The Quebec Tearoom in County Durham

Original review was "Really nice tearooms - I'll definitely call in again if I'm passing. Lovely food and really cosy atmosphere with very pleasant staff." EDIT reduce from ⭐⭐⭐⭐ to ⭐⭐. The owner has changed since my last vist. Called today and was very disappointed. Walked in and the owner and manager were sat at a table talking. It took 5 minutes before anyone approached. The manager was friendly enough, and directed us to sit at one of the tables. The table had crumbs and jam on it - we had to ask for it to be cleaned. Food served, though expensive, looked okay, until I bit into a shard of plastic (see photo). I couldn't finish meal, and have felt nauseous since. To be fair to cafe they didn't charge for the jacket potato with the shard in it. When I told my wife about today, she told me she visited a few weeks ago and saw the cook enter the toilet wearing the apron 🤮 and wouldn't visit again. Neither will I.

Really enjoyed my experience with food and tea. Will definitely return for more.

Quaint little place, an old village pub we had Scampi and Chips peas was really nice. Payment by card is accepted but Cash prefered " Which I whole heartedly agree with" use it or lose it.

Nice tearoom to visit. Set prices for 2 or 3 courses are really good value. Had roast beef dinner which was very good. There is quite a good variety of food on offer. Service could have been a bit quicker though, but overall, I would recommend it.

Came here for Sunday Lunch and Can honestly say this was the best meal out I've had in a long time. Whole experience was top drawer can't recommend it enough

Colourful, crisp & clean. Walls have pazaz, loads to look at. Coffee's lush, real mcCoy froth & even just black coffee - straight up & wi double cream. Probs the best red velvet I've ever had, deffo coming again

Friendly coffee shop. Service was a little bit slow and lots of tables with dirty crockery not cleared away (can put customers off sitting at them) but staff were friendly and helpful . Food lovely.

Lovely tearoom hidden in Quebeck near Langley Park. It was also a cracking pub in years passed. Lovely staff. A must if you are in the area. Give it a try.

This is a really quaint little place. The food is amazing and there was no hurry for us to leave once we'd finished our food. The new staff are very friendly but we were sitting in there for about 20 minutes and no one had come to take our order so we went tot he counter and the lady said she didn't know anyone else was in the tea rooms so a little more vigilance needed, apart from this it was perfect.

Had afternoon tea for my granddaughters birthday, the tea rooms, food and staff were so nice and really went out of their way to make her feel so special, would definitely go there again, thank you

Fantastic gluten free afternoon tea . Very educated and professional about any cross contamination . Beautiful setting . First visit and the food was delicious . We will be back . 10 stars if I could . Beautiful crockery and surroundings too x

I made an enquiry a number of weeks ago about opening times over Christmas advising I wanted to make a booking of 6 for afternoon tea. I was promised a call back within 2 days to let me know as opening times had not been decided at that point. I did not receive the call so had to ring back several days later to follow up my enquiry. I booked afternoon tea for 6 costing just short of £120 which I paid for online immediately after making the booking. Myself and 2 of my guests arrived a few minutes before our allotted time to a very cold cafe, one other table was occupied. We stood at the counter for what seemed an age before someone eventually came through and told us to take a seat. When my other guests arrived the two members of staff started to bring out our tea and food. I asked if one guest could have a different drink as he didn't drink tea and was told I would have to pay for this separately...which I didn't expect after what I'd already paid. The food itself was delicious and plentiful but the atmosphere and overall demeanor of the staff wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming. I am sad to say that overall it wasn't a great experience and I won't be going back

Very friendly with pleasant surroundings, situated in a small village with a shabby chic decor and a small gift shop area as well as a secluded soft seating area should one desire a more private area to partake their lunch or tea. The QT has recently been under new management and the opening times have been extended to 4.00pm. Overall a great and friendly little place and food is all homemade. We will be back for sure.

We called into the tea rooms on Saturday afternoon as we wanted to see what the new place was like. We requested something from the menu to be told that they had been busy and that what we wanted wasn’t available!! We ordered verbally after being told my waitress what was available. One of our friends had to change her request yet again as what she ordered was not available either. So we had a meal which we expected to be a set price as per what was verbally given to us. Quiche (advertised as £10.?? On menu) with homemade chips and salad (coleslaw was waved above the plate!!! A teaspoon of it on the plate) Quiche was lovely but price was ridiculous. I paid £3.50 for an Earl Grey Tea, £17.?? In total. They charged £2.99 for a dish of homemade chips. We won’t be returning to one of our favourite places as I was so shocked at what we paid!!

Sorry but we will not be returning! Have often frequented prior to new ownership but the rudeness from the owner was shocking! Ordered baked potatoes and told none ready, asked what was with Quiche and we were told chips and salad. When paying the chips were charged as extra! We explained we were told it came with meal( waitress serving us had gone home by then) The waitress explained this to the manager who was sitting in the tearooms and she didn’t have the decency to apologise to us or speak to us but said no we had to pay! They have lost good customers and certainly won’t be recommending! One star for service as both waitresses very pleasant.

Popped in for an all day breakfast with my dad, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was great and very well priced. I will definately be back in the future 😊 10/10

Very disappointed with our food. The all day breakfast was a letdown. The sausages were overcooked with lack of filling. Mushrooms & tomatoes were undercooked & the majority of the food tasted vinegary. Small bowl of beans (lucky if a tablespoon full) Breakfast was quite pricey too so we wouldn’t hurry back. However the young girl that served us was very friendly and polite. Hot drinks very nice and nice little gift shop attached.

Lovely little tearoom in the middle of nowhere. You can yell they've put a lot of thought and care into the look and ambience of the place, and it works. The food is nice enough, its nothing spectacular but what you want from a tearoom. The staff were top notch.

It was super quiet and only us and 2 others in the place The food was a real good size and the tea came on a large tpot But I got the small china cup....which the wife though was hilarious and I have Bear paws so I just grabbed around the top and it worked just fine, I even held my pinkie in the air too! Lovely little tea room. Will definitely return. Choices of food were limited but delicious all the same. I had a fruit scone with jam and cream. Would have been much nicer to have home made jam in a little pot rather than packaged jam .. it spoilt the presentation. I am being a bit picky but Hope comments are helpful

Chance visit to the tearoom and it's wonderful. Great selections of cakes, hot and cold drinks. Even able to buy little quirky handmade trinkets and cards. Wonderful

Stumbled across this little beauty, what a lovely quaint tearoom the coffee was perfect and the tea cake just toasted right Mmmmm yummy. The best advice I can give you is don't drive by stop and say hi. You really won't be disappointed with this little gem 🙂

This was our first visit to The Quebec Tearoom, but it certainly won't be the last. The decor and ambience is very comfortable and relaxed. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the menu is small but varied. Our meals were homemade and very nice. Prices are in line with the experience and value for money. We highly recommend a visit and are sure you will not be disappointed.

Visited QT on Saturday with a friend. Lovely place, great decor and even better cakes !!! I had the trifle cake............divine !!! Think I'm going again this week. My new favourite place for a cuppa & cake.

Great start to my 70th Birthday/Mothers day, my Son, Daughter in Law and Grandaughter Ella took me and my husband for breakfast, we had a full english and it was lovely, everything was good quality, so needless to say clean plates all round, will certainly be going back, this tea room was a great find, lovely food, lovely staff and exceptionally clean, I recommend them 100%,

What a lovely Tearoom,it was like a warm hug.Myself and 4 friends visited here today,one of us was lactose and gluten intolerant, we were all well catered for,and enjoyed our food and drinks in a lovely atmosphere. Definitely be returning, staff were lovely and friendly.

Cute little teashop, well worth a visit. Then worth coming back to. We've not seen it busy, but never empty either. Ask for a pot of tea for two if you like tea in teacups. They have some nice cake and a selection of lunches. Misses 5 stars because I expect afternoon tea to be served around 4pm. But that is when they close! 🤨

Visited for a late breakfast/early lunch & would definitely recommend visiting.. It's definitely off the beaten track & almost drove straight past. Parked on a side street as I couldn't see any designated car park for the business. Very warm welcome on arrival & excellent service... The food was good quality, the latte in particular was very good.. I would have liked a larger portion on the full English so knocked a star off. Service was first class though, would definitely go again 👍👍👍

Completely disorganised. This is the second time we have visited and in both occasions the wait was ridiculous. I would have been more than understanding if they had been busy. We made a simple order of three drinks and three food. The first food arrived 10 minutes after ordering but no hot drinks. At 20 minutes the hot drinks arrived but the wrong ones. The hot drinks then arrive several minutes later but still no food (25 minutes after ordering). The food was two cheese scones... Not the hardest. I'd like to give a better review because the food, drinks and decor is great, but when you order you expect it to be prompt, correct and not have to remind the staff what you ordered. The boss/manager needs to completely review the work flow if they want to keep their customers Shame

First visit to The tea room . Wow it is beautifuly decorated, friendly . Warm and welcoming. Fruit scones with clotted cream and jam was delicious. There is a small play area for children . Im surè we will be back soon . They have a small gift shop too. I recommend a visit.

My mum and I come often we especially love the tiger bread toasties! The child’s menu is quite limited perhaps something a little more exciting than a packed lunch? Try the latte!

Had breakfast with Santa. The breakfast part was very unorganised. Cold bacon and had to ask 3 times for drinks. The part with Santa was really good and the kids enjoyed it
