We stumbled across the Ostrich on a Sunday evening before our morning flight from Heathrow, as we were looking for somewhere to eat. We opted for a table in the dining area which had a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The menu had lots of choice but we decided to go for the Sunday roast and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, hot, perfectly cooked with a generous amount of meat and vegetables. We were also pleasantly surprised to get a side of cauliflower cheese, something we normally have to pay extra for in our local area. The bill was also very reasonable for the London area. It is just a shame it is not closer to home as we would visit frequently, however we would not hesitate to return if flying from Heathrow again.

A lovely historic pub within the village of Colnbrook, a short walk from Terminal 5 Heathrow hotels. Plenty of choice on the menu and we had a tasty evening roast dinner for a reasonable price.

A lovely pub in the small village of colnbrook high street, we enjoyed a few beverages here after work as it’s not far from the industrial side of colnbrook and Heathrow airport! Drinks were competitively priced and service team were polite and friendly, definitely a great spot to unwind after a days work. There is adequate parking around the back, which is really handy as colnbrook village is very difficult to find parking on.

Stopped in for the night before our flight out of Heathrow. We were intrigued by the history of this inn and how authentic it is. Why stay in a chain hotel that could be anywhere in the world? Had lunch in the pub downstairs. Absolutely delicious meat pie and cold cider on tap. The staff is kind and genuine. A real gem.

Prebooked and pre-ordered Christmas lunch for 8 people. Couldnt pay customary £10pp deposit because the PDQ machine was not working when I called. This did not stop them kindly taking our reservation. We were given a private space that could hold 12, so we had plenty of room. It was nicely decorated and festive. Service was friendly, especially Cherrie. Food was lovely, I recommend the Beetroot Wellington.

Freezing cold restaurant, hour long wait for food, like the Marie Celeste, only positive was the food was edible! We had booked the table for 12:30 and after fighting our way through Saturday traffic arrived just after. So was a little shocked to find someone still hoovering the floor with a trailing cable meaning we couldn’t access the “dining area”. Although in hindsight this could have been a bad decision. We sat down and were given three menu’s (a table of four) our young lady finally came back with a fourth, no biggie one of us can share with our partner. After a while drinks were ordered and about twenty minutes later they slowly started coming out. The gentleman of the party had ordered bar drinks, the glasses were old and filthy. The ladies had ordered hot drinks, a pot of tea and a hot chocolate, the tea arrived with no cup, the hot chocolate just didn’t arrive for another ten minutes. Thankfully as old friends we chatted and time didn’t really seem to matter, however, we had already joked about drinking up and heading off elsewhere! We thought we would persevere but now wish we hadn’t bothered. Finally order placed after lots of fumbling about not having a pen to take the order. Shouting across the dining room to the kitchen to find out what the Pie of the Day was. We finally got all the food orders in. Now the waiting game began. After in excess of one hour to cook, fish and chips, pie of the day, sausage and mash and a fish finger sandwich!! It arrived all looking rather underwhelming and bland, it was edible thank goodness as by now we were hungry. Nobody had been asked if they needed another drink and by the end of the meal we were all really thirsty. I will hasten to add, the one staff member vanished between serving us. At one point someone arrived to check in while we were waiting for our food and we just said we couldn’t help but there was someone about. When she finally returned I asked for some water to wash down my food, it had been an hour and a half since my first hot drink. The boys asked for another drink too. She instantly bought their drinks, and subsequently vanished. When she came back with the jug of water a good ten minutes later she openly admitted she had forgotten about the water. We finished off as quickly as we could got up went to the bar and settled up, was this meal worth £100+ No bloody chance As someone who actually works nearby and is looking for a venue to book a works Christmas lunch, you have just lost a customer Bad business

I arrived here for Sunday lunch with my boyfriend the place was quiet and 4 members of staff are stood chatting at the bar my boyfriend said hello to them - nobody responded then we asked for a table for 2 and was looked at like we were a terrible inconvenience after looking for a menu I asked if I could have one then a very rude waitress said ‘no I’m in the middle of talking’- needless to say we walked out. We were horrified at how rude they were. No wonder the place was empty if that’s how you treat customers.

Such a beautiful friendly place, we drove past the other night and had to visit before we left. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table. We hadn’t booked but this wasn’t a problem, you wouldn’t believe you were right next to Heathrow airport. You can see it’s a very old building which definitely adds to it character.

I was staying in the Holiday Inn Express and although they also serve food I fancied treating myself. My online search identified The Ostrich as worth a try. And so it was. The bus ride was £1 and within a few minutes I was there. Described as a restaurant this was more like a traditional inn. I had tried to book via OpenTable but that seemed not to work - although apparently it did - but fortunately there was a table free near the welcome of the open fire. In addition to a lovely pint of Spitfire, I opted for the breaded squid rings and the (homemade) roast vegetable strudel. All excellent. Service was prompt and courteous. Perhaps I've a bit picky, but I particularly liked the response "you're welcome" to my offer of thanks - rather than "no worries" or "no probs" ;)

We stayed here after landing from our holiday. Although the Reception staff were wonderful and so welcoming, I was more than disappointed with the room… It was huge (which was great), and my 9yo loved the sofa bed, HOWEVER, there was nowhere to have a private shower as only the toilet was behind a closed door, just a shower head over a bath which doesn’t suffice for privacy. There was no soap at the sink, the bedside lights were covered in a thick layer of dust and the room just smelt old and musty, as though it hadn’t been used in a VERY long time. I get this may be the case because it’s an old building, but it wasn’t very pleasant. We checked in just before midnight and had left by 7:30am without having had showers- we just wanted to get home and get clean. Also, although the planes stop overnight, the lorries whizzing along past the bedroom windows getting to their airport destinations don’t. It literally feels and sounds like you have an 18 wheeler crashing into your bed. The overall pub is beautiful and outside area looked great, but I wouldn’t stay overnight again.

We were there on a Tuesday for lunch. The place was practically empty. The manager seemed engrossed on his laptop sitting the bar but he did tell the bartender to serve us. We asked about the soup of the day. After 5 minutes we were told there was none. We ordered a Ploughman's lunch (no cooking involved). After 30 minutes my wife asked how long lunch would be. She was told "Shortly" After another 15 minutes we left. We did not ask them again about the food because, like the TV Show, it was pointless and we did not want to even listen to an excuse. It's bread and cheese, pickle and throw on a bit of salad. 45 minutes and nothing. We may go back later this year to see if our lunch is almost ready.

I am sorry to rate The Ostrich as poor as previous visits have been good. We booked a table on Tuesday evening for dinner and managed to sit out in the garden. It was a lovely evening. The member of staff behind the bar was friendly and she was doing her best to keep up with the customers waiting on her own. Unfortunately the service only got worse from this point. We ordered food and picked a selection of starters to share which took a while to arrive and then came in two parts. A gentleman (believe he was the manager) brought the first two starters out a dumped it down in a way that the baguette feel of the board onto the table. The rest of the starters came five minutes later with the bar maid. The food tasted nice. When we had finished our starters no member of had come to anywhere near our table to check or clear our plates. Eventually two of our 3 main courses came out over an hour from when we ordered and the starter plates where cleared. While we sat there waiting for the third main to arrive we also had no fresh cutlery. Another five minute passes and then then my friends steak arrived. We still had no cutlery, that took another visit back in side for the bar maid to collet. By the time we started to eat our mains the vegetables on the lamb dishes were cold. The lamb was warm just about. Really not great and not what I had experienced at the Ostrich before. Finally I went to the bar to order two espresso and the poor bar maid looked like she was ready to breakdown and cry. She didn't know what to do with the coffee machine, didn't know what an espresso was and this bit took another 15 mins to get two coffees. She asked for help, one other member of staff just said something as she walked off through the restaurant and then the manager appeared. Loaded the coffee into the machine and left her to it. The whole experience was not great and if you are visiting the Ostrich I strongly recommend don't sit in the garden area for dinner. I

Car parking £5.00 per night (we flew out of terminasl 3 back 5 so hassle otherwise) Taxi £15.00 a no brainer. BUT our room 5 was absolutely great, quirky and very comfortable. Our meal in the evening was superb, my Veggie wife really enjoyed hers (can't remember what it was!) The restaurant had great atmosphere with lovely beams and pillars. Nice to think it was built before they discovered the US which is where we were going. As for the breakfast, my "full English" was a cracker, portions as big as the US and absolutely delicious. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the bar was full of atmosphere and a strane guy with beard, pony tail and hat. A great place to stay.

Quite delicious. The turkey was moist and served with all the trimmings but not swimming in overpowering gravy. The Christmas pudding was a touch on the heavy side but the mince pies were just the right size and with a good filling. At about £30 including a bottle of wine it was very good value for money at this time of year.

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience here. The service couldn’t be more awful. Especially from one of the staff members (curly black hair didn’t get her name) but all were generally awful. The beef Sunday roast was so bland. Have they heard of seasoning? Meat was of a low quality and tough (we asked for medium rare and got medium well). We had to wait 40mins for our plates to be cleared after our meal and most of the time we ordered from the bar because of the total lack of service. This put us off getting dessert and coffee at the end of the meal. When you go out on a Sunday with your family you plan to have a nice time. Businesses like this one ruin that sentiment and your entire day. Wish I could rate 0 stars!!

It had always been a bustling restaurant, I was amazed. “No food of any kind after 9:30” we were promptly told. All that was left were 4 belligerent drunk men at the bar, one of them started to go after us because we were American. It could have become ugly. The great thing about the Ostrich is that they not only have the usual selection of beers but also local / special or craft beer on a rotational basis. Food is good and pretty much besides the beaten track of Pub Food although you can get the stereotypic dishes too. However, the Ostrich is also the 3rd oldest pub in the UK and hence has a pretty morbid history (it's pretty morbid) and the staff is happy to shed some light with some stories.

We went for a business catch up to this Restaurent as we had some good feedback from friends, the place is very nice and has a nice atmosphere and quite busy.

We went here after work. The service was good and drinks OK. Food was mediocre, burgers better than the fish and chips which was soggy and flavourless. Prices were reasonable and toilets clean.

Beautiful cosy dining room, accompanied by a wonderful dining experience. As it was January, the dishes were hearty and very welcoming.

I stayed here on a Sunday and I got to sample the Sunday roast. It was the tastiest I have had in a very long time but I was disappointed to hear that at 2pm they had run out of Yorkshire puddings. Especially after hearing another guest say they were so delicious. This does appear to be a running theme when reading other reviews that they run out of things for Sunday lunch. Over produce is the answer. A few extra yorkies and veg isn't going to break the bank. Hence why I have given 4 stars instead of 5.

This lovely old coaching Inn has a really interesting history - from Highwaymen to Hauntings - it is a lovely old historical building, shame about the area around it. The food was lovely - met up with friends and we had a friendly welcome, order taken quickly. Interesting menu - we all picked different dishes and all were happy. No problems at all - we had a great lunch.

We had an extended layover at Heathrow so we booked accommodation from 10:00 to 14:00 (reasonably reduced the price for a partial stay). Very nice English Breakfast in the morning and Traditional Sunday Roast was very nice and popular with the locals as well.

Good gastro pub food with friendly staff and good vibe. Can recommend the Ham, egg and chips, and sticky toffee pudding.

Great building cosy yet modern. Lovely menu with (for the area) amazing food for the prices they charge. Just crying out bar staff who like their jobs. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by one who came out of the kitchen saying they were 'knackered'. First time I've not tipped in a while. Food faultless.

Had my Christmas lunch with 7 other family members on Christmas Day and can honestly say the food and service was perfect. The food was plentiful and tasty and we all felt really relaxed. I would certainly recommend and hope to return next year.

Came here after a year for a mid week catchup with a friend. Restaurant was not busy but service was so slow. Our starter came well before our drinks. We repeatedly had to ask for water before it came over. My main meal had a long hair embedded in the chicken. They kindly changed the meal but took half an hour to bring another meal out and my friend had already finished hers. We asked for the bill and eventually had to walk up to the bar half an hour to pay. Here we were served by a rude lady in a tartan shirt who seemed to be the manager. Terrible service! Although the food tasted nice , I would never return.

We stayed here before a flight Germany last month. The menu sounded pretty impressive for an ordinary pub - Gastropub sort of thing, I was delighted as having been forced to travel for work on my partners birthday the next day I wanted to buy him dinner.

Stayed here this week and used both the restaurant and the hotel. The hotel rooms have all recently been refurbished and despite being on the Heathrow flight path the rooms are quiet and very nice. Getting to your room can be a little quirky with several outside doors but not a big issue. With free parking and £100 per night and only 5 mins from T5 this hotel is a little gem. The inn dates back to 11th century and is allegedly the 3rd oldest pub in England, so full of beams and charm. Food is basic and not expensive. Nothing to get excited about, and there are better restaurants nearby, but easy to stay and dine there. Staff could not be more helpful.

Stayed one night , with dinner, after collecting Hubby from Heathrow Terminal 4 at 530pm ... decided the drive back to Somerset would be better the next day. It took less than 10mins from airport, was a really quirky room (No9) , with a spotlessly clean en suite , very large comfy bed . Dinner and breakfast both good . Staff were very efficient and friendly. This place is grade2 listed , so floors are uneven, stairs were weird , and the beams exposed authentic and quite low in places... dripping in history ! Would stay again when flying in or out of Heathrow Terminal 4 !

My husband Tom rang The Ostrich Colnbrook last Sunday to enquire about a Gluten Free Sunday Roast. I am Coeliac so I know I can’t have Yorkshire Pudding. The lady Lyndsey told Tom the gravy had an element of gluten but that I could bring my own. Lyndsey spoke to the chef and she said it was fine as they like to help out people with allergies. She said they often make vegetarians own gravy.

We've been here once before and wanted to go again to try some other dishes. It was quiet, but it was nice as we could properly talk to each other and didn't have to wait long for service. Food was very tasty, would recommend getting dessert (I've had the brownie twice now and it has never failed me.) If you are also lactose-intolerant, you can also ask for vegan ice-cream! As we are vegetarian, there weren't many vegetarian mains but the ones were offered were very tasty still. We were attended by Karan, who was very friendly and made sure we were enjoying our meal. Would recommend for a nice, formal evening out - dishes were moderately priced with filling portions.

I went before it closed. This was hands-down the best restaurant in Burnham and was always busy before the pandemic. It was a classic family friendly restaurant for the local area and we loved the crayons and pencils for the children. Let's hope it reopens with some of the same character and charm (& good breakfast!)

Perfect spot for breakfast in the ever busy area of Colnbrook, it’s close proximity to the industrial parks and airport position the cafe in a prime location for breakfast. Good hearty portions, served hot and quickly upon ordering every time no matter how busy it is! Plenty of seating whether you are on your own or with a group of people. A great array of breakfasts, cold drinks and hot drinks, me and my colleagues love going to FatBoys for a big breakfast!
