Current Covid-19 restrictions prevent sit in, so I ordered by phone. By the time I arrived, the food was ready and hot. It had been well packaged. I was tempted by the freshly baked sausage rolls, so had some of them, too. There were freshly baked cakes, chocolate concrete and Christmas biscuits available, but I resisted! All the food is at very reasonable prices. Once open for sit on, I will definitely be returning for breakfast or lunch. They have special offers each week, so it's worth calling them to check. Oh! They have built something of a reputation during lockdown for their delivered cakes, afternoon teas and cream teas; they still do these but delivery is later, after the cafés closes.

Lovely place right next to the cinema. Open 8am-2pm and becomes an Indian at night . Good idea. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Great sandwiches and scrumptious cakes. Friendly staff. Needs more customers, do try it!

I was unsure about going for afternoon tea but I was pleasantly surprised. But it was brilliant. The staff really genuine care and as another reviewer has said, nothing is too much trouble. They catered for my Vegetarian daughter and Gluten intolerant mother. The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant.Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

This is a new gem set back off the main road, sited right next to the Empire cinema. The main sign says 'The Purple Room because it is an Indian restaurant at night. But during the day it transforms magically into 'The Purple Tea Rooms and is run by a delightful couple, famed locally on social media for their truly scrumptious and authentic 'old skool puddings', especially the Chocolate Concrete. For those who may wonder; you can't smell curry in the seating area. The food is fantastic. Cooked from fresh and the portions generous.I popped in when they were doing an afternoon tea and it looked simply amazing. Very traditional. Served on antique China with proper teapots. You can order to take away. You can also order their puddings by the tray. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. I'd advise calling in advance to discuss requirements. Nothing seems too much trouble for them.I've been back a few times since and highly recommend this gem of cosy place.

This frank red hot sauce tenders have way too much sauce but dang lovely! Also, nice to see that you felt the tendency to decorate our names onto the bags, it is cute.

We visited the Pershore road branch of this restaurant. After reading the good reviews we were so excited to try this place. We ordered the £50 mixed grill skewer - It was a huge platter, but mostly filled with salad but there's not even £10 worth of meat. The chicken wings in the platter was so undercooked, the blood was still dripping inside. The lamb fillet was hard as rock, we couldnt chew or cut. The purple cabbage in the salad smelled awful, it spoiled the whole experience. We were very disappointed, and finally had to fill us up with the chips and saffron rice which was bathed in oil. The dessert was just ok, nothing special as it described in the menu. The ambience was nice, and the host was friendly. But the food wasn't really worth the money. Will never visit again.
