The Queen's Head, Finghall in Richmondshire

Called in for a pint great talking to the landlord and looking around his M5 competition car loved it

Thurs eve. Pub visit. Drinks and food. Good value. Comfortable atmosphere. Was a walk-in at about 7.15pm, so we had to wait for about an hour for food. Would suggest you phone in advance and book a table if you want the comfort of knowing you'll get served.

We had lunch here today after a walk with our dog on “The Shawl” Faultless service from friendly staff. A good choice of food. I settled for the steak and ale pie with superb chips while my companion had the chicken salad. This was followed by excellent deserts- panna cotta with spiced plums and salted caramel cheesecake. All made on the premises and yummy. Would thoroughly recommend the pub and we will know where to come for a lunch next time we are in the area. Dogs welcomed in bar area to left of front door. Bob enjoyed his titbits too!

Very attractive pub with friendly staff and a nice selection of drinks. I imagine the carpet design might be slightly dizzying after you've had a few.

We only called in "for a swift one" whilst out on a walk from the nearby log cabin in which we are staying. Service was prompt and polite, and we managed a seat easily despite not eating in. Didn't get to see the whole of the pub, but what we did see we were under the impression that it was more geared up for a dining experience. Whatever the aim was it appeared to be working. Very, very busy with a hugh footfall of customers. All the chatter from nearby tables about the food, staff and service was very positive.

Honest review. New Years Eve"s . Meal was lovely . Very over priced though. Live band not subtible for New Years Eve . Would have been better with a dj disco .

This is an old village pub that has a more modern restaurant extension. Really great atmosphere and good food.

Walking through the main entrance, you arrive at a fantastic little cosy pub that transforms into a fully fledged open plan dining room as you pass through to the rear of the venue. We enjoyed a drink in the pub area whilst browsing the menu before heading through to dine. The staff were super friendly, which made us feel very welcome. Service was great throughout. They had the foresight to take our 2 person order in advance of 2 other larger tables which prevented a long wait for our food. Much appreciated 👏🏻 The food didn't quite live up to expectations, but I had no complaints. Everything was fine, but the steak pie lacked depth of flavour in the gravy, hence the 4 🌟. Lou's moussaka was quite tasty but, again, lacked a bit of umphfff. 4🌟 is a fair reflection as they have opportunity to improve on the quality of the food but I would happily return as we got value for money.

Staying locally for a few days and tried the take out Sunday lunch menu! Absolutely amazing, the beef was cooked to perfection! The best Sunday roast I've had EVER! The garlic mushrooms for starter were just amazing and well the orange sponge dessert again Amazing!!! Thank you 😊

We didn't stay at the hotel but we stopped in and ate at the restaurant. I have to say the food and service was incredible! Best lasagne I've ever had (I've had a lot of lasagne!). We had great mains and desserts, great service and price. We stayed nearby for the weekend and just went here because it was close to where we were staying, so glad we just went for it. Can't fault it, if we're ever back that way - we'll be back! Smashing

New owners have certainly made a huge difference. The pub and newly refurbished restaurant and private dining room are fantastic. We were greeted on a cold lunchtime by two roaring fires and an excellent menu. The food was top class and one of our party said the ginger pudding dessert was the best he had ever had. Highly recommend the Queens Head.

Fantastic pub, great food and a good selection of beers, staff are friendly and nothing is a problem if you are in the area it's a must try pub.

A menu that says “we cook all of these things really well, this is why they’re on there” is what you want at any pub or restaurant. This is what The Queens Head does. Service is excellent by the way so don’t forget about this! The menu forgets about some pub classics (burgers and fish & chips) but makes up for it with some other dishes that are cooked to some of the best ‘pub food’ quality you’ll find. The flavours were exceptional in all of the dishes, seasoned really well and with huge ‘Yorkshire’ portions all round, what more is there to want? After recent visits to Hetton and Harome, pubs and great food are the essence of my life. This one is excellent and let it be known! It isn’t The Angel or The Star and it isn’t trying to be but we will absolutely be back to The Queens Head because what it and the team does, is brilliant and delicious. Oh, and the views are pretty decent too! Keep up the great work team.

Lovely room staff friendly all in all a good place to stay

Absolutely fantastic food and great service. The treacle and ginger sponge was possibly the best pudding I've ever had - and I eat a lot of puddings. One of the highlights of our holiday!

I love this pub and have been going to it a good few years when staying in leyburn. The place is quintessential of an old village yorkshire pub with great food and great locals that drink there.

Myself and my family ate here on New Year's day and it was one of the best meals I have ever had! The food served here is divine. Fantastic selection of ales and the staff are helpful and very friendly. Lovely little village and a beautiful pub throughout. We will definitely be back here soon!

We loved it here! We booked on New Year's Day. The ladies behind the bar, cooking & serving our food were so welcoming & friendly. The bar looked cosy & rustic but unfortunately was full. We had a table in the restaurant with great views. The food was plentiful and tasty. Great value for money. We'll definitely return and grab a table in the bar!
