The Peacock in Denbighshire

I never really take notice of trip advisor these days as it's a well known fact that most reviews are faked to improve a rating or are done by individuals who try to blackmail establishment by giving a bad review. However seeing as this place has so few negative or faked good reviews and the fact every time we drive past they are usually packed, we decided to give it a try, and to be honest my family were not disappointed! Very good food and very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely will be returning.

Estado viniendo a este para llevar cuando estoy en la zona, alwsys comida excelente y un personal simpático, sin embargo, desafortunadamente, debido a este lugar es muy popular entre los tiempos de espera puede ser un poco largo, especialmente en las horas pico. Pero siempre dispuesto a esperar, ya que la comida está garantizada y no ha sido fresca, sentado en un armario caliente para las edades, a diferencia de otros sitios de comida para llevar!!

Este no es un asiento en el restaurante es una comida para llevar. Comidas muy bien aquí, pero a veces el servicio lento! Una amplia selección de comidas chinas. Todo servido caliente. Este fue un regalo para llevar en el día de la madre, y disfrutamos mucho!

This is one of the best Chinese take away in the area. Extensive menu and easy phone ordering, wish they would deliver but you cant have everything I suppose! We would recommend this take away.

We have actually been coming to the Peacock for a number of years now, but only now managed to make review! Anyhow, as ever the food is excellent! Special recommendations go to their Satay dishes. No other place makes it like this! The Satay here is just so much more delicious, more creamy and 'coconutty' (if there ever was such a word!). It's actually great with a portion of chips! I somewhat agree that the wait times on Saturdays are a little bit longer; there's always a big crowd, but the way I see it is that even in these recent times, when other businesses are near empty on Saturday nights, the Peacock is still going strong. I think that's a testament to the great quality of the food.

The best chinese take-away in the area. Always great food and in good portions. Sometimes a little slow, but the popularity is a good indicator of how good it is.

This is the best takeaway in the area finest chinese i have ever had. Great meals especially the cantonese sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and also great prices. I also like the little touch of giving out fortune cookies with the meals. If you love chinese I seriously recommend trying The Peacock.

My rating is representative of the services provided, NOT the food. This place is probably one of the nicest Chinese takeaways around, but frankly the wait for the food is ridiculous and off-putting. Regardless of whether an order is placed via the phone or in person over the counter, the average waiting time is always around 40 minutes. It is a guarantee that with every visit you will hear customers discussing how long they have been waiting as they were told their food would be ready in 15-30 minutes. Often the wait is over an hour and In my opinion this is totally not acceptable. The wait time provided by the staff misleading and unrealistic, and this level of customer service is not acceptable and needs addressing asap. As far as I know this problem is common knowledge so I'm sure the owners are aware, but nothing seems to change to improve the situation? It's a shame that they don't invest more time into developing their customer service as this would improve their customer satisfaction rate dramatically.

We have been regular customers at this takeaway for 30 years, sadly over the last few years the quality of the food is consistently inconsistent. The 'specials' (fried rice, chow mein etc) used to have a great selection of meats and king prawns but not any more, even allowing for inflation the meals are no longer good value. My son was recently given a wrong order, rung to explain, he was told a replacement would be given next day, when he went in he was told he couldn't have the food as " your mother put the phone down on the manager" How Rude!!!!!!!! The long waits despite ordering by phone are beyond a joke now, time to look elsewhere.

Ordered a takeaway for the family was told it would be ready in 40 minutes to find out when i had arrived that they had only started to cook it. Waited a further 25 minutes before it was finally ready the food was average at best will not be going again or recommending it.

Phoned up with the order and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. Got to the shop after 25 minutes and had to wait a further 1 hour and 10 minutes until it eventually appeared (lots of other disgruntled customers). Got home and discovered I had been given the wrong order. Phoned up and the Manager said he'd owe me one for next time - yeh right! Not very impressed to say the least and had to drive back again. Returned wrong order and got a refund. This is the second time this has happened in the last 3 weeks. The only difference then was they completely forgot about my order and I was left standing for over an hour while later orders were given ahead of mine - unbelievably annoying. They just keep answering the phone and saying 25 minutes but don't do any cooking until you get there and then you're in a massive queue and it's pot luck. They really shouldn't answer the phone when they have a shop full of customers and greedily just grab any order at the expense of waiting customers. Unless you've nothing better to do on a Saturday night than stand around waiting then this is the one for you. For those of you that have I'd give it a completely wide berth and find somewhere else that values customers and is not driven by greed.

Food is ok, not amazing,chips are yak so always have fried rice, prices are not the cheapest around but the food is much better than prosperity restaurant just up the road

We have been using this takeaway for many years now but the last 18 months the phone order waiting times have been a joke....phone up, ask how long, 20minutes (always told 20 minutes) wait 15 mins and go to pick up, pay and then the waiting starts.......1 hr + later you may get ur meal...1 hr + than the 20 minutes stated on the phone! The most annoying part is that the phone is constantly ringing and they are telling them 20minutes as well. And all the poor people waiting for an hour and more have all been told 20minutes!!! And then someone walked in ordered, paid and got served his food before us all!!! Can't fault the lovely food at all but they need to stop waiting for people to come in and pay before beginning to cook it. No other takeaway does this so why do they have to be different? Its such a shame bcoz it spoils what is/used to be a fantastic chinese takeaway. Very disappointing lately...needs a change George please as you will start to lose customers if it carries on.

The Peacock has got to be the best Chinese takeaway we have ever used, the food is always excellent and staff friendly. There is quite often a bit of a wait but the quality of the food makes it worthwhile.

went there because my local had changed hands and was more expensive for smaller sized portions at the peacock, if a Chinese can do the size portions in a smaller populated place with less custom then the peacock should match price and portion size easily food was nice not spectacular but will look further afield next time.

Good food, resonable prices great selection. Curry and sweat and sour prawns delicious, good sized portions and always hot and delicious.

Twice we have now found hairs in our food, we wont be going back here.staff should wear hair nets .,,

Have used this takeaway a few times and after every time, I say never again. The wait for the food is an hour plus. It doesn't matter if you have ordered on the phone as they do not begin to cook it until you have arrived and paid. if you have ordered at the counter it is usually started after the 2nd enquiry of ' how much longer' oh and it's fairly obvious that they don't mean they are sorry for the wait. And no it was not an exceptionally busy night.

Best Chinese takeaway in the area. We've travelled a good few miles to order from here, at least once a month for nearly 20 years. I think they've only ever made one mistake with an order and were happy to make amends.

Pickd up food, got all the way home to find the order was wrong. Called to put it right but they wud only swap what was wrong and by the time I got there and back the rest would be cold.So decided to crack on with what I had only to find somkind of jelly/goo in my black bean sauce! 10 out of 10 for that 20 quid down the swany and a hungry bear later I will never go there again! Got a takeaway from here and it was awful, the chop suey roll was dripping with grease and the curry sauce was sparce. It wasn't very tasty and for the price was ridiculous. Will not be returning!

A stop for four hungry workers leaving with a mass of food and free prawn crackers. Our takeaway was the envy of everyone who passed our dinnertable.Worth a stop if you are passing

Love this place. The food is delicious, that's why we tend to get our Chinese here rather than somewhere nearer home.Nice big portions as well! :)

We felt a little trepidation, having read the previous review, but it was a very good experience. We waited 15 mins for our order (on a Saturday night). Staff were kind enough to let us bring our dog in while we waited. The food was better than we get from our local takeaway, and lots of it! Would definitely return.

We have visited this takeaway on an almost weekly basis as its a stones throw away from our caravan. The food can sometimes take a while to be ready but the quality of the food is usually good.However, on our last visit both myself and my partner were very unlucky to find a hair in both meals. This has very much deterred us from returning.

I've been coming here for about 25 years. The food is always excellent and high standard. They always get the waiting time for a telephone order completely wrong, it's always much, much longer, which is very irritating! I wish too, they took cards.

You got what you pay for here, lots of options but all very blend and not much going on. It's okay to have if you just want something quick as I did when watching the football. Wouldn't use this place regularly, only as a last option.

We live locally near Abergele, but almost exclusively take the trip down to Rhuddlan as it's the best Chinese in the area.As others have mentioned (some rather grudgingly!), the food is excellent. One thing they don't do however, is fish & chips! We've been coming here for over 20 years! Surely must be the longest established takeaway in the area? The wait time for phone orders during the weekend is in general, longer than some other places. But judging by the queues on Saturday, it's pretty obvious the reason why; they are rather popular.

Used this takeaway for the last 12 years and I must say it has been the best takeaway in north Wales by far ......until the last few months!! Call up and place a order and they always say 20 mins for collection then you get there and there is about 20 people waiting with the same message 20 minutes wait!! 120 minutes later my food is ready and my kids are asleep in the car and we spent £27.00 on food that went to waste coz I was lied to again about how long it will take to be ready and only me and the wife ate and it wasn't very good tbh so top tip if you want to eat at 7.30 order it at 5 30 or risk the lies and kids going mad ......also my wife has left me tonight because since the time we waited for our food she turned 37 and I missed her birthday because of peacocks so anyway on a positive note I'm now single and I have a loaf of chicken curry and prawn crackers if anyone wants to come round for a midnight snack ........I miss my wife

Always our first choice for Chinese food. Sometimes a bit of a wait at busy times but NOTHING like some of the previous reviewers. I don't know if telephone ordering actually speeds up the food here, I think mine gets done after I have arrived and paid. Love the food and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Ordered over phone and told 30mins, arrived and had to wait in take away nearly 11/2 hours. I repeatedly asked when the food would be ready and that I had been told 30min on phone only to be shrugged off. I accept the place was busy and would have accepted 15min or so but what shocked me most of all was that they were still telling people 30mins. I eventually got my food and got a brief sorry about the wait and no explanation.I vowed never to return, but to be fair the food is not bad and a few weeks later gave it another go thinking that it was just a one off. As a precaution prior to ordering I explained to them about my last experience and could they give me a realistic time that the food would be ready so i didnt have to wait as I only live 5mins away. They assured me 30mins and I arrived to find the place packed and spoke to several people waiting who had placed phone orders had been there over an hour. I waited 30mins and I asked one of the staff how long my food would be as I was assured 30mins over an hour a go and was told they were not sure as they were busy. I immediately told them that I didnt want the food and walked out blood boiling. Never, again, absolutely discraceful service. No other Chinese takeaways in the area have this problem.
