Delighted to return, having been around two and a bit years ago. On that occasion I narrowly missed out on roast beef, the last one going to the people next door, but this time we got there early with a table at 12.15 on a rainy Sunday. We were given a friendly welcome as soon as we stepped in from the rain and shown to our table. The atmosphere was just right - lively but not OTT. Our waitress was fantastic, going through the options and making sure we had everything (throughout, not just at the start). Much better and friendlier service than you'd typically get in London! The roast did not disappoint and I would definitely recommend it: generous amount of roast beef, tasty veg and a fine Yorkshire pudding. Dessert was plum sorbet grown in their own gardens. I wholeheartedly recommend a trip here, make a booking and if the weather permits go for a bracing walk before to build a hunger (or after to make amends for having too much!)

Atmosphere has changed a lot, it's pretty stuffy, overpriced food which is pretty poorly cooked, we all agreed the "triple cooked" chips tasted like crappy oven chips. The place itself is lovely has a nice fireplace and a nice garden, lots.of outdoor seating but little indoor seating unless youve booked it for food... Honestly i wouldnt bother going for anything other than a pint, for food, walk up the river a bit further theres a much better place!

The burger (a pretty standard dish) was dry, dry, dry. I was promptly (too promptly) brought another burger which was equally as bad. At this point (very hungry) I would have been happy with a fast food burger (this, although not a fan, I would have eaten), however the very expensive Perch burger was the worst I have ever had. I explained that I would eat my chips but not the burger and so I would not be paying; this was honoured. However, I did not appreciate being told that the beef meet is much better in the summer….really!? If that’s the case, take beef off the menu from the end of August or don’t charge £18 for a burger.

The Perch is an absolute gem which is located in the middle of the Oxford countryside. As soon as you enter this historic pub you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly combines traditional charm with modern comfort. The surroundings are simply breathtaking with the river view and the garden which is an ideal spot for a lazy afternoon. The food is excellent, each meal is so skilfully made with fresh, local produce. Whether you are having a classic Sunday roast or one of their seasonal specials, each bite is a treat. The drink list is equally vibrant, featuring not only a variety of ales, wines, but also expertly prepared cocktails. However, the most outstanding quality of The Perch is the way they treat their customers. The staff are extraordinarily kind and attentive, making sure each guest feels at home and well looked after. They are way over the top and make the stay remarkable. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty dinner by the fireplace, a sunny day in the garden, or just a place to hang out with friends, The Perch has it all. I can't recommend it highly enough; it is a must-visit place in Oxford. I'm definitely going back!

Stopped for lunch on a Sunday afteenoon when out for a walk along the river. My friend has ordered their lamb roast and I, nut roast. We had ordered cauliflower cheese for sides. We both thought the Mains was ok. Nothing special. The cauliflower cheese was barely cooked,, lacked flavour of cheese and hardly any sauce- in fact we asked if we could have some more sauce but were duly informed it was not possible. The dessert took almost 45 minutes to arrive. At one point, we even let the waiteress know that we didn't want it as we had to go but she said it wouldn't be much longer. The outside area is large and was very busy, where they serve burgers. The staff was fairly pleasant.

Wonderful pub a short and scenic half hour walk from the centre of Oxford. Stroll along the river and down the wooded path to get to a gorgeous historic site. There are options for either a full gastropub menu inside, or, in the summer, more humble burgers from the outdoor grill. Plenty of options for ales, wines and soft drinks. Equally enjoyable keeping cosy inside during the winter, or out in the gardens in the sun or shade of the willow trees.

Where to start... Lets start with OUCH! A sign telling you to mind your head would be useful. It would have saved me from smacking my head into a low wooden beam upon entry. Greeting staff were nice enough about it and pointed us in the direction of the rest of our party. My sisters and I were taking Dad out for an early Father's Day treat. It's dog friendly, great, we had two dogs who sat quietly with us. Ordering drinks was a breeze, Dad Liked the beer, so thumbs up so far. We decided to have a selection of starters that we ordered at the same time as our main course. They arrived promptly and we enjoyed sharing them. The pork belly bites were a hit. This is where things start to go down hill. It must have been 40 mins between the starters and the main courses and when they arrived things were not good. The burger, as per other reviews, was utter trash. Dry, over-cooked and more akin to a hockey puck than anything resembling a burger. The cheese was a congealed mess and the bacon inedible...the slice of tomato came with added root...bonus. Seriously, the golden arches would have been ashamed of it. That wasn't the worst of it. Dad & Sister ordered fish & chips. Both arrived with cold chips. We asked the waiting staff if we could have fresh chips to replace them.... Enter Matalan Andrew Tate. This member of staff arrived and questioned the validity of our request for fresh chips, claiming our chips had come out of the fryer mere moments before. Dad asked if he'd like to try one to confirm they were cold, he declined. He then delivered the pitiful excuse that they were trying to serve 6-7 tables at once....Yes, mate, its in the nature of a restaurant to serve multiple tables at the same time. Huzzah, fresh, hot chips were delivered. Sister & Dad were happy again. Uh-oh, here comes Matalan Tate, who'd been hovering for a few moments, seething that the fresh chips had been untouched for less than a minute. He delivered a passive aggressive "Have you tried the chips yet"?. No mate, they're a bit hot. This place probably has something going for it. It's just not the food or the occasional matrix-breaking staff member.

Great riverside pub, with excellent food and great service! The Perch is wheelchair accessible and the staff are very welcoming, friendly and supportive of wheelchair users. The car park is quite small for such a popular pub, but the gravel surface is OK. Wheelchair access via the front door has a level threshold, but will take careful manoeuvring if you have a larger powered wheelchair. Access to the beautiful riverside garden requires a temporary ramp, which the staff are only to happy to put in place. Arrived without table booking, was advised that could sit in the bar area, by the open fire , that was in full roar even on the hottest day of the year so far (23° 2nd June) Manager told us that they had been instructed by the owner, that the fire should always be on unless the outside temp is 26°+. It was also suggested that we could use the outdoor area that was also serving food. This was acceptable, food from thenoutsoor area was good, garden area was busy, but not overcrowded. It was nice to see that from the garden area we could also access a walk along the bank of the river Thames too. The place itself is lovely, but sadly, I won't be returning. The meat in the burger was dry, like eating cardboard and it's served with no vegetables at all, and at £18 or thereabouts, it's expensive but what really hacks me off is the added service charge on the bill, which I may add came to over 10%. Let me decide, not the establishment. I know I could have probably deducted it, but it's the fact that they have the front to expect it in the first place. I won't be returning, which is a shame because its setting is lovely.

No Parking! There is very little parking here and the tiny road leading to it is lined with cars making access to it tricky. We had driven for an hour and a half to meet friends here. The place was very busy but our waiter was friendly and attentive at first. We said it was a birthday celebration and he said they could do something special but this was forgotton and we were then served by several different people. I wouldn't have said the service was slow until we ordered dessert and were then told we had to vacate the table in 20 minutes so needed to order one now, each table has a two hour turn around. Our Sunday carvery could have arrived sooner if this was the case, we weren't aware of this. The fasted thing to arrive was the card machine for payment, we hadn't even discussed how we were going to split the bill or what tip we felt happy with, certainly not the 12% that was automatically added and we had removed. Too much of a conveyer belt of diners and not relaxing at all. We won't be returning.

Very popular. Opens at 12 noon. Better be standing in the line well before 11 AM.

A cosy warm spot that serves delightful tapas and offers good drink selection. This was a place where spending money felt right. The food brings lightness and happiness. Flavours were clean and celebrates the ingredients’ integrity. Beautiful. I felt right where I needed to be. Beetroot borani, feta, walnuts: This was beautiful. Light, refreshing and crunchy. Topped with yellow beetroot that provides an extremely subtle sweetness with a good crunch. Pieces of walnut to elevate nuttiness and texture. The feta gives a gentle saltiness to contrast the sweetness of the beetroots. The beetroot borani is light and creamy. Beautiful dish to start. Sobrassada, thyme & honey tostada: This was exciting! There was spiciness, sweetness and herby tones to this piece. The tostada has a nice crunch to it. A bite brings you through a journey of melted honey with tones of spices that coats your tongue, then the flavourful spiciness from the sobrassada comes through. All that with the fragrant thyme accompanying your bite. By the end, the honey married with the oil from the sobrassada, and it is quite lovely to just clean the plate off with what’s left. What a fun dish to bring the meal together. Finished my meal with a glass of Pedro Ximenez. Let’s just say the rich sweetness of the sherry settles gradually with the after notes of the sobrassada that was left on my tongue. After note: My experience with the service was very lovely. It was both personal and warm. Much gratitude to Monica, Abel, Josh, and Hugo… Also the host, whose name I did not catch… A very cohesive, warm, and international team here. They work well and closely with one another, was enjoyable to watch. P.s. Glad this was the place I chose to have my last dinner in Oxford. The restrooms are maintained well and hygiene was in check.

Good Shisha, comfortable seating. Music isn’t too loud. Everyone there came to chill and have a smoke.
