The Potting Shed in Bromsgrove

Me and the wife caught a taxi there mainly for the garden centre, thought we would have a breakfast first?? As it was only 1 minute before they swapped menu for lunch time it just wasn't what we wanted at this time. We were hungry but it just did not a dinner. The garden centre was also a let down. There reason for most of it closed was to early in the year ? We returned home and went to the local centre were it all was open.

Absolutely amazing place. The food is delicious. I have visited a few times and always had a lovely time. The afternoon teas are the best I've ever had. During Christmas time they do festive afternoons teas which are incredible. The staff are absolutely brilliant so friendly and always serve with a smile. Special credit goes to Ellen the manager who is fabulous. A lovely bespoke find and definitely worth a visit.

Just returned from a fabulous afternoon tea. Lots of choice and all very fresh served on beautiful crockery. Top ups of tea or americano coffee as required and the option to add prosecco for those who desired. As good if not better than some we have had at well known Birmingham venues.

Sorry but I can’t recommend the bacon sandwiches. 2 slices of thick white bread, no butter, plenty of tough, hard to chew bacon in between - that was it. Had to use ketchup to help it down.

A fablous café with delicious food and service at a reasonable price. Martin was super attentive and served us brilliantly. Well recommended

Such a lovely place to visit. I love the food and drink at the potting shed! Brilliant breakfasts, yummy lunches, amazing cakes and afternoon teas! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The service provided is exceptional. The shop and garden nurseries have a good selection of plants too. Totally recommend a visit!

Unfortunately didn't try the food but had 2 drinks and based on those it was overpriced and not fresh ingredients, one drink was watered down with ice which really annoys me when you pay £5 for some water and half of your drink Other then the overpriced bad drink it was a nice place

Good value for money food and coffee and always well presented. My only negative comment is that I don't agree with allowing dogs into an establishment where food is served as the odour doesn't help the atmosphere. My suggestion would only have animals outside.

Excellent service, staff are very friendly. Food is great. We had afternoon tea for my cousins 88th birthday. More than enough for two of us. Worth the money. We had a great time and will definitely pay another visit soon. Thank you to the staff for being so pleasant.

We hosted a baby shower at the Potting Shed last Saturday and it was fabulous! The venue was perfect as we had the separate function room all to ourselves (plenty of space for 34 guests). The afternoon tea was delicious, great value for money and the service was excellent. A big thank you to Ellen the Manager who organised the booking and catered to everyone’s needs.

I went there with my mum, my sister and a friend of ours for a Mother's Day 2-course meal. The place was lovely, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very nice. The food was lovely as well. I wouldn't mind going there again for a spot of lunch one time!

had afternoon tea here, just 2 of us. lovely food would recommend. I know it was busy but we was not asked once if we wanted a drink refill which was a bit disappointing, i know it was a Saturday but it wasn't exactly cheap. would visit again though, maybe for lunch.

Visted the potting shed yesterday with my mom. She had fish and chips, I had Ham Egg and chips, the fish was so fresh and the ham egg and chips was fabulous quality and the staff were very friendly. We even stayed for cake! Would highly recommend this gorgeous cafe will definitely be returning

The experience from start to finish was excellent, lovely food which was presented beautifully and first class service from the staff, the restaurant is very comfortable with a charming atmosphere. A lovey afternoon tea for two, lovely calm atmosphere, staff very friendly & helpful. 3 tier stack of sandwiches, scones and cream, then the top layer of 5 individual cakes each. A pot of tea or coffee have more if you like. Well presented, lovely tasting, would definitely recommend

Husband had carved ham more like out of a packet my cheese and tomato toastie was dry and tasteless cream had gone off for my coffee It’s really gone down food wise Staff are helpful and working very hard

I hired the room on the side of the restaurant for my mom’s celebration of life. It was prettily decorated and cozy. The food was amazing, so much more than a standard buffet, all the guests were impressed and we were given boxes to take leftovers. I had one gluten free guest who was catered for also amazingly. Staff were so lovely, there was nothing that was too much and they asked when we wanted drinks etc and always checking was everything ok. I couldn’t recommend enough and appreciate how nice they made our family gathering for my mom.

Came to Singletons recently for an impromptu breakfast. It was extremely busy but luckily found a table for 4 out of the way. Was advised there was a small wait for food which was fine. Ordered 4 breakfasts which came out within the time frame stated. We had a small issue with one of our items which was quickly rectified by the staff despite being extremely busy. Will definitely be back soon thank you for a lovely visit!

Order was wrong no apology given 😒

I visited the Potting shed a few days ago with my son and friend. Upon arrival we were not initially acknowledged by staff however a lady with her back to us, working on a laptop turned round and greeted us. I asked if there was availability for 3 and she replied yes just sit anywhere. She then said the menus at the front of the shop and there are specials on the specials board at the back of the shop. Although plenty of seats we were then told we couldn’t sit where we wanted because they were closing off part of the shop for cleaning. This was at 2pm on a Saturday. Not close to closing time. We sat down and after getting our own menus we sat for around 5mins deciding on food. I went up to the counter first ordered a “Turkey club sandwich “ and asked what lattes they offer. The lady then said the coffee machine was broken so all I could be offered were a filter coffee or tea. Why were we not told this on arrival? I also ordered my son cod and chips off the kid menu. When it came it was chicken strips so had to be send back. Then my food came. It was a turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, Brie and salad on a sandwich. This was not what I expected a “Turkey club sandwich” to be. Maybe a festive turkey club sandwich ? If that was what it was called I wouldn’t of ordered. I don’t like cranberry sauce or Brie !!! After already sending my sons food back to the kitchen I just ate my chips and left the whole sandwich.A young waitress took our food when we finished. She returned to ask if there was anything wrong with the food. I said that it wasn’t what I expected maybe it should of been advertised as a festive sandwich as I thought calling it a club sandwich was totally misleading. The girl simply responded “oh ok” and reported back to the kitchen. For this I give this place two stars for service and food! The fact we were asked to find our own seats and pick our own menus threw me as when I’ve been in the past you were always seated by staff and they were very friendly and attentive. If I’m honest it’s been a year since I last visited only because the time before we were rudely turned away and it put me off. I thought after a year maybe it would have been different buh I was sadly very disappointed. This isn’t a cheap place to eat if I was visiting a Wetherspoons I would expect to sit myself and pick my own menu. I also thought we should have been made aware the coffee machine was broken when we arrived although we weren’t even properly attended to so for those reasons I won’t be returning. Such a shame it used to be a properly run business with friendly and enthusiastic staff. I don’t normally leave reviews but hopefully this will encourage them to take action and make it a nice place to visit again!

Stoped here off the M5 to avoid soulless services with a baby and a child. It was excellent. The home made soup and bread or cheese toastie was a highlight! We also had festive toasties and sandwiches. Staff were friendly and high chairs were provided. We saw another table had afternoon tea which looked amazing! Totally recommended as a really convenient and lovely stop off the motorway!!

Fabulous! Thursday Evening Christmas Party Dinner .. Food was amazing, beautifully home cooked, excellent flavours, generous platefuls easily the best tasting Christmas dinner outside my own home! Superb value for money and the staff were so welcoming. Thankyou

My husband and I had marvellous late breakfasts at the Potting Shed. We have only been there a few times, but I think we will be going on a more regular basis.

Superb cakes - homemade, delicious, always a great range (vegan, scones, cakes, brownies, tray bakes), good portion size. There’s a good menu for breakfast and lunch. You go up to order and you can wait for drinks or they are delivered to your table. There’s a log fire in the main room.

Just had the Halloween Affernoon tea and it was absolutely lovely. The detail on the cakes and savouries was really festive and all the food tasted gorgeous. Fantastic service as always would definitely recommend.

Great breakfast spoiled by penny pinching staff! Ordered pot of tea with two full English breakfasts, huge pot of tea arrived enough for at least four cups, all great so far! Upon pouring unfortunately tea too weak so went to counter to request “one extra teabag” only to be told we had to pay for it!!! Asked to speak with manager who basically apologised but said they have been told to “charge for everything” by the Trust to keep the business going. Really, if that’s the case think someone responsible at the Trust needs to go on a customer service course as well as finance! £28 for breakfast and can’t provide an extra teabag FOC really!! Well we won’t be back so that’s a great piece of financial common sense all for the sake of a teabag costing I guess couple of pence at wholesale costs, great decision! One final thought, if as we were told “we get lots of people asking for an additional teabag” and we can’t keep giving them away for free, doesn’t that suggest they need to put another in large pot as just maybe it’s too WEAK!! Real shame but won’t be coming back with friends, family or anyone else!

I recently came to the Potting Shed and was blown away by the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The pumpkin soup was absolutely delightful – perfect for the season. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience; they were incredibly accommodating and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. Lovely place. A hidden gem we found by accident when trying to find a place for lunch whilst traveling. Very kind people, lovely choice in their menu. Good value for money. Nextdoor is a small shed with gifts and pottery. And a glasshouse outside for more pots and plants. Very English. Loved it.

I can't really comment on the quality of the food as I only had a piece of carrot cake which was nice , but what I did see come out of the kitchen looked nice . My gripe was with the extremely slow service , after queuing up for 10 mins they took the small order of 2 cups of tea and 1 Alice of carrot cake , I was then asked to sit down and it would be brought over to me , it took nearly 20 minutes to get the order, in fact I was so fed up waiting that I went up to the counter and collected it myself . The staff who were all very young didn't seem to be able to do anything unless instructed by a staff member from behind the counter, I'm sure they did there best , but I'm sorry to have to wait this long for a pot of tea and one slice of cake is excessive, thankfully the cafe was not that busy, I can only imagine the wait if it was full .

Disappointed with our visit to The Potting Shed, this must be an anomaly as I’ve heard nothing but good things from friends however we waited an hour and 20 minutes for food (after be warned of a 45 min wait). The food then came out cold therefore needed to be sent back for a further 10 minutes. I accept that this was a busy lunch time however people that entered after us were served their food first. The food was just average and pricey. Such a shame as it is a lovely spot which I’d have enjoyed visiting again.

I was bought a voucher for afternoon tea for two. Absolutely lovely. Gent who served us was very polite, the tea was beautiful, very fresh, scones gorgeous, with not only cakes but a beautiful selection of quiche, brucshetta slices and sandwiches with salad garnish. Probably the best afternoon tea Id ever had in all honesty. 5 stars, and thanks again to the gent who looked after us. Good old fashioned polite customer service.

Lovely cafe, it was reasonably busy but didn’t feel overcrowded or loud which was a refreshing change, but not a particularly extensive menu for a fussy eater like myself. I didn’t choose to go here, so maybe the menu is adequate for some. I had a chicken bacon mayo sandwich which was ok, but the top layer of bread felt like it had been left open or near a heat lamp, the bottom piece of bread perfectly fine, the sandwich was ok, but requested no salad, got salad. Not sure why such simple requests are so difficult but I’m used to it. Chips were nice. I also had a salted caramel latte, which was also ok. I acknowledge I’m fussy, so maybe this place is ok for some, the other members of my group didn’t voice any issues but then neither did I.

Plants are good condition but on the whole expensive, can get most things here for garden. Friendly staff. EV charging 2 points, I wanted to charge and find a car not being charged parked in the bay!!!!! Person returned and said no other space available, told him cannot park unless charging, wasted breath.... Some people are terrible, just me, me, me....

What a lovely place, it's spacious, lovely atmosphere ( not your typical noisy coffee shop) . We both had breakfast and coffee and the food quality was excellent and the prices are very good.

What a great find thanks to a quick search on Google maps! We were passing through the area on the m5 and looking for a lunch stop. Only 2 mins off the motorway and a great independent cafe with lovely homemade food, atmosphere and fair prices. Everything was delicious, the staff were welcoming, helpful and courteous, the decor tasteful and nice loos! The little garden centre also seems popular with good quality looking plants and nice little gifts. One to remember for future journeys.

Have just got back from my daughter's baby shower and I have to just give this wonderful place the best review I can. From start to finish I cannot fault it, from my initial email , to booking , to the actual day itself I have received nothing but the best service. We had the room exclusively and were allowed in earlier to decorate as we wanted, 27 guests in total. Food and service absolutely spot on we had the buffet but we could of had an afternoon tea but chose the buffet, delicious and plenty of it, staff were fab, friendly and efficient, can't fault our experience and my daughter had lovely time ,. I highly recommend The potting shed 😁

Id say the food is OK I had a fish and chips but the fish was really greasy, and I felt like I was asking for too much when it came to sauces as I got the impression they were on a cost saving mission! Also the main menu which includes the burger, thai curry etc isnt valid which was a bit of a let down

First class service, food and surroundings. Went on spec for my daughter’s 21st birthday lunch for 6 of us and nothing was too much trouble. The staff really make it fabulous though. Huge thanks! Definitely going back. Chips were amazing and no short cuts on any of the food. All quality ingredients. Lasagne / egg n smashed avocado/ fish finger sarnie. All yummy.

Visited The Potting Shed today, for the first time…and I was NOT disappointed!! Went for breakfast, I had eggs Benedict and my partner had the big full breakfast, and everything was cooked to PERFECTION! The staff were also super friendly, and the coffee was absolutely wonderful! I will 100% be returning and I’ll be recommending the place to everyone I know! 5 star for EVERYTHING !

Staff friendly and efficient. Food good and good portions too. A little on the pricy side but worth it. With a rustic comfortable ambience ,within a garden centre with a wonderfull selection of plants,shrubs,ect. Unfortunately on 30th Jan after laying flowers on my parents resting place and local walk .I Was VERY,VERY DISAPOINTED when we went to have a coffee and cake at the potting shed,only to be stoped at the door at 3.30 and told they were closed. Totaly understand they close at 4pm. Even though their opening times say 9 - 5 on the door .The gentleman (I use the word gentleman lightly ) informed us aggressively that they had stoped serving . My family and I have used the potting shed on many occasions in the past . But has left me not wanting to visit again. Thankyou for making a very sad day even worse

A busy café even on a Wednesday late morning with a lot of delicious food. We loved the full English breakfast and coffees. The garden centre is a bonus to enjoy.

We turned up as walk ins. They were very busy but squeezed both of us in on a table for two. It was lovely.

A cosy, welcoming coffee break cafe, attached to Singleton's nurseries. A good selection of beverages and food choices. Best to book a table as it can get busy. There is a car park with disabled parking. I noticed there was access for wheelchairs. A good place to meet up with friends. Would recommend a visit.

Attended the rescheduled shopping evening, after the original night was cancelled due to a burst pipe closing the road. It was worth the wait! The food was amazing, the service impeccable and the atmosphere perfect. Had such a great night. Thank you

I always get a warm welcome, delicious breakfast and good service here. The perfect spot for food and a good chat with friends and there's plenty of space so usually you don't feel hurried out.

We had a fabulous Afternoon Tea celebration for 15 of us for my Best Friend's Hannah's Baby Shower. Ellen and the team at The Potting Shed were extremely friendly and helpful and gave an excellent all round service. The food, venue and warm atmosphere was perfect in every way. So much food included in the afternoon tea- I would highly recommend. Ellen also allowed me to bring in my own finishing touches to the venue which I was really grateful for. Thank you to you all x
