We came to try the Persian out as the reviews were good and it did not disappoint! We got the luxury selection for 2 which cost £42. This included 3x Meze starters, 2 Skewers of lamb and 1 of chicken, with a side portion of rice and yogurt dips for the main, then to top it off Persian tea and a slice of pistachio baklava for dessert. This was definitely worth every penny! It’s full of flavour and worth a visit. It’s a cosy environment and the staff was attentive without being intrusive. The chef even came out to say hello! Although it’s small it’s mighty!

Definitely recommend a visit to this hidden gem! Lovely food and really friendly staff, will be returning for sure! For dessert the baklava and the ice cream are both lovely!

Absolutely fantastic, authentic food. Four of us shared the Deluxe selection with enough Koobideh, Joojeh, Barg and Changeh to keep us all happy and well fed. Bonus was the flat bread under the kebabs that soaked up all the juices. Starters were, again, execllent, some of the best felafels I have had and the hummus and Salad-e Olivieh were excellent. Star of the show was without a doubt the Fesenjan. Miss it at your peril. Very friendly and attentive waitress and it was lovely that the chef came out and had a chat with everyone, they obviously take great pride in their food.

Decided to try here again after hearing that it was under new management and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the Koobideh & Joojeh kebab and my husband had the fesenjan stew. Both dishes had lovely flavours & were freshly prepared. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes.

The aubergine and garlic starter was good. Great hummus. The lamb with fenugreek was bursting with flavour. 7 of us ate. The food was good. Everyone cleared their plates. I’d booked the table way back in October. Reconfirmed in early March. The claimed to have no knowledge of my booking

We have been coming to The Persian for many years and recently, we were sad to hear of the sad passing of the owner. The restaurant has new management so we thought we would try it for a quick tea after work . It was absolutely lovely. The new management have done a wonderful job with menu, food and atmosphere to keep it The Persian we know and love. The food is excellent, very well priced and amazing. We are vegetarian and we still think the veggie food is some of the best in Hull. The Persian Ice Cream is delicious. Thank you so much for a lovely meal.

Tasty food. Wonderful waitress. Friendly chef. Wish I'd remembered about taking own alcohol. Section of puddings is minimal but what we had was delicious.

I was invited by a special close friend for a meal as it had been my birthday whilst she was on holiday. Felt welcomed throughout the experience. Had Happy Birthday sung to me by the staff too. Again, excellent experience, and a great selection of meats.

Brilliant food. First time trying Persian food and the meat was spot on. Friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Very grateful to have experienced.

First visit today, what can I say? The owner was so attentive and spent the time to explain the menu and even offered a taster of one of the meze dishes. the food - wow such flavour profiles and fanatic they offer a BYOB service. I was able to pair a fantastic Lebanese red with our meal (from Aldi if anyone's interested). will be back!

Turned up late and hungry after a long hospital visit, and Ali and his staff couldn't have been more accommodating! We were served fabulous dishes of Gaymeh (lamb stew) and and Ghormeh Sabzi (national dish of Persia), both of which were hugely enjoyable. Highly recommended, and we will be back!

The Persian has a cosy feel and staff are very friendly and attentive. Everything we had was lovely, especially my lamb stew which was so flavourful. I'm not normally a dessert person but shared baklava and ice cream and both were delicious. You can tell everything is cooked with love which made eating here even more enjoyable.

We visited The Persian on 27 April 2022 with our friend. The food was stunning, flavours just perfect and outstanding service. The owner who served us was from the Persian area and knew the dishes inside out - able to explain how they are cooked in depth. It was the best meal of the year and will visit again.

Beautiful food on our way to the ferryport. We particularly enjoyed the homemade vanilla, saffron and rosewater ice cream! Kids loved their huge portions of chicken kebab with rice or chips and my seabass was fantastic. Big shout out to the friendly and kindly owner

Friendly staff, gorgeous freshly cooked food and generous portion sizes, plus all dishes are gluten free, with fried potatoes available instead of flat bread.

What a fantastic meal and unbelievable guest experience. You are welcomed the first minute you walk in to the second you leave. You have to give it a go, bring your own alcohol 🍸 but you WILL have a great evening.

Having come from London I'm a food snob, there's very little in Hull to be excited about when it comes to food (FACT). Here however, there's a real diamond in the rough amongst all the dodgy tapas restaurants and other restaurants masquerading as something they clearly are not. The quality, cooking, and seasoning of the food here is excellent and wouldn't be at all out of place in amongst the excellent Middle East restaurants that congest the busy Edgware Road in central London.The service is very friendly and the surroundings are very relaxed, I couldn't recommend it enough.

We visited during the Eat Out To Help out scheme, as we wanted to try somewhere new whilst places were generally half price.We had read online that the restaurant doesn't use flour, other than for things like the bread and some desserts, and so this was a good sign for Rosie, as a Coeliac.We ordered a meze platter each as they came with rice, salad, and bread/potatoes; one lamb & chicken kebab with 2 sides, and one veggie with 3 sides (see photo). Even at full price, these dishes are large and only came to £14.95, so to say we got them for half that was amazing!The restaurant doesn't offer alcoholic drinks, but offers a corkage service at a fee. We only had Coca Cola, so can't comment on this.A small restaurant, which can only seat around 24 covers at once, but fantastic food and a cosy atmosphere. Definitely going back!

tonight we ate here as a group of 6. I’m not usually one to write reviews, but I left here absolutely disgusted with the service we received. It was a shame as the food was lovely, but the owner was that rude we paid and left a soon as we could. Between 6 of us we ordered 3 platters, which were more than enough to feed one between 2. As they were advertised as sharing size, we ordered them. Once we had eaten and during our meal the owner kept commenting that these were not meant for two people, and that we should have ordered one each. He then proceeded to ‘have a go at us’ for ordering one between 2, as this is bad for his custom (baring in mind we were the only ones there, not like he had other people waiting). He told us we should have offered to pay more if we were sharing?! Regardless, If I go to eat at a restaurant I should be entitled to order what I want, despite the size. Following him confronting us, we paid and left, no tips. This was a meal to catch up with friends, and it was ruined by the owner who was rude. He also kept listening over our shoulders and then asking us questions on the conversations we were having. We will not be returning based on his rudeness, despite the fact the food was nice. It ruined our evening.. we could have gone somewhere else and not to be made to feel bad about the amount/type of food we ordered!!

1st time for us at this friendly little restaurant, won't be the last! Really tasty Persian cuisine. Great choice on the menu and good offers too. We both had three kebabs (chicken, lamb and shish) and two mezes of our choice for only £14.95 each which is great value. Service was really good too.

After reading reviews, we decided to come here while visiting Hull for a weekend. We were so glad we did, delicious food and lovely hosts. We really enjoyed our evening and only wish we lived closer, so we could sample more on the menu.

A last minute decision led us here but wow!!! Absolutely gorgeous food, brilliant little place and great hosts too!! The spicy prawns were awesome!!

Only one other table of diners on the Sunday early evening that we were there, a group of 8 Iranians I think, and the chatter and background music added to the authenticity and great ambience. What a treat. During a visit from the States I went for dinner at the Persian with my husband and friends. We couldn’t get enough of the Fesenjun and the kebab. Everything was full of flavor and generous portions, and great value for the price. Add to that the warm and relaxed atmosphere and welcoming host of the restaurant and I’ll surely be telling friends to go here. Next time I visit I’ll be there!

A lovely little restaurant well worth a visit. Absolutely delicious food-we had some dips which came with flatbread which were super tasty and then we got the lamb fillet kebab and a chicken kebab and shared them between us. They came on finely sliced onion and with roasted tomatoes and a generous plate each of rice. The meat was beautiful and tender and really tasty. You can bring your own alcohol as well for just a small corkage fee.

Totally authentic. Love an independent restaurant! Mum, Dad & youngest son aged 12 - we all said it was outstanding. We had 6 meze, 2 kebabs & a stew - every dish perfectly spiced and cooked. We like to eat our evening meal early & dropped in around 3pm. We'd certainly go back. Cosy restaurant on a freezing day, friendly service, spotless. Three fantastic meals finished with three fantastic coffees! Our son had a little sugar in his - but preferred mine. Such a floral aromatic blend. Amazing place.
