The Pityme Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Spent a couple of nights in two of the cosy well appointed rooms Excellent food/service/welcome. The log fire in the lounge is very cosy and inviting, especially as it snowed whilst we were there. Good selection of wines and beers. Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you.

This charming little place is a must-visit for lunch. We were so glad we decided to stop and investigate! They had a great selection of white wines, and the house white we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. For brunch, we had the huge bavette steak and the eggs, which were both wonderful and only £15. It was a great value for money, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Best fish and chips I have had for a long time! Batter was super crisp and the fish melted in my mouth. Peas were divine and the chips chunky and yum!

Good quality food and very popular with dog owners. Recommended. Watch out for real ales as not sure well looked after "new" barrel of Tribute served sour and cloudy.

We have just holidayed in Porthilly and visited the Pityme Inn on three occasions. It is dog friendly which is a must for us. We came for drinks twice and then came for a meal the third time. The pub is very nice with a fantastic beer garden. The food was delicious and we received friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

First time visiting and probably our last. Food was really nice and tasted good quality for the money but as everyone knows service makes up a lot of the experience. The girls serving were pleasant but I think I only saw them smile once. When asked if the WiFi was working the younger looking one with blonde hair shrugged and said I don’t know but you can use the rooms one which was just as bad. When asked for the bill we got a scowl like we had inconvenienced her. Upon checking the bill we were charged £5.00 for one round of crusty bread for our 3 year old child! Yes £5!!! Cauliflower starter could have been bigger but we found all the food tasty. Service was not personalised and they seemed very disinterested in their job like they didn’t want to be there. Shame because it looked really nice. Chefs. Thank you for the food!

Food was not as good as last year. Slightly disappointed.

We had a reservation for 8oclock upon arrival we were told there was a 1hr wait. This is shocking. We left.

Just popped in for a drink while on holiday. So lovely ended staying for food .Sat outside . So nìce. Had heaters at tables and an outdoor kitchen. So we stayed and had 2 lovely pizzas. Will go back next time we come back

A regular traveler and holidayer to the area from Bristol we always chose The Pityme for a meal and or a drink. Lovely food, great ambiance and the family always made welcome.

Stopped in for lunch when the car park in Rock was full. Good food and drinks and friendly staff. I particularly enjoyed the playlist at the time as it was heavily 90s influenced, but then I am a bit old. Good, comfortable beer garden. We will definitely stop off here again in future.

I honestly don't know why these guys have got some really poor reviews. We're staying at Trewiston farm just down the road and were struggling to find a decent but affordable pub to eat out for our holiday with our kids. We were nearly put off by the negative reviews but given there weren't many other options decided to take the risk. Well from the moment we arrived, they were all lovely. The waitress was lovely, dealt really well with all my nightmare food intolerances, chef even came out a couple of times to check, they swapped out food for me no fuss at all, and the actual food was lovely. They DO have a kids menu even though it's not online. Usual kids stuff, all of which the kids enjoyed. So we would happily recommend and will be back next year. Thank you Pityme inn for a lovely evening.

Very classy styled pub, not what we expected, but beautifully styled with outdoor seating areas.

Stayed over night as working in the area, room clean and tidy and pub very nice. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t taking walk ins when I went to eat in the evening, and breakfast isn’t served until 9am, so didn’t get to eat even though I tried twice…

Had a meal there while on holiday, the food was delicious and the waitress Maisie was lovely and very helpful, would definitely recomend a visit.

We passed this Inn on the way to Rock, we both commented on how nice it looked so called in on way back for a meal.....great decision! Food fab, friendly service & a lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly in the bar too so that was a bonus 🐾 💞

Saw it earlier in the day, came back later on because it announced itself as family friendly. It was busy, our fault we should of booked. I understand its hard work when it's heaving. After asking if it was possible we can eat in the bar area we were told we could, we'd just have to order at the main bar. Which was fine. Our kids, (10 & 4 year old), sat laughing and joking with each other were met with looks and comments. 10 year old dropped her drink, which we cleaned up ourselves, but resulted in comments being made loud enough our kids heard and meant we could no longer ignore. We apologised, despite not really impacting these particular patrons. But they continued to point out how we shouldn't be out with our kids (roughly 19:30) and people are "trying to enjoy themselves" This devolved into where we're from being brought into it as a pejorative. We left sharpish because it really didn't feel like families were in fact welcome. I feel its worth mentioning our children were not the only children in there. Can't say whether the food was any good in all honesty, as we didn't hang round to try it.

We came here for a Sunday roast whilst staying at St. Minver holiday park. All we can say is, WOW, they will not disappoint. We came in without a reservation, which was no problem, ordered 4 roasts plus a few side plates. The roast itself tasted fantastic. Good size portion of vegetables and 3 very generous slices of meat and the biggest Yorkshire pudding nestled on top. Absolutely perfect.

Absolutely amazing food, great service and a nice selection of beers

We had a Sunday lunch which was fine but not as good as it used to be: small portions (one average sized slice of meat in a £19 roast), poor quality (very fatty pork, very leathery beef) and not particularly flavoursome. Although the interior has received a makeover, it is a shame that the quality has dropped from a reasonably-priced gem to a very standard pub.

Always a warm welcoming atmosphere and a great range of beers. Excellent food too.

We checked out this place online as we were staying in Rock for a few nights. I eat anything and everything but the vegetarian options for my other half seemed very limited. However, according to the website, there was the option of pizzas so we booked a table. Having arrived promptly on a Friday evening, the first member of staff looked put out that we were there. There was no polite welcome or a friendly smile, only a "Name?". We thought she must have been new to the service industry so gave her the benefit of the doubt. We were shown to our seats and a second member of staff came after nearly 10 minutes and took our drink order of a bottle of wine. It was another 20 minutes before they came back to take our food order. No wine yet. When asked if we could get a vegetarian pizza we were told "That's only the outdoor menu and I'm not sure if we are still doing them after 7pm". But your online menu says you can get pizza inside. "Our online menu is wrong and hasn't been updated for a while". Ok, what's the 'Plant-based Burger' like? "I've no idea as I've never tried it". Hmm, we said we'd have to have a think. When the wine finally arrived after yet another 10 minutes, we said not to open it and that we felt there was too limited a choice so we would be leaving. The second member of staff said she understood completely and apologised. She is the reason for having any stars at all. I'm sure this is a nice pub, but they need to work on training the staff in customer service, allow the serving staff to taste the meals, have a couple of other vegetarian options, and ensure the website is up to date.

We had the most delicious fish and chips on a Monday evening in this friendly pub! Excellent staff, service with a smile, drinks arrived promptly, generous portions of very well-cooked tasty food. Reassuringly, the serving staff double checked a few minutes in that all was good - which it was! Really clean and smart restaurant, fantastic decorative style, soft lighting with candles, soothing laidback soundtrack. Looking forward to coming back again soon. Many thanks for a great evening.

Fantastic meal at The Pityme Inn while staying in Rock. To us our meal was even more enjoyable than the one we had had at The Mariners and that was very good! Staff were lovely and helpful. Landlord was lovely too.

This was our first visit. Definitely will be back. We ate from the small plate reasonably priced excellent quality.
