Another lovely visit to the Red Lion. The food is superb and the staff are always helpful. Well done.

I had Sunday lunch here with my partners ladies group, we had pre booked our meals, they offer two and three course options, we opted for two courses each and shared the baked brie starter with Sourdough bread, we both chose the roast beef with extra cabbage peas on the side and we shared a cheese cake dessert. Everyone loved the food and and most of us struggled with the generous portions. We met up outside in the the garden where there are picnic benches and a covered area. We ate inside at a pair of long tables, service was polite friendly and responsive. We agreed we would go there again. See images of our various dishes, Baked Brie, Roast beef, Roast pork, Cheesecake, Chocolate fudge cake.

Just really good food !!! Portions just right !! Our friend wanted a calypso coffee at the end which got a bit confusing but that was a minor distraction! Everything else was lovely- well done!!!!!

We have been a few times now, last couple of Christmas days for a drink or two and during the Sapcote carnival, loved the free mince pies at Christmas nicely decorated up, service was quick and friendly nice choice of drinks and beers. Nice beer garden apart from a little untidy near the pub storage.

Lovely breakfast for myself and my husband. I really appreciated the effort put into the vegetarian option to make it unique and interesting. Often we are a second thought. Nice clean restaurant and great, friendly service.

First time at the Red Lion for an early Father’s Day meal. Lovely warm friendly welcome, very good menu choices, 3 of us did not know what to pick as all sounded sooo good!! Service, food and atmosphere were second to none!! Will definitely be back soon!!

Will not comment on food as never actually ordered , lovely clean place ,comfortable seating. didn't eat as went on a Sunday but there was no children's menu on Sundays and nothing on menu for a 6 year old so left disappointed, no reflection on staff or cuisine. But a children's menu should be standard but that's only my opinion

We visited on a Saturday evening for an early meal. The meals were really nice, but a couple in our group felt the portion of the chicken and waffle was pretty small. There was no fish available for fish and chips, which was disappointing. The desserts were good apart from the banana one, which didn't really taste of anything. Over all it was a nice meal but not as good as I was expecting after friends' recommendations.

Lovely, clean pub with really tasty food. Great, fast service. No drama. 10/10 will come here again if I'm in the neighborhood.

Food was really good as was service. Spoiled because we were told we could have puddings but would need to move garden as the table was needed. We booked for 2:45pm and got moved off the table just after 4pm. So we were allowed 1 hour 15 mins - not good enough.

I visited here on a Sunday lunchtime in a party of 10 including two kids aged 3 years. There were also 2 babies under a year who were not eating from the menu but sat with us in high chairs. We all had a roast dinner. Surprised to see no chicken or Turkey on the menu (which made it difficult as there was no separate kids menu so they had beef.) The yorkshire puddings were large but very over done, just a dark brown, crispy shell. The parsnips were underdone and I struggled to cut it with a knife. Some of the party left theirs. The kids meals mirrored the adult meals (only roasts available,) which would be fine if the kids were around 10, but for a 3 year old, it wasn’t overly appealing to them. The desserts were nice, but again, a limited choice of 3 for the kids. I ordered a chocolate pot for my daughter which was exactly the same as mine. She didn’t eat it due to salted caramel and crunchy topping. A plain choc pot in a small container would have sufficed. My main gripe was that when I needed to change my son (8 months) I went to the ladies but couldn’t see a changing table/pull out shelf. I thought there must be a separate area so asked the waitress where the baby change was, to which I was told ‘there’s the ladies toilet.’ Rather than change him in a sink or on a hard floor where he’d be walked on if someone walked in, I did a very quick change in the restaurant on the bench. Far from ideal but fortunately not a soiled nappy! To have high chairs and no facilities to change children is beyond me. Whilst the majority of the food was nice enough, the lack of child and family friendly facilities means that I would not return or recommend this restaurant to others.

We had Sunday lunch, Yorkshire pudding way over cooked, parsnips far to eldente. But they were busy, but not an excuse for bad food, I would think twice before going again

Booked Sunday dinner as a surprise for my husbands ‘special’ birthday with all our family, as we had previously had a lovely dinner there. I’m sorry to say that it was very disappointing. The service was not great. The beef was very tough, in fact all the people who had beef left most of it. My husband had to ask for a steak knife but it was still inedible. I had the lamb which was passable. We were not asked whether we had enjoyed our meals and had to ask to have the table cleared before we could order dessert. Needless to say we will not be returning or recommending.

Olives for starters we're more than olives and lovely Best fish (cod) & chips I've had for long time. Lamp pie brilliant This pub has changed for the better. We'll be back.

We stumbled across this amazing pub for our lunch last week. The owner Alex was very welcoming and friendly. As for the food, it was delicious, hot and plentiful. A big thank you to the chef for filling our tummies with fresh cooked food. We will definitely travel the 45 minutes to come back. Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had too yum.

Just fancied Saturday lunch out so searched for a dog friendly pub near by and found the red lion what a surprise, nice atmosphere, welcomed the dog, the menu was an unexpected challenge so many really nice menu choices we made our selection and when it arrived we were blown away by the quality, presentation and the taste the waitress was really helpful and the service complimented the food, we will certainly be regular visitors to this lovely place keep up the good work and if you haven’t been yet - treat yourself you won’t be disappointed.

2 months ago After seeing The Red Lion on Facebook for sometime now we finally decided to come and give them a go. The biggest thing for us was finding a local business using fresh, local ingredients and this was clearly evident in the food we had. A couple of tapas dishes to start and they were divine! pulled brisket tacos and lamb bonbons - both were extraordinary and presented very well. For mains we had the bistro rump steak and the lamb cutlets, again excellent and cooked to perfection! The bistro rump is tall and juicy and looks like a fillet you might find in a high end restaurant - an absolute steal at £20! We just could not resist the sound of the homemade desserts and again they did not disappoint - one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had and the sticky toffee pudding was also very nice. Overall an amazing experience, a well kept modern pub with friendly and attentive staff, really good drinks selection and will be recommending to everyone.

Heard mixed reviews, went in with a positive outlook, came out with a empty wallet and unhappy tastebuds.

Really wasn’t impressed by the quality of food, and I wasn’t impressed by the price either.

Quality of the food was disappointing and was way over priced for a village pub! Chips were over cooked pieces of cardboard and burgers were overcooked too. We ordered extra Stilton on the burger but it was not worth the extra £1.50 as there was a pinch of stilton. Very disappointing meal overall 🙃

Just back from Sunday Lunch and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. Now sitting at home feeling comfortably full and happy after having a turkey roast - each bit of it was perfect - well cooked pigs in blankets, crispy roast potatoes, carrots cooked to perfection, a massive Yorkshire pud and a huge pile of turkey. Had the brownie for pud and it was beautiful - warm and fudgy with a slightly crisp top. Husband had the Sticky Toffee pud and that was divine too. Service was spot on and we were seated in a comfortable corner. We came with Dogs and Children and all made welcome. Will definitely be coming back.

A group of 14 of us had our Christmas meal at The Red Lion last night and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was lovely, it all came out quickly and and tasted great. We booked quite last minute having already booked a venue months in advance, but the menu at the Red Lion was much more accommodating or everyone and great value. Staff were all really friendly and helpful and so the atmosphere was ideal for a Christmas celebration with friends. We stayed until we were kicked out at last orders!

Excellent Sunday Roast, very warm and cosy throughout with friendly yet professional service. Having eaten at many pubs locally, I must say The Red Lion is second to none! You can really taste the freshness and quality and although not cheap, the value is incredible as you certainly get what you pay for where quality and service are concerned. Absolute gem of a pub, can't wait to try the tapas.

Warm and welcoming village pub which punches well above its weight with the food and atmosphere. We came for a late Sunday roast, grandparents, parents and a child. We felt at ease at once, great ambiance and staff. The meal was outstanding in quality, quantity and value (and we are picky!). The Red Lion deserves all success - we shall return without doubt.

Wentvfor Sunday lunch 4 adults 2 children. Booked a table for 1.30, not seated till 2pm. Service is very slow. Once the main course is finished, I ordered the desert. Again, another wait. The deserts were poor. My 4 year old grandaughter wants the childrens brownie... it was welded to the plate! You could smell it was burnt. The waiteress was very aplogetic. We only have one chef! Sorry, it's not my fault, and there no excuse to serve poor food. A very expensive poor experience

Went for a meal to this lovely place, the food was amazing and the range of gluten free options was impressive tasting as good as the rest. Would recommend that you need to book in advance and have a couple of hours window to eat as someone will be before or after you.

What isn’t to love about this place! I often come here whether it’s for drinks with my partner or friends or even for a meal out!… The food here cannot be beaten! So last Saturday morning I had to try the breakfasts with my partner and we were not disappointed! By far the best breakfast around and definitely worth a try! I must say too that the landlord Alex and all his team are so polite and friendly it really does make you feel at ease! 10/10

Having seen such wonderful reviews of The Red Lion, I couldn’t help but give my normal Friday night meal at my village local a miss to try The Red Lion. I must say, I certainly made the right choice. I was blown away by the cosy, warm vibe and the friendly service I received by what seemed to be the very competent and hands on owner, who greeted me with such professionalism, yet it felt as if I was an old friend, that personal touch goes a long way. On to the food, I was told this was launch night of the new menu, so was a little apprehensive as I understand these launches can sometimes have hiccups, needless to say I had nothing to worry about. My Lamb Bon Bons were cooked to absolute perfection and the inclusion of harissa mayonnaise was a stroke of pure genius, the combination of beautifully cooked lamb that fell apart in my mouth with that delicious sweet harissa was something I will long for eternally. For main course I enjoyed a new addition to the menu, the Venison Burger, an absolute treat, so rich and delicious complimented perfectly by the sweetness of the red onion jam, another stroke of culinary genius at play. The Crimble Crumble didn’t disappoint either and it felt as if I was at home with my Mother who made such a wonderful crumble. Thank you so much Red Lion Team for such a wonderful first but not last experience. My new go to restaurant!

Came again for a wonderful Sunday Lunch. The choice of meats were so perfect that I upgraded to the trio to have a slice of each!!! All perfectly cooked and accompanied by a giant Yorkshire pudding, perfect roast potatoes and delicious veg and proper gravy, which was a real surprise!!! The desserts were clearly homemade and equally as delicious. We genuinely have booked in again for this Sunday too!

Booked a table for 3 for Sunday Roast. We received a warm welcome from friendly, helpful staff.
