We recently booked and visited this establishment for a Sunday roast / 93rd birthday party, (not me by the way!) as we were staying locally for the weekend. Well what can I say!!, as soon as I arrived, the outside looked like someone’s house in this tiny, yet beautiful village, however once over the threshold it became apparent how large and beautiful the inside of this pub was, even Doctor Who would’ve been impressed with this tardis! I and another family member were greeted by a warm and friendly faced landlady, and she was a lady! Asked where we were from and made us feel incredibly welcome, then she let herself down by undercharging us for our pints £4.50 each!! At home in Wiltshire I pay £6.50 for the very same pint. We were shown to our own large table (11 people), set on our own. This restaurant was impeccable. The food was perfect with some difficult family members dietary requirements, even the chef came to the table which turned out to be the landlord, what a nice guy he was too. This place was so good, I felt only obliged to buy the landlord and landlady a drink to say thank you for looking after us. After giving the 93-year-old the bumps to celebrate, we left happy and fulfilled. Thank you guys!

This place really is exceptional! We went for Sunday lunch; slow cooked local beef, turkey, rich gravy, large homemade yorkshires, cauliflower cheese, perfect roast potatoes, pigs in blankets plus additional seasonal veg! All cooked to perfection and served by personable staff. We immediately booked to go the following week and take more of our family. Looking forward to trying a Saturday evening bbq sharing platter soon! Great job guys, see you again soon!

I would recommend the pizza night and the Sunday lunch as we have visited several times (with more to follow!) Diolch yn fawr i bawb yn Y Plough! :)

Now, I heard some rather good things about this place from neighbours and locals in Carmarthenshire. Unfortunately, I was not even given the chance to see if these were accurate. This is written on behalf of a friend (though I was present) who is so upset and confounded by the behaviour from this restaurant that we will never be going there and advising all those who need recommendations to avoid eating here at all costs. After deciding to go to a restaurant for her husband's birthday, she decided to enquire for a table. She filled out the booking form which, at the end, clearly states 'request booking'. After this, she received no information or confirmation from the restaurant and assumed there had been a communication error. This happened with multiple other places whereupon she has received no confirmation or even acknowledgment that a booking was made. She messaged again on Facebook today looking for a table to book this week, and not minutes later received a phone call from a woman who was grossly disrespectful and attacked her personal character. Accusing her of purposefully wanting them to lose money and being incredibly rude, my friend was nothing but apologetic and sorry for the possible mistake despite not having had confirmation. After the woman's absolutely abhorrent and disgusting accusations that my friend was an 'annoyance', she immediately, without looking for any kind of explanation why this may have occurred or consideration that this was a problem on their behalf, outright denied her request for a belated birthday dinner this coming friday. After this, she scoured her emails, went through the spam and trash and all recent phone messages trying to hide her distraught that she may have been the problem. What did she find, even with my help? Nothing. I encouraged her to phone back, which she eventually did, and was told the woman who originally phoned my friend was unavailable. A man answered the phone and my friend explained the situation, to which he immediately and once again went on the offensive and tried to blame her for not searching through spam (which she had, me beside her!!). To be honest, he's probably sick of handling angry calls from patrons if that is how they treat people THEY have not managed to effectively communicate with. He also said that their food was made in advance which meant by us apparently not turning up to the booking made them lose 'significant' amounts of money. To be honest, if they are making entire meals that far in advance with nobody ordering them, I doubt I would even want the food anyway. So, either their food is made hours in advance and then served to the patron, or they were lying. Either is a bad look for the business and not at all how I would wish my restaurant to treat their patrons. Luckily, all their interaction did was compound a negative view of the restaurant. I will not be eating here and encourage any others to call when booking (save yourselves the lack of communication and then awfully rude random calls when somebody is TRYING to get in contact to eat at YOUR restaurant!) At the end of the day, we're paying for the meal. I cannot fathom that this a way to treat anyone. Totally and completely unprofessional and none of us have ever been treated like this by a restaurant. I think people should consider very carefully if they want to eat at a place that makes such unprofessional and disgusting personal attacks.

Had a superb meal at The Plough Inn, Felingwm on Saturday evening. Loved the stress free delicious one choice menu, great owners and staff and dog friendly too! The food at the pub is a bit different to most places. The night we visited there was one choice of main which was beef cooked on the barbecue. Everybody arrives at pretty much the same time and the food is brought out when it is ready. I enjoyed the starter, although it didn't really fit with the main course. The beef off the barbecue was cooked very nicely. We didn't really like the vegetables that were served with the beef. The staff were very friendly and attentive and there is a good range of different beers to go with the food

What a fantastic find even though i only live seven miles away. The warmest welcome you could wish from owners and staff.A real pub with gourmet food. No Michelin stars but worth 5. The food which consisted of a grazing starter followed by 16 hour cooked beef rib for three and a garlic free steak cooked over a wood fire for one. Fantastic, every plate licked clean. The chef introduced us to each plate and joined the customers when the kitchen had closed. Superb meal and fantastic evening.

We had the warmest of welcomes from the hosts, who were happy to chat in Welsh and in English. We had a delicious locally made cider in bottles, and good hot coffee (it was a freezing day). The food was plentiful and extremely tasty, especially the homemade focaccia and venison ragu as part of the sharing starter and the slow-cooked beef rib main. All the puddings sounded delicious, but we couldn't manage one! Byddwn yn ol i gael pwdin y tro nesa! Diolch yn fawr iawn.

Went with local friends who highly recommended this pub experience. Probably wouldn’t have stumbled across this on our own. It was a fantastic meal little choice but that meant we had loads of small samples of everything so no decisions and no plate envy of what other people had ordered. Every bit of food was delicious and we couldn’t finish everything so generous as well. Probably not for every week but special occasions, friends over, romantic treat. A great experience and different from the majority of pubs. Would highly recommend.

We were reccomended this lovely Inn by the owner of the cottage we rented. The food is unique and out of this world. We went on a Saturday evening, when there is a set menu. (Booking Highly Reccomended). The friendly helpful hosts, talked us through the fine food they offered. The food is served hot from the kitchen and is flavoursome, eyecatching and moreish. We tucked into 3 types of meat. Beef slow cooked in onions and guiness for over 12 hours, Ham Hock cooked in Honey and Mustard and Chicken cooked in lemon and herbs. The hosts came round to offer second helpings, which we readilly accepted. The choice of desserts was excellent, though I only had room for Icecream, my husband tucked into Cheesecake. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with most of the other people in the room being locals who dine on a regular basis. We will definitely be returning.

We came to The Plough at Fellingham in a party of 4, seeking a hearty evening meal. We were led in and offered drinks at around 6:55, and asked if we wanted the starter at 7. We replied “certainly yes”, and it arrived to our table 10 minutes later. The starter consisted of 2 types of salami, 1 piece of focaccia per person, 2 types of cheese from Caws Cenarth (Cryf and Perl Wen), courgette fries, and olives for sharing. While we enjoyed the courgette fries and foccacia, we found the chunks of cheese a bit crude and random. We suggest that cheese could be used as an ingredient, such as in Glamorgan sausages. These could be cooked in the deep fryer presumably used to make the courgette fries! After we had finished eating, the starter was taken from our table at 7:33. The main course came 8 minutes later. That consisted of several generous slices of steak per person, mushrooms in a smooth buttery dressing, salad, fries, coleslaw, and chimichurri. This show-stopping steak had a great smoky flavour. It had the texture of rare steak, but the flavour of more well-done steak, which I loved. The mushrooms were also well-cooked and paired well with the meat. We enjoyed both the salad and coleslaw, and it would be great to have more of each. And as for the fries, they had an ideal diameter and crunchy outside, with no soggy or pasty flavour detectable. All in all, the main course alone was excellent enough to convince us to come back again. In the meantime, one of the proprietors showed us the equipment outside, at the back of the restaurant. He even gave us recommendations for which grill to buy (a YODER grill if you were wondering). We also learnt that pizza was served on Thursdays, and a “Sunday roast” on Sundays. As for the puddings, there was a range of options: among our group, one person (me) chose sticky toffee pudding: a moist, dense dessert with a caramelised flavour. Another member of our party chose banoffee pie, which was “average with not a lot of flavour”. Two people chose orange and almond cake, which was gluten free. This was “very moist without being claggy, and not too sweet”. The overarching theme here is a classic restaurant with a genuine desire to provide high-quality food to its customers. And while a few details need ironing out, such as the foods included in the starters, the overall quality of the meals was excellent. We will definitely come back here again.

An excellent experience. There is a set menu for starters and mains (although there is an option to request a vegetarian meal in advance). We had local cheese and ham to start, followed by a massive steak cooked over burning wood on a Brazilian style grill. The amount of meat was generous. It came with sides of chips, coleslaw, salad, mushrooms etc. It is not particularly fancy - in fact it is all very straightforward in the best sense of the term - but very nicely done, particularly the meat cookery over wood fire which is obviously a very unusual feature. Very friendly hosts too. A welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!!!

Came here recently with friends having not been here in 10 years. We received a warm, friendly welcome. We chose our drinks first of all, and was very impressed with the wine list - a wide variety, something to suit all tastes. Next we received the food menu, and I noticed that it hadn't actually changed in the 10 years since I was last there. I didn't really mind, although I would have liked a little more choice, especially with the starters. Perhaps a pate could be added to the menu? I chose a prawn cocktail for my starter, and it was nice enough. A generous portion, but it could have done with some more seafood sauce. I felt it was better the last time I was here, but still nice enough. As the chicken chasseur I'd had the last time I was there was out of this world, I ordered that again, but I must admit, I was a little disappointed. It was ok, but not amazing - not as good as it was the last time I was there. They gave us dry chicken on the plate, with the sauce in a seperate jus to pour over it - last time I was there, the chicken was in the sauce already. I'm not sure if that made a difference, but I felt the recipe had changed too. This time, it had a rather strong taste of a herb. I'm not sure which herb - oregano perhaps? It was ok, but not fantastic. I was disappointed considering how much I'd enjoyed it last time, and was regretting not going for the lasagne. The chips that came with it however were absolutely delicious. I very much enjoyed them. For pudding, I had the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, which was delicious and was the best part of the meal.

I am not from the area and came here recently on a reservation made by a family member who lives locally, and as such spent my meal trying to be polite and not offend, however the food was just simply terrible and not of the standard I would expect based on the moderately high prices charged. This is what looks like a local country pub charging gastro pub prices, but the food was no where near that standard. I had a mushroom starter which was swimming in a tangy cream sauce that was not balanced in flavour, not great but I was hungry and it was ok so I ate it. My main was the lasagne, however it was not even close to being a lasagne and was completely inedible! I ate maybe two bites and gave up on it as it offended my mouth, couldn't see much mince meat in it, the tomato sauce tasted like a very sweet tomato ketchup, couldn't taste the béchamel as there wasn't much of it and it was overpowered by the tomato sauce, and then what both looked like and tasted like a meat gravy on top (like you would have on a Sunday roast), Italians everywhere would be confused by this dish as it didn't resemble any lasagne that I have ever tasted (and I eat out a lot!), and to be honest a cheap budget microwavable lasagne from Iceland or Tesco's would be more pleasant to eat. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding, which did come in a nice toffee sauce although the pudding itself was slightly over-cooked and burnt tasting, I ate it anyway as it was OK and I was still hungry having not eaten my main but definitely not the best I've had. I would honestly never return to this pub

Best lamb with mint sauce around! And surrounding the restaurant area is a wonderful family-friendly pub. Lots of laughing-but restaurant is not too loud to hear your dining partner talk. The servers were very friendly and food arrived quickly. Deliciously authentic...

If your looking for a good hearty meal with plenty of food on your plate and excellent quality you won't go far wrong by booking to eat here!!........Steaks are cooked perfectly and unlike most places you don't have to order extra side dishes to go with your steak......you get a great plateful of food here, highly recommend the food here......they are very consistent on the quality of all food served and excellent service in a lovely spotlessly clean country pub!!

We have been to The Plogh Inn with family, and friends from Melbourne who are 5 star fine diners. They throughly enjoyed the duck and the lamb.We have never been disappointed. There has been a bit of a wait at peak times, but it's well worth the wait.Great wood burner .Think they could ditch the huge TV.

Visited here for the first time in many years, the landlord was welcoming the pub was clean and food was really well presented. Prices were reasonable and portions large so much so that we couldn't have sweet.

The food is average pub grub, quite reasonably priced, but there is absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. None. You may as well eat a sandwich on a park bench.

Went here 3 times in one week. Think that says it all in my eyes. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent decor and ambience. A truly faultless place to dine. However it aint cheap if you want the quality they provide.

Have been there before, but only as a couple, during quiet evenings. This time we were a group of 10 out for a fun Saturday night! Pub was a lot busier this time, and although bar service was understandably slower, all our meals were still as delicious as ever - and the young staff kept smiling throughout, with nothing being too much trouble. We had relatives from Australia dining with us, who were mightily impressed! I would always recommend this place.

Ate here on a quiet ?Monday evening as many other places were closed. Excellent duo of lamb followed by delicious buttermilk pannacotta. Everything else emerging from the kitchen also looked tempting.

Me and my partner visited the Plough and we we're welcomed very warmly by the owner. We ordered drinks and our starters/mains. We had a minimum wait until our starters/mains arrived. The food was beautiful and cooked to perfection! I was a little shocked at how cheap the food was priced compared to the quality & taste of the food! I would definitely recommend going here! Im definitely visiting again!

Called in on the off chance, they were very accommodating. Menu was traditional/basic (could say slightly limited, but everything was home made and cooked fresh to perfection, which to be fair I'd prefer). They managed to blend traditional and contemporary very well (e.g. Chips were served in a white tin bowl with a blue rim, one of those retro camping dishes that appear to be trendy these days).Staff were very helpful, friendly and we didn't have to wait long. It was clean and tidy.Slightly expensive for the area (but I've paid more for worse elsewhere).O yes one more thing, they serve Bass beer on draught (traditional gas free 'pull'). Worth a visit for that

Arrived at the Plough without booking. When we arrived we were told that they were busy, and expecting a table of 10 to arrive but were happy to sort us out a table in the bar area. Whilst ordering our drinks we were told that there may be up to a 40 minute wait, which was fine as we hadn't booked. Service was quick with friendly staff. We both ordered a steak which arrived within 20minutes. Very tasty meal and will definitely be calling again. Thanks

This restaurant needs Gorden Ramsay, feel sorry for Gwen she needs to be properly trained, the food is of a very good quality, should be, the menu remains the same year in year out, think the service also remains the same, food good, probably the worst service in Wales. I cannot understand why when running a fairly remote restaurant the owner who is probably the chef and in the kitchen does not have a manger who understandsth simply customers want to be looked after? I will explain our experiences we have used this restaurant a number of times, each time the food has been excellent, the service has depressingly got worse. The person behind the bar seems to have as much personality as a turnip, and although I am clearly very much someone from the London area, she insists on speaking Welsh to her colleagues behind the bar without acknowledging me ta I need that. The food is served slowly which is never a problem when good, but, do not expect to be ignored by the staff especially when trying to pay a bill , personally am quite happy to walk out because I personally consider that when I go for a meal , there are certain phases I should go through for a great experience; a decent warm welcome not what appears to be an automated welcome good service comfortable seating, good food appropriate advice, prompt and easy paying. I need them someone to remain in the restaurant to keep an eye on customers needs. Unfortanately the staff after taking orders resorted to the kitchen where we could hear them loadly chatting until the food was ready, serving and then returning to kitchen, to be fair to them they did ask if everything was okay on their return, but did not venture out until they had to serve or collect. Therefore we spent a number of hours in seats which were not designed for an exensive stay. We eat on Friday 1st August as a birthday celebration, having booked a table for 7.30 pm. we will not be eating there again due to the service, would suggest that untikl the owner who has had plenty of feedback takes this on board find somewhere else there are plenty of alternatives, we had travelled ver twenty miles.to eat. We just hope the owner takes this feedback on board and chages things as we love to support our local and individual outlets rather than the muli chain

Waited almost an hour for food after we ordered, however, it was well worth the wait. Food was fantastic. The lamb chops were amazing and a good sized portion. Service was not very quick and don't expect to be served promptly at the bar for drinks. If you don't mind waiting and like good home cooked food then visit The Plough.

Enjoyed my meal here and felt it as good value for money. The menu was quite imaginative and the place was busy when we were there (a Sunday evening). Despite them coping with a party of 30 in their function room, the staff still looked after us well. They were also well kitted out to deal with diners with small children.

We were a party of 24, the atmosphere was excellent as were the staff. Food was outstanding, service was a bit slow but we were a party of 24 so its only to be expected. My wife has food allergies and was catered for with ease. I've never been here before but look forward to visiting again.

I have been to The Plough a few times over the years, and the meals are always consistently good, and it is so nice to be in a traditional style inn. I recommend advance booking because they are so popular with local residents. Some places focus their menus around meat and fish based meals and add a couple of microwaved meals for those of us who choose not to eat meat or fish. The meals here are good for all members of the party.
