat by the river on a sunny day and was beautiful!!! Drinks are not cheap but the place is worth it! And my dog loved it too😂

Great little pub, I haven't eaten here but have been to a couple of their acoustic evenings on a Sunday (around 5pm to 8pm) They have a number of little booths (outside but under cover) that sit arround 6 people, There is also seating by the river across the road. It's a little on the pricey side 2 pints of Moretti not far off £14 Very friendly staff and always willing to help.

The service was immaculate, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was delightful. We had lunch and on Mondays they have a double cheeseburger for £10!!! Everything was AMAZING!!!There was nothing bad about The Red Lion.

We booked a boat ride for an hour with our kids, had a fantastic time on the boat on our selves. Olly who gave us the demo was amazing! He even took photos of us on the boat on our way back! Great service! Asset to the pub! Thanks Olly!

Friendly staff, good outdoor service. We arrived by kayak for a drink and had real difficulty getting out as the jetty is OOB and the rest of the bank is very high. Would appreciate a place for kayakers and paddleboarders to get out. Thanks!

We booked the private Peacock cabin for a dinner for a 21st birthday. The owners were very accommodating and allowed us to bring the 21st cake with. They had no problem storing it and brought it through later in the evening with candles and a song for the birthday girl. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff...they were brilliant. Super friendly and helpful. Amy was our waitress and she couldn't do enough to make our evening enjoyable. Ollie was also great. The food was delicious. Will definitely recommend a visit to The Red Lion, Shepperton.

Easy jetty to Moor up to. Table service is polite prompt and accurate. Lovely location a must visit place summer winter or whenever.

Always busy, in a good way. Brilliant modern community pub with the best string fries you've ever had. Great range of cask, lager, and IPA on draught. Incredibly welcoming staff.

Shockingly bad. Had a table of 10. They insisted we give them our choices a week in advance.....why ???? Awful food. Microwaved and cold. Everyone hated it.....the beer was OK though.....

Went on a Sunday when visiting family in the area. Food was ok but nothing special. Prices were well over the top from my perspective. Maybe its normal for this part of the world, but in my local in West Sussex I can get a good Sunday roast for the price this place charges for a starter. Staff were fine, parking a pain. Would probably be a nice place in the summer sitting outside, but suspect it would be very busy due to its nice location. I guess that's why they can charge the prices they do, but its not for me.

Best ever food and service excellent

The waiter was lovely and super chilled and was helpful. And a good atmosphere for Sunday lunch. My chicken with trimmings (£20) was okay. I had much better Sunday roast in other places. Good location as you can go for a nice walk along the Thames after. I would recommend the pub!

The food was excellent but is pricey for 'pub food'. The serving staff were attentive & friendly. But......having to push our way through the smokers blocking the pathway in & main entrance was a real treat!!! And having to squeeze through the busy bar to get the restaurant is not what you want want either! Especially as the menu is offering high end food. And after squeezing our way back though the bar & the back through the smokers to go back to the car park to find some wally had parked where there wasn't a space making me have to do 18 manovers to get out of the car park!! Just took the edge off what was a pricey but delicious dining experience! Wouldn't visit again 😔

This is a great place to come and have a full meal but the pub vibe doesn't marry with the menu. No evidence of a bar menu, or lunchtime snacks. I had a starter of the potted shrimps which was delightful, but I'd have liked something less starter and more lunch don't be put off by the 3 stars food was great, the choice was the issue.

We spent a lovely long lunch. 6 adults 3 wee people The pub was very busy but it didn't affect anything. We had top notch service, delicious food and the atmosphere was amazing for a Saturday afternoon. We had the best time. Only two people serving when we arrived , both run ragged but they couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time We will be back. Nanny B rates you 10/10... thanks

Visited The Red Lion for the first time for a double birthday celebration. Fantastic communication about the overall booking and about the food. We had to make several last minute changes, but nothing was too much trouble for the brilliant team at The Red Lion and they accommodated us throughout our whole visit. Thank you so much to the staff who looked after us on the day, you are real a credit to your establishment. The decor and ambience was warm and welcoming, the service was amazing and the food was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. So glad we decided to have our celebration here, we will definitely be back 😊

Been tonight for a few drinks and was a bit peckish so hit the nachos and wow... The best nachos we have ever had, clearly hand made and perfect like most of the food we have had there. Drinks still a bit on the pricy side but very friendly and great atmosphere oh and did I mention the food...

Very disappointed with this pub. The food was terrible, the chicken pie was like soup. The meals weren't all served at the same time. The music was extremely loud and we repeatedly asked them to turn it down. No idea why they said they could accommodate us as we were placed in the bar area. We booked well in advance and after organising our close friends to meet us it was embarrassing how poorly we were received.

Our gym had its xmas party here, No food but plenty of drinks and a beautiful outdoor area. Really nice cosy pub!

Great pub with amazing classic pub food. Our party opted for roast dinners and the food did not disappoint, it was dinner as expected. The portions were really good size and the beef slices were cooked to perfection (medium rare) with crispy roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pud. Root vegetables are served speratly and they all we prepared really good. Desserts also were amazing. There is a kids menu also for under 14 with classic pub options. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend this pub, atmosphere, food and service is excellent. Staff went out of their way to ensure seating arrangements were perfect, and the manager and staff even offered to change the table and stools to make it more comfortable for my mum. Roast dinner was delicious, and service was fast, even though they were busy. Will definitely be going back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I felt that my 2 friends who had fish and chips yesterday were given a very adequate portion size and they both said it was delicious. I decided I was not hungry enough for main meal so ordered the butternut squash soup. I was a bit dismayed to only be given half a bowl full and to find it does not come with any bread as is normal so I was required to pay separately for a small French stick baton. I thought the soup was okay but quite frankly I felt the carton of same flavour from M&S was actually sweeter and creamier. I think this problem with the soup should be addressed as you will lose customers in this way. The amount of people who can afford to eat out is rapidly dwindling because of economic pressure so you need to look after your customers to ensure they return and also spread the word of good food and increase your dining customers. Busy pub on a Saturday night , good atmosphere.

Lovely riverside pub with a very good selection of interesting beers and a beautiful riverside terrace with some great views. Food looks interesting but expensive. There is parking and also good seating options inside and at the garden as well. The service is friendly and the venue was clean and well organised. You need to cross a busy road to get to the riverside terrace but you can order and the waitress will bring it to you. Well worth a visit.

Always love coming here, the burgers honestly never disappoint and staff always friendly. Really do recommend this place for any occasion. We went for burger Monday and it was a great deal however how can you justify £8 for onion rings…

What a great pub for dogs. Bar staff,/ Manager loved my Tiff who was not the best behaved. All the other dogs were so friendly. I'm not local but when I next visit my family I will attend.

Excellent food, excellent service, and a great place to moor on the river

I visited the Red Lion this week with my wife to make use of a gift voucher from my daughters. We had tried a few weeks earlier but on that occasion, having booked a table, we were told to sit at a certain table and a waitress would come and serve us. 20 minutes later, no waitress, no menu, no drinks, we gave up and went home. This week the service was very good. Polite, helpful and friendly but the food was hugely disappointing. The menu was limited and my wife's filo pie was poor. 98% spinach, 1% tomato skin, 1% cheese crumb, encased in oily filo. Served with a so-called Greek salad consisting of one small lettuce leaf with salad morsels, hardly making up a garnish never mind a Greek salad. When it arrived the pie looked so lonely my wife asked for some chips to try to convert it into a meal. Meanwhile my spicy Moroccan lamb was OK but served on soggy sweet potato chips. No garnish or presentation leaving it looking like a fairly unattractive brown pile. (The chips should have been served crispy in a separate container). Puddings were tasty but very small. The accompanying clotted cream had been served using the smallest teaspoon in the cutlery drawer. The chocolate fondant was served with one raspberry cut into 3 pieces and spread around the plate as decoration. Overall this was substandard pub food served at premium prices, represented by a bill of £78. This included one small glass of wine. Overall, a nice pub, nice people, food needs to be improved to justify the prices.

Reviews were all great, service was lacking, we had booked a table, not offered a menu, had to go to bar to get one. Starter was very tasty but not enough pitta bread, to go with Humous and Moroccan pulled lamb. The main courses were delicious.

Amazing food. Best garlic bread I'd ever had, pasta good, chesseburger good and atmosphere was unique in that you can eat on the other side of the road from the pub next to the river.

I booked a table for 5:30 in the safari taking out elderly relatives, we arrived at 5:20 when arrived we were offered other tables but i advised i had booked the safari room, they took us to where i had booked and took our drinks order straight away our drinks arrived within 5 minutes. However then we sat there it got to 6pm and no one had come to take our food order so i went and told someone we were ready to order. 6:10pm someone came in and said the kitchen shut at 6 i was so annoyed i explained that was not acceptable and he agreed to take the order but said they had no roasts left only 2 chicken but no stuffing etc. This pub has won awards and the food was nice but the service really let it down and spoiled the evening, would not eat here again

Had Sunday lunch. Staff attentive at first then a change of shift and we were forgotten. Roast potatoes were old and was told that they were freshly cooked to order (really, roast potatoes cooked in 10 mins!). Reheated definitely, not out of the oven. Anyway beef was delicious, but an expensive pub Sunday lunch.

Was in the snug for a family birthday - good pub. However, the menu was a problem for me, which seemed to lack a fee main course, e.g. no steaks.

Probably the most tasteless and Ill presented meal I have had served up by lack lustre staff that need to put a smile on their faces. By the way the picture I've added is a Greek salad not the excuse you served up and wanting too charge extra for Feta cheese..absolute disgrace...!

To say the staff here go above and beyond is an understatement! Arrived a few mins late (thanks Elmbridge traffic) for boat hire & dinner thereafter but keys and dog managed to get locked in the car in the 28 degree heat. Within 5 mins (and at our request), Staff had brought out dog treats, a towel & hammer. A few deft swings later, the evening and dog were saved, we were given some commiserative free drinks to take onboard and a staff member card-boarded up the window for us as we chugged away! They gave us a free 30 mins extra on the boat too and looked after us like royalty for the rest of the night. Service of the highest order but most touchingly, caring human interaction still exists. THANK YOU all involved. We shall definitely be back (but with far less drama!)

We have only been on Sundays The staff are amazing although mostly young they are very helpful polite and really can't do enough for you The Beef roast is amazing And they often have live music in the evenings A real gem in the community
