Known as The Rat locally we were recommended to this bar by the barman in our hotel. So glad we visited. A real find and old school in the best sense. The beers were interesting with samples freely available until we found beers to our taste. The 'owner' manager was perfect for her venue and we were lucky in that there were an eclectic group of Midlander's who added value, conversation, anecdote and beer suggestions to our visit. This is an experience to be repeated next time we're in Bewdley

Our 5th visit to Bewdley. Last visit 2nd Sept for a week. Always call in here. Good selection of real ales and ciders, however have noticed decline in number of selection available. Has "The 100 Club" gone? Never really had "tavern" atmosphere (especially as you are haunted!), we feel, because of the decor, more like a dated sitting room! (owners...have you seen The Little Pack Horse up the road? Now that feels like a tavern). May get you more punters!

The staff was friendly and the beer was excellent, but the reason why 3 stars is because the cheese and onion cob was very expensive at £3 25p while all the other black country pubs are £2 50p, at the Vine in Wednesfield all the cobs are £2 50p plus 3 slices of black pudding. It might be cheaper to buy food from other hospitality places around the town.

We popped in here for a couple of drinks (on a Saturday) whilst staying in Bewdley for a few days. From the outside you assume it’s going to be a very small pub, but don’t be fooled there’s plenty of room inside with a whole array of real ales and lagers available along with spirits and wines to choose from. The staff were friendly and efficient and the whole atmosphere of the pub was really welcoming. Would highly recommend the Real Ale House.

Popped into Bewdley for a birthday treat as I hadn’t been for many years, saw this pub and popped in, Very warm welcome, not a real ale drinker myself more the grape than the hop, but loved to see the interesting names of the beers and Black Country favourites, Spied the pork pies and had to try, … wonderful, presented on a little wooden board with mustard or pickle, sausage rolls and cobs as well, Really lovely pub, open fire which was so cosy for a Sunday winter birthday treat, Just felt so homely as old fashioned pubs used to be, lovely xx

My husband and I travelled to this pub to see a clairvoyant night, yesterday, and being from sutton coldfield, it was our first time visiting this pub, and safe to say , we didnt like it.The clairvoyant was very good, which we highly enjoyed, and i will definitely have a reading off him sometime, however the pub was too narrow so the poor clairvoyant had to walk to each table. The staff were rude to me when i tried to order a drink before the show, gave me dirty looks etc. When were about to leave the pub however, we found the owner outside arguing with the clairvoyant, which i thought was very unprofessional. I coundn't wait to leave. Will not be returning as there are way better pubs in Bewdley.

No where on there Google overview does it mention that children are not allowed 🚫 no where on the door...? So obviously when we entered desperately in need of shelter from the cold & rain we wanted to have a nice drink and feed my daughter both kids were in a double buggy and no trouble at all. But unfortunately we were told immediately we wasn't welcome no help in saying where is family friendly. The pub allows dogs but not children there should be information on these policies before entering what a shame.

Stumbled across this place yesterday and what a treat it was! Fantastic welcome from the staff as soon as I approached the bar. I’m not a huge ale drinker so they were able to talk me through which beers might suit what I like. Had a couple of tasters which were lovely and my pint was spot on. Got a bit peckish so also had a ham cob - really really good! Nice proper butcher ham and a fresh cob. Amazed at the new roof terrace, what a nice spot! Looking forward to returning in the summer. They have a no children policy so it was very refreshing to be able to relax without children running around or making noise. Will definitely return, can’t recommend enough!

How I love it when there is so much choice I just don't know what to try. This place presented me with that "problem" but I still managed to cope. It was quiet when I was there and was a comfortable relaxed environment and something I appreciated was being asked what I though of my choices of beer, it just showed really good attention to service. The fact that it is a pub with an adult only clientele was a real plus point for me.

Last Sunday we walked along the river as a family with the dog from Stourport to Bewdley. We’ve used this pub a few times as a couple but on this occasion we had our son who is almost 19 and daughter nearly 16 with us. We walked in the only table free was right at the back of the pub which was fine. Took our coats off and asked the kids what they wanted to drink and went towards the bar. We were met by the landlord who politely asked us to leave saying no children are allowed. We have been to many pubs and our very quiet daughter is almost 16 so although we hadn’t seen the notice we don’t really think of her as being a child she’d have sat quietly in the corner with a glass of Diet Coke. I’ve since been told it’s no children under 14 I’m not sure if that is correct or not. We went round the corner to The Mug House and we were welcome there.
