One of the best everyday food spot in York. The quality of food at Original Shawarma is too good and this is like my go to place for Tandoori chicken and Shawarma! They have the best cheerful staff and are soo spot on with the orders. Very generous with the portion of food and great value for money!!

I loved the sharwama. Been her twice in the last 2days and I can't stop coming fit more. I recommend the lamb sharwama. It's my favourite.

I visited original shawarma, on a cold Wednesday evening and what a delight it was, Myself and my friend both ordered a meal deal 3, which was a mixed wrap, chips and a drink The wrap and chips was cooked to perfection and I have visited shawarma restaurants in the past across the uk and this is up there with the best I’ve tried Staff were friendly and restaurant was clean, I will definitely be visiting again during my show week at the theatre and will be referring yourselves to my colleagues for a quick, tasty meal Thank you original shawarma 🥙

Pointless asking for a 13.00pm delivery of food, between meetings, as it was still in the kitchen at 13.10pm - noted for future, but it does make it less likely to order from here again if busy at work... But the food was really good

Marcas completas para la comida y extra para la limpieza del restaurante - cada superficie brillaba como si hubiera sido pulido a una pulgada de su vida! Stopping in York for a birthday treat and fancied shawarma, I work in Smethwick so I'm comparing to the best fare the Soho Road offers and this is up there - I had the Lamb, my wife had the chicken, both with naan, rice, separate salad and sauces, lentil soup and I had a falafel wrap too - generous portions, freshly prepared, tasted great. Full marks for the food and extra for the cleanliness of the restaurant - every surface gleamed like it had been polished to within an inch of its life! I popped in, ordered and took away on a Tuesday evening, all other orders seemed to be delivery collections.

Time kept getting pushed back, from 19.35-19.45 to finally arriving at 19.59 when food arrived after rider made 2 other stops, food was lukewarm and had leaked causing the bag to rip and containers lose in riders bag. Was given the lose containers and ended up with a huge pickled cabbage stain on my shirt.

The prices of the sandwiches are very good. Good location close to old city. The chicken shawarma sandwich was not greasy which is a huge plus for me, the flat bread was soft and different from other wraps I had, which I really liked. I recommend this place for a cheap tasty bite 👍

The tandoori chicken was superb!

10/10 never disappointed the lamb is amazing the salad is always fresh and even the rice is nicely seasoned which is rare these days. I always order the soup too very nice!

I popped in for the first time today as I work nearby. Got the shawarma wrap. It was absolutely delicious- packed with flavour, reasonably priced and the staff are lovely.

Best Shwarma shop in York and also cheapest by far, with homemade bread and a fantastic lemony pickled cabbage with your shawarma or falafel, you could pay far more for far less elsewhere.

Visited for halal option for takeout dinner, on a cold November night, and so happy with the very generous portions of lamb shawarma, and it was very tasty food indeed. We ordered two lamb shawarma wraps, one with chips and drink, plus a traditional Arab tea, all for just £15. It was delicious! Highly recommended, and definitely going there again. In summary; the flavours were authentic and fresh, the portions were very generous, and the prices were very affordable. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, served with Salaam's and smiles! Both of us were completely satisfied!

Spent over £60 for a get together with my girlfriend and friends, and all of our meals were missing salads and sauces, so the food was very bland and dry. And this would have added up to about £10 of the order. Will not be ordering from here again, would not recommend.

Quite central halal place. Food is value for money for a place like York. They do shawarma in Naan and not Lebanese bread though. Overall decent portions

Came here with wife to eat lunch, so happy with the big portion and the tasty food. We ordered full tandoori chicken with rice, and also one bottle of water for £15. It was delicious my wife is talking about going back to York just to eat here again. Definitely will go there again.

Awful, I don't know what the 'lamb' was but it didn't taste like any lamb I've ever eaten, the texture was all wrong too. The chicken was palatable. Salad was ok. The bread was really good.

Still the best place to go for an authentic Shawarma. Freshly cooked breads, great salads and sauces. I love going here for a lunchtime wrap when I'm working in the area. Quickly cooked and so very tasty...

I literally live over the road! I do not feel well so did not want to cook anything! So over the road I went for a halloumi wrap! I'm small so I thought the wrap was massive! For £4.00 I could not believe it, I expected it to be a lot more. The gentleman serving me was lovely, then I was directed to the lady at the till. She too was lovely and I just think that the whole place was fantastic and very good value for money! Very much appreciated to have hot food when I felt unwell and could not be bothered to cook anything! Cannot wait for the next one xxx

I’ve ordered a few times from here, i love it and always leave 5* reviews. Sadly, this time my order was wrong, I ordered 2 halloumi wraps like usual, one was absolutely fine and the other had the wrong ingredients. I wouldn’t usually mind however I can’t handle heat and it was filled with something spicy :(

Original get better and better with every order but the Chicken Tandoori was out of this world. A huge amount of delicious chicken for such a small price. Friendly and warm service and free baklava too, a wonderful neighbourhood restaurant.
