The Press Cafe and Bistro in Fife

Highly recommended, friendly staff, consistent service and food. Good location. We had bruschetta with mushrooms, and mussels in thai green sauce, followed by steak sandwich with pepper sauce and chips, and fish and chips. All very tasty. 2 courses £17 and 3 for £20. They have other special offers too. Light and airy dining room.

As a Cupar local I come out to The Press a lot with family and friends. The nachos are always a go to starter with lots of cheese! And the burgers are fantastic, followed by a dessert which can be shared among the group. Great selection of drinks and friendly helpful staff.

What can l say, this restaurant is something special. Food was excellent and beautifully presented Very welcoming and friendly. Price wise, whilst some people would say an expensive restaurant to eat at, you would certainly pay an awful lot more in places like London to eat in a restaurant of this standard of food. I Would definitely return and recommend.

My husband and I just love this restaurant. Have been for Christmas "do's" and with friends too. A little hidden gem in Cupar. Fine dining without the fanfare. Five-star food, drink, service, friendliness, ambience and value for money. We go every two or three weeks because it is so affordable and in two years we've never been disappointed or had a complaint. Just superb!

The Press has added a stylish bar area and stone baked pizza oven, a fantastic addition to this classy Bistro. We visited yesterday to try it and the stone baked pizzas and cocktails were amazing!! Very disappointing lunch last week - over priced fish and chips (the fish was frozen rather than fresh), and pretty poor service. It's a great location, so it's a shame that the food doesn't live up to expectations.

What a difference a couple of days make. The Press has been transformed! The addition of the new bar adds atmosphere, it is stylish and the place was buzzing. The new menu includes freshly baked Pizza straight from the newly installed oven. Delicious and there are Gluten Free bases available too. This is certainly the place to be in Cupar. I would recommend booking, especially in the evenings, the phone was ringing off its hook!

Went to The Press last night as they have now installed a PIZZA OVEN and the pizzas are great!!! You must try the next time.

We were a table of five - from young to old and we all enjoyed the food and the ambience. Pricing is pleasantly fair, particularly for the quality.The food is clearly home cooked and it's a cute wee place, very spacious and airy. It was a little grey outside, but inside it was very pleasant and light. We came from Dundee and the journey was well worth it, we'll definitely be returning.

My husband and I went to The Press with an itison voucher. We heard good things but ultimately were disappointed to find that the quality of the food served is just above pub grub you get from a well known chain... Starters were fried brie ( cold in the middle ) and goats cheese which was nice. Mains were a chicken burger ( charcoaled ) with extra toppings of bacon and haggis and pulled beef with kale and cheddar mash. The beef and accompanying sauce were extremely salty, more like too much gravy powder, cheddar mash was dry and tasteless. Before we ordered we were told with our voucher our mains could be up to £15 each ( so a Burger for £12 plus 2 toppings came to just under £15 ) BUT on the way out we were informed that the waitress serving us should have explained this excluded extra toppings and we were promptly charged £2.50! All in, we wouldn't go again. Service was a bit haphazard with the water carafe noisily dropped on the table and the very stingy request for £2.50 . Dinner would have been in excess of £50 if we hadn't had the voucher and to be honest I would have been very disappointed ( still am and that's with the voucher!) ... I guess Cafe Bistro is more in keeping with what The Press is and not a place for dinner.

Embarassing visit to The Press where I had only been for coffee before booking a meal for four to celebrate daughter's 50th birthday. After 25 minutes waiting caught the "waitress" eye and hand signals indicated that we were wondering when we would have our food. She came right up to me and in a loud voice told me that "they were going as fast as they could". I've got to give it to her she was the most sourfaced, disinterested waitress that I have ever encountered.

Looking for a place to lunch and stumbled across this lovely place and what a delightful surprise. Great service and good food at value.

My fiancée and I decided to have a nice meal and few drinks a few Friday’s ago at the press. We planned of having a starter, Mains and a few cocktails. Instead we ended up having one drink each and just a main. The lady who served us was not interested, felt like she didn’t want to be there. Took ages to get our drinks order and be shown the specials. Put a damper on the evening. We went out expecting to spend around £100 instead our bill was £42 and we went home early. Food was ok.

Three of us had a fabulous meal on Saturday.. the steaks were cooked to perfection, the service was friendly and the whole restaurant had a good feel. We’ll be back.

Upon entering we were greeted a pleasant young girl who showed us to our table which was situated on a nice upper floor landing. Our drinks order was taken by an older woman who didn't seem to like her job very much. After having the discussion on whether i was having fanta or fresh orange juice (i chose fresh orange juice) i was given fanta. After we finished our mains which were lovely customer service was clearly not top priority as the older woman re arranged tables for a while after seeing we were finished with our plates but not clearing them. We were keen to leave as we had plans. We asked for the bill and the card machine but recieved a very stand off-ish reply of “you can do that on your way out”.

One of the best lunch I had for a long time! The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, the stuff very friendly and the food amazing! I tried the chorizo mussels and they were amazing! I will definitely return to try more dishes!

Had lunch at the press although we had to sit outside because we had the dogs but we were fortunate it was a warm day it's just a pity they don't allow an area for customers with dogs which would be a plus for them as it would give more sales especially when bad weather but we would return again but on a good day.

We came across this restaurant recently and went in for lunch. We were given a very friendly welcome by the staff. We decided on the two course lunch which was excellent value for money. My wife had the pate and I had the mussels- both were excellent.

The food in this restaurant is divine. There is a wide selection of dishes and the food is reasonably price and nicely presented.

The meal was excellent, particularly the mussels I had for a starter. The service was efficient and friendly and the overall ambiance of the place was very pleasant. We shall return soon.

There isn’t an awfully lot to do in Cupar on a Sunday so why not eat? Five of us had a lovely Sunday lunch from full menu including Sunday special roast. Service was friendly and efficient, food was beautifully cooked and presented. Great value for money.

Visited Cupar and was looking for a venue to have lunch. Came upon this super bistro. We had the two courses for £12. Excellent value for money. Service was fast. Servers were extremely attentive and friendly. Chefs served us an amazing meal. We had pate to start which was with a savoury jam that was so so tasty. Mains were fish and chips which were also really really tasty.

Be advised that the website is incorrect. We drove from St Andrews because we heard good things about this place. However they couldn’t be bothered to change their website after they changed their opening time. They painted the new time on the door but of course that didn’t help us any. Very disappointing.

My first visit to the press (been meaning to go for a while) and I didn't realise how roomy it is past the open plan lobby and kitchen area.

We ate dinner last week and we're dissapointed. The duck my wife had was very chewy and tough. I had the cod served peas a La Francais.. style. Which normally would had sauteed button onions through the peas with chiffonade of lettuce, but I had a handful of cocktail pickled onions, which were vinegary.

Had Saturday lunch here with an itison voucher. If it hadn’t been for the voucher I would never have known this place existed, as I’m not from Cupar.

The Press Bistro and Cafe in Cupar, Fife, was the venue chosen for our two hour lunch date today, the 17th January, 2019. Though a light covering of overnight snow had clung to the ground where we live, the roads were clear and the mighty Tay Estuary was crossable ... in fact, for the time of year, the hour-long drive to the venue could only be described, in the best 'Auld Alliance' vernacular, as Magnifique. My daughter, son-in-law, my wife and I were pre-booked, so we were greeted and seated by one p.m. in quite the most pleasant well-run and reasonably-priced cafe in this old 'kingdom' town. A good crowd and a pair of attentive front-of-house servers, coupled with a tempting luncheon choice promising extra-fine value, was found to be to our complete expectations. We had two ample healthy home-made soups, haggis balls and chickeny starters ... all beatifully cheffed and served. Mains were fish, chicken and pasta platters, carefully made, laid ... and slowly devoured. And the desserts followed swiftly, true treats to both the eye and palette were they sticky toffee pude and cheesecake delights ... About twenty quid a head included wine, beer and clear, caller Scottish Water. Pressing the Point ... We Left this Modishly Converted Eaterie's Veritable Feast ... Replete and Contentedly Satisfied.
