We reserved 3 bedrooms on the first floor ahead of a family wedding. Rambler’s Rest is a delightful place to stay with large bedrooms all ensuite.(there’s an additional bedroom on the ground floor and sure that is lovely too!). High quality furniture, excellent beds, great showers, tea/coffee making etc with fresh milk and water supplied stored in a fridge on the landing. Breakfast is optional (but do have it!) and and served in the tea room downstair. All faultless and everyone welcoming and thoroughly recommended. The Gait pub over the road also equally as lovely for evening food/great beer etc.

Visited while staying nearby on a recommendation, The tearoom is licensed & in the small village of Millington, it has a small car park & also rooms available. On stepping inside we were immediately charmed, it is so cosy & virtually unchanged from its days as a farmhouse with large range fires in each room. We had tea & cakes, mine was a scone which I can honestly say was the best scone I have ever had, & I’ve had a fair few! So light & fresh with homemade strawberry jam & fresh strawberries, the rest of my party enjoyed their cakes too, I will definitely be returning here, we spent a very pleasant couple of hours & can highly recommend this lovely place

After a walk in the area, a friend and I decided on a stop here. We have been before. The homemade soup is delicious and the rarebit absolutely scrumptious. After much dithering, we decided to ask if we could have one of each to share. They couldn't have been any nicer. We shared a soup and a rarebit. They even split the salad and crisps. As we were on a roll we chanced our luck and even shared a fantastic toffee ice cream meringue dessert. Heavenly. They were so nice, almost as delightful as the food. What a place!!

First visit a little disappointed . We have wanted to try this little cafe for years always seem to be there when they’re closed. Ordered a tortilla wrap and received a soft bred bun instead? Nothing was said at all on ordering. My husband enjoyed the homemade vegetable soup again with a very pale poor quality brown (?) bread roll. Ladies who served us were lovely. Will book next time as no tables inside but lovely autumn sunshine.

Called in for a late lunch after a beautiful walk in the area. Ordered the Ramblers’ Rarebit which was delicious - rarebit topping melted over 2 thick slices of Yorkshire ham with salad and crisps. Service was excellent and very thorough Covid safety measures were in place. We ate outside under an awning that completely protected us from the weather. I would thoroughly recommend this tea room for lunch or afternoon tea.

We visited on a cold, damp Saturday lunchtime after a walk in nearby Millington Woods. We had seen it previously when it was closed mid-week, so we were glad to see it open on this occasion. The cafe seems popular with walkers and cyclists. The tearoom itself was still closed due to Covid restrictions but the outside area was all open.We had to register for ‘track’ and trace in the porch before choosing a table outside and giving our order. The chalkboards were full of cakes and scones so we were unsure if there was anything else on offer. However the man in front ordered an egg sandwich so we decided there was a wider menu even though we did not see it. We ordered a bacon sandwich each and a hot drink. The covered area of tables was full but fortunately we had chosen a table with a large umbrella as the heavens opened after the driest April on record! We managed to stay dry although it was freezing cold! Our hot drinks and sandwiches were VERY welcome indeed! The bread rolls were full of tasty crispy bacon. The toilet was open to use with plenty of hand sanitiser available. We would definitely return if in the village again.

Went on Sunday afternoon for coffee and cake . The interior has been closed off and you have to order at a makeshift hatch and eat outside in the car park. Part of the car park has been cordoned off with barrier tape because the clicky shoe Lycra fraternity struggle to read and keep parking their bikes on the neighbours wall . Most tables do have some form of umbrella but not pleasant when it’s cool and raining. Cakes are as good as ever but paper cups and plates diminish the experience . No doubt well intended Covid measures but a little excessive.

On a very long cycle ride we happened across the Ramblers Rest and it proved the perfect place to rest and refuel. We sat outdoors which has been set up to be socially distanced, the staff seemed switched on to covid risks (eg all masked up, lots of sanitiser etc) and we sat under a large umbrella which protected us against the rain. Welsh rarebit has never tasted so good, and the scone was unbelievably light and fluffy. The staff were polite and attentive. I'd definitely make this a stop on a future outing and would even detour here specifically for their food!

My partner and I visited after a nice walk on Sunday. We ordered a hot chocolate, coffee and slice of lemon drizzle. As the waitress brought out the order I told her we ordered coffee and not tea, she responded with an attitude telling me I ordered tea and it was on the ticket order. Moments later she returned outside to a different table and explained to them that she gave us, their order. If it wasn’t for my partner calling her over she wouldn’t have even told us this. We then proceeded to ask for the coffee that we ordered and paid for, which we were then told we would have to pay for the tea as well! In the end we didn’t have to but the attitude was awful. Anyone would think the tea and order was being paid for out of her wage! I’ve had better customer service from a robot answer machine. No people skills, no manners and very basic. Will not be returning!

My only critique (why I didnt give five stars) is my husband could have nothing to eat as he's a vegan and the man serving said there was nothing for him. Bearing in mind they have a statement on their menu saying they would cater for different diets/allergies etc. it didnt seem v helpful to leave out vegans. A vegan cake is easy to make. Whether you've just finished a walk (e.g. part of Wolds Way), are part-way through a walk.. or just passing through in the car this is a neat place to stop (assuming you don't want a pub stop... that's just a few dozen yards along the road)...Good coffee, interesting and tasty selection of cakes and they also seemed to do great ice cream, too. Friendly and welcoming service. From what I could see... it's Walker friendly. Cyclist friendly. Dog friendly. Definitely a nice place to finish up at after a day in the glorious outdoors.

We visited last Saturday on a warm April day lots of walkers and cyclists using the cafe, The meal was served quickly very nicely presented and tasted wonderful Real tasty ham with salad and crisps, The waitress was quick and efficient but a slight slower. Pace would have been much better than rushing off before we could answer if we had enjoyed the meal, and a smile would have made it perfect.

At the end of a 6 mile wander in the Wolds with my dog the delicious cream tea at The Ramblers Rest was the perfect reward. The menu for full meals looked amazing too. Sadly, if you have a dog, you will have to sit outside.

Love the place as consistently great food and good service. The dining room has a nice charm about it and is tastefully done. Was there on Sunday in glorious weather so sat outside to eat a very tasty salad with black pudding and my partner had home made salmon pate which I'll probably have on my next visit. Definitely worth giving a try.

Unfortunately we were let down by the ramblers rest. We did a great walk from bishop Wilton to millington on Friday and hoped for a nice refreshment after walking for two hours. We arrived at 14:15 to find it closed even though the board advertised it as open until 4. Gutted. If walking there make sure you call ahead to check as millington has no phone signal!!!

We have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. The food and presentation are of a high standard and the service is always efficient. The cafe is beautifully presented with lots of solid wood and open fires in winter.

Nice location in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds in Millington; just off the Yorkshire Wolds Way. Welcoming roaring fires and handsomely decorated - very cosy feel. Perfect place for a good cup of tea and cake after a day's walking. Extensive selection of teas available, cakes and scones too. There is a specials board for meals. All in all, nothing to fault. Good value for money too. Note, the premises are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - open all other days. Highly recommended; would return again when walking in the Pocklington area.

Thank you to Angela and her team for last night's excellent meal. From the welcoming fizz through the delicious starter, mains and desserts the whole evening, the ambiance, the food and the service was perfect. It was appreciated that Angela adjusted the dessert for my wife and for the gluten free requirements of our neighbouring diners. So mention your likes dislikes and allergiesIf you know of the quality fare served here during daytime for walkers and others you will not be surprised to hear the above. The evening events are reserved for groups but on Valentine's they open, unsurprisingly perhaps, for couples! If you haven't been, go!

A favourite haunt of my wife and friends, I was allowed to take her for lunch recently and I was most impressed. Not a vast menu but all most acceptable, freshly cooked and nicely presented. The staff were absolutely fine, attentive and friendly without going over the top. A most pleasant cafe/restaurant, I'm sure she'll let me take her again!

This two roomed tea room is heated by large blazing fires which provide a really welcoming atmosphere when you open the door into this beautifully decorated venue. The large range in the room we chose to sit in was stunning, and this was matched by the tea and toasted teacake that I selected from the menu. Lashings of butter oozed across the perfectly browned, fruit strewn bread. Gorgeous. The tea was very nice too, as were the pleasant and helpful staff. Immaculately clean and pleasing to the eye, this tea stop is definitely worth a return visit to sample more fayre. A small selection of local cards and produce adorn the area close to the till for walkers of the Yorkshire Wolds Way to purchase and tell their friends that they will need to complete the 79 mile walk in order to walk off the delights of this country establishment.Well worth hunting out!

This is a delightful little tearoom / cafe. It is quiet, comfortable, cosy, and very welcoming. The food is delicious, the menu is simple but very adequate and the atmosphere very relaxing. One of East Yorkshires little treasures. A autumn afternoon by the fireside with a delicious lunch - excellent.

From the outside this place is a little uninspiring but a friend had recommended the cake so we thought we would give it a go . Inside is completely different , beautifully decorated , modern country feel . Spotlessly clean and tastefully arranged . Unfortunately the service did not live up to the exceptionally good first indoor impression . There were two members of staff , both unfriendly to the point of being cold and making my companion feel terribly uncomfortable . The tea was very nice , although surely a lovely little tea shop should offer sugar cubes rather than packet sugar. The cake was very nice and there was plenty of choice . The lunch menu looked delicious and had the welcome been better we would certainly have returned .

Warm fire greets you inside this fabulous place. Food is always hearty and good range to choose from plus specials. Never made it as far as a cake but these are proper Yorkshire portions. Good coffee and plenty of additional hot water to top up the pots. Staff always friendly. We keep returning so it must be good.

We stopped in on a Tuesday late afternoon. There was only one table occupied so it was nice and quiet. We both had double scoop cones. There were loads of ice cream flavours to choose from. Yummy.

First visit to this lovely little restaurant to celebrate 🍾 both Mother’s Day and my wife's 60th birthday and we were not disappointed! The setting in the window table with background music and plenty of space was perfect. We ate off the a la carte menu and we both had three courses complimented by a bottle of fizz. Each course was food heaven and the service was exceptional so we will be returning for the Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday in April. Thank you

We booked into the lodges next to the Gardeners Inn and decided to walk around for dinner & drinks. The venue is decorated for Halloween which I did enjoy and we had a lovely welcome from the waitress. A few item were sold out but the menu was plentiful and the food did not disappoint. I had the sizzling hunters chicken and my partner had Korean Chicken. Portion size was fantastic the side salad & slaw was fresh, definitely the best hunters chicken I’ve had. Banoffee Pie & cream for dessert again it was better than any other I’ve tried. Lovely atmosphere, service time felt right for the number of tables eating and the price was reasonable. Would recommend 100%
