Great food even if a bit pricey these days?

Lovely afternoon tea here with a good friend everything was fresh and nicely presented. Had to wait a while for our pot of tea but other than that it was very pleasant. Plenty of parking even though it was extremely busy

As per usual, pleasant staff, excellent selection of ale Had a change of dish this time and ordered a chilli crispy beef salad. Slight hint to your kitchen. This dish is common out in the far east, however when you pour chilli sauce over the crispy beef it no longer remains crispy.

Stopped by for a light bite and a drink. Good service in lovely surroundings. Food was lovely.

Had the most fabulous crispy chilli beef salad at the Red Fox today. Best thing I’ve tasted in years. Always a pleasure visiting this place with great staff and an incredible friendly atmosphere.

Bar serving staff abrupt and unfriendly , sister went to buy another glass of wine almost £10 server was condescending and surly ....totally uncalled for . We only had the drink and decided not to eat there ... Shame as the building and grounds impressive ..

My mum took my wife and I for a meal here today for my birthday. From the point we walked in the staff couldn't have been nicer. We had 3 starters of coronation croquet x2 and chicken liver pate. For main we had fish & chips, sausage & mash and the steak burger. All of the dishes were excellent and generous portions. No space for dessert unfortunately. Particular thanks go to our waitress Tania. She was so friendly and efficient we felt well and truly looked after. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

This is a really nice country pub. I assume it was previously a private manor house with its own grounds. It's now a very large restaurant and bar with an extensive beer garden at the back. They have numerous rooms but its best views are to the rear overlooking the well manicured lawns and gardens. I came here for lunch today and had my favourite, which is the crispy beef salad. Then I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Food was excellent as always and the staff were attentive and pleasant.

Pleasant place for leisurely lunch. Plenty of choice on menu and well trained staff. Not a place to be in a hurry.

Ordered a light lunch! It came very light!! Tiny peice of quiche, desert spoon of potato salad and a lettuce leaf with a piece of cucumber and 1 tomato.very disappointed.....and it was £12!!!!

Being given the choice of where to go for my birthday meal was a no brainer for me I said Red Fox as the last three times we have been it was very good, sadly not this time. 5 of us at the table three of us had the feathered beef one had salmon and a rump steak the mash that came with the beef was cold on all three so the waiter said ok ill sort that and took them back to the kitchen 15 mins later our meals come back the other two dishes I said to them to eat it as there's was hot meaning by the time our three meals came back the two were finished and the side orders of veg we ordered had now gone cold which the waiter was happy to replace. The fresh meals were indeed hot and we ate them even though the feathered beef was overcooked and not as tender as the 3 previous visits the food was ok. at no point did anyone acknowledge the issue with the food even a sorry about that would of been enough Red Fox you let us down as this was defiantly not the usual standard we get when we come to your restaurant. so Sadly you will no longer be my first choice. How you dealt with this was to just ignore it. Spoiling my birthday meal is not the end of the world and as I said it was ok but a sorry and acknowledging the problem would of gone a long way

Came to this lovely restaurant with my family for my mother's birthday. The staff were very attentive, food was fabulous and a great atmosphere too. A definite recommendation 10/10.

Don't be fooled by the prices of the 'nibbles' menu, they may be half the price of a main but they are actually a bite for £8! Other than that, great pub with an amazing beer garden.

This was a celebration of our close friends' 60th Wedding Anniversary. The setting was perfect. The facilities and the staff were excellent.

The food was exquisite, and so delicious. We fancied a variety to tantalise our taste buds and indeed we were so very pleased. 😁 Our server was the icing, she really did make our day, she was so lovely, very welcoming, friendly, comforting, and really funny. She made our overall experience superior. Thank you Red Fox staff :)

Had the beef feather and it was lovely, but it was the seasonal veg that took the crown. So many places over cook the veg. Not this place. Cooked to perfection. Nice to see a single portion of the cheese board too. Recommend.

Just had a wonderful Father's Day in the garden of The Red Fox. It was a lovely family atmosphere with good food and drinks, and a live music from Rob Jones playing a really good and varied 'Dad's Playlist'

Very welcoming and friendly service

The pub is huge. It has a lovely vibe. A posher feel to it with the decor and general ambience . Perfect spot to meet my friend, catch up and celebrate my looming 40th. The staff were very attentive. Food was delicious. I'll definitely be returning.

Amazing venue and food was excellent

We always have such a wonderful time at The Red Fox and have been going for years, it’s our second home! We go with our children, our extended family, our friends, we go for coffee, for meals, for celebrations. The staff are so lovely and friendly and the food is always delicious, with something for everyone to enjoy. It’s cosy by the fire on colder days and peaceful in the beautiful garden when it’s warm. And it’s dog friendly!

A very pleasant afternoon drink in the sunshine served by helpful staff

Food is amazing. The burger is great. We had the chicken roast dinner and it was stupidly good. It is not that expensive for the quality. Food was fast to come out, the beer is good. Dogs are allowed in the front part to get food. Very good.

This was our second visit in two weeks and both times we had delicious food and drink, great service in delightful surroundings, I can recommend the baked feta starter, fish and chips followed by creme brulee, 😋 booking is recommended.

We love it here. We've had many a family gathering around the big round table, and more cosy evenings next to the open fire. Staff are always (and I mean always) polite, friendly, chatty and downright pleasant. In all times we've been, we've never had a bad meal. Plenty of choice on the menu to please all plates, food is always fresh and portion sizes plentiful. We look forward to our next visit.

My family and I are only in the area for 1 night and stumbled upon the Red fox by chance. We have two children under 2 and the staff were so friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The pub is in a beautiful location and all facilities were very clean and well presented. If we are ever back this way we will definitely return. Thanks again, to the lovely curly haired waitress who served us, she was a delight!

All the team, waiting on and bar staff were so welcoming and friendly..How the chefs consistently produce such a variety of quality meals is very impressive. TBH we always find Brunning and Price restaurants to be excellent in every way!

We called in with no booking for Sunday lunch & were accommodated straight away...the service & food were exceptional it was without doubt one of the nicest roast dinners we've had I would highly recommend the red fox and will definitely 100% be returning.

This is a great "country " pub/restaurant that has a huge outdoor area for families and friends to enjoy when the weather allows. There is a large covered area in the outdoor space that serves really good pizzas, fries etc. The indoor area serves excellent food and has a large selection of beers, lagers and ciders as well as a very good selection of whiskies, gins etc. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area but must be on a lead All-in-all a good place to visit..

Enjoyed a beautiful family meal in this amazing venue. The staff were wonderful and polite. The flapjack with the latte was fabulous.

Fabulous experience at the dog friendly bar tables in the Red Fox. Had goats cheese and onion & cider soup to start with chicken schnitzel and cheese & potato pie for mains. Chuck in a glass of Chardonnay, a pint of local perry and a pale ale, together with a wonderful serving lady who supported Tranmere, and the Red Fox was a perfect early evening experience...

Every aspect of this visit was amazing, all the staff were really friendly but professional, the food was excellent and the service was great too. There was a medical incident whilst we were dining which my my Wife assisted with as she’s a nurse, two members of staff helped, one went round and spoke to the diners in close proximity to make sure they were OK and the other staff maintained some normality almost like it was something they had rehearsed for. Well done Team Red Fox, keep up the good work!

Awful experience Food and prices disgusting No fish and chips Steak sandwich for 3 people all uneatable Replaced with quiche Lorraine which was nice but for price rediculous small portion a pile of green leaves and small amount of potato salad Must say the staff were all lovely and waitress very accommodating

I have no idea how this place is so highly rated. On arrival, there were five staff at the bar. One serving whilst others chatted. Took an age for someone to look up and actually make eye contact. The place is exceptionally clean, light, and airy. The food did not match the environment, unfortunately. Overdone/dry/rock hard roast potatoes, greasy and overdone yorkshire puds, texture less and tasteless mash that I suspect was mass produced and microwaved The beef was good to look at but lacked flavour. The pork was a little better but not great. Sticky chicken starter was better, but the chicken was again a little bland and was accompanied by a cheap flavourless plum sauce. I'm quite disappointed really, although this was their standard Sunday fare, I shan't be back to try anything else. Staff were pleasant and (once they acknowledged us) efficient . If it wasn't for the great surroundings, I'd have guessed we were in a very pricey version of Wetherspoons. Over £70, without wine or dessert. "Emperors New Clothes" comes to mind

Excellent menu and food. Unfortunately today we were stuck by the door in the back bar, which on a hot summer's day would have been fine, but each time the door was opened a chilly breeze wended its way to us. Hence the 3 stars for atmosphere. The staff today were not as welcoming as we are used to, verging at times on surly and certainly not something we are used to.

Put simply, The Red Fox is in my opinion one of the very best restaurants on the Wirral. It's got a pretty well stocked bar as well. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous venue and fantastic service. It’s the little touches that count - my Sunday lunch went cold as I had to attend to my baby son. The staff reheated the meat and even gave me fresh gravy and vegetables to go with it. Sincerely appreciated and a lovely venue for a memorable Easter Sunday lunch

Great place, on the large side but it doesn't feel like it the way the seating is laid out. Really loved the coal fire and seating around it. Menu has good choices, food was good and decent portions. Only negative is skinny chips weren't hot. Steak sandwich was beautiful. Decent price and love the fact that you get tokens towards your next meal, get 6 tokens and 12 quid off the next meal. Would definitely be back to this location and try another location within the chain. No photos of food as we were in company.

Very nice place for a pub meal. Good selection of real Ciders. Staff very helpful and food served well. Not a huge vegetarian section but what they do have is tasty.

The place is lovely and the service attentive, polite and non-intrusive. The food was terrific except the potatoes dauphinoise, on my plate and two others in our party, which was dry hard and overdone. I love this type of potato dish, but this was not it. The beef feather was soft and tasty, and everyone enjoyed their meal, but commented on the potatoes as a let down. For the price of the meal I'd expect more attention to detail.

Ordered cod and chips. Cod didnt taste like cod, and had no flavour whatsoever. Chips not great. Went to morissons the other day and cod and chips much much better.

Very disappointed with the bar staff who ignored us and seated another couple before our party. When questioned why we were being missed out as we were stood there, was answered with I'm sorry I didn't mean to miss you out on purpose I didn't do it intentionally I'm a professional with 17 years experience. Not sure why he had the need to try dress me down with this comment in the bar area? Should just have excused himself from the couple he had started engaging with said this party is before you I will come back to you once I've finished. Food excellent, great flavours, wine list good, and service in the restraunt good.

Relexing location, good food and drink and friendly staff

I was disappointed on this visit. The food was good but not exceptional. What really let the whole experience down was the service. Robotic, indifferent and unsmilinig. Shame really as it's normally good but we all have off day, but not maybe in the service industry
