They had on a event that they wanted families to come to. Someone had fainted. The paramedics had asked for a chair for the person.Some drunk thought someone was stealing his chair and started swearing in front of a young child and trying to cause a fight. When the someone was getting a chair that was asked for by the ambulance staff and when the incident occurred the bar staff did nothing.There was no bouncer or manager around. The guy should of been barred for life. In weatherspoon he would of have been. When someone asked the bar staff said although they allow children, they can't control customer's language, The drunk seemed to be working for the pub on the night and someone mentioned he was the DJ for the night. No manager got involved, bar staff watching and doing nothing. The guy who was swearing and wanted to fight should be banned or sacked. What decent human denies something that has been asked for by a paramedic!

Went to the ploughs sunday afternoon live music sessions to see pie face .band brilliant but marred by the plough have just two bar staff on for a packed pub .this is not the first time for a sunday session either .took 15 to 20 minutes in a crowded environment just to get a drink .bar staff on were excellent but the pub really needs to have more staff on when a busy afternoon expected. Puts me off attending again which us a real shame as the live music is excellent.

I am barred, and have been since the end of the first lockdown. I verbally abused Gemma, which was wrong, and I apologise. I am now informed that rumours are swirling that i hit the big boss John. I didn’t, i have never met him. My partner and friend went to the Plough for a meal and drink recently, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Plough is a proper local, god I miss playing pool ! I haven’t hit anyone since I was 17! My only defence is I was NHS 111 Covid Response at the time, no tests ,no vaccines and sod all support from anyone in power.

So great to see this place back on its feet, the new direction has made a huge difference and I'd strongly recommend a visit. warm welcomes, friendly staff, happy customers, great atmosphere, dreadful karaoke singers! (Oh that might have been me?) and just a lot of fun.

Dont go here unless you want to be abused by unhelpful and lazy staff.Forget customer service it hasn’t been invented here.. The post covid refurb has not disguised the absolute lack of respect for those who pay the wages, ie the punters. If you want to be ignored and forgotten, this is the place for you.Don’t bother trying to boost their custom, they don’t want it.

It's a terrible boozer. Meat from shoplifting addicts on sale . Drunks and dodgy geezers it's a rough house and avoid at all costs.

I got left at the bar for the useless barmaid to serve the regulars first, even though they came in after I did.The gent toilet is terrible, faulty light mean you were in the dark, plus no lock on the cubicleI left right after finishing my 1 drinkParking is also non existent, so if you're driving, again don't bother

Friendly place for a drink. Can get lively on a Friday and Saturday. Cant rate the food as never eaten here. Good place for darts and snooker.

Went in here before watching a matinee at the theatre next door.The menu in the window was offering toasties, which would have been fine. No, we're not serving food. On a Saturday lunchtime?Lots of kerfuffle about home fans in one bar and away fans in the other. Southend were playing Northampton. Really? Are the fans going to congregate in a pub 3 miles away from the ground, have a fight and then go to the match? maybe they would order taxis?'Away fans' escorted into the 'away bar'. Three men in their 50's and 60's who were going to watch the same show we were. Overkill.No wine glasses available when I ordered two glasses of wine. Possible because shorts and mixers were being served in wine glasses. I counted around half a dozen wine glasses being used. So, my wine served in plastic (yes plastic) half pint glasses.Only two people serving, one of whom was incredibly slow.The till broke down. One customer left standing at the bar waiting for his change while the till was being sorted. Should have asked him to return to his friends and brought the change over when till was sorted. The show in the theatre was about the Small Faces. Could have put a bit of a 'mod theme' on, served food and bought enough glasses. Could have done a deal with the theatre for some promotional t-shirts. Free parking for scooters.Any ideas would have been an improvement.Clientele were OK, prices were OK. Could do with a general clean up.Customer service - nil.If you are going to the theatre, stop somewhere else on the way and avoid this dismal pub.Maybe it's better in the evenings, I couldn't say.

This pub caters for most - bar hangers, Friday karaoke experts, pool and dart players, Saturday band fans, those who want food and those who don't, sport watchers, pre-show crowds and those who just want a quiet drink. A lot of money has been invested in this pub over the last 3 years and the improvement is noticeable - the menu especially has improved massively. Yes, the staff turnover is a big problem (always having to get to know new staff) and, yes, the last manager leaving has had an impact, but this is a good, friendly, pub with very good prices and a good atmosphere.

Good for a quick drink before heading out, reasonably priced drinks but would not eat hear, as have had bad experience in the past....

Desde mi última visita, este pub ha desaparecido completamente cuesta abajo. El servicio es lento, cerveza de mi marido había acabado, la comida es horrible y el ambiente no es estupendo.La razón por la cual el pub ha ido cuesta abajo, es debido a la pérdida de su director, Trixie Howe, que era la columna vertebral de este pub. El leaseholders son contables que tienen experiencia sobre cómo funciona un pub y, por lo tanto, contratar a un gerente, que fue muy buena. Por desgracia no son administradores de la leaseholders bien a su personal o bien con los clientes, de ahí el gerente de izquierda. Desde que el director de la izquierda, más personal, dejando a la izquierda el pub muy escaso, las existencias de cerveza dirigido bajo, y los clientes han disminuido.Este es un gran pub, con un montón de potencial en las manos adecuadas, por lo que vi y oí en esta visita, no está en las manos adecuadas y por lo tanto sufrimiento, no volvería mientras está bajo presente leaseholders.

Great place for a beer, and not silly prices. Nice selection of music and good atmosphere, 2 pool tables and darts on offer with big screen for football, sports etc. Really like this pub 👍

Staff is very polite and friendly, drinks are fine (you can have a bottle of wine for 12). One thing - place needs some deep cleaning ;)

Mi marido y yo hemos estado aquí un par de veces y me pareció un pub muy agradable. Es muy grande y tiene dos bares. El director es extremadamente agradable. Ella ofrece entretenimiento en vivo los fines de semana, que es muy bueno. Recomendaría a cualquiera que vaya allí.

The food is pretty good for a pub I must say and the staff are very friendly, they also have mutiple screens so you can watch pretty much any game at any time. Decent beer and value too. It's just the patrons that stop me going in there more often. You get the impression it's giro gets paid in and it's straight down The Plough! I've never had any trouble in there though to be fair.

A few days ago I have been in town to get my hair done and I have been to one of the hairdresser which is located right in the centre of the high street. I was expected to a full hospitality and great customer services. At the entrance I’ve chatted with one of the girls who were in the reception, seemed to be ok, she asked me to wait my turn, which of course I have waited about half an hour, but this was not a problem. In the meantime, I was looking around to see which one of them are professional in their job. The (female) shop owner was there, a lady who I don’t think she knows to smile, her face was down and the workers too, (I think this is happening only when she is there).The girls were tired, lacking manners, I have not seen one smiling, all serious and trying to show how fast they are. When my turn came, one of the girls took and tried to sit me down in one of the chairs who were full of hair, of course I refused, then she takes me to another clean one. She cut my hair without wetting my hair, without giving me a design, the male owner came and tried to calm me down, I really had a very bad experience going there. I do not recommend anyone to go there anymore.

This pub is a very lively place. We went there to get something to eat, but we got there too late. Instead of just saying no as their kitchen had closed, they allowed us to get food from somewhere nearby and eat it in the pub at their tables. Very friendly staff and always something going on.

The last time I visited this pub it was just plain awful. Although many locals seem to love it. It's not my cup of tea. It's a large pub standing in a parade along the main London Road which runs into Southend town. To be honest, it could do with a complete refurb in my opinion. It's the sort of pub you worry about sitting in and what you're sitting on! I find it quite rough, dirty, and very noisy on music/karaoke nights.

Basically a good old fashioned local pub. Quite a lot going on with regular live music and lots of sport on the many tvs. Only average range of beers but keenly priced. Staff friendly and enough of them that you get served quickly. Central so easy to pop in, have a drink or two, then move on.

One of maybe two larger pubs in the area along with the Trading Rooms. The area is very dense so the pub is popular. Staff are friendly and although not a regular visitor, there is always something happening, karaoke, quiz, live music or band comps. The pub consists of a large room where the events take place and the smaller snug which is more for faded out rockstars. They are known to open late which is always helpful. Good for an informal drink before the theatre and conveniently placed next to Kebab Express which becomes more or less routine after you leave the Plough.

Always got something on live bands pub quizs game show night daytime bingo all with cash prizes karaoke/ disco on Friday and Sunday im in there most days and night recommended for a good night out open late

A karoke evening with a d.j. couple & a free buffett later in the evening. A good atmosphere that night & midnight crowd was well informed leading up to new year 2015 by d.j. At midnight all t.vs switched over for Londons Big Bens chimes & the atmosphere was great every1 wishing each other happy new year 2015 even the fireworks display on tv was great viewing which added to great night.
