One of the best places I have eaten in a long time, proper pub food, good portion size, Staff was all very nice and service was superb! 100% will be going back more often. Well worth the hour drive. Could not fault it one bit.

We booked a special Christmas Dinner for four at the Red Lion Llandyfaelog. It is a homely pub/restaurant offering o wide range if food to choose from. The Christmas Dinner itself was a joy. We enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and mouthwatering desserts. We chose the Baileys cheesecake,- which was absolutely delicious, and a sticky toffee pudding, also delicious. Served by wonderful staff, who went above and beyond to make the evening a memorable one. Delicious food, a fine selection of wines and spirits, a great welcoming atmosphere, what more could you want. We will certainly make this a regular 'haunt' in future. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you to all at the Red Lion. See you soon!!

We are in the garden centre in Carmarthen looking for some lunch we asked one of the staff there for recommendation she said she always go to the The Red Lion which was only 15 mins away so off we went, It was Amazing delicious food in a beautiful Village in a lovely pub. Was staying close by, and the owner recommended the Red Lion. As soon as we walked in, the staff were very polite and welcoming. Ordered two different meals, and they were both exceptional, good portions, well cooked, and very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed in a cottage near the Red Lion and the pub was recommended to us by the owner. In all, we ate here three times and had wonderful service each time. Be prepared to book as the pub is always full - there is a reason for that, it’s amazing!! I had the beef strips in pepper sauce which was amazing. The welcome was friendly and the service was superb. Price was reasonable for amazing food. I would highly recommend the Red Likn to anyone!!

My wife and I found the Red Lion by chance, and I’m so glad we did. There was plenty of choice on the menu. The food was excellent and the staff very welcoming. We will certainly recommend the pub to family and friends and will be returning.

Don't be put off from the appearance of the place from outside . A warm welcome inside , nice staff, very good menu choice and the food was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. I wish I had found it sooner in our holidays. Definitely give it a try

Excellent food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. I had the fillet steak strips and it was delicious - beautifully tender and a very tasty sauce. The chips are also excellent and served with lovely fresh vegetables. The homemade cheesecake is also worth every calorie! I rarely leave a restaurant feeling like it was worth the money but the red lion totally surprised me! Definitely worth a visit!

Called last night for food and was really impressed. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were quickly served our drinks and shown to a table .We ordered the homemade Lasagne and the Fish & Chips .Both meals were superb with lovely home cooked crispy chips .The Lasagne was perfect. All in all a fabulous experience and would highly recommend 👍

I hadn’t been to the Red Lion for a meal in years. The menu made me suspicious as it had such a range of items and then there were the specials to add when we got there. I feared it was going to be frozen pre-cooked meals. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Everything was fresh and delicious. I had the salmon special which had cockles and prawns in a butter sauce and it was perfect. There were lots of choices for vegetarians (not the usual few you see on every menu). The specials all looked well thought out and the salad/vegetables served with the meals were really nice prepared and suited the meal they were sent out with (a bugbear of mine!). We went on a Thursday and it was packed. Locals at the bar and lots of couples, families and groups eating. The drink selection was good and the service from all the staff very friendly. It’s somewhere I’d definitely be happy to return to and I can’t wait to do so.

This pub is just the best little gem for delicious food. Freshly cooked, home made, and tasty. The best steaks, sauces, fresh fish, sea food. The list goes on. I had the poacher’s chicken, which was to die for. Give it a try, and you’ll be back for more. Excellent!

A lovely light and friendly pub/diner. This was our first visit but will not be our last. My wife purred over the cockle and bacon starter while I enjoyed my main of Hake from the specials menu. Unfortunately did not have room for dessert so we will try those when we go again.

Absolutely brilliant; lovely food and the staff are wonderful. We were made very welcome 3 adults including myself, a three year old and a 13 year old jack-chi. I couldn't have had a better meal on my birthday. Really hope to come and eat here again.

We , 4 of us, visited 5th February fir Sunday lunch. Table at 2pm. We walked in and it was full of diners. We had a great welcome even though they were very busy, our orders were taken straight away and drinks served, taken to our table. Though we did wait for around 15 minutes the wait was well worth it . Both starters and main courses were delicious, and there was so much food we had no room for anticipated deserts. Next time. The most pleasing thing was that the meal prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return and have told lots of friends already about our experience. Well done, and keep it up. Brian

Visited on a day when it was really busy, the girl behind the bar did outstandingly well. Food was amazing , had the brie wedge and duck bon bons to start, then the sirloin and the lamb chops for main . We were going to have a dessert but we were so full we decided against it . I don't want to overstate this, but I am pretty sure that this is one of the best pubs in the UK. Not for posh, fine cuisine or anything like that, but for straightforward, very high quality, homemade traditional pub food. We turned up on spec while on holiday, and received the warmest possible welcome from everyone there - staff, regulars and other customers alike - and the food was what you always want, but so rarely get from a pub. Puddings were every bit as good too! The pub had a lively, friendly atmosphere which made us feel very much at home and none of us wanted to leave by the end.We're staying over an hour away (we called in on the way home from a trip out) and it's no exaggeration to say that we're trying to work out some excuse so we can go back again before we need to return home.You won't find better anywhere else, I promise you!

We were staying locally for the weekend and wanted to find somewhere for Sunday lunch so looked on trip advisor and the red lion looked a good bet. Booked a table for 1pm. We were served quickly with drinks and the lady was very friendly. We were seated in a room just off the bar that had three other tables in it,all were full and there was a nice background of chatter. We both ordered the lamb which was lovely and there was plenty of vegetables in separate dishes-in fact we could never have finished the amount that was there!My husband didn’t have room for dessert but I can always find some ,so I had the strawberry sundae which was huge-see pic-and absolutely lovely.When we are next in the area we wouldn’t hesitate to visit here. We were recommended to visit this pub/Restaurant by a very friendly man walking his dog,we were given directions and in the village we found the pub,very nice,clean and very friendly staff. We ordered our meals we had starters of prawn cocktail,whitebait,and cheesy ,ushrooms huge portions but very nice,followed by mains burger which was huge,beef strips in pepper sauce,and chicken breast in a creamy sauce all very nice. We looked at the pudding menu but we had to decline as so full but wish we could of had one as they looked very inviting. If that way again will defo go back,so we recommendvery highly.

Haven’t been to the Red Lion for years, a friend recommended the food at the weekend. I walked in this evening and the welcome was as fantastic as I can remember from years ago. The food was fantastic, on the table in 5 mins and the staff were superb. Looking forward to our next visit already!

Following a recommendation we reserved a table for Sunday lunch. Wish we had found this place on previous visits to the area as we had one of the best pub Sunday lunches ever. Roast lamb was superb, served with a good selection of vegetables followed by well presented desserts, all reasonably priced. Staff very helpful and friendly. We will be back !.

Despite living realtively local we have only visited here in the last 2 wks. What a find! Lovely welsh welcome and excellent menu choices large portions with delicious home made puddings. It’s extremely popular and gets very busy - book ahead. Well worth a visit one of the best places we have eaten for a long long time! Cant wait to return.

Called here with my family for lunch on Easter Friday - it’s off the main road and I saw a sign pointing to it so as it was lunchtime we headed down the road to give it a go. Glad we did - comfy, full of light and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed a delicious range of meals - I had the fish and chips, my wife had a tasty vegetarian meal, my son and daughter huge plates of salad & crisps accompanying the ciabatta sandwiches they’d ordered.

We were recommended the Red Lion by one of the receptionists at Carmarthen Bay Caravan Park. We called in on a Tuesday lunch time, I ordered the Cod in Beer Batter, my husband ordered the Steak and Ale pie. The batter was to die for, however the fish could have been cooked a little more for my liking, it was a huge piece. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pie, which was served in a dish topped with puff pastry, there was lots of meat, mushrooms and gravy.

We had a fantastic meal. My partner had the homemade chicken curry which was divine. The battered fish was fantastic. We popped back the next day and our pooch decided he didn't want to leave. To be honest....neither did I.!!!

This is the in place to eat in this area. The food is very good, with an extensive menue. The landlady and staff are friendly and very helpful. It's a great place for functions, my club has rebooked already for next Christmas.

Discovered this place via google and stopped for a meal after a new year’s day walk at Pembrey. Lovely atmosphere and we were impresssed by the warm welcome from staff and excellent food. Good value too. Definitely one we will visit again.

Went here for Sunday lunch loads to eat choice of turkey/pork or beef loads of veg lovely desert as well. We have been coming here for 14 years and the lovely Sarah has got it spot on, so much so we had to have the mix grill challenge on the following Tuesday. Our friends from Pevensey Bay would not of forgiven us if we had not done so. Thank you Sarah and her staff for a fabulous evening.

Visit this Pub/Restaurant quite regularly,by far one of the best in the area food always excellent, starters,mains and sweets, always good size portions,sweets are stunning,very good selection of drinks,and very friendly staff. Called in after seeing the reviews whilst staying in Carmarthen Bay, asked young man behind the bar if food was being served , he had to go and ask. It clearly was as the owner we think was taking an order elsewhere. Once confirmed that it was we asked where we could sit and and again he had to go and ask. Told we could only sit ate the table near the door , no other tables in use at this time and no reserved markers in this section. Most other tables received table service we had to order at the bar. Food was average pub group and my Lasagne was quite bland. No one came to check how the food was and we left before finishing our drinks, definitely made to feel as though we would of received better service and welcome if we had been local.

Very busy on a Monday evening. We got the last table. Poor waitress was serving food and bar and was run off her feet.

We had three evening meals whilst we were staying nearby. Each meal was very good, the staff were friendly and food was served in a timely manner. Everybody were very nice to our dog and should we be in the area again we would definitely eat here again.
