Great pub enjoyed good food and really good service loved that dogs could sit inside

We had a meal earlier this evening, which was lovely as usual, and the staff were great as always. My only grumble, was the pint of cider I had. It was virtually tasteless, and a little paler than usual.

Lyn and Leanne were attentive and friendly. The colouring provided for our son was a great touch. Thank you.

Lyn Leanne was attentive as a waitress and engaged well with my son, which is always nice to have, bringing over crayons and making him smile. Food was average, fish & chips, decent sized kids roast, kids mac 'n' cheese was small. Was quiet and service was quick, not as cheap as I'd have expected. Overall good experience.

We stayed at the travelodge next door for 2 nights and enjoyed breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday and also went for dinner on Saturday evening The food was great for every meal and staff were all really friendly and helpful, we will definitely be back again soon

Pleasant atmosphere, polite service, good food. We used the app, unfortunately there was an issue with the system meaning a delay for our drinks, staff were apologetic and sorted the issue promptly once it had been discovered.

Food was adequate. Could have been cooked better. Did feel it was spread out to fill the plate though. The desserts were nice.

Here's somewhere we didn't think we would be dining? A modern, family-friendly pub, restaurant overlooking the Camel Estuary with spectacular views! It's part of the Marstons pub chain. What drew our attention was a familar face plastered everywhere you look. From the car park entrance to the pub foyer and on every table,advertising "The best ever pub pie". It was none other than Tom Shepherd. He has done a collaboration which allows the wider public to try food a Michelin Star chef has created. We took our doggies and sat outside on the garden benches. To order anything you are encouraged to scan a QR code on the table. We prefer to order at the bar. We ordered a couple of starters. Prawn Cocktail £7.79 King prawns dusted with paprika, Marie Rose sauce, little gem lettuce, plum tomatoes, cucumber, lemon mayo, rustic bread & salted butter. Crispy BBQ Cauliflower Wings £6.99 Spring onions, red chillies, chives, roasted garlic mayo. These arrived at our table in double quick time and were surprisingly pleasant. Onto the mains. Pan-Fried Sea Bass £20.79 Two sea bass fillets, garlic King prawns, rosemary & garlic-roasted potatoes, kale, peas, green beans & mangetout, grilled lemon, with a white wine sauce. We had to have the Best Ever Pub Pie £20.79 A triple layer pie, made with rich hand-pulled beef cheek and pulled beef shin, sweet and garlicky caramelised onions, separated by a thinly sliced distinctively savoury, seasoned roasted potato layer, all encased within a deliciously textured beef fat shortcrust pastry. Served with creamed mashed potatoes, honey-roasted carrots, kale, peas, green beans & mangetout, and a rich red wine sauce. The pastry was more hard crust than short crust but the filling and the sauce more than made up for it. The prices for the mains we thought were a bit punchy. But they have a great offer on the website. If subscribe,you get a 30% discount code to use off all mains. Overall,we enjoyed our visit. The staff were very nice and friendly. The food was as expected. It's a lovely pub in a great location and it's very doggie friendly.

Absolutely incredible customer service. Staff were lovely and friendly, helpful too. Ordered 6 meals and desserts and couldn't fault any of it. Shame it's in Cornwall and not Devon as it would 100% become our go to restaurant. Dog friendly too 🐾

The place is really lovely and we often visit whilst on holiday in Cornwall as it is dog friendly and the food is good. Last night we both ordered chicken strip starter which came out within a few minutes of ordering which makes me question how fresh this is. It was tasty though nonetheless. My husband then ordered the lamb duo which he was pleased with. I ordered the roast beef (they had run out of pork by 5:30pm), when it arrived it had a hair in it, I informed the young waitress who took it to the kitchen, another young waitress then brought another meal out quite quickly, but when she left I realised this new meal didn’t have any seasonal greens with it, as my previous meal did. Nobody came to check on the table for quite a meal and my food was getting cold, I had to go and find somebody to inform them of this and in fairness to them they immediately got me some seasonal greens. I was just left a bit unsure about this meal as there didn’t seem to be much care that I’d found a long hair in my meal - most establishments would have personally had the manager come and apologise, check in on the rest of the meal, and good customer service would have offered a compensation eg. A drink on the house/pudding/small discount. Nobody seemed to care that my food had hair in it, which just didn’t really sit right with me. Once we’d finished the meal our plates sat on the table for over half an hour unvisited, which makes me think they only care about customer service until you’ve paid them. Disappointing as we’ve always enjoyed visiting this pub in the past.

We had a fabulous meal at Pearl and Trawl. The food was amazing and arrived quickly after ordering. The staff were so friendly and helpful, it's a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a great team who really look after you. The menu is great, there's plenty to choose from, and you are told before you order if something on the menu is unavailable. The pricing is great, and the portions are generous. It's a great place to eat, clean and comfortable, I will be booking again in the near future.

On a whim I decided to visit a friend who lives in Wadebridge so I booked a room at Travelodge which is right next door, and drove over from South Wales. We went into Pearl & Trawl to see if we could eat without a booking? We could and we did. We had a fantastic evening and we were very well looked after by our server Maggie, who couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great time. Not sure if it was my animal magnetism? My AC/DC sweatshirt? Or a mix of the two? Either way Maggie made sure we wanted for nothing and we appreciated her for it. Good food, amazing service with a very comfortable, typically laid back Cornish atmosphere. Loved it. I will be back real soon.

Great place we found on the way home camping in Cornwall... Awesome service couldn't be more helpful if they tried even one of our kids knocked over a drink and the bar lady replaced it with no hesitation!! Food was amazing 6 meals ordered all hot!! Looked and tased top ingredients and so yummy!! We even went for desserts and they were tasty too!! Great little pub with a lot of atmosphere clean and tidy and also dog friendly. Will definitely be visiting here again when back in Cornwall

The staff were extremely busy but the service was still excellent and they are all friendly and warm. We were a large table and all the food was hot and delicious. The only small thing I would ask is that the children’s meals and desserts be brought first especially for the little ones. Thank you we will be visiting again!

Disappointing and it was my birthday!

Went with a group of friends, menus were given out and we were asked very quickly were we ready to order when a couple hadnt even been seated, several dishes weren't available, 3 meals had been forgotten and some had finished their meals when they cme out, when asked for the tartar sauce with 3 fish meals, we were told, they would have to clean dishes to bring the sauce out, drinks were ordered and forgotten. Because of this and without complaining, we were offered a free round of drinks.

We visited twice and had food and drink on both occasions. Chelsea, our lovely waitress was attentive, kind and very professional. The food was out of this world. We highly recommend this venue.😊

Went out for a Mothers Day meal was told on arrival no roast dinners were left despite the website saying available all day. Selected alternative meals, one had roast potatoes which were not edible, rock hard and full of grease. Had to wait quite a while for dessert menus then told the chosen desserts were no longer available, then another long wait to receive the desserts. Even longer wait to see if someone would come over and ask if we wanted anything, bill or drinks. Had to go to find staff just so we could pay. Complained about the service and was offered a 30% ‘good will’ gesture. The manager was more interested in trying to argue than anything else. Won’t go back there again and certainly dont recomment

The food was lovely, staff was friendly. When I book I mention it was my sons birthday and they put birthday banner out on the table which my son loved. Definitely would go back again.

We were visiting a friend and decided to have lunch out. We selected the Pearl & Trawl as it was nearby. We had no trouble booking on line. The food was fine, although my steak could have been hotter. The prices were reasonable, especially with the 30% discount voucher available. Plenty of parking spaces. A very enjoyable experience.

We visited this pub a few years back and popped back in today for a cheap and cheerful meal. Food ok but felt very overpriced (even with the 30% off) to match a rebrand that didn’t suit the pub. Wouldn’t visit again based on this. Most customers were also crammed into one area of the pub despite it being relatively quiet over the couple of hours we were there. This made the atmosphere awkward.

We booked a table where we could take our dog but asked for a quiet area due to the dog being very nervous. Unfortunately the reserved sign had been removed by persons unknown so we were then seated in the normal restaurant area in a nice alcove area by very pleasant staff who apologised for the error. The service and attention we received was first class throughout our meal. The food was of a good standard with all plates cleared. We have always had excellent service when visiting this restaurant. Will be back again soon.

Came with a friend for an evening meal. The food was really lovely. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I would suggest booking as it was busy suggesting it's a popular place to eat. Will definitely be visiting again

Under new management and such a huge improve from the last time I came over a year ago The service was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food tasted really delicious and presented beautifully on the plate. Definitely highly recommend to all.

Our experience was amazing. Chelsea was patient and understanding with our requests. I’d put a note on the booking to say we were celebrating our daughter’s 16th birthday and they decorated the table, gave her a card and made her feel special. The whole experience was excellent, everyone enjoyed their food and the quality and choice was perfect. We would highly recommend the establishment and we will be returning

Lovely place, apparently not long refurbished. Food was lovely, servers were friendly and attentive and it was a nice venue. Definitely will be back.

It was ok. Popped in for a quick drink. No-one behind the bar until we made noise. No coke, no zero % peroni, but they did offer alternatives (pepsi and bud blue amongst others).

We’ve had a couple of nights in The Travelodge next door. So on our first afternoon we went for tea. They have a three course option 12-17:00. We took full advantage of this. Expecting small portions given the offer we enjoyed three lovely courses. With a £2 supplement for steak £21 each for three courses, we enjoyed a lovely meal in a lovely atmos and the staff are very good too. The evening menu also looks great and for Cornwall the prices are what you’d expect. Drinks are pricey but good. Let’s face it it’s a treat you enjoy whilst away. We certainly did.

Wish I'd read the other reviews here before going. Bloody awful; 1hr 20mins for five meals, all had something wrong with them and all were cold. Partner has complained but two days later we're still waiting for a reply. Edit: it took them FOUR YEARS to respond to this feedback! Says it all really!

We’re local and haven’t been since a disappointing meal when it was the falcon. Totally different experience tonight. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, piping hot and tasty food. Becky Jules and Rosie were upbeat and friendly. We took advantage of the mid week set menu which made it an affordable half term treat. Would recommend for laid back, family friendly meal.

Went here as it was convenient that it was next to the hotel we were staying in. Food was nice but a bit pricey for what it was.

Asked fora vegan menue to be told I have to look it up on their website. No one in the place the whole time we were there no fire lit in February no atmosphere. Burger buns came with sauce and one bit of lettuce. We had 1 cup tea 1 coffee 1 coke which came to over £60.

I was told to look online if I want a vegan meal so I asked for salad and chips and was told I had to pay for the meat that goes with that meal. Three of us ended up with burger buns. Mine had a bit of lettuce in it, horrible. Extortionate price.

From the minute my husband,myself and our little boy walked in we were made to feel very welcome. The two staff working were very attentive and were absolutely fantastic with our little boy making the effort to chat to him which for us was a lovely thing to do as there's not many places that do that!! The food was delicious,the atmosphere was lovely and as I said the staff were just brilliant. We will be back

Very comfortable setting although food orders stopped at 7 due to a cook off (didnt establish if there was a competition in the kitchen or a cook was off), but ordered by 6.55 and so we were ok. Not busy at this time of year but it was light and warm in the restaurant. Tables clean and table service prompt. Food delivered as pictures below was quick and absolutely delicious. Plenty of it as well. All in all a good visit. Plenty of parking, easy access, toilets clean and tidy. It will be on my options list for future dining.

My sister niece and I, recently revisited , and were warmly greeted by Becky , Becky seemed to be the only member of staff , but she was very helpful, informative and generally a real asset to the pub , a people person , it makes a vast difference to your experience of a place if the person that serves you is as welcoming and helpful as Becky . Much appreciated .

We’ve been here a few times for lunches and dinners and have always had great food and very nice staff. We visited again last Sunday and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. The restaurant was lovely and warm and nicely arranged. We were looked after very well by Chelsea and Julianne We’ll be back!

Having visited a few years ago and not been overly impressed my Partner and I thought we’d give it a try before doing the weekly shopping. Used the website to book which was really easy. Upon arrival we were greeted straight away and shown to our table. Drink orders taken pretty much straight away and once we’d decided on food our food order was taken. Didn’t have to wait long. Both decided on the two curry’s available which were absolutely delicious. Was going to have dessert but couldn’t fit it in. Overall a really lovely place with delicious food and very friendly helpful staff. Will be visiting again!

We had booked a table for eight people and although my meal was acceptable (steak & ale pie) the steaks that were served were not so nice and no one enjoyed them or the vegetables that accompanied. What ruined my enjoyment were the number of dogs in the restaurant. The two tables next to ours had three dogs between them and there were more on other tables. I do not eat at a restaurant to be surrounded by dirty, noisy, barking, unsanitary animals. The Food Hygiene Regulations 2013, under EU Regulation (EC) 852/2004, Annex II states that dogs are not allowed in areas where food is prepared, handled, or stored. In the definition of a Restaurant, it says that it is a place where food is prepared, so, of course they are not allowed in, by law. If a restaurant allows dogs into their establishments, then it says a lot about how the restaurant views its own hygiene. If it lowers, it’s standards by letting in animals where else does it fail to meet hygiene standards. Even the dog owner’s website “We Want Dogs” say “In general, dogs are not welcome in restaurants. People find it unsanitary or unhygienic”. Does anyone need a better reason to keep them out. I will not be eating here again.

Nice friendly welcome, all three of us had different meals which all came out nice and hot, very nice and affordable.

The staff here are friendly and professional. Always welcoming with a smile and great customer service. Julianne is always behind the bar and always helpful and making sure you are having a lovely experience with every visit.

We ate here 2 months ago and were disappointed but thought we'd give it another try. Wish we hadn't! Prawn cocktails were tasteless with tough prawns. The mixed grills arrived within seconds of finishing our starters and had obviously been kept under the grill to keep warm as the fried eggs were solid! They never came to ask how our food was, or ask if we wanted further drinks (they lost out on 2 large gin and tonics and a pepsi). They did ask if we wanted dessert and my wife said yes but after waiting 20 minutes for the menu we gave up. When paying They asked if we enjoyed our meal, I replied "so so" and my wife said "no". The waitress didn't even ask why we weren't happy! They were not busy, only another 8 people in. We will not be returning. Also food served on unhygienic broken wooden boards!

Arrived at Travelodge at 2140 and pub was shut. A group of 9 people all wanting a drink. Website said open until 2300. Spoke to staff who refused to open for us. Great British service.

Update December 10th 2024. Had a pint of Hawkstone lager at the Pearl and Trawl last night, frankly disappointing and not in the same league as San Miguel, each to their own. We had dinner which was very nice indeed, with excellent service. Update May 9th 2024, had San Miguel tonight, lovely. Scamp and fries with mushy peas hit the spot. Great pint of Pedigree, attentive service and food good but deep fried too long. Update April 30 2024, no Pedigree this time but enjoyed the San Miguel. Baked Camembert and fish and chips lovely and really friendly and attentive service from Maggie.

called in on the off chance wanting a Sunday carvery, they offer a plated roast. Opted for the roast beef, delicious, albeit I like my beef cooked for a little longer, the yorkshire was amazing! pricey enough. The staff were all very attentive, quick service & the place was very clean.Would go again 👍

This is the third and best time we have visited this restaurant and have found it absolutely brilliant. Special thanks goes to Georgina, Julianne, Becky and of course Zak the Manager, who have made the excellent changes within such a short space of time, to make it such a great customer experience. They were all exceptionally welcoming, friendly and took the time to all and listen, nothing was a problem. Special thanks also to the chef. Food was fabulous. Thank you all for a great mini break, we will be back again, very soon.
