I love this pub. The atmosphere is brilliant, and I never fail to attend a quiz on a Monday. Nyan, Olivia and Dan are friendly and amazing bar staff and I will never regret calling this my local.

This pub has been my local for over a year and there is nowhere better in a radius of 100 miles. I will alwyas adore the pub and its staff. They are wonderful and will forever have my heart.

Female staff refusing to serve.

I was on the otley run went to the bar to queue, this girl pushed in front of me and got served by the girl with red hair, I waited patiently then her friend pushed in front to order more drinks for their friends she then served them again, even though I’d been there before them both. After her friend ordered the bartender with red hair then served everyone around me who had got to the bar after me. Then that girls third friend pushed in front and the same bartender served them and completely ignored me. One of the guys eventually served me because he saw that I’d been waiting ages just to get one drink. Not a great experience.

When for a couple of drinks - it's a special pub to me my father used to go at the Pack Horse 45 yrs ago when he went to Leeds university at engineering school just opposite, the staff are very friendly also has a gig space upstairs

What a great traditional pub friendly helpful staff, upstairs is the 'Cloth Cat' Open Mic Night, nice atmosphere, talented artists and singers, good engineer,not forgetting the photo guy and the lovely lady who introduces everybody in such a warm friendly way, can't wait to go back to perform next week. Open to all who want to sing,play instrument, poetry ect, great.

Terrible bouncers! Ripped the holotag off my ID with zero reasoning, let me in after explicitly saying the ID was fake? So eventually they realised my ID was real and I was let in…. However, by now my holotag had been ripped off so my ID is now no longer valid due to them and I have purchase a new one. Spoke to the manager who explained they had numerous bad experiences with the bouncer. The bouncer even spoke to my partner explicitly before me after the issue and came across as incredibly sexist, disrespectful and rude. Clearly this isn’t the first time it’s happened and it probably won’t be the last.

The Packhorse reminds me of my student/graduand days - class establishment, management is fantastic!

Cozy and cool traditional pub located in a very fun area of the city but the manager is one of the rudest I’ve ever met in my life.

Our bartender Milly in the glasses was incredible, she was so kind and friendly. My friends and I will be back because of her. Manager give her a raise!

My friend came in your pub at open mic night last Thursday he was called a weirdo by a member of staff a girl !!! And other abuse !! When he rang me upset 😡 fuming

Came in on Saturday as part of a bar crawl, great drinks, good prices, Dan behind that bar was lovely!!

Nice bar, price is fair 6-7 beer choice I got a nice extra cold guiness, it's creamy and cold! Toilet is clean👍

They keep deleting these reviews. Your venue is loud, rough, disrespectful. Been plaguing our community for years with the 4am lock-ins, extremely loud music which is above legal level. Your horrid customers that throw up and trash our gardens, and NO consideration for the exhaustion and antisocial disruption to inner city residents. This is OUR area, not one for you to ruin with your tacky gross parties !!

Good little character pub, beer in good condition and the service was excellent, lots of seating.

Attended for a gig & hadn't been here before. Outside area was great and loads of seating. Staff were friendly and helpful, and free earplugs for the gig was a nice bonus as I'd left mine at home!

Me and my friend found this to be a lovely pub, with a well-laid out counter that is separate from the seating area! The service was fast and I enjoyed a classic WKD Blue, sitting at a comfortable seat. Cleanliness was maintained and the entertainment was quality, featuring a live band!

I first came here 20 years ago. Been coming now and then since. My last visit was four years ago. It has changed. The pool table is long gone. Now, the carpet is gone from all areas. One part looks like a mock tiki bar! It has still a Victorian layout but the interior is looking cheap as if their target customer group is students.

Nice and friendly pub! It's not too big inside as one of the rooms is just a pool table so if someone is playing pool you can't really sit there. The outside area is really large with lots of seating so perfect in the summer. The best part about it is the drinks are really cheep! The toilets need some TLC only 1 toilet in the ladies was acceptable to use the other toilet was broken so with the pub being busy there was a long wait to go to the toilet!

*PART OF THE OTLEY RUN* Although trying to navigate through this pub on a Saturday night Otley Run is like trying to navigate through an air-tight can of sardines, hopefully you’re too drunk to care at this point. During the weekdays, this is the perfect place for a big student meet-up for societies or pre-drinks. Occasionally there’s live music as well! Great for mingling with new people too, as the seating areas are open and encourage mixture between groups. Had a proper “Leeds” atmosphere.

Fancy a big student night out? Great place for pre drinks. Also they have aoad of good live music on upstairs as well.

A great selection of beers but cost more Than other local pubs no food available But advertised on line.

Awful service, waited 1hr 15 minutes for a drink and when we enquired about it staff were rude and just told us they were busy, would not reccomend.

Studenty pub just across from the university. Quite attractive historic facade and old-fashioned multi-roomed interior. Fine for groups, but a bit tired inside.

This is my local. A beautiful traditional style pub complimented by two forward thinking and friendly landlords in Jay and Pete. From the drinks to the events everything is done with a bit of TLC and a personal touch which helps makes this lovely pub stand apart from the crowd.

Amazing place to have a drink and have a good time

Went in on a quiet Saturday afternoon for a one drink and ended up staying for a lot more. The history and heritage combined with the selection of alcohol was great and the managers were fantastic. Annoyed that i don't live closer to this gem but grateful too else I'd be there way too often.

Recently reopened with new landlords, who are great - really friendly and welcoming, and keen to get to know the customers. Good selection of ales, well kept. Board games, darts, several lovely rooms to choose from. excited to see what they do with the old place.

Just been taken over this week. Great landlords good staff. Not for the faint hearted on a weekend as it is on the otley run but if your out for fun and a good night then this is the place to be

It's ok if you are a poor student and want live music

Pretty much unchanged for centuries (maybe). No-frills old skool town boozer. You'll love it or hate it. Probably the former.

Has an interesting mix of clients, ranging from alternative musicians to academics. Hand pulled ale never been great here, but booze here is generally ok if not slightly overpriced. Good beer garden and upstairs event space.

A Victorian corridor pub. Good pub, good beer. Space for meetings. Beer garden, partly sheltered. Frequently live music upstairs.

Once great tetley pubs kept going only by the bacchanalian behaviour of pissed up students let off the parental leash to wreak havoc in other people's environs

Traditional lovely friendly pub

Went there to see Cherry Suede and Stewart Mac bands. Had a great night. Bar Staff friendly, function room was suitable for the gig. We managed to get free street parking round the corner from The pack horse as we got there after 6pm.

Came for a gig, it was cramped but a great atmosphere. Beer was decent and not too expensive, would definitely come again.

Can get your own music on, not ever too busy and isn't too expensive

Best Staff in Leeds - by a Country Mile (equal to their Sister Pub, the Fox and Newt where they brew their own Beer). Best Juke Box in the known Universe. Dirt cheap gig and function rooms, plenty of live music and numerous events and Student Societies. Decent grub (they even let you bring in takeaways when not serving food). Animal friendly, plenty of Regular customers and of course Otley Runners (Fridays and Saturdays are awash with colourful fancy dress). Best beer garden for miles - proper sun trap, occasional barbecues in summer. Great takeaways within 30 meters staggering distance, especially the Chippy next door. Grade II Listed Building, traditional West Yorkshire Corridor Pub, can be a tad cold in winter (would be great to see the real fires burning) but with all the above going on - who firkin cares? Outstanding with First Class Honours - see y'all down there.

It is a pretty standard pub next to the student area. Beers are pretty cheap here though there is not much choice. Halls are very narrow and it is fully packed in the evenings. There are couple of rooms for people to sit but the biggest place is the back garden/smoking area with many tables surrounded by walls. Overall a good place to have a pint.
