Stopped for lunch while passing on the way to the seaside. Service was good. Food was very fresh, well presented, generous portions and delicious. Bought a meal for my toddler, sandwich arrived with no crusts, chips and salad with baby tomatoes (vs large tomatoes on the adult meals). It was lovely.

It's my local 3 miles away. Bar staff don't like to chat which I love, a few dodgy clientele, rarely gets busy. Don't go. Keep the place empty so I can get a table in the garden when I go twice a year.

Went in at lunch time. Unfriendly barman. Bar full of swearing locals watching TV. Lounge area full of noisy dog owners and their dogs. Very unhygienic and dirty. Was going to eat but decided not to. Dogs and restaurants do not go together. Best leave this sort of pub to the locals. Outsiders obviously not welcome !!

I organised a group of 13 to eat lunch here today. They are a fussy lot! Not a single complaint and a round of applause for Kay, the cook, who had popped out to see us. They even put a little paper place mat at each setting with our group name on it. A decent choice of menu, great price, well cooked, served hot. What more could you want? What about a well-kept pint of Adnams Broadside, as well as a choice of other great real ales? Other types of drinks, of course, are available! Very highly recommended. Our best pub/restaurant experience yet after three years of monthly meetings. Thanks, guys.

6 in our group for an evening meal. Enjoyed our meals. I had the shepherds pie. What is off putting is picking up the menu to find it sticky and the pages covered in various dried food, the tops of the sauce bottles encrusted with dried on old sauce and the glasses around the rim feeling unclean - felt like old lipstick etc.

My parents booked this place after meeting the very approachable, and friendly land lady, earlier in the day. And we were all looking forward to a nice meal. However, upon arriving, the bar staff barely even acknowledged us. We walked in and it was almost as if we weren’t welcome. We explained that we’d booked a table earlier on in the day, and asked where to sit. The lad behind the bar told us just to sit anywhere, so we sat down at a table. They weren’t rude, but it was almost as if we were inconveniencing them. They didn’t offer us a menu - we actually had to ask for this, and weren’t offered a drink, despite sitting there for over 10 minutes. In the end we took the hint and left. This is a real shame as, the pub is quaint and, the staff earlier on in the day were very friendly and welcoming

The first thing I look for on a a menu when out dining is what fish do they serve, not just fish and chips/scampi etc, but Salmon, Sea bass/bream etc. So on our previous visit we ordered the Fish Pie only to be told there was none. So had a meat main. Last night saw they had Salmon in a Dill a leeks sauce, so thought we would try that , and yes you've guessed it "Sorry we don't have any Salmon" Why aren't frount of house staff told if something on the menu is not available. Most disappointing. So it was a meat main again. Food and serviced as usual was fine, just rather annoyed about the Salmon.

We went for Sunday lunch with some friends and their dog, and the pub seemed to be filled with well behaved dogs, so there was lots of chat with the various owners. We all had roast pork which came with a variety of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Two had sticky toffee pudding which they said was ok. Well worth a visit, particularly if you want somewhere to take the dog.

Popped in for lunch on our way to Harrogate. Had a lovely pint of Adnams Broadside and the best Ploughman's lunch I have had for years. Half a pork pie, generous portion of ham plus cheddar and stilton. Pickles, salad, pickled onion, sliced apple and celery. Wow!! As I was passing through castor on Sunday I fancied a roast dinner but the first 2 pubs I pasted hadn't opened there doors yet lucky for me they weren't because I would have missed this great roast dinner for £10.95.I walked into the pub around 12 o'clock went to the bar they weren't serving yet so decided to have a drink while I waited the young lady was very helpful and I went for one or two of the local brews .What impressed me was they had laid a little buffet on which was great. I ordered my roast I had lamb what a great choice when it arrived it smelt great , the service was great plus it tasted so fresh , I wanted to do a Oliver and ask for more roast potatoes ,and finished it with a coffee the only problem was my phone was playing up so I couldn't take any photo's what a pity

30 years after moving to Peterborough………..Attended a special “casino” evening with U3A group, some thirty or so people and many other people. The restaurant was busy, the service was very good, the food was delicious and inventive, the ambience was warming. I am definitely going again. These students, after a hard day of lectures, tutorials or whatever, worked their socks off to produce excellent results and so many happy and satisfied customers …..wonderful. I was impressed.

Prices were good, compared to local take aways. Portion size was good for lunch but not quite enough for a main meal, but I do have a big appetite. They actually put salt and vinegar on it rather than just waving the bottles near the food! Chips were proper sized. Batter was crispy and tasty. Sausage was not over done. All in all very good.
