The Pavilion in Manchester

Everything from food to service and cleanliness and atmosphere is absolutely horrible and disgusting. This is the filthiest cafe I have ever visited and the council staff who let Coffee Cranks go should be ashamed of themselves and should learn the lesson and beg the previous people to come back. I visited the place twice when they first open. The first impression was bad but I thought it would be fair to visit again before leaving a review. Visited twice after that and I thought I'd puke when I went inside last week/two weeks ago. The two staff members were doing absolutely nothing there while the doors, windows, tables not to mention the toilets were so dirty and sticky that even being there and placing an order made me feel uncomfortable. Ordered a latte and got something that looked like a badly made cappuccino. Never again. Such places should be shut down.

Having not been to the park for quite some time since the old cafe had closed, I was pleasantly surprised to see it had reopened. Now I don't know if it's the same people who once ran the cafe but I don't recall the staff being very ignorant and rude. Ordered 2 coffees and 1 donut. Total came to £9.60. Coffee £2.80 each. The coffee tasted terrible so I returned to the counter to inform the staff. 1 member of staff looked puzzled like she didn't believe that it wasn't good and asked in which way didn't it taste ok. I explained how it hadn't been filtered. She said there's nothing wrong with it. How would she know? I asked her to make herself 1 or at least do something to see if there was a problem with the machine. She refused, I told her I didn't want a refund I wanted an exchange after it had been checked. She swiped the coffees in temper whilst mumbling obscenities to her colleague, what I assumed to be about me because her colleague looked directly at me then rolled her eyes. The member of staff was also scratching her weave( hair) then serving food and handling cash without hand washing. The 2nd coffee was as bad as the 1st. I left it and walked out. I do hope the staff were volunteers, as no employer would want to employ the 2 staff that were working there that day. Sunday 26th April 2.30pm. The old cafe was lovely and so were the staff

The Pavilion is a really useful addition to Alexandra Park in Whalley Range, Manchester. Alex Park hosts a 5k parkrun every Saturday starting at 9am. The Pavilion cafe is a great place to relax and rest after the run and to get refuelled. The staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of choices for food and drink.

Filthy tables with leftover food everywhere. Staff chatting while queue formed.and dancing around. How long does it take to heat up a pasty? About 15 mins here. No napkins. Forks arrived much later than the food.

Probably the 4th time I’ve ordered and after about half an hour had to go back and remind the staff….. it was very quiet….. maybe less time scrolling on the phone

Lovely service and great atmosphere - new management are acing it

Visited yesterday Saturday 13th Jan . Asked for two of the very few cakes that were on display looked like ring doughnuts with frosting on top, I almost collapsed when I was asked for £8 that's £4 per doughnut, got home to eat them they were stale and dry and the frosting came of in one dry lump. Fast forward to today and visited Lidl the very same doughnuts (actually cronuts) were in the fresh bakery section at 69p each they were the exact same thing bought from Lidl added frosting and then the massive mark up REALLY THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS I WILL RETURN TO.. would be interested in hearing from the person who is running this set-up 🤔?

I went in one afternoon - the servers were amazing however in the kitchen the manager was screaming at a poor girl. Not the vibes you would like at a nice cafe - such a shame, staff should be better looked after. Lovely toastie. X

The Pavilion is a great place to go, the atmosphere is nice and friendly and the staff are amazing and Maisie can make one hell of London fog.

Fabulous atmosphere born from a wonderful team of staff, Polly, Anna, Maisie, Billy, attentive, polite, efficient, cheery and hard workers (sorry if I have missed anyone - but you all are fab) ⭐️ Very dog & child friendly as long as kept on lead (dog not the child) Toilets clean, differently abled accessible toilet with changing table 👍

Great wee place in the park for some food. Dog friendly too.

A bit overpriced but it's nice.

I recently had an evening party at the Pavilion, and it was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, the building looked beautiful, and the food was lovely. A good selection at the bar, too. Highly recommend 😊

Great little cafe within Alexandra park, Staff, food, are great

I have been coming to this cafe for some years now and seen it change many hands! This has been exactly what it needed!!! Atmosphere was fantastic, food was spot on and the staff were great and attentive!

Service was fast and extremely friendly, staff were attentive and eager to please. I recommend the pesto panini and the cheese and onion pasty, they were both delicious. I would definitely swing by if I was in the area again.

My granddaughter and I had a toastie and coffee here yesterday. We sat outside as it was quite a nice day. The cheese toastie was presented well with side salad and the coffee always good. Good service with a smile definitely go again.

Food - it was 12pm on a Sunday, busy sunny day in the park - there was no food to be had. I asked for a pasta as there was a sign in the fridge saying chicken pasta, I was told in a sarcastic voice: “I don’t have any, it would be in the fridge if I did” In response - take the sign out if you don’t have it. Service - every table was dirty, I had to clean my own table with napkins which the staff watched me do and did nothing about it. 3 members of staff that I could see on shift none of them seemed to be doing anything. Toilet signs have been ticked off for every day, including this evening (written at 12:46pm) so either that’s from last week and hasn’t been changed or they have just ticked it off in case anyone checked. Atmosphere - the place is a mess and filthy I watched someone polish their own cutlery while waiting for a cake. The location is great and has a lot of potential I really hope they can get staff that are willing to do something / anything.

Lovely cafe in Alexandra Park. Sells a good range of food and drinks for adults and children. Nice facilities and not too expensive.

Enjoy a good walk inside the park. Summer is the best time. Visit with your family and friends, order your food and dine out side, enjoy the sun. Reasonable price. Great view. Less crowded. Enough space. Outdoor. Lake view.

Staff are lovely and friendly, really nice food and coffee, I will definitely be visiting again.
