Have had takeaways from here over the years, not for a while, so thought I would drop after work tonight. 2 sweet and sour chicken, with fried rice. Chicken balls rock hard - could hardly get a knife through them - overcooked and chicken tasteless. Rice stodgy. Expected better. Wondered if it had been reheated from the night before ? Really disappointed and definitely won't be back.

I got a chicken chow mien, it was absolutely inedible. The chicken smelled really bad and it made me feel sick. The noodles underneath the chicken also didn’t taste good. Avoid this dish.

Delivery is terrible. Its a Tuesday and yet the delivery time is 1 hour. The last time was a computer issue?? This time who knows. It's really poor. And you have lost a customer.

One of the Worst Chinese in Cumbernauld has no flavour or taste in there food shocking staff don't care no waw factor to offentic

A warm welcome and good choice. The service was fast and the food arrived quickly. The food tasted lovely and came as a generous portion.

Tried this for first time tonight as usual place was closed, after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes the meal was appalling. Chicken curry was the strangest colour ever, asked for mushrooms to be added and none present even though you pay for them and can’t be sure the chicken was actually chicken. Food was in the foil containers which is poor portion size. And no free prawn crackers which I have never experienced before, when you spend £26 that’s poor. Also spring rolls that were shape of samosas, which the last time I looked aren’t even Chinese and no filling within them. Please stay clear of this place

Absolutely terrible. Ribs were awful meat was tough not at all tender. Chow mein - chicken was poor and the whole Dish was swimming with oil. Kung po was equally disappointing A wishy washy sauce and cheap chicken. So disappointing. £31 down the tube.

Ordered this before nightshift as they said max delivery waiting time is one hour it was much later. Then this is the only Chinese not to offer a bag of prawn crackers when you spend a certain amount of money. And the food was mediocre

Absolute rubbish spring rolls from Iceland main courses horrible banna fritters hard and tasteless. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere

I have just ordered a sweet& sour chicken from this restaurant. It was absolutely perfectly cooked. The delivery was quick and efficient. I highly recommend you try there food

Ordered chow mein, worst I've ever had, tasteless, greasy and far too much salt. The food was awful. Girl taking orders was very helpful and nice shame about the food. Would not recommend.

Not happy with my order received food cold. When I phoned to complain was told that food was just made and that it could not possibly be cold. To then be told that manager is doing nothing about it and that they do not give refunds as a customer who will no longer use them who used them all the time I will never order from here again terrible management style going against consumer rights not offering refund on poor quality food to be told he's to busy

I'm not even sure how it's possible to take two very simple sides - plain noodles and salt & chilli chips - and get them to the point that are inedible. Noodles were just... Off. Chips were as if you had put your takeaway in the microwave, forgotten about it for three days and reheated it fourteen times for good measure.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. 2 hour wait for delivery. Lied to by staff that the driver had already left when I called at 1 hour 30.

Driver arrived no mask no gloves ..poor start. Ribs burnt beyond recognition.Main courses were edible ..just. All in all I will not be ordering again .

Ordered several items from the menu for 4 people as we were attempting to have some sort of birthday celebration during Lockdown. Ordered on a Saturday around 7pm, staff have always been friendly and professional and clearly extremely busy. Food was delivered about 30minutes later and I was advised of around 45min wait for delivery. Food was fresh, hot and really lovely. I've lived in Craigmarloch for 18yrs never once had an issue with the pearl.

Ordered a selection of food for a family meal as my son leaving home to go work on a cruise. Ordered small BBQ ribs,mini spring rolls, chicken satay in sauce,sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong,lemon chicken, chicken black bean a bit spicy with 2 Fried rice and boiled rice and chips. Was reasonable price £39 got free prawn crackers. Food was hot however tasted horrible. Mini spring rolls were nice but ribs were disgusting. The satay did not even taste like satay. Satay is peanut flavour but got no idea what it was. The lemon chicken and pineapple was pure dried out and sauce seperate too. The rest was very funny sauces and tasted not nice. Worst Chinese we have had and definitely a disappointment. Won't be back and don't recommend at all!

Chicken curry was very poor tasting and the chow me in was very salty with no other taste, extremely poor quality and would not go back

Been using the Pearl for years now and never had a bad mealAdvise to phone in advance as it’s always pretty busyI love the fact the doors are open and you can see into the kitchen it’s reassuring to see how clean it is and see your food being prepared I love the King Prawn Curry and orange chicken Would definitely recommend

We regularly get takeaway meals from here & have done for years. It never lets us down. The food is always amazing & plentiful. Quick, efficient service.

Chicken fried rice loaded with horrible gravy. No mention of this in the menu and we weren't asked if we wanted gravy by the person behind the counter.

I went here for a takeaway to try somewhere different for the family. The food was terrible, I ordered 3 meals and 2 sides and 1 out of the 3 meals was ok and the sides were stinking chips were not even cooked properly. Will not use this place again.

The Pearl isn’t my go to Chinese in cumbernauld. Convenient location though when at Tesco etc. The portion sizes are always about 1/3 smaller than other Chineses too. It was an order for 1 though so portion size is fine. I asked for Salt and pepper chicken extra spicy, and salt and pepper chips. Both were immersed in salt and the ‘extra spicy’ was just a ton of chilli flakes, which I love but this was awful. I couldn’t eat it and my friends couldn’t too (who wisely ordered elsewhere so I had to scrounge their dinners).

I’ve been coming to the pearl for years and have yet to be disappointed. Great food, friendly staff, clean place. The negative reviews on here are grossly unfair as I’ve never had a bad meal or bad service from here. Please do not be put off by the negative reviews, this place is great!

Just had a takeaway from the Pearl. This was my first one for some time and how far downhill this takeaway has gone. Chicken curry with more onions than chicken, chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce both cold, and soggy cold chips Never again!!

Tried this as my usual takeaway hadn't been quite as nice. Really wish that I had stuck to it! Still suffering from Saturday when the kung-po chicken looked anemic but thought it would surely be safe to eat. Both my husband and I have been ill ever since and the reason I'm up at 5 am is my stomach is still sore and gurgling. The only thing that I'm thankful for is that my kids had the curry, which although not up to scratch, at least it didn't make them ill. Avoid!!

So I understand this doesn't reflect on the take away as a whole but they obviously don't train their staff well enough since when I asked to make sure everything was vegetarian I was treated like an idiot by the woman on the phone. To be clear this woman was British and obviously did not cook the food because she did not consider the fact that often Asian food is cooked in animal fat or with animal paste or sauce like shimp paste or fish sauce. I don't want to come across as an annoying vegetarian but often people that have dietary requirements and cannot process some things like meat and have to ask to be sure. Because of allergies, a restaurant has to by law take into consideration these requirements so for an employee not to be respectful of this is ridiculous and could be dangerous to those with severe problems.

Excellent choice, good friendly service, long opening hours not expensive and most importantly good food.

Food is always okay. Best to order something that can’t be messed up. A good takeaway after the pub. Staff are always friendly.

Have been eating here for years, ordered last night and was told I was barred as someone from the household had ordered two takeaways and not answered the door which is bollocks , do not eat here !!

We have been going to this Chinese for years but it really has gone downhill now, so much so we won’t be going back. Got a green Thai special curry and the sauce was like dishwater, the chicken fried rice was tasteless, this was two weeks in a row as they gave us a credit because we complained but won’t be back.

Worst food I have had from a take away, spare ribs were little balls of grizzled crap, chicken was horrible rice dry and bitty,the curry sauce was red and didn't taste much like a curry ruined my night and I paid for it more fool me.

We normally have a take away on a Sat night tried quite a few in Cumbernauld our usual one chicken meal it was like rubber could not eat it ended up in the bin tried other ones but this one the Pearl very tasty well served up and waiting time for delivery not long well worth the money

Had the 2 course lunch for £4.20.

We use this place often for take away and have never been disappointed. The food we have had delivered has always been delicious, plenty of chicken in both their chow mein and their chicken fried rice. The mushrooms are the best we have had. We love this place, definitely recommend.

worst carry out place i Scotland. food disgusting. Doesn't matter what you order its tasteless bile. not cheap either. don't even think about thai food. its bl;and and tasteless, probably out a jar. By far the worst chines carry lout in scotland.

Love the Singapore Rice Noodles from here. I drive out especially to get it. Best there is. Their salt and pepper chicken is great too.

I've been going the the pearl for years but it's slowly gone down hill. With us having to phone and complain the last three times we have ordered. Always spill our soups and food always leaking, pretty much always cold, second last time they delivered we have to phone and complain as we poured curry sauce over our food to find it didn't taste right (like a beef stock cube) phoned and the manager said he tasted it and they forgot to put flavouring in it. Got a delivery on Sunday night and I've had food poisoning from it - it was the prawn crackers - I actually said when it arrived "oh those prawn crackers are a funny colour and taste different" thought it was a new recipe. How wrong I was... two days in bed bed/bathroom. Never ordering again. Not the same place it used to be.

We both got chicken curry and it was the worst ever. The colour looked like a barbeque sauce and the chicken was brick hard. What a waste of £11.90. We won't ever be back!

I have used this place quite a few times and have never been impressed by the food. My latest order was for a chicken fried rice. It was bad. Got a great big fatty chunk in it. Rice was tasteless. The other dish was chicken and cashew nuts which I was informed was just OK. It is the closest one to me but won't be ordering from here again.

This is a place that i've tried a few months ago and it was excellent, rice was wonderful and the soup was restaurant quality. This however hasn't lasted.I've tried to order from here 4 times, twice successfully. The other times whilst ordering food the people were incredibly cheeky, one even went so far to tell me to stop shouting. I'm only trying to order a curry! This kind of attitude to a paying customer really isn't on at all, and it's happened twice in a row. There will not be a third.the other times the food has been thrown together, omelette without any seasoning, chips overcooked with small crunch pieces. Do yourself a favour and call the golden bowl.

I got a meal from hear today waited over an hour for it to arrive the food was really bad got chicken noodle soup had no taste chicken looked awfull, I also got a Thai chicken green curry and fried rice it smelled horrible same with the chicken was like it was all chucked in together , rice was over cooked , never again

Food is average to be honest I only ever order from here as the accept card payment. But today I ordered and I was not impressed by the customer service at all. My food arrived and I ordered a special fried rice but was given a vegetable fried rice. When I phoned back I was told they would deliver the special fried rice but I would have to pay the extra and the delivery fee. I did not mind paying the extra for the special fried rice as I do understand it is more but for them to make a mistake and try to charge me for delivery again! I was told if I came and got it myself I would not be charged delivery . Even though I paid for delivery for them to deliver the wrong thing. After making it clear I should not be paying again for delivery they finally agreed. Will not be ordering from here again!!!!!!!

Main meals were nice but chips taste like reheats and also poor bag packing skills as my bag was top heavy so with every corner the sauce from my food was all over bag because it was rolling about my car floor. Shame the peral was once a good Chinese

Food has generally good quality and taste.The bbq chicken wings are a favourite (why do so many Chinese takeaways put them in batter?)I have enjoyed the satays and chow meins but my main issue is the portion size of curries. They are priced the same as elsewhere but the contents is so poor. They're put in the same size tray as rice, so you get smaller amount of meat and sauce than anywhere else.

Oh my gawd , what has happened to this place recently. I have stayed in Craigmarloch for 18 years and this place used to be brilliant. What the hell gas happened ... Totally tasteless food and what sort of chinese restaurant can't even cook boiled rice properly. Also the staff here used to be so friendly but now they couldn't care less !!! DISGUSTED .!!!

Where do I start. If the people of Cumbernauld think that this is a good takeaway then no wonder everybody outwith see them as backward. The curry sauce of what there was little was red, yes red and disgusting!!!! when was the last time you received your main in a small tray, come on we are in the 2000s. I will never use this pathetic excuse for a Chinese takeaway again, I suppose it's my own fault really, if I wanted a decent curry I should have travelled a bit further into Glasgow.

I have been using the Pearl for many years but have not bothered to write. About time I righted that wrong. This is a cracking wee takeaway with virtually the same staff throughout the years who are very accommodating when you want to tweak meals or ask for suggestions. Absolutely consistently good food.

The staff at the front counter are brill they are friendly and are always good at recommending new dishes when I fancy a change. Just what we need from our local take away.

Got a takeaway from here for my family on Christmas Eve. Food was excellent. Tried a few Chinese takeaways in Cumbernauld but this was by far the best! Excellent!!!

This review is over 5 seperate occassions of ordering food from here as I was hoping the first times were just bad nights.But no, all five times the food was awful. It's hard to mess up fried rice and a portion of sauce but they manage it. Rice tasted bland and reheated and the 'satay' sauce... Well they got it half right, it was sauce, barely but not satay. I'm not sure what kind of sauce it was but it was disgusting.Save your time, money and tastebuds and order from ANY other Chinese takeaway in Cumbernauld.HOWEVER, if you do want bad food, it does come with a good price range and delivery times are short.

After moving into the area and shopping at Tesco next door we tried this for our evening meal as plates etc still in boxes. Order taking and processing quite quick, meal arrived also quite quick - didn't check it as all tied up - missing a starter. Couldn't be bothered phoning them as too tired. Tried again a few weeks later with family over visiting and had it delivered. Took 45mins on an early Saturday evening which was absolutely fine - missing a main course so phoned and advised it would be with us in about an hour - really!! Told them not to bother. Gave them one last chance a few months later but collected this time - again order incomplete but they then phoned saying we'd left something behind - again really! I took what was handed over. Sorry to say we've never been back and have no intention of using again. Food was poor to average on all occasions but we didn't know any better at the time as being new to the area.

I've had takeout from this Chinese for years and it's consistently, fast, delicious, and run by friendly staff. Absolutely perfect!

We use the pearl on a weekly basis, and have always loved their food but lately........It's gone way down hill.A few times we have collected and stuff is missing, essential things like rice for your meal not there. If you ring they say you can go back and collect, which would be another 10 mile round trip. It's happened a few times, and is so infuriating. Clearly their system is not working to ensure an acceptable level of quality control. This basic lack sadly costs them customers. We have stopped using them after years of happy eating. The chicken fried rice is so dry and rubbery chicken just adds to the displeasure.We are now using the dragon palace, and it's the pearls loss.

This is the worst Chinese ever. Horrid food. Dry reheated food. Terrible service. Go elsewhere. Perhaps tesco for microwaveable ready meals.

Food bland, full MSG , orders regularly wrong, ages for a home delivery. lost count number times they have given me the wrong type of noodles. Given me the thick greasy slimy thick noodles. Do your self a favour and avoid this dump like the plague.

I regularly use this take away and have never had a problem with incorrect order or cold food. Love their Chicken Satay and Salt and Pepper Chicken.Probably my 2nd best Chinese in the area behind Silk Cottage and on a par with Lucky Garden.

Just received my delivery from the Pearl. Curry sauce missing. The offer from the pearl - would you like a credit note for the curry sauce. NO I want sauce with my dinner. I also want the chicken balls replaced because they'll be cold when the sauce arrives. Answer I'll check with the boss. The bosses answer we'll need the original chicken balls back. WHY I ask myself. The only reason to ask for them back would be to re-heat and then re-use them YUKKKKKKKKKK

Very disappointed 3rd time rice has been missing from my order. On this occasion I decided to call to let them know the feedback, however, I was met with lots of questions who took the order, did the employee read order back to you etc., and believe it or not no apology. Perhaps an apology in the first instance would be a good idea next time round for your paying customers.

Tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt several times but every time I was disappointed. Food is of poor quality and I would never return. Avoid the chicken omelette at all cost as there is not a bit of breast meat to be found in it. Yuck!

I have used the "Pearl" for many years and have generally been pleased with the quality of food.However,the last 2 or 3 times the standards appear to have declined.My last meal Sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style was a search to find the pork--which when discovered was very chuck.the sauce was a monosodium glutamate over kill and could have been used to put up wallpaper.The Chicken chow mein must have had half a tub of salt added and the chicken was the draggles recued from the wing.I won't mention the ribs--suffice to say the bone was more tender than the meat!!There are plenty of takeaways in the vicinity----this is not the way to maintain your loyal customers.

We decided to try The Pearl for a carry out. Sadly our experience was not a positive one. Firstly the food was barely warm. Then the terrible quality, very salty and very greasy. It was really an absolute waste of money.
