The Red Lion in Coventry

I have been coming to the Red Lion for about 3 or 4 years now. The staff and service are consistently great, The whole team cant do enough to assist guests. Thanks to Keaton, Rosie, Lewis, Ash, Jamen, Conlen, Becca and anybody else I missed.

Came in a few days ago and was greeted with a lovely atmosphere when I walked in. The log burning fireplace is a great addition to the coziness of the pub and one that you rarely see nowadays. The well mannered man behind the bar, Jamen, was polite and very welcoming (Not to say this is a rare sight as all the staff were very polite) but he stood out the most to me with his smile and humorous banter as I ordered my drink. The food I had was just a side, only wanted something to help the pint go down. The calamari was brilliant. All in all, it was a nice change to go into a pub and feel comfortable just by the decor and kind hearted staff.

Had a great time here with the boys, food was good and drinks kept coming, will go again, hope to see Rosie, who served us with a cheerful smile, honestly made the mood so much better :)

Came here the other day and the service was Rosie was 10/10. Lovely atmosphere in there too and great food. Rosie really put the SERVE in service 💪

Food was cold when came at the thay came at with even more cold food had bad belly for days

7 of us attended, staff were rude from the start, meals came out and 3 of them were wrong but apparently it was our fault, two of us ordered medium steak..it came out raw and we couldn't eat it, two of us had exactly the same steak but the "assistant manageress" would only refund one person.... when we complained to the guy waiting on he just walked away laughing, we spent over £200 and can honestly say it was a terrible experience!.... won't be returning

Great Atmosphere, clean and nicely decorated, food always very well cooked and good value for money. Staff always very approachable and friendly would highly rate this pub restaurant

My 2nd visit always a warm welcome our servers today were Rosie & Zoe who were lovely & very attentive. Food was good & everyone enjoyed. Only improvement is improve the flat beers.

Lovely place to go on a Sunday, Zoe & Rosie were really accommodating and very helpful! Can’t wait to come back soon :)

Came to The Red Lion today to complete some work on the fire exit... Amazing welcome from Tracey, Terri and the staff here today What a great venue, very popular with diners, it's got stunning outside spaces with a huge carpark. I personally love the food from Ember inns especially the Sunday roast... The food coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic and has got me booking a table for Sunday dinner...😋😋😋 Great staff here and the real log fire had the whole place toasty. Thanks for looking after me during my visit... 🙂👍

The Red Lion is a lovely pub. We always enjoy going into the Red Lion whether it be for a drink or to eat. The atmosphere is warm and cosy. We are always made welcome and relaxed. All the staff are friendly. Jamen is most helpful

too expensive for how very little food you get, paid £7 for a starter for it to come out looking like 3 kids sausages, £13 on halloumi skewers for the halloumi coming straight out the fridge! not cooked in the slightest, service was amazing i cannot fault the girls behind the bar at all, however food was very disappointing & a huge let down

We had our Christmas dinner here for the second year as normal the staff were brilliant atmosphere good and the food was excellent. All the food came out hot the dinner was just the correct portions. The Manager Tracey is always attentive ensuring that you are having a good time and the food to your satisfaction. Value for money is outstanding we will definitely go again.

We recently attended the Christmas sip and paint night. We had a lovely time, well organised and lovely atmosphere. We were able to paint two baubles and had a lovely festive cocktail within the cost of the event. Would definitely attend more of these evenings. Lewis and Terri were most helpful!

Real open fire, excellent beer selection, Inc Old Peculiar. Busy, so reserve a table. Don't have to pay to park, enter reg inside bar. Best value steak. Extensive outdoor seating.

From arrival until we left, we were warmly greeted and looked after. The Sunday dinners are amazing, wholesome and filling. Can wholeheartedly recommend the rib of beef. My partner had the duo - turkey and gammon, which was equally as tasty. The manager is friendly and seen all around the pub helping out and chatting with customers. The staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend a visit.

The Red Lion is a great pub in general with great food but took my little boy (who's 18 months) for breakfast with Santa and it was fab from start to finish. Met at the door with a little gift bag with colouring and stickers. There were also different stations for crafting activities and a letter to Santa. Lovely breakfast served and then the big fella himself made an appearance with chocolate and a gifts for the kids. Great morning.

Excellent food, service & atmosphere, tempted to lick the plate.

My friends & I booked a table about 3 wks ago for 1pm. We received an email asking us to get there 12.45 pm which we did. We waited 10 mins to let them know we arrived but as only on person working behind the bar we had to find our own table, eventually ordered our food with another 10 minute wait to do this, enquired if there was a wait for food and told no. Waited around twenty minutes for food that was awful. No staff at this time of year is very shortsighted for this establishment, only booked tables should be allowed and not large groups of walk ins. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

I booked a table for 20 people & because these people didn’t show at the allocated time the manger kept asking me to give up the tables as they were busy. This is the whole reason why I book tables in case it gets busy. Won’t be going there again!

Just left the Red Lion after having some beautiful food, was lovely a hot served quickly and the team were lovely. We were served by Sean first and received the food from Lewis table checked and asked if we needed anything else. You need to put your car reg in on arrival. We were very pleased with the service! Didn't get the chefs name but want to thank him for the lovely meal we had tonight. Overall food team and atmosphere was lovely. Thank you Nade

Been a few times with large family birthdays. Have always been able to accommodate us, good food and fair pricing. Service has always been fantastic!

The staff at this pub are brilliant. Lovely man behind the bar who went above and beyond to serve me & the waiting staff were also wonderful. A credit to your chain!

Had the posh Fish and Chips and was delicious and portionally value for money recommend. My family had Sunday dinners and Sausage and Mash each thought was lovely and definetly will be back.

Came for the first time today with my family & fiancée for her birthday. Nothing was too much for Zoey who managed to sort out our younger sons food requests due to ASD with the kitchen staff with no fuss, to ensure the other staff brought out my partners pudding with a candle etc. Food was lovely, presentation was really good and came out in a timely manner and popping hot !

The Red Lion in Coventry is welcoming, clean, and friendly. The building is charming and inviting. The service was prompt and friendly, and my server Zoey deserves a special mention for going above and beyond in her customer service-she brought out my meal super quickly and checked I had everything I needed, including a doggy bag for leftovers. She was cheery, efficient and patient. 10 gold stars!

At the time I visited it was nice and quiet. A nice chill vibe where I sat and had a good laugh with my wife. Ordered the Gobi Dhansak (vegan) and Ultimate Burger (not vegan). Food came out relatively quickly and was nice and hot. Really enjoyed my burger and the curry was also a hit. Can recommend this place for an enjoyable place to visit.

King prawns were tiny out of a can. Salads are dry with no dressing. Fish was cold.

Lovely good would comeback again the servers were lovely too.

What a lovely pub The food was amazing steak was cooked to perfection. Prices very reasonable. Accomadated party of 12 with ease bringing all the food at the same time. Everyone in our party enjoyed every mouthful of their food.

Came to the pub for a family meal, and it did not disappoint. Staff were really friendly and helpful, we were a largish group and we were catered for well.

Horrible place with terrible food and service. First the place smells really bad like oil.. the food was the worst I've had in my life... I even had a couple of hairs in my food. I complained about that and the employee said the hairs were mine! They charged me for everything and I did not get even an apology! I strongly do not recommend this place.

Went in for lunch today. Very good choice on the menu. Smiling and attentive Zoey brought us our food and was lovely, checking every now and again to make sure everything was ok. Will visit again.

Roast beef dinner was delicious, burger was the best I’ve had in a pub and my dad said the hunters chicken was the best he’d had. We’ll be back!

Every time I visit Coventry I always dine at the Red Lion, tasty food, good variety and value for money. The staff are always helpful, friendly and cheerful, highly recommend and I cannot wait for my next visit.

Handy for the hospital, this was a very well run establishment with a wide menu available. Service was very quick and the food was good value.

Way to expensive. 2 pints of lager and a g&t for £17!! Lager wasn't nice either. Not for me

The food took about an hour to come, my steak was really overcooked and my partners food was cold but we were too hungry and we didn’t want to wait for another one so we just ate it

The food was very good, and did not have to wait very long at all. Very small point, when the food arrived, we were asked if we required any additional sauces, so we asked for some mayonnaise. However, this never turned up, nor did we see the server again. However, as there was some burger sauce on the plate already, it wasn't an issue, just a small point.

Ordered a Sunday lunch via Just Eat. It took nearly one hour arrive. When it did it was small, cold, congealed, and inedible. Just Eat said it due to different cooking styles and would not refund. I drove to the restaurant and they confirmed that Just Eat can only give a refund and that the food had been picked soon after the order and were unsure why it took so long to arrive. They offered replacement food. I took the offer and unfortunately the food was no better when it was hot.

My birthday dinner with a family friend. Absolutely out of this world. The food was delish. Waitress was polite and all smiles. I died and went to heaven with a gorgeous dessert. (I wanted to lick the plate clean)

Once again returned to the Red Lion, but this time to sample their Sunday roast. Uon arriving, the staff were excellent ad always, and so polite. So my partner and I sat down to decide which Sunday roast we fancied. But then a team member walked past us holding a plate of fish, chips and mushy peas. . . . . You know where this is going 😁 Not just myself but my partner ordered it too (Posh fish and chips with mushy peas) which was 2 large battered sea bass. Absolutely delicious and very generous portion sizes. For the price, absolute value for money. Would highly recommend, and next time we've promised ourselves to go for their Sunday roast as that looked amazing too.
