Nice outdoor area. Unfortunately the meal was let down somewhat by the food, which consisted of meat/ fish which was barely discernible in flavour from the brightly coloured sauces - quite underwhelming.

We were camping locally and walked to the village for a curry at The Railway Inn. We had a really lovely meal, best curry I've had in a long time. The food was really delicious and the staff attentive and obliging. Would strongly recommend!

I am absolutely disgusted with customer service of this restaurant, specially when the manager speaks to you like crap! I would definitely not recommend this place AT ALL!!! 🤬 I cannot get my head the way the main manager had spoken to myself, and could given offer a goodwill.

Trevor and Sam are the new wonderful and welcoming owners of the Railway Inn and Tandoori. Our party of around 25 had the most amazing selection of really superb starters and curries in the restaurant, followed by a relaxing time in the cosy traditional bar, with lovely log fires, below. (Now watching out for the monthly music nights too!)

This is our go to for a takeaway curry and it’s arguably the best one! We have throughly enjoyed every meal from here and we are particularly impressed that they offer paneer as an option in most (if not all?) of their curries which is great for me as a vegetarian who doesn’t always want the vegetable curry option. Everything is always spot on. 🖤

Six friends, two of us new to the area said we’d give The Railway a bash. Firstly, what a lovely warm welcome. So friendly and accommodating. Drinks were offered to be taken upstairs but we declined (nice gesture). The restaurant itself is warm and cosy, easily sets a good vibe. The lady who owns the restaurant and who took our order couldn’t have been more helpful. Attentive, witty, informative. We ordered lots, and I mean lots, curious to come away with a well rounded opinion of our first outing. All dishes were great, a few stand out fantastic but I’ll let you discover for yourselves. At last a proper curry restaurant that’s not 15 miles away! Absolutely 100% recommended. Go discover!!

Ordered takeaway, took 90 minutes to arrive with correct receipt attached to wrong bag of food, advised it was kitchen mistake with fresh food being cooked and sent immediately but still took 45 minutes. Not first time this has happened but never an entire order, usually odd bit missing we ignore as food good but tonight unacceptable. Advise check order on delivery.

Fancied a curry but live 10 miles away from this restaurant. Had one delivered.. they recommended chicken Jamal a chef special. I asked for it to be medium hot. They didn’t disappoint ! It arrived piping hot! I couldn’t believe how hot! Beautiful flavours. Generous portion. Delicate pilau rice.. just superb. Highly recommend.

A quaint small tandoori above The Railway pud in Newnham. Alcohol is ordered and brought from the pub, our red wine arrived and as if it had been stored in the fridge but when I pointed out it was cold and could we please have an ice bucket full of hot water, they were more than happy to oblige. The Sheek Kebab is spot on and as for the Tandoori Chicken, it's "probably the best I've had" said Hubby. The Chicken Pakora batter was more like chip shop batter, they're huge by the way! Playing Heart Radio is not a great sound for a Tandoori Restaurant, please can we have more authentic music? Portions are large, food is good and fresh with lovely friendly staff. The pub downstairs is a lovely traditional British pub frequented by locals, always a good sign. The

I have been staying in a holiday rental this week and the pub food around has not been that great so I have had two take aways this week from here and both have been excellent. I had two lots of operator issues when ordering and both times the Railway Tandoori were super helpful. The food is excellent and I would definitely recommend! I think the food is one level up from a normal take away.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Gloucestershire. A superb restaurant design with welcoming hosts! The menu boasts several amazing, unique dishes that can't be found elsewhere. It's very hard to fault The Railway Tandoori. A swift, reliable food delivery service is also available across the Forest of Dean district.

Wow! my first impressions. A wonderful romantic and intimate restaurant room above the historic and busy Railway Inn in Newnham! We (my wife and I) ordered three dishes * Captain Jamal - wonderful delightfully herby meal recommended for those who just want a nice winter hearty curry (not too spicey!) I thought one of the best curry dishes i have ever had 8/10 * Railway Inn Special- hot spicey curry which carries a flavour that remains within you well into the evening. Simply amazing! 9.5/10 * Stuffed curry lamb---- 10/10 I thought the last one could not be beaten but this was superb! Tenderest lamb that falls off the bone. The curry does not hit you immediately. You enjoy the lamb which its flavour... then a burst of curry a few minutes later. It was the best curry dish i ever had and I ate it all on a full stomach! Then their is the light music and ambience. Its hidden- I like that. above the pub. But there is a sound system, soft music and the view onto the street. A wonderful experience all around! I look forward to regular visits during the colder seasons!! Good luck to the head chef of Railway Tandoori!!
