A large portion of chips is enough for a small family, the gravy has a very traditional taste, and when it come to fish, they have Cod Haddock and Plaice on the menu so something for everyone . 100% recommend this fish and chip shop 👌

Great fish and chip shop with large portions

Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. The batter on the fish is so fresh and light and crispy and the fish inside is bright white and juicy. The chips are great, huge portion too, and the peas and curry are very flavoursome. It's funny because I keep hunting for the perfect fish and chips in coastal towns like Whitby and Wales and Cornwall, and little would I have thought the winner so far resides in Chorley!

The food was better than expected! No doubt there. The service could have been better, eventide it was a busy night... Atmosphere?? Wekll - what can you expect from a do with fobier on take away...

Soggy mush chips completely stuck to paper. Anyone would think they had been glued together with wall paper paste. Absolutely awful. In the bin!

The chips are a bit soggy and the sausage over cooked has been before been better!!!

Purchased one large lightly battered haddock ,normal chips and peas which on returning home and unwrapped, approx 3 mins max we're cold and the batter and fish barely cooked. Used to be our weekly go to chippy but never ever again. Most of it went in the bin. went in the bin. 😡

We were disappointed with our visit here. Asked for 2 small cones of chips and received 2 trays. The chips seemed to be reheated from lunch time and not fleshly cooked. This was my second experience and my first was totally different. It was however my hubby's first experience and its put him off trying again unfortunately.

Always enjoyed food from here but tonight's chips were absolutely hard cold and tasteless. Very disappointed 😞 the cod bites were more batter than fish. Wont be going here again.

Always freshly made and good portion size. I would call ahead during busy periods as the queues can be long, a good sign of a good chippy

Was my favourite but green on chips and tasted odd plus chewy tasteless cheap sausage means I’m never going back sorry but can’t waste money on bad food it’s in your bin now

For a chippy in Lancashire I cant believe it doesnt sell the biggest selling pie in the country. The Hollands Steak & Kidney pie sells more than six times of any other pie. If your chippy doesn't sell the steak and kidney pie and only offers the steak pie then its an issue with the owner not liking kidney or has religious concerns over the kidney. I have come across a few chippys that don't sell the steak and kidney saying they are not popular with customers but thats clearly not true. Lots of customers might say steak pie but they really mean steak and kidney. The vast majority of chippys sell the steak & kidney pie and dont even have a steak pie. Hollands do do a steak pie and also do peppered steak pies. However if a chippy doesn't sell the steak and kidney i will walk out every time and not buy anything. I will then find one that does sell them. Unfortunately the chips at the Queen vic were very poor. I dont know if they were prepacked or frozen or if their oil was poor grade palm oil but the chips were dry dark and tasted of nothing and even with gravy on I took one mouthful and couldn't wait to find a bin. The reason why I even bought the chips was I had been past about 6 chippys that were closed on a Tuesday and it was nearly 10pm so other chippys would be closed. I am diabetic and needed some food at the time

Great value and really nice food. Good opening hours too. Tables if you want to eat in. Quite a variety of things on the menu. Also sells chippy vinegar.

By far the most generous portion size of chips in Chorley, and they taste good too! Good fish too with a nice batter. Good mushy peas and the sauce pots are bigger than other chippies give you. The place seems clean and hygienic and the staff always give you a warm welcome. This is our "go-to" chippy even though it's not the closest to us.

Not been in before and went on the recommendation of a family member - very delicious and great value - we will be calling again when we’re next up here….sorry no photos, we ate it all up! PS: the plaice of was HUGE & fantastic! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It was reccomended to go here, but unfortunately I can't put in words how disappointing the quality of the food was. If only they consentrated on the food rather than the look of the place ( quality set up, tiling and deco ) ... but lacking in the food, sorry to say.

Just had sausage and chips and the chips where the best I've had anywhere for a long time. Could eat another lot!!

Seems to of gone downhill and expensive lately :-( Chips are not as they used to be and a bag of chips probably consists of 50% bad ones and you end up throwing them away Fish bites are mainly dried up with bones in them Other issue is if you are in the queue and someone behind the counter sees someone she knows then she will serve that ‘mate’ first irrespective of any people in the queue. Then starts talking about personal life with them in front of everyone - not good please note it’s cash only as well !

This has to be the best chippy I have ever been a regular at. In London I used to pay about £8 for a piece of haddock that fed myself. Here I pay less then £5 for haddock chips and suace and it is a large enough portion to feed my wife and myself. Friendly staff. I'm moving out of Chorley and I am going to miss the chippy. I'd like to add we have now been out of Chorley for several years but always stop here if we are passing through town. Can't find a chippy as good near our new home.

Came here with a large group of scouts last week and it was amazing! Tonight we waited for over half an hour for our order which we saw sitting on the counter for at least 15 minutes, chips were not the best when we got home :( shame as it was fresh and fab last week. Not sure we would be back after tonight’s experience, it seems telephone orders take preference over walk in orders seeing the number of people who were served while we waited.

We just got chips. Tasted amazing 🤩 love them and the curry sauce. Option to sit in but we took home. Staff were lovely and will definitely be back. Thank you!

Reasonably priced. Sometimes cant beat fish and chips here but other times the chips and peas aren't as good. Not sure if its different staff or just busier days the food isn't as great. But overall this is my fav chippy in chorley. Staff are always realy nice.

Had fish & chips from here, the chips didn’t really have much taste and the customer service wasn’t brilliant. Must say the large portion of chips could feed 4/5 people so bear that in mind when buying

This use to be my go to chipshop, I visited yesterday and the standard has dropped rapid, the chips were dry , even the dog outside wouldn't eat them 😲, and the sausage was Rock hard and cold, dog devoured it! Lad with glasses serving was ignorant also, give it a miss folks go elsewhere 👎

Great chippy really good quality at a very reasonable price

On a recent visit at lunch time three of us decided on fish and chips some with a carton of peas one without. One small fish and chips, and the rest of the order was to much for the server to understand, she got it wrong. Also we were left standing while other people came in and were served and had left despite coming in after us. Now the real gripe. The chips were cold, the fish was dry, the price of £18 was over the top for what we got. I am not happy with what in the past was a very good chippy. May be it was a very bad day, but my meal was disgusting, most of which went in the bin.

I have to say the first time I went this chippy the food was good the fish was impeccable and the chips good. However the last three visits to yourselves the food to be honest tastes it was out of a bin the chips very dry and no potatoe inside, very poor hence your good reviews. Will not be returning.

Freezing to sit down the door wouldn't close Nice food but not cheap. Plastic knives and forks and polystyrene containers and cups needs to change.
