Birchanger Sports & Social Club in Uttlesford

Only been there once to a wake Which is always an artificial atmosphere but it seemed a very well run place. It’s far from new but we’ll appoint and tidy! The bar was well stocked and wide selection of beers, spirits and wine! The food was enough for a small army and the special plate was only enough for a betallion. Very tasty and what was supposed to be hot was very hot ! Parking and entry for disabled is fine! All together a very adequate venue for I would guess 70 to 80 guests.

I go here with friends often, staff are very welcoming and also helpful, my friends have meals here often and the food looks beautifu,l well prepared and appetising with a comprehensive menu, the decor is comfortable and modern, its a lovely venue to go for a Sunday roast too, overall well worth a visit and a meal, they have regular entertainment too.

Following a meal I played petanque with the local club who welcome new members. The food was very good value for money, I had a set meal of sausage eggs and chips followed by chocolat fudge cake, ice cream and coffee. A great way to spend a pleasant summer evening enjoying the sunshine in the beer garden. Highly recommended.

Visited this place a couple of times now with the family. Called in today on route back to Leeds from Kent. Beats any motorway services. Better food and better prices. Great service too. Lovely staff. 5* from us.

Not great if you have allergies, there was only one dish I could eat and that was a plant burger. I'm not a fan of burgers. They used to do a nice curry and various fish dishes. Not my first choice. They used to be so good, it's a shame.

Just a fantastic place food brill, chef needs a Michelin star, drink cheap and a friendly atmosphere 😋 x

Had a lovely early Christmas meal with my partners quiz friends. I went for the salmon. Very nice. Highly reccomend.

Lovely place to come to on Thursday evening for bingo. Terry the manager has made myself and my sister feel welcome. The food is great and the drinks are reasonably priced. We have also made some new friends along the way. Many thanks.

This is a great social club to visit and has a lovely bar/seating areas inside and outside.

Caters to 99% of people's needs just ask and if the chef isn't to busy I'm sure he can do something else for you. Fantastic food and great guest ales

We can’t thank Birchanger social club enough, we was let down massively by a venue last minute (the week before) for our children’s Christening reception. We didn’t know who to turn to and who would accommodate 85 guests at such late notice. when my wife suggested the social club as we was only members a few years ago until we moved to Dunmow, we will definitely be rejoining. I called the the social club, and Terry called me back within 10 minutes, I told him our situation and he was very understanding and suggested we popped down straight away to talk to head chef Rob. Firstly, Terry put us at ease and said they could host us and told us how it would work. We then spoke to Rob about the buffet, giving us endless options and was happy to cater for all our guests and needs. We left feeling very relieved and in safe hands with Terry and Rob. On the day it couldn’t have gone better, what Rob done for the Buffett was fantastic and their was plenty for all and everyone said how good it was. He even sorted me out with a few wings on the side. All the kids were able to run around while the adults enjoyed the wide selection of drinks from the bar. If you’re needing a venue for any type of function I can’t recommend Birchanger social club enough. Thanks again.

The singers at the Beer Festival were entertaining and a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Hard to rate due to the covid restrictions

Absolutely disgusting. Was served 3 pints all of the glasses were dirty. on my 2nd complaint it took more than 20 mins for someone to rectify the issue. Then I was assured the glasses were cleaned personally by Charlie . Low and behold the glass was dirty again. So went to complain. I was told because I have complained that the glasses were dirty. I was no longer welcome. I've never experienced any thing like that before. Charlie was so patronising and un welcoming. never again will I spend my hard earned money in there

This Club was recently refurbished and has a new Steward who produces excellent food at a very reasonable price and with Sunday lunch at less than £10 (which is cheaper than every local hostelry) this is an ideal place to bring the family - there is a children's play area too. CAMRA have awarded them Club of the year for the east of England for the last 2 years so it was no surprise to find 3 real ales kept to perfection. Thoroughly recommended !
