Excellent community owned pub with a fine selection of beers and cider, will return if I'm in Saffron Walden once again.

Absolutely fabulous evening. The Hooligans, an Irish themed band , created an amazing atmosphere. Clearly that had an enthusiastic following. From young and old everyone was enjoying themselves. The food and drink were excellent and the bar service was quick and cheerful. A great time was had by all.

Lovely pub recently refurbished , inside has the old pub feel , locally sourced gin, variety of local beers and ciders . Beer garden is huge and has been renovated to an exceptional standard .

Lovely pub, lovely garden, lovely atmosphere. The 'Onion' burgers from the pop up van were also lovely.

What a great pub. Huge modern beer garden which is amazing. Great selection of drinks at very reasonable prices due to it being community owned. Very friendly place.

Everything you expect from your community owned pub and more. Wide range of beer, cider and other drinks. Guest food truck was there last night, excellent burger and I had the chicken wrap, also perfect. It is there all weekend,Give it a try!

Popped in for a pint and was very, very pleased I did. A good selection of real ales and the 3 we tried were perfect. New River, London Tap and Buntingford's Riwaka Station were excellent. Good selection of still ciders and Inch's cider if you prefer the fizz! The pub was quiet, but not surprising being a Tuesday in mid-January!! Service though was quick and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Best pub in Walden. Gets very busy on a Friday evening but it's worth going anyway. Community pub with good selection of beers and Railway Ale outstandingly good value (and it tastes excellent:-) Plentiful staff behind the bar when it's busy. Good, large beer garden and other outside space, some of which is being worked on as this review is being written. Great in the summer, also very good in the winter! Dog-friendly to boot:-)

The Rail, saved from becoming housing through community action, is always a fun place. People are friendly, the landlord is friendly, the prices are modest, and the atmosphere is, well, friendly! The crew standing on our side of the bar will always be welcoming, and so will the staff. Saffron Walden's favourite pub!

The Railway Arms is an excellent example of a community pub - great value with a friendly welcome. Good to see such an age range enjoying their night out. Wish I lived closer !

Fully deserving of a 5🌟 review. Lovely staff (Margaret and Amy ? on the day) super friendly local customers and great quality real ale / cider (own cider produced on the premises). Pub has lots of interesting pictures / items etc relating to the closed railway station and community take over - pub is owned by local shareholders. Can't fault the place - best pub in Saffron Walden. Nice garden too, still being developed but great as it is 👍. Loved my visit thank you staff and the customers I chatted with, Matty x

Great pub. Great garden. Great interior. Great beer. Superbly kept beer inside. There was a beer festival on outside which offered even more choice.

Kleines England auf Rügen 🤗 wir haben dort nur etwas getrunken, sind aber superfreundlich und schnell bedient worden. ✌ Es gibt dort vieles zu sehen und englische Produkte zu kaufen. Wir haben uns englische Orangenmarmelade mitgenommen, die sehr lecker ist. Die Burger sollen auch sehr gut sein. Geh einfach mal hin und probier es LG Susanne 😎🌻

Came here on a Thursday to enjoy porchetta and rotisserie chicken from Rotisseroll! Fantastic food and a great cider! Good choice of gins too!

A community pub with a friendly atmosphere where you can guarantee a good pint (Wylde Sky and Captain Bob on tap currently), good banter and some great music from local acts 🎵 🎙️

I am a big fan of this community pub. The Landlord, Graham really looks after his customers. I enjoy the Railway Arms Ale that costs just £3.40. It's dog friendly and everyone, customers and staff are so friendly.

Great pub for a beer but avoid at all costs for food . Sunday lunch was so bad the worst dinner ive ever had and it was £15 for a meal that really was awful.

Lovely community owned public house in saffron walden

Very poor and disappointing, went in as a stop on our pub golf/pub crawl, verbally abused by both the staff and other customers due to our challenge of not speaking to each other for this pub, just trying to bring some laughter in these dark times. Staff were rude and overall not an enjoyable experience. Will not be returning

By far the worst pub in the whole of Walden, they are all rude it's clear that tem is top tier

What a fabulous pub Lovely atmosphere great selection of beers most from local craft breweries. Great outdoor seating areas. Will definitely be back just a shame I'm not more local as this pub would make a fantastic local .

Very pleasant pub, saved from development and run by the locals, so bravo for that. We had a couple of drinks for my birthday one weekday lunchtime. My only criticism is that apparently, they don't play any music in the background so it was as quiet as the grave.

Excellent. Community run pub with a community feel. 5 beers on offer when I called: the one I chose was in absolutely superb condition.

The local community did a great job saving this historic and friendly pub. Some great beers, great evening entertainment and can be equally quiet, or busy, depending on the day I will come back and review once I've tried a few meals.

Thank God it was saved! Better than most of the pubs in saffron Walden.

Greatest pub that I've experienced for cask ale in terms of quality and local provenance. Always a fantastic choice of real ales from Essex and neighbouring counties. Warm, friendly welcome and good atmosphere.

The Pumphouse 19 Elms last night must rank as one of the finest Best Bitters I have drunk. Sublime. This pub just goes on getting better, and has the friendliest locals you could find. I may have to move to Saffron Walden.

Nice traditional pub with a relatively good atmosphere, Although I think they should introduce a Mexico night (like the plough (all praise be to the plough)) to have more young people in the pub!

Lovely outdoor space at the moment, accompanied with really friendly service and very reasonable prices for the area. Very excited to see what's to come from the Railway Arms. Truly a beautiful testament to what a cohesive community can achieve!
