The food was excellent and the service was great.

I came here with friends and was not impressed by the menu. It is just pub grub . I did not enjoy the food that was served.

We waited a few minutes on arrival, even though it wasn't yet busy. Steak and chips excellent, cooked exactly as requested. Onion rings could maybe have done with another minute in the pan to really crisp up, but that's to carp.

We were the only people in there after 9.30 pm apart from a couple of old men. They turned a few groups away while we were there. They closed the shutters on us even though they do not close until 11pm. I understand they don't want to keep the bar open for not many people but we were still paying customers, and they had turned away paying customers. Rude service, will not be back.

Met with family who were visiting from the Antipodeas. Great staff, great food, great place, GREAT NIGHT!!!!!

Very disappointing, will not be back, would not recommend. Had to ask for cutlery, no-one asked if everything was ok, no-one asked did we want a desert or tea and coffee. My friend didn't want the bbq dip that came with the meal and asked to change it to another sauce. The girl made such a big deal about it and charged her for the difference sauce. It was as if the staff couldn't wait to get us out. The girl made a big deal when we all wanted to pay separately. She didn't have a clue. Had to go find a calculator to work out what change to give. Not a great overall.

Great atmosphere to watch sports , good food and drink . One of the staff Christian was very friendly . Recommend.

Best stop in my trip! Totally recommend it. My friend and I decided to eat something before going ice staking at the Ice Bowl. The Poet offered a two course for £20 deal so we decided to sit in. The food was delicious with good sized portions. The staff was very friendly. Ll

1st time here tonight with family and boy was it good . Soz I didn't take pictures as I wasn't expecting it to be do good . We had bbq chicken wings delicious and steak and honey glazed goujons my partner and I shared this and our friend's had burgers and chicken stack and they all where amazing . The pepper sauce was so tasty . Tbh best meal I've had in a v long time . Great friendly helpful staff xx

Called in here whilst out on a cycle along the greenway. It had a really nice relaxed friendly atmosphere and was nice sitting out in the sun until the rain started. Of special note was the superb guinness poured by young chap behind the bar who was excellent at his work. A really good pint which had be stay for 3 more than planned.

Great laid back atmosphere of a pub with delicious food. Family friendly too!

Lovely wee place with good ambience, fresh food with decent portion size and helpful staff.

This is great place to have a romantic dinner for 2 or a family dinner. It is a good bar to catch up with friends and have a nice night out. When you walk into The Poet you don't feel out of place or people are looking at you the way you feel sometimes in other bars. Staff are really friendly.

First time here and will be back. Nice cosy feel about the place and good service. Food was enjoyed by our whole party. We will return soon....

My friend & i had called this evening at The Poet to share a bottle of wine and have a perhaps a wee snack but at 7.20pm Kitchen already closed and if your are having a drink we had to leave by 10pm..bit early 😕

Gary and the team always go that extra mile to deliver excellent service and top quality, delicious food . Guinness 10 out of 10 every time I visit.

Used to love the Poet but sadly the service now is very poor not enough staff to deal with customers also seems to be no Atmosphere any more, used to have a good buzz in there not now more, seem to cater more now for people eating seem to have forgot about there loyal regulars who have been supporting the Poet for years.Poet Management pull your finger out.!!

Basically got turfed out just after 10.30 because it was no longer busy. Have been before and enjoyed it but tonight's experience means I definitely won't be back!

Just popped in for a couple of cappuccino and a chinwag with an old friend. Service was very friendly and efficient. Cappuccinos were good, served hot and with a smile from the barman. Would definitely return for dinner based on the experience today. Good service always merits a return trip.

There only for a quick drink so no criticism appropriate or fair. There at 18.30 and place was very busy.

Saturday night. Last minute decision to go out. No problem getting a table. A little noisy as football team in, after their match. Felt their choice on menu had downsized a bit, but still served tasty food - Starters Prawn cocktail and Breaded Brie followed by mains - Peppered Chicken Stack on mash , Steak Sandwich/ pepper sauce on Ciabatta with Skinny Chips. White wine choice. Staff friendly and attentive.

Sometimes it has a bit of a social club vibe if you are going with friends for a drink and the ruins the atmosphere. But when I went in for food with my partner. the food was incredible and the service was top 🙂

Food was surprisingly good....and staff very pleasant and helpful...one star less because my husband was brought a very poor attempt at an Irish Coffee...but would go again

It is a pretty good restaurant though looks quite depressing from outside during the day. However, at night it is incredibly active.

Went to the lonely poet today for brunch , ordered the sweet chilli chicken goujons and the steak sandwich so that me and the other half could have a bit of beef and bird , both meals where superb , tasty and just enough to feel full without feeling bloated , think it deserves a weekly visit 👍👍😄 ps best pepper sauce in Belfast 🙌
