Cozy little place to take a break. Good coffee, good cakes. Nice staff

Stumbled upon this beautiful place by chance, already looking forward to another visit. Was exactly what I needed, calm and relaxed atmosphere with lovely coffee and by far the best lunch I've had in a long time. Absolutely perfect, thank you.

Can be loud (there's a piano right there in a small room), it can be busy, but it's my favourite little place and best coffee I've had in Saffron Walden

Keri and her team are warm and welcoming, the food is delicious and the piano adds another level to the ambience.

Under new management. Have visited several times and happy to continue, even for just an espresso and a slice of cake. Even had live music (a young lady playing the piano) on one occasion.

Excellent café with beautiful classical music! The cakes are to die for! The staff are so lovely, kind and very hospitable. One of the best coffee shops I've been to. Shen you visit Saffron Walden, you must come here! 😀 Thank you very much!

Amazing coffee and amazing service!

Great food and piano accompaniment!

My family visited for a coffee on Saturday afternoon. I have two children under the age of four and requested one hot chocolate split into two smaller cups as well as two coffees. The waitress said this was fine but two large hot chocolates arrived which we thought was odd. The hot chocolates were piping hot, so we requested some additional milk to cool them down to a temperature suitable for children. My 18-month-old son was being a little loud but nothing too untoward and the manager popped her head up the stairs and asked us to keep the noise down. We were clearly not welcome, so I requested the bill as I wanted to make a swift exit as I have never felt so unwelcome. The bill arrived and to my surprise they had charged us for two adult hot chocolates and the additional milk which I questioned and refused to alter. I have visited many of the other coffee shops in Saffron Walden and can honestly say they bend over backwards to ensure the children are happy and would never question a toddler being noisy.

Sadly not nice coffee, but I can normally enjoy an atmosphere. Only one member of staff was friendly, two others rude, and we were charged for a drink we didn’t have even when questioned. Thank goodness for the goat, cou cou, bicicletta and gluttons!

Went there for the first time today . Ploughman’s was amazing , different to a standard ploughman’s in that I received several different types of cheese , really enjoyed the enhanced ploughman’s ! Great service and really nice to sit their whilst listening to the piano being played by an exceptional Player . Had a lovely hour here .

Lovely spot for tea/coffee and some amazing cakes. Wish this little gem was close to where we live.

Piano serves the best coffee in town and the food is amazing. The cheese board is a treat, cakes delicious and the service is second to none. You always get a friendly welcome from Adile!

We booked a table for two on Tuesday to celebrate our anniversary. We had the whole place to ourselves and enjoyed a good bottle of red wine, a cheese and meat platter and a baked Camembert followed by a slice of red velvet cake to share. Adile made us feel so welcome and wanted to make it special for us…let’s just say it will be an anniversary we will not forget as it was such a lovely experience from beginning to end. The ambience was even more special in the evening with the fairy lights and wonderful music. Thank you for making our celebrations unique!

Lovely staff and environment the food is amazing!!

Looked forward to going for lunch on Friday with my daughter, her partner and baby but were stopped at the door by a very rude lady saying we couldn’t bring the pushchair in. I could understand if the cafe was full but there were no other customers downstairs and it was after the peak lunch period. There is nowhere to leave the buggy outside so had a lovely lunch at Cou Cou instead.

Disappointed in the pot if tea, despite asking for it to be strong it was weak and tasteless. Real tea drinkers like it strong and flavoursome.

Very welcoming, great food a lovely addition to the town. You must try the Baklava... it’s the best in town. Amazing wine and delicious cheeseboards Thursday to Saturday evenings.

We had a lovely lunch here and were looked after by very friendly staff. We are looking forward to going back and hopefully hearing some live music!

This is a lovely cafe: great food, friendly service, and you can play the piano if you wish.

Lovely food and the Lady running the cafe was very nice. We enjoyed our visit. The downstairs seating area is quite small, with restricted space between the tables, I would call ahead if needing access for a wheelchair or pushchair.

An excellent coffee shop with an excellent selection of cakes and drinks, worth returning! It now seems like a long time ago but we only visited in March...

Ok firstly the positives that saved it from 1 star. Service was exceptional, friendly, and caring. Atmosphere was good. The cake was amazing and the main reason we enjoyed our time here. The bad, service whilst friendly was slightly slower then I would expect given that it did not appear that busy. Ordered a hot chocolate but was lukewarm put a sugar cube in it and didn’t dissolve because it was that cold, also clumps of chocolate at the bottom. Coffee however was ok. Drunk it as was thirsty, we ordered food which was cold all jackets were hard and served just warm. I don’t think I would go back as the others did not enjoy their time there, and even if I did it would be for coffee and cake only. There are far better places to eat. The cooked and prepared food is disappointing and doesn’t match the service or excellent cake!

Quiet place with the piano music playing all along. Tea and drinks are good quality, shame the dishes could be more generous less average and please serve real butter.

I always loved the look of this coffee shop and wanted to try it with my friend and her baby. The food was nice, good coffee and cakes but the service took away from all this. The person running the place was not friendly and we felt like we were being an inconvenience the whole few hours we were there. At some point we even a sigh or two. I live here in this town but I don’t think I’ll come back.

Not child friendly. The owner hates kids and told my daughter off for swivining on a swivel chair the moment they got in and not to mention the long black hair in the eggs the week before. All about supporting local businesses but this woman is not local and dont care about the community

This is the best Cafe in Saffron Walden, it has a warm welcome along with really good food. Always clean and well looked after with willing staff and a very thoughtful owner. It has soft piano music in the background, you can quietly chat with your friends without having to shout. I have been there previously for a coffee and cake and also for breakfast and have not been disappointed. So do not go past the door without looking in if only for at least coffee (and cake) Looking forward to my next visit.

Third visit here, always very welcoming! Those amazing cakes in the window are every bit as gorgeous tasting as they look. Coffee is fabulous, not true of all the cafe's in Saffron Walden. If I could give more stars I would!

Warm and welcoming, our go to cafe whenever we visit Walden. The meals are lovely and the cakes..... the cakes are gorgeous. If you haven't visited and you enjoy good coffee,good cake, good service then you've missed a treat.
