The Rear Window Restaurant in Waltham Forest

Fuimos a cenar a mitad de semana (no nos alojamos en el hotel ya que vivimos en la zona). Probablemente hace 15 años desde la última vez que visité el Hitchcock, y no estaba muy ocupado. El menú es corto, pero la comida era muy buena y buena relación calidad-precio (recomiendo el schnitzel de pollo en particular). La gama habitual de bebidas estaba en el bar, y nos aferramos a la cerveza. El servicio fue muy bueno, y el gerente del restaurante, Josh, tiene una buena manera de construir relación con los clientes

Visité con mi esposa para nuestro aniversario de boda y no podríamos haber sido atendidos mejor. Una botella de champán en el sol de la tarde afuera, luego en una gran comida de 3 platos en el impresionante comedor. Todo el personal era amable y atento, la comida era genial y la factura era muy razonable para lo que teníamos. No puedo creer que hemos vivido en la zona durante más de 10 años y esta es nuestra primera visita! No será el último.

Ok. Lo positivo primero. Las bolas de arancini y los entrantes de la panza de cerdo son fantásticos. Muy, muy sabroso. La habitación en sí también es un lugar encantador para estar y la música era impresionante. Por eso el 2 estrellas y no el 1. Los negativos. Solo había otras 2 mesas comiendo, lo que significaba que había cero atmósfera. Tampoco encendieron ninguna luz cuando empezó a oscurecer afuera. Básicamente estuvimos sentados en negro claro durante la última hora de la cena. Pega una vela en la mesa al menos! En cuanto a la comida, 3 de las cosas que queríamos del menú no estaban disponibles. No es genial, pero estas cosas pasan. Pedimos 3 cosas para comenzar, pero cuando salieron, 1 de los artículos era incorrecto, lo que significa que no recibimos toda nuestra comida al mismo tiempo. Muy molesto. ¿Por qué no esperar más a que el personal escriba las cosas? ¡Claramente no puedes recordar un pedido! Para el principal pedí el filete y papas fritas de trufa. Había solicitado el medio de carne, venía muy bien hecho. ¡Simplemente no le preguntes a la gente cómo les gustaría que se hiciera si lo vas a cocinar como te gusta! Las trufas ‘chips de horno’ fueron básicamente fritas a una pulgada de sus vidas. ¡Era como comer aceite solidificado! No es genial. Tampoco había sal y pimienta en la mesa y el personal de camareros no estaba cerca en absoluto! (¡Más sobre eso después!) Pedí el vino pinet que era encantador, vergüenza por el vidrio astillado y agrietado que entró! De postre pedí el brownie con helado. El helado se había derretido cuando llegó y el brownie estaba claramente congelado y había vuelto a la vida en el microondas. Muy seco y microondas caliente! No es agradable. También pedí un whisky irlandés que nunca vino. A pesar de solo otras 2 mesas, el servicio era lamentablemente malo. El personal de camareros no se veía por ninguna parte... hasta que nos fuimos y vimos lo que supongo que era el gerente en el frente del lugar bebiendo con sus amigos! Encantador. Una experiencia horrible. No voy a volver. ¡Estoy asumiendo que ese es el consenso común, por lo que el lugar estaba vacío un sábado por la noche! Qué pena ya que somos locales y habría vuelto regularmente. ¡Los propietarios claramente se han rendido!

Fuimos en pareja por una noche libre bien ganada siendo mamá y papá. Llegamos a una bienvenida amable por el personal a medida que entramos y el buen servicio continuó, nos dieron la atención y el espacio necesario. El menú es atractivo, y la comida llegó perfectamente cocinada y sabía muy bien. Soy un gilipollas quisquilloso y no lo diría si fuera solo promedio, así que juego limpio al chef (s). En términos de servicio y comida, estaban en su punto.

Tuvimos alquiler exclusivo de The Rear View Restaurant y Alfred’s bar de la calle para nuestra comida de boda y recepción de la noche en mayo de 2024. Fue la experiencia más PERFECTA de principio a fin y todavía tengo (algunos muy difíciles de complacer! ) amigos delirando sobre la calidad de la comida y el servicio proporcionado por Ruth y su equipo. Fue exactamente como esperaba y más. Si está considerando un lugar de recepción, le recomiendo encarecidamente. Bodas imho puede ser bastante golpeado y perder en la calidad de los alimentos y servicios proporcionados, pagando altos costos por alimentos de calidad mediocre. Aquí no. Me ofrecieron una variedad de opciones de menú a diferentes puntos de precio, sin embargo Ruth fue realmente útil para facilitar cualquier cambio que necesitábamos o acomodar nuestras elecciones específicas . El menú en el que nos instalamos era sublime y tenía invitados emocionados incluso antes de probarlo! En la degustación superó las expectativas de servicio de 60 personas. Hermosa comida, entregada por expertos. El servicio fue excepcional, desde el champán y las ostras a la llegada , un servicio de cena amigable pero puntual (las copas de vino se llenaron como magia antes de que siquiera supieras que lo necesitabas ! ) hasta los últimos pedidos de una pista de baile bastante alegre, servida con una sonrisa hasta el final ! En cuanto al precio, se le podría cobrar mucho más en otros lugares y no recibir la mitad de la calidad que experimentamos. Gracias , gracias , gracias , Ruth y su equipo por proporcionarnos un día y una noche maravillosos que nunca olvidaremos 💕

Limited menu. Had run out of food by the time of our booking despite having only three main courses to start with. No hot desserts just ice cream. No indoor lounge area for drinks.

We’ve been 4 times now, food is always excellent. Sunday Roasts, Thai Green Curries, Burgers, Korean Ribs, Salads. All excellent, lovely interiors, great service, nice atmosphere.

A family outing for my parents 56th wedding anniversary. 3 vegetarians out of 7 of us, we all found something tasty to eat, mixing starters and sides and mains. It was a lovely setting, such a surprise to go out the back, bright and cheerful. We had a long, leisurely lunch, very attentively looked after. A lovely and delicious experience!

The food was tasty & well presented, my only criticism was that it could have been hotter when it got to me. The staff were attentive and keen to give us a pleasurable experience. I would definitely eat there again. Thank you for a lovely roast dinner and letting us sit and chat for 3 hours!!!

Bit of a pilgrimage. I had a "Marnie", their take on a Margherita, rest traditional cocktails, all excellent. Magnificent restaurant. Knowledgeable waitress, moonlighting from Whipps Cross next door, explained that fans were relatively few. Modern filmgoers not interested? Troubles with Tippi Hendren? Who knows? Food & service could not've been better. Our baby needed his bed, so missed the jazz. Too bad. We'll be back.

My wife and I had been out and decided to have a quick drink, before heading home. We was going to go to my local, but we were passing the Alfred Hitchcock so I suggested we head in there. It has been a while since we last went, and it’s clearly been given a makeover, the bar looks nice. We decided to have a bite to eat as well but nothing took our fancy, and it did expensive for what and where it was. We ordered burgers, but had to pay for a separate portion of chips, something that really annoys me, and a fiver to boot. Anyway, the burgers were nice, the chips, well you couldn’t have had a smaller portion if you tried (50p per chip, sad but true), but this 2 pints and a white wine spritzer came to nearly £60, which is a joke. Staff were pleasant, but I’m afraid we’ll never be returning. As an extra note, my wife is waiting for a knee replacement. The toilets are downstairs, and my wife wanted to use them but wasn’t able too, and, the car park wasn’t very well lit, and very uneven, and again wasn’t perfect for my wife. So anyone with walking difficulties beware.

We went for a themed night - A conversation with Suggs from Madness. Suggs was on a little stage interviewed by Ruth, the restaurant manager, brilliantly done and hysterically funny. (I now have bragging rights that I spoke to Suggs). I had a proper Mojito in the cosy cocktail bar, hubbie had a Guinness. Then we were helped into the beautiful sparkly, with tree, dinning room and sprawled in one of the cute booths. I had very pretty fresh plump oysters to start, huge prawns with a spicy dipping sauce for the main and an omg lovely gooey chocolate thing for pudding. (Perfect presentation for instagram photos etc) We had a bottle of the house white and I had another glass of white later, lovely. All the staff are shiny, happy and super efficient 🥰

I visited with my husband and daughter at approximately 1.30. the menu on the front gate is different to the one we were given, we were given the brunch menu. my daughter is vegetarian and there was no choice for her, she ended up with a salad starter which consisted of lettuce and a few croutons. they are quite expensive in my opinion we paid 14.95 for a chicken burger which didn't come with anything, chips were 5.00 extra and you dont get many of those. overall the food was ok but nothing special. I tried to access the menus online but was unable to. although its a very nice looking place inside and out I dont think I will be going there again.

I wish this restaurant was more central - the converted pub has a wonderful atmosphere and a great menu. It's on the pricier side but it's worth it to have a nicer restaurant in the area.

We stayed at the Hitchcock hotel and dined at the Rear Window restaurant both days. The food was great, Sunday roast sensational and the service from Filby was the best we have had in weeks of travelling. A definite positive experience that we would be happy to repeat.

Thanks to good old Instagram, I was tempted into trying this place. Well, I was blown away by the warmth and professionalism of the service. The dining room is delightful. The brunch menu is classic and simple and all the produce we had on our plates was good quality. I had scrambled eggs and salmon and it was just perfect. The cocktails were excellent. I will be back again very soon and also for dinner. Note: The view from the "rear window" is not the best (a car park!) but that didn't spoil the ambience, especially because I had my back to it.

What a lovely venue. We didn’t know what to expect but were really pleasantly surprised. Everything was cooked to perfection and it feels like a great choice for a special occasion because of how beautiful the restaurant is. It is also nearby to the boating lake if you visit during the daytime. The staff were absolutely lovely and so helpful. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

I think this place is really special. 3rd or 4th time here and have such fun every time. Great for an occasion / birthday etc. I love the tuna ceviche and ribs (starters). Absolutely stunning place with a magnificent staff! It is a beautiful hidden jem and a must go to for cocktails and/or food! Incredible food and the atmosphere whether you are at the bar, restaurant or outside seating it’s always great and always a great time!!
