The Pittenweem Chocolate Company & Cocoa Tree Cafe in Fife

Needed a great drink after climbing the hill from the harbour area. Quite a choice of different drinks. But we plumped for basic medium hot chocolate. It was quite nice. Short but acceptable delay in preparation. But as I say delicious hot chocolate.

Unbelievably overpriced. £18 for a roll, a small slice of old cake and tea. I asked if I could get some salad on the side, but that would have to be an added £14. Absolutely ridiculous.

We were recommend this lovely establishment so we popped along and got our lovely table on a quiet Thursday morning. We ordered 3 hot chocolates and 3 scones. The drinks and food were delicious and for people moaning about the cost of items available all prices are clearly marked so if you're not happy please don't moan the products are first class.

We really love this cafe, food and drinks excellent (though a little overpriced) and staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely visit again when next in Pittenweem.

A gem . Stopped for a (take-out) coffee , as nearly closing time ,late Saturday afternoon. Lovely lady & gent ushered us in saying to please have a seat as they still had cleaning to do. Delicious cappuccinos and scones with honeyberry jam . Lovely staff and quirky interior ( loved the historic Chocolate advertising board pictures). Will definitely go back for lunch , menu looks delicious. Bought a few of their chocolates on the way out .... YUM ! Definitely recommend!

We ordered a salad and a focaccia costing just shy of £10 each. No side salad with the focaccia ‘roll’. I thought they’d brought a bacon bap by mistake. Neither were worth £10. We were left shocked actually. 2 large cappuccino’s were not large by usual standard either. We asked for water which was also not delivered. Disappointed. Would not return.

Over hyped and over priced. Feels like Cocoa Tree is living off an undeserved reputation. Chocolate cake was enjoyable and moist - but nothing special. Certainly not worth the nearly £ 6 charged!!! The Brownie was similarly small in size and over priced. Service lacklustre with no real engagement with customers eg water banged on table and waitress wandered off without a word. Nothing special and not worth a visit ...or your hard earned cash.

Popped in to get some chocolate to take back home. 2 small packs of small chocolates were nice enough, nothing exceptional, and crazy expensive £12 each.

Nice coffees together with delicious warm homemade cheese scone and the most amazing toasted fruit bread I’ve ever tasted Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere Cafe is dog friendly too

We stopped here whilst walking parts of the Fife coastal path. Friendly and welcoming staff. We each had one of their focaccia filled rolls which were very tasty and coffee. I imagine the courtyard is lovely to sit in in summer. There is also their chocolate shop with plenty to tempt chocolate eaters. We will return when back in the area.

Always a delightful experience service and quality of food excellent. Always recommend to peoplestaff are very welcoming and as it's dog friendly too it's perfect on a day out in pittenweem.

Sign on window says dogs welcome joke we noticed when we were seated chocolate crumbs on the floor all round our table as our small dog has a sensitive tummy and chocolate can be dangerous to dogs we popped him on the spare chair next to us we’d only placed our order when I presume the girl in charge swept past our table saying she didn’t mind dogs coming in but not on the chairs or near the table but did not give us time to tell her the floor needed swept which in hindsight she should have noticed herself if she was doing her job right. We’re not in the habit of letting our dog near tables and only had him on the chair to avoid licking the chocolate on the floor to make matters worse the table next to us were sniggering definitely will never give them our money again

Very friendly staff whom we dealt with to get the key for the nearby cave. We returned for lunch because we liked the welcome so much, and sat in the little courtyard. The hot chocolates were fantastic, very rich and just the right amount. The warm ginger cake was really good; nice spice and with a pot of cream. The bacon/black pudding bun was excellent, and really good value since it was so big that it rendered the eater unable to eat again for the rest of the day! We are just visiting the area, but will be calling in for breakfast on our way home.

Spent a week down on the fife coast and we found this wee gem the cocoa tree cafe in Pittenweem . Sophie and fiona and the rest off the staff were very attentive too all your needs and in a relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious and see you again soon

A cup of tea and a coffee (in paper cups) and two small scones to take away. Over £14 ! Outrageous. I will not be back.

Wow the Chai Tea and Chai Latte are excellent. Along with a little nibble of the wonderful chocolate made on the premises. We decided not to sit in as anxious to get on to the coastal path to walk, though would go back to eat as the food menu seemed good. We took our take away drinks and little chocolate rabbits to eat and drink en route to Anstruther. Absolutely lovely with the wonderful chocolate and the tastiest Chai drinks with all the spices coming through was decadent, along with the beautiful views along the Fife coast.

Lovely atmosphere and good service but very pricey - £9.90 for a single espresso and a small ginger beer! A pity it's so expensive as it stopped us from going back.

This is a delightful spot for lunch. I had an absolutely delicious focaccia filled with rocket, grilled goats cheese, local black pudding. This was followed by the most wonderful homemade carrot cake, all washed down with great coffee. A must-visit.

Incredibly unclear how many people allowed in shop and nothing on door to say the capacity. Women in shop very rude when I went in and told me to leave as there was too many people in the shop although there had been four people in previously two of whom had just left. With myself, there were only three people in the shop which suggests staff themselves unclear on capacity. Totally understand that corona makes everything more difficult but at the very least be polite to people that try and come in instead of telling them to leave. Walked out without buying anything.Would not recommend both because of poorly managed safety measures and rude staff.

Group of 6 of us went here for lunch. The wraps were really good. The chocolate fish, served with the teas and coffee were such a good quality we purchased some chocolate from their shop.

The Cocoa Tree Shop in Pittemweem, was the place from after small donation you can borrow a key to visit St. Fillin’s cave chapel. But it would be not right to miss it! Amazing range of chocolates, very tasty food and staff who made everything unique and special! Will definitely back here and spread the world!

We recently had a recent trip to the Cocoa Tree Cafe - but first off was a visit to St. Fillin's Cave Chapel, as the cafe holds the key. However afterwards, we then enjoyed lunch followed by hot chocolate. The menu was imaginative, with some delicious home made foods including hummus and tapenade. The hot chocolate was amazing! We were served by Stella, a truly lovely lady from South Africa, who made you feel very welcome. Stella also enjoyed telling us about all the beautiful chocolates that are handmade on the premises. We bought a bag of 'Christmas Orange Spice' hot chocolate to take home for Christmas - looking forward to it. This place is a real wee hidden gem!

The Cocoa Tree is a real meeting place for many Pittenweem locals. Serves hot soups, BLTs, wraps, and toasted sandwiches, and with a long (non-alcoholic) drinks menu. Their Chocolate Cake deserves an Oscar! Given that it is also a Chocolate shop you won't be surprised to hear that their range of Hot Chocolates is exceptional. Family, kids, dogs all welcome. A cozy fire in winter. Boxes of kids' books and toys, high-chairs etc. My grandchildren love coming here for lunch. On the other hand, a girl-friend and I meet there regularly for a catch-up and we always find a quiet corner. The service is excellent.Sophie, the owner, is a chocolatier by profession, and the front room of the place is all about high quality, handmade chocolate in every form imaginable. Exquisite chocolates to choose from to fill a box of your own choice; chocolate 'beans' for use in cooking, individual chocolate favours, or chocolate for making your own hot drinks. Also boxes of chocolates filled with malt whiskey that make wonderful gifts.

Sembra di essere in un film quando si entra: la signora che mi accoglie e gentilissima, subito rimango abbagliata dalle vetrinette che custodiscono questi gioiellini. My wife and I visited here two years ago whilst on a family holiday. It was the first place we stopped at when we came back to fife this year. Staff are really friendly, the coffee and hot chocolate are top notch, and the hand made chocolates are definitely not to be missed. We are travelling up to fife in May and it will be our first stop again ( can’t wait ).

We went for a cup of hot chocolate - I had dark chocolate with chilli and it was fantastic. I love hot chocolate but sometimes I feel a bit queasy after a cup but not this time! And it's dog friendly - what more could you ask for?!

My first day as wheat free and happened to be meeting a friend here for lunch. All sandwiches can be made with a gluten free crepe or wrap and mine was lovely.

I went for an afternoon snack with my friends while on a road trip. The aesthetic was very rustic which was very appealing. The service was lovely, the waitress was very friendly and welcoming. We all ordered hot chocolates and cake/brownie. My vegan hot chocolate would not be for everyone. I personally didn't like the taste of the pea milk used to make the hot chocolate, but I didn't have another choice as I am dairy-free. The cafe selection was very impressive and the lunch menu looked appetising. Nice place for a wee trip and a nice cosy cafe to shelter from the cold in.

Lovely little cafe nestled near harbour in Pittenweem. Very friendly staff. Eclectic surroundings. The coffee was heavenly. Unfortunately for me, the chocolate cake was awful. It may have been vegan, although the menu did not state this, there was a newspaper type advert on the wall, which I only noticed after it was served. The cake looked like torte, having the cakes on display would help. I had hoped for a gooey, chocolate sponge. What I had was wet, pretty tasteless and firm texture. My fault I guess, one should be clear what one is ordering. Other offerings from the kitchen looked delicious. I will most certainly have to visit again. Oh by the way, £8.00 for one coffee and one cake is a little pricey.

The food was amazing. I chose to get a waffle and it was fresh and super tasty. The drinks were also very nice. They have so many to choose from including 7 different flavours of hot chocolate available in milk, dark and white. The staff were sociable and friendly and are more than happy to have dogs inside as well as in the courtyard. Overall very good experience

We just popped in to the shop to get 'the key' but could not resist! Some things quite pricey but also some nice wee things for those on a budget. We bought the christmas hot choc, cannot wait to try! Cafe looked and smelled fab too, will try next time!

My wife and I visited here two years ago on holiday and felt it was a MUST go back too place. We found a very warm welcome from Fiona and the rest of the staff. The food is freshly prepared and the service is very good. The chocolates are made in house and I would recommend them to all chocolate lovers. Can’t wait to go back next time we are in Fife ( two years time ).

So we went to this place as we noticed that it seemed to be quite a quaint place. However, little did we know that we had stepped into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. We decided to order some drinks and desserts and its one of the best decisions we've ever made. Banana Milkshakes were gorgeous and the waffles were amazing.
