Blue Chicago Grill in Castlereagh

January 2023 and my first visit in 3yrs and I promised my guest they would enjoy as our food would arrive promptly after we placed our order- what an understatement that was. Whilst the ordering and drinks arriving was prompt, it all fell apart then. Food took 40mins to arrive, the last 5mins I actually could see the dishes sitting waiting to be sent to our table. And when it arrived, my legendary chicken stack was just about warm- far from acceptable and seemed to have shrunk in size... The reason for the poor service, chef issues. An offer of a new dish was turned down, I couldn't face another long wait. Whilst our drinks came free as compensation, It was for me an embarrassing visit as I had foolishly gave such a glowing review to my quest. To sum up, disappointed- and will I return, no! As in my previous review- is the price justifiable?

Been here 2-3 times but this is the 1st review and each time I've been here it's always been very good, so no complaints. There have been a few negative reviews of late, certainly that was not my experience. Also, while we are in the current 'post-covid, post-brexit' economic downturn there was no shortcuts or cutting corners on quality or quantity - something I've noticed at other eating places. So, yes I will be back and yes I can recommend.

Service was quite poor when i went out for a birthday meal. Had to wait 20 minutes for one drink when everybody else at the table had already received there’s. Food was bland and presentation on the brisket and bird stack made me feel as though i was eating puréed baby food!!!!!! Restaurant seemed incredibly overwhelmed and understaffed which is a shame because i’ve heard nothing but good things about this restaurant

I can't say enough good things about this place we went here for my 30th birthday dinner all of us had a good time the service was great they even gifted me a birthday muffin with a candle they were so nice I will say we did have to wait about 10mins good vegetarian menu and when you ask for no cheese they give you no cheese

Amazing food, though pricey. The service is great, but it can be tricky to catch their attention if you need something or wish to pay the bill. All in all, a great place.

I'm delighted we discovered a decent restaurant in Belfast because the food was soo delicious. However, because of the powerful odor, my husband had politely inquired with the waiter if they were remodeling the place. "Yeah, but you can go to the next restaurant if you want; they have almost the same menu!" was his reply. Honestly, we thought that was strange and impolite! He might have said this because he noticed our children and was worried about the strong smell for young children, or he might have said it because he didn't give a damn about customers and acting rudely. To be honest, though, this didn't interfere with the service—it was excellent, and we will definitely revisit.

We were here for a 60th birthday party. My rump steak was cooked to perfection 👌🏻. Very friendly helpful staff.

I would like to write this review on how amazing the blue Chicago staff were. I ordered food for collection and because of the long wait. They gave me my food for free. I would like to thank you all the staff members on being so helpful and especially to the staff member Jackson and the other staff member who was with him at the time as well. I would recommend this place to so many people. The food is unbelievable and the staff members are really nice. Thanks again to all the staff members.

2 of us ordered medium rare steaks and they came out well done. All other dishes were fine. Staff friendly tho hard to find at times.

Didn't have to wait too long for tables. Food was served quick enough for being so busy. Waiting staff very attentive.

Top-line: Not Worth It! I doubt I'll be back here again, it simply wasn't even close to being worth the money. I had the honey garlic chicken sizzler but there was practically no honey or garlic flavour at all. It was just a dry, overcooked, crispy chicken sizzler with the only other flavours being the few veg that came with it. Simply not good enough for £17.50 - this is the same cost of a main course in The Dirty Duck or in The Old Inn in crawfordsburn. I actually had the same dish (or close enough) in The Dirty Duck before, £18 there I believe, and boy oh boy does that extra 50p go a long way. They really need to cook the chicken for a shorter time and it is literally crying out for a glaze or a sauce on the side. How much would a a small spot of delicious sauce cost them, 20p or there abouts. Partner had a aimilar story with the beef and bird sizzler. Her beef was ok and the chicken was, again, massively overcooked. The saving grace here was that at least she'd a wee pot of pepper cream sauce to give the meat a little flavour. Then there's their general pricing. They charge you £4 to upgrade your side to "house fries". I would have liked the salt n chilli fries. At £6 they are £2 more expensive than the normal sides that are included with your meal. It's only £2 but come on, why are they being stupid when trying to upsell something? Had to decline on principal. You can verify everything I've complained about in the photos I've uploaded with this review, including their rediculous pricing. Edited only to fix some typos I made on my phone. Content is exactly the same as before.

Good food and a great atmosphere

Went to our favourite spot before the cinema. Seated right away by a lovely girl and orders taken. The wife and i had the steak which was amazing and cooked perfectly for us. Grandaughter had chicken burger. All meals were hot and we were checked on how our meals were. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Will defnitely be back.

Famaly of 4 mothers 80th birthday meal. On arrival quickly shown to to a booth and given menus. Had to ask to get order taken after about 10 minutes. Once order taken drinks and for food quickly arrived with check everything was good shortly afterwards. Three of us had different burgers and all three good, the other had the beef brisket with champ also good but small amount of brisket over cooked making it like crunchy leather. Plenty of food in all meals. Burgers were half price which was a bonus. Recommended.

Booked here for a party of 18 for my brother in-laws birthday. From the time of booking and having the party, the service was 5star. The staff from pre ordering the food and service by 2 young gentlemen went totally smoothly. Arriving with a party of 18 can be stressful but they made it so easy. Very attentive and helpful. We had 2 people in wheelchairs and they were happy to arrange the tables to accommodate. Will defo be back and would recommend this restaurant for future party's.

Have been hearing about this place for ages so decided to pay a visit. The menu is huge - so many options to choose from. I went for the chicken stack which was chicken, mash, tobacco onions and pepper sauce. It was delicious. The chicken was super fresh and loved the sauce. Portions are very generous. My partner had a burger which was enormous looking. The service was really good, everyone was super friendly and food arrived much more quickly that expected as it seemed busy. I would definitely visit again.

Went today looking forward to their advertised Sunday Roast. Both dinners came out cold as if the meats had been cooked Saturday night and reheated on the Sunday. The vegetables werent much warmer either although the roast potatoes were good and hot. Left disappointed having paid £18 a dinner with cold meats. Wont be rushing back but will try other restaurants in that area as there are a few with similar menus.

Waiter was fabulous Jackson. He went over the offers came back to see if everything was ok. He couldn't of done more. I bought a gift voucher and decided to have lunch glad I did it was such a good experience.

Just back from a family Sunday dinner. Seated quickly even though it looked quite busy. Food was fantastic. Brisket stack went down a treat. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Thank you.

Greeted promptly served surprisingly quickly with our drinks. The chicken strips were big and the Brisket stack was awesome . Will definitely be back here .

Don't bother wasting your time if you have an allergy. Essentially everything has the possibility of being cross contaminated. This has to be one of the only restaurants I have been to in the last 5 years that has been unable to serve me anything without there being a possibility of cross contamination. Although I declared my allergies when we arrived they didn't tell us there were no options nor that everything had the chance of being cross contaminated, they simply said pick something off the menu and they will check. Once I picked something they checked then sent over a more senior colleague to explain about the issues above, I was then later offered an opportunity option of limited sides such as mash which I questioned due to my dairy allergy and then was informed I couldn't have it and the only option was salad. Needless to say in this day and age when allergies are commonplace and all restaurants have at least a limited menu it is surprising that Blue Chicago gets away with this lack of consideration.

Visited with my wife and have to say food was really good and plenty of it bbq style food that seems to be the locals go to as every restaurant beside this place basically all had the same menu but hey ho we we’re happy with our choice service was quick and friendly would recommend this wee place

We met a local and asked where can we eat around and he sent us here. We didn't know the size of the portions so we ordered quite a lot of dishes. When everything came we were wow... but tried to eat everything. Obviously we couldn't so we asked the waitress to have them to go. Was no problem and we took away what we couldn't eat. The bill was very acceptable for the amount of food we ordered. Also they have free parking and staff is very nice.

I ordered the salted chilli chicken and when it arrived it was pink, I then politely asked if I could get a replacement as I wasn't comfortable eating it and then the second salted chilli chicken was exactly the same. Also asked for an extra coke and waited 15 minutes for it to be sent down but it didn't appear so I had to go up and get it. Ridiculous. The champ also tasted like dirt.

Excellent staff, wonderful atmosphere and excellent food. Would highly recommend a visit, but be aware, its a popular place. There was a queue out of the front door when we were leaving.

Very disappointed with my most recent visit to Blue Chicago. The food is usually pretty good here. Ordered chicken fajitas which were tasteless - chicken was chewy and rubbery and the veg was just a wet mush. Have had this dish before in their sister restaurants but would not order from here again - didn't eat very much of it. Partner ordered the chicken basket and the chips were hard and dried up as if they had been cooked and then reheated. Would not recommend on this occasion.

Second time being here for dinner with my better half,and the second time just like the first was superb we will definitely be back again,the staff where extremely well mannered and professional and polite,everything went smooth as you would like,we had to queue outside for maybe 10 minutes or so but were givin out menus so didn't mind atall as we were ready to order when we got our seats,the food was amazing and the atmosphere,so we shall be back for sure

Not been for a while but the gluten free choices are really poor now, limited to a couple of mains now as all fried food is cooked together apparently. Two coeliacs in party of four. My chilli chicken sizzler had a tremendous amount of oil left on the plate, house salad was nice. Santa fe chicken stand alone pepper sauce never arrived for one person and mushrooms served on another despite asking for none,

Absolutely georgous food I had the Burger with pork pit in it and sweet potato fries absolutely delicious

You know what your getting in here I think. We went for an anniversary meal. My partner said the salted chicken was a little too salty but good. I had the steak sandwich and it was lovely.Staff are quick and polite. Only if hing got us which is no reflection on the restaurant is kids running around. For that reason I wouldn’t be coming here for a romantic meal again. But food is good.

Have been going here as a family for years. Our family are now in their twenties but still love it. An American style dinner so usual selection of burgers, chicken, steak etc. Service always prompt. Booths can be a little cramped. Great for families although not cheap

Arrived here pre cinema and was seated promptly. It was immediately clear that the table had been clean with a dirty bacteria ridden cloth. I had to ask one of the very young staff to give it a wipe, though I never once said a half hearted wipe, that was what I got.Menu was ok but again too much stuff on it. I ordered the chicken Santa Fe and poutine chips, well frig me I’ve had better food from a roadside van. Someone really out to take this place in hand.

Would be in every couple of weeks food as never been disappointing always warm and plenty of it, staff are excellent, seating is comfortable relaxing.

This is a really nice American Diner place serving amazing and delicious foods. The jackfruit starters are really good but not the same with crispy chicken starters which is average.The main course with the vegeterian foods and the meats menu is really great. The santa Fe served is very good.Finally the hot chocolate brownie with ice-cream is the show stopper. Definitely recommended.

We had a great dinner earlier tonight . There was a queue when we arrived but we didn't have to wait long before being seated . Comfortable , spacious booth and varied menu . Very tasty food and great , friendly service .

Went here for a large extended family meal, firstly id say it's a lovely looking restaurant and a nice ambiance although the music being played was not to my taste. The service was good and drinks orders were taken quickly, food orders also, This is where things started to go wrong, when food was served there was a lack of condiments, not assisted buy not being asked buy there server and due to the size of the group some never had a chance. The restaurant was far from busy at this point. Had to go searching for condiments such as vinegar and mustard which should be on the table in my opinion, The food was generally good I had the sizzle platter which was what id had the time I visited previously, it certainly was not as good! The onions were burned and had a bitter taste which had spread onto the meat, the chicken was fine the bacon chop delicious the steak was overcooked, ordered medium and had well, and mine and another member of the parties were full of gristle, also when you order steak you usually are given a steak knife, not here your not! You have to go ask for it.. This dish previous included a sausage and was much better value. The others had chicken stacks and burgers which went down very well. The french fries were over cooked and would not recommend them Overall it is acceptable though there is a serious lack of attention to detail throughout the experience which means I cannot recommend it.

Me and 4 others ate here yesterday for a friend's birthday lunch. Safe to say we weren't disappointed. The servers were all brilliant-- customer service was faultless. I had the fruit punch cocktail and it was one of the nicest I've had. The food range has great variety, so plenty to choose from.

Blue Chicago has a menu that suits everyone. Staff are quick with orders and food is well presented. Excellent value, great for families and a good atmosphere.

We find that this restaurant has all the food that we really enjoy with reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and quick. Go back all the time.

Just had the most amazing lunch... Brisket stack with buttery champ, tobacco onions and peppercorn sauce The brisket was plenty, well cooked and melted in the mouth It was £9.99 and money well spent

We had a really nice dinner after the cinema . Great menu , lots of choice . Food was piping hot and really tasty . Staff were all very pleasant and friendly as well as efficient .

What can I say about this place. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The menu has plenty on it. The food was amazing. Without a doubt we will be back again.

The service was good. My rib and steak combo was good. The steak was less than quality due to gristle but the the ribs fell off the bones. My wife's chicken was excellent.

Very helpful and attentive staff. Portion size big. If you like fast food this is the place for you.

Been a few times and found it a good place to meet with friends. Portions are a bit large but reasonable variety.

My two brother and I, plus our wives, enjoyed an excellent dinner at this busy little restaurant. We were impressed when the staff were so accommodating when they saw that we had a special needs person. The food was great, ranging from fish and chips, chicken fingers, sante fe chicken, nachos, and bangers and mash. Claire, our server, was very friendly and attentive. Terrific staff, wonderful service, and extremely tasty food-a top class dining experience.

Ate here with family recently. Food was very nice, portions were rather on the large side. Prices in the norm. My only slight complaint would be the table and seats were not cleaned properly after previous customer. Apart from that, an enjoyable meal

This was my favourite place to go and eat out until last night went in got seated straight away as it wasn’t as busy as usual the girl came and took our order and that’s where things went bad she was rushing us and trying to leave before I had even finished telling her what I wanted. The food arrived and it was beautiful as always but I didn’t see my waitress again even when my drink sat empty at the edge of the table in the end my partner called someone over to get me another drink we then sat for 30 mins waiting to order desserts before giving up and going to the till paying the bill and leaving I could under stand the lack of service if it was busy but on the side of the restaurant I was on it was only us and another family and 3 members of staff where cleaning the place even thou it was almost 2 hours before closing ... disappointing won’t be back

My wife has Coeliacs and cannot tolerate any thing with Gluten , we have been here many times before and always had a great experience.

Family meal 2 adults and 1 child. I am lactose and dairy intolerant as well as intolerant to cornflour. Very limited options available and took a while to work out of there was anything i vould have thought we were going to have to leave at one point, ended up with a basic plain burger and fries that was smaller than my daughter's kids meal. Food was ok service was good and it was clean. Other 2 meals were very good would have a higher rating if had more options for people with dietary requirements

Great place to eat before or after a visit to the cinema, but at the end of the month book early as it does fill up fast.

I have visited this restaurant a couple of times recently and have been very impressed by the friendly service. Staff were very willing to explain the menu and alter some dishes so that we could get what we wanted. The menu is wide ranging, American Diner style. We were all very pleased with our meals which arrived quickly and had real taste. The salad on the “sides” menu is excellent and my favourite dish is Santa Fe chicken.

We went to blue Chicago last Sunday for lunch and it was excellent as usual ! Blue rib combo with strawberry milkshake and my wife had the chicken stack , also excellent .

Had the Cajun Mushrooms, very tasty indeed. For Mains I had Ribs and Chicken Combo as per photo. Just too much but was absolutely delicious . Would recommend.

Until about a year ago we lived near the lisburn version of this chain.

This was the original eatery to open beside the Omniplex and still the best. Healthy sized portions and a constantly evolving menu.

We ate here for lunch. The menu looked like typical ‘American Diner’ style, and I wasn’t expecting too much. The food was very good, the portion sizes were large and we were pleasantly surprised. The service we received was good.

Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, although a little on the expensive side. We try to avoid these themed places. But this was an exception , staff were good and service was quick. Worth a try if you like generic style American diners.

Good food, good variety on the menu and has a great gluten free menu. It’s handy that you don’t need to book especially for those nights you decide you don’t fancy cooking!

Ate here on sunday after being at the ice bowl. Service was first class, menu has a lot of variety and the food is to die for. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and i will definately be back here again!!

Fast service good burger . Can be noisy so be warned. The service is always good and staff seem well trained in being efficient
