The Pancake House in Forest Heath

The Pancake House used to be the highlight meal of our stay. Sadly, no more. Whereas the pancakes used to be freshly made Dutch style with the ingredients cooked within, they are now three smaller pancakes which, I presume, are warmed up. I've always ordered the Banoffee, where the pancake is moist and the banana is cooked with the pancake and deliciously warm. Now, the pancakes are really dry and luke warm with a handful of sliced banana stuck on top, no ice cream, a few squirts of cream and some sauce on top. There are no longer different sizes options - pancake or waffle are the only options. We used to come out feeling full to the brim, but today, we came out still hungry. Honestly, I couldn't be more disappointed and let down. We complained to the waitress about the poor quality, but were just told to write a review on the feedback from at the end of our stay.

Due to a glitch on their website our booking timing was logged incorrectly. instead of trying to find a pragmatic, solutions driven answer, server at reception basically just said "you missed it, were very busy" which is ridiculous considering there is a deposit (which we've now lost) and no recourse for an answer that would benefit customers (why dont we see if we can book you in a later time? Sorry about that im afraid we dont have any available slots until x). Simply pointing at the problem and telling potential customers "yeah its your fault.. so..." is frankly unnacceptable . Will be complaining across all review sites and escalating to Head office, our visit was today (6th October at 10 AM.)

The menu has changed which is disappointing in itself, the portion sizes have decreased whilst the price has increased and, worse yet, the fillings are no longer cooked into the pancake but plonked on top of the three small pancakes. When I asked if I could have a sweet pancake as a Dutch style rather than American style I was told I couldn't, which makes me think the pancakes are no longer made to order, as Dutch style pancakes are on the menu for savoury options so the ingredients are obviously available. I assume they are now batch cooked. We've been coming to Center Parcs for decades and the pancake house was always one of our favourite traditions, but these changes have made for a disappointing visit this year. Bring back the old menu!

Food is ridiculously overpriced and underwhelming. £11 for 3 very dry pancakes, a few meagre rashers of bacon and a half-full thimble of maple syrup = complete rip off.

4 adult breakfast and one child. Ok, we ate the food we had paid for but it was extremely poor quality. Dry pancakes, and a very doubtful omelette. We did tell our server at the end how disappointed we were, she said our comments would be passed on to the manager. I very much doubt they were. Centre Parcs you should do better.

We always enjoy the pancake house on our Centre parc trip. It’s a real treat, not anymore the menu change is disappointing. The pancakes looked shop brought and the toppings very basis. Why did they change it, dreadful decision. Will not bother again.

Awful experience, staff not allowed to speak to chefs regarding allergies and they won't talk you through menu options, advise you can only check on VR code.. also false advertisements on there notice boards on 5 pancakes, actually served 3 for price of 5. Also beware they add tip to the bill .. the taste of food wasn't great either. Very disappointed Been going regular to pancake house but def won't be in the future

Small portions, disappointing food and painfully slow service. The pancake portions here consist of three small pancakes, similar in shape and taste to those bought in a pack from a supermarket. Not what you would expect for the price. Despite being less than half full, it still took over 60 minutes from ordering to receiving our food. Would not recommend.

We visited the Pancake House twice for breakfast on our trip - the second time in the hope we’d just got unlucky the first time! Unfortunately it seems that it isn’t what it used to be. The fruit pancakes were just three cold, shop bought American pancakes with a couple of cubes of fruit on top, and while the French toast was better it was average at best. We drank two drinks while waiting for our breakfast- not ideal at those prices. One waitress held a glass of juice by putting her whole hand over the top of the glass, which didn’t feel very hygienic. The atmosphere is unfortunately like eating in a busy canteen - definitely not a leisurely holiday breakfast experience!

This is an average review only because some of our group enjoyed their meal and these were those who had the dessert style pancakes. I had the all day breakfast omelette. To say it was disappointing was an understatement. Basically it was half a plate of beans with a half a plate of rubbery, flat, tasteless egg (probably overcooked or delayed in serving). I had been looking forward to a traditional breakfast with sausage, egg, bacon and mushrooms. When I saw what was being served I did ask the waitress if I had got the right meal.! In this instance I could see a slice of mushroom embedded in the omelette and when I cut it there were a few small pieces of bacon. It was not good. The saving grace was our waitress, who was patient with all of the weird variants our group wanted from the menu and very cheerful. I am not the only one it would seem that thinks this breakfast is disappointing.

Very basic canteen style restaurant. Served by an absolute star! She explained the difference between American and Dutch pancakes and that they are not crepe style (which I think would be a great addition to the menu). Our child has ArFid and it was no trouble at all to serve the sauces in little jugs and maybe this should be done for all dishes, as the norm.

Came here same time last year and don't remember being disappointed. I make my own pancakes a lot and have been to quite a lot of American pancake restaurants. I had the 'New Yorker' which was simply pancakes, Bacon and maple syrup. The problems were a) don't think the pancakes were freshly made b) bacon was overdone c) the 'maple syrup' actually tasted like golden syrup and the pancakes had been drowned in it.

Good food, quite a busy restaurant and quite loud. Waitresses seated appropriately, and was prompt with our orders. It is a shame that other customers could not care about shouting across the restaurant.

Always really enjoy the pancake house. Had the New Mexico pancake which had lots of flavour and also had the banoffee waffle for dessert which again, a lot of flavour and super soft waffle. Service is good, really friendly staff. We had an issues with a vegetarian pancake but this was appropriately dealt with by staff and they were very accommodating. Will definitely return :)

Appalling “pancake”. Having advertised that they do vegan options we we looking forward to pancakes on holiday. However the pancake seemed undercooked & the topping minimal, also watery. A pile of inedible slop. A huge disappointment only salvaged by a lovely waitress who was so apologetic & agreed wholeheartedly. If restaurants can’t do decent vegan options then please don’t advertise them. Plenty of places that actually cater well for the ever increasing number of vegan customers

Food was excellent, service was excellent, great family atmosphere right next to the lake front area. We went for breakfast and as it got busier, the service remained attentive and helpful. Waitress recommended the Waffles which I had, and they were great, we're going back before we leave.

Why there are not more of these outside of centre parcs I have no idea. It is a wonderful idea for sweet and savoury breakfast, brunch and lunches. The atmosphere is a wonderful cliter clatter, the staff are welcoming and friendly and the menu is extensive for all ranges of tastes and styles. We were there with children and they enjoyed the soft play. The service was fast and efficient which is helpful with kids. Food was on point and very tasty. Yes the prices are a little on the high side, you are at centre parcs after all. If I went with friends I could see myself getting merrily drunk with a few beers and cocktails there as well. Defo recommend.

Best restaurant in center parc. It’s not too expensive and the portions were good. Lots of gluten free options, staff were very friendly and helpful!

We were so looking forward to it. The place has no atmosphere. The staff were kind and friendly, though. I ordered the Mexican omelette. The waitress informed me that this is a pre mixed (the ingredients, possibly except for the egg?), and I couldn’t remove the pepperoni. I took this as a sign of what was to come that they had pre mixed batches to get the food out. When it did come out it was obvious that they didn’t even slow down to season it. The “chef” had kindly picked out the pepperoni, and then cooked it on high heat for thirty minutes with no seasoning. It was absolutely revolting. Awful. Dry, loads of jalapeño and the sausage tasted like tinned hotdogs—- did I say it was dry? Forgot the cheese as well. There was a patch in the middle. Partner had the The English breakfast- the presentation made all of us uneasy. Mushrooms mushed and cooked into a dry pancake with beans on top. He said it was horrible. Don’t waste your money. If you are out of options, and do want to go, do not get anything savoury.

Excellent - staff really friendly. Our grandchildren , one again, really enjoyed the Pancake House. The selection is very comprehensive.

Great selection, all the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Our server Sharon was very attentive and even though as a rule they don't do takeaway they accommodated our request for the one member of our group that stayed at the lodge when they were feeling under the weather. Would highly recommend

Had a fantastic time here. The gluten free options were brilliant. They were extremely helpful to me as a wheelchair user and providing me with extra cups I needed to thicken my drinks etc. Just brilliant 👏
