The Orange Tree in Dartford

The staff were lovely but the owner Max was so drunk that he kicked us out for no reason and told his friend in the plough pub that he had kicked us out but didn’t know why?! Needless to say that we can’t recommend this pub as the owner was giving us narcissistic vibes. Please read between the lines.

Max the owner was so drunk and when we rejected his advances he kicked us out. Ladies please beware of this man. The pub was dead and the music was disco which is nice but wasn’t giving us party vibes, the few people there were sitting down and talking, zero atmosphere.

This was hands down, the best Sunday roast I have ever had with an amazing atmosphere in the pub. Highly recommend the food, and the staff are equally as impressive.

Lovely local pub and very attentive landlord and staff. We had a very nice lunch and drinks and then spent time outside in the garden for another drink. A real local pub with an area for sports, DJ and dance floor, quiet drinking area, restaurant area with lovely fireplace and great outdoor space. Dog friendly too.

The food here is absolutely stunning. Been here a few times now. The Sunday lunch was to die for, so much choice and service was second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. Max the owner is always checking you are ok. Jo is friendly and professional. Stelios the new barman brings a little bit of Greek charm to the place. Will 100% recommend the atmosphere food and staff. Thank you.

Just walked in at 9.45pm to be told by the lady behind the bar that they were closing up. Maybe amend your chalkboard outside, which very clearly states you are open until 11.30pm on Saturdays...

What a pub! Definitely new ownership as it’s next level and now my local pub… The food is exceptional! Great chef and so happy to have a decent local pub finally.

We are local to this pub and heard good things about it recently so decided to pay a visit. It did not disappoint. We went for dinner as a family of 4 and was made to feel very welcome. We were shown to the table by Jo and she was really friendly, the manager introduced himself and checked that it wasn't too dark in the restaurant for us. Nothing was too much trouble and to top it all the food was both prompt and delicious. The atmosphere was good and we all agreed that we would definitely go back. Well done to the Orange Tree, the new owners really have made this into a great local pub.

Over priced Sunday roast (£21pp) and not a very good one, average at best. 11 roast potatoes between 6 with minimal veg, whilst Slow service. Meat however was well cooked. Good entertainment but overly loud if looking to have conversation over dinner.

My friend and went there for Sunday lunch what welcome we received. Max the new owner was hospitable and friendly. The Sunday lunch was well presented and definitely value for money. Then to top it all they had live entertainment a singer and sax player. What a rarity in these days. Will definitely be returning

The new owners have transformed this pub, into a a very well run pub and restaurant. This pub is such a breath of fresh air to Dartford. Great wines and beers. First visit for their roast dinners was today and it didn’t disappoint. You must drop in for the experience and support your local!!

The new manager has made a huge improvement. Service with a smile and really amazing food. Will be coming back for the live music on Sunday.

Lovely new management who took over a few weeks ago. Very friendly and welcoming management with nice beer garden. The guests were a mix of locals, families and couples. Dogs are welcome in the beer garden. The wine selection was great too.

Soo amazing just reopened. Excellent service. Nice live music and atmosfer. Can't waith till kitchen will open in 3 weeks. 10/10. Owner was so friendly even was walking around making sure everyone is ok and picking up empty glasses. RESPECT thumbs up 😉 Orange tree and team 😀

Had leaving drinks here, was really accommodating, would recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Apalling service, rude barstaff. Happily took our money to book 3 tables of 6, got there and they expecting us to squeeze onto 2 tables. Over an hour to get served for the first drink, 2 hours later and after asking well over 10 times, still hadn't got a second drink. Whoever manages this pub needs to be sacked, never experienced anything like that. Ended up walking out and going to the shop opposite to buy our drinks, left the pub completely halfway through the football. Will never be returning. DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO DRINK. have never known a pub to not want to serve drinks. Disgusting attitude from the bar staff

I love this traditional 'back street boozer' to meet up with friends at lunchtime for a few pints before going to the football. Always a decent pint of Masterbrew on the hand pump, Guinness is good and a fair selection of fruit based drinks for the ladies. Nice size rear garden that is well kept. Sport on the TV and a great selection on the Jukebox.

Just had a lovely roast dinner here. Must admit I am quite critical of other people's roast normally a let down..but this was first class .

A good English pub if you are after a drink but the Sunday roast we had came straight out of the freezer i`m afraid. Blend, unspiced, almost inedible.

Having been here in a couple of Fridays leading up to Christmas we decided to spend our New Years Eve here. The £5 entry provides a buffet and a DJ and a great night.

I went to see T3Pink Floyd tribute band The Relics for the 1st time and I have definitely found a great place to go! Not exactly a Palace but it's pleasant enough for a everyday pub, friendly welcome and a great priced selection of drinks and food for a fab price to.

Came in tonight, absolutely amazing service by a wonderful, clean cut well mannered and chatty barman! 10/10 from me!

Although this pub has had a refurb it hasn't taken long for it to deteriorate. It's appearance was shabby and uncared for, which is a shame as this has the potential to be much better. Not the most friendly pub I've been in. Wont be going back there any time soon.

Great atmosphere and good service

Haven't been In the Orange Tree for a while, but popped in and was presently suprised friendly staff and was family friendly, which is hard to find in Dartford. I had fillet steak which I like Blue this is not too all tastes but it was cooked to perfection better than MC last week and we could have are daughter with us. Lovely place worth a try!

Nice place , limited menu but if you want it with chips , it's a winner.. free tea with the set breakfast would make it better mind 😉

Good local pub with plenty of character

Ive driven past this little gem for years but recently went in for the first time for a 'baby shower' party. The pub is a fair size and has a wonderfully proportioned function area (which I hear from my friend was free to hire!?). The staff were amazingly welcoming and made me feel as though I was a local punter. Prices were average for the area and all in all, I had a wonderful time. Only thing to watch out for is the carpark at the rear of the pub was overwhelmed, maybe due to the special function that day. I found it easier to park on the road around the corner.

Despite the website advertising Sunday Carvery, there was no food being served at all.

Bloody lovely pub! Owners are legendary especially Sid the landlord, top bloke... Gets live music all the time and welcomes everyone. Good is lovely, recommend the steak Burger which I've just polished off!

I was a frequent visitor with good relationship with the old management and was sceptical when the new owners took over but I shouldn't have worried. Such a welcoming place, a good mix of all ages, great atmosphere especially at the weekends, enjoyed every minute ive spent there. Would highly recommend

Yes it is a pub with good people good beer and good fun. Shows Sky and BT sport has a great garden. Best thing about it is it is a real pub and not a chain.

Was looking for a place to drink with family to get in the Christmas spirit was an amazing night. The last reviewer must have been barred! Bar staff were friendly and welcoming.

This place is a hole. Staff are very rude and unpleasant. The landlords are clearly drinking away their profits, as they were drunk and having a very public row. The place is filthy dirty, damp and has no atmosphere. You are made to feel uncomfortable unless you are a regular. How this dive isn't boarded up is beyond me

Rude brassy barmaids only interested in serving men. Iggnorant staff. Dodgy characters everywhere dealing drugs. Supposed to be a family pub. Yeah right. Total joke of a place. Seems like a place where all the down and outs hang about and rent a room.

We went for Sunday lunch. Thought it would be a smart pub from the photo but the front needs painting & there were banners advertising live TV sports. The roast was mediocre, not very hot & for £9.99 on the expensive side. We have had better carvery meals for less.

Como no tenemos mucho tiempo para nosotros estábamos deseando a esta visita. Cuando nos acercamos el bar no podíamos haber deseado una peor saludo - un desaliñado barman sin habilidades de comunicación!!! Qué pena cuando el servicio en los pubs que están a los alrededores son muy superiores y el personal es verdaderamente agradable.

Would recommend the carvery - choice of three meats all cooked beautifully - great range of veg - lovely home made Yorkshire pud. Really enjoyed our visit - very drinkable rose and friendly staff and locals. Well worth a visit and we will be back.

Went to the orange tree as heard good things from friends. We were very welcomed as soon as we walked in by pleasant staff and shown to our table which we had booked. As we were told it can be busy and it is always best to book. The food was very enjoyable and you could tell it was all quality meat and fresh vegetables, a delightful selection of desserts and i really enjoyed a homemade apple and blackberry crumble. The pub had a great atmosphere and had everything for every member of the family. A pooltable at the far end for our young boys, sport shown at the other end of the pub for the husband and a lovely courtyard to sit in in the summer. Overall great visit, lovely food and a great pub altogether. Only reason i can see why there is a bad review because they didnt book which is a shame they didnt enjoy as much as myself and our family.

I was looking for a carvery having never been to one, after much research I saw the orange tree had fantastic reviews so myself and partner thought we would give it a go, usually going to The Lion in farningham which is fantastic, we fancied a change. well no word of a lie we sat down at 2:00pm and left at 2:26 pm firstly we didn't get shown to a table so your left to your own devices, the dining area was poorly laid out with only 2 tables for 2 people which were taken so I suggested sitting at a table of four that way if larger parties came in they would have the bigger tables, nobody told us what to do we were waiting like idiots near the food as there was no staff present not sure whether to help ourselves or if someone directs it, when staff did arrive they dished out the meat and we helped ourselves to potatoes and veg.The food itself was gross, the meat was salty I chose the ham and beef the beef was tough the potatoes didn't even taste like they went in the oven only boiled and the veg was watery and tasted like salted boiled water, I didn't even finish my meal as a bigger party had attended gave me an evil eye at sitting at a four table loudly voiced her opinion of this place should reserve tables and gave me an evil look as if it was directed at me, she kept turning around and staring at me which made me feel highly uncomfortable. I have no doubt that they should reserve tables as I see the guy that managed the pub looking at the tables left and the people he had on his sheet of paper worried he wouldn't have enough space which shown he clearly had over booked. All in all if me and my partner hadn't of left they would have been stuffed for tables, I felt rushed like cattle one in one out type thing and I will never go there again, You get what you pay for at this place and it shows throughout the experience if I was to recommend a place I would suggest The Lion least you know your not going to get rushed.

Had a family meal here today and we have all come away saying it's possibly the best cavery we have ever had. My family are a tough crowd to please as well. The meat cooked to perfection and a huge choice of delicious veg, potatoes and stuffing. The lady (sorry can't remember your name) gave us a warm welcome. Keep up the good work. We will definitely be back :-)

Went for Sunday lunch at The Orange Tree today on the strength of other reviews here & were not disappointed. Lovely carvery, huge range of fresh vegetables & a specially cooked vegetarian option which was much appreciated. We received such a warm welcome from the landlady who was extremely attentive & charming; nothing was too much trouble. Compliments to both her & her brother the chef. Not many places in this day & age offer such amazing service, thank you very much.

Wonderful fresh food, perfect for a sunday roast with the family. No loud music and a nice atmosphere, perfect pub for a lazy Sunday afternoon. They make you feel very welcome.

My friend and I went for Sunday Carvery today. She had been before and recommended it to me. What a find! For some time this old, somewhat run down pub was closed. It's now open again, cleaned up and nicely refurbished (in keeping with its age) and serving a spectacular carvery! We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, and shortly invited to the servery by the chef. He's obviously very - and justly - proud of the quality and variety of his food. There was a choice of any or all of pork, beef and gammon, beautiful yorkshire pud, and more vegetables than I can remember - including roast and boiled potatoes, creamed swede, carrots, onions in gravy, cauliflower cheese and cabbage. Where to start?! Honestly, just the dinner you wish you'd bother to do for yourself. I wasn't paying for myself, but I think the carvery is under £10 a head. Very good value for freshly prepared, good quality fare. From a Lady's point of view - and this is very important - the "Ladies" was perfectly pleasant to use: clean, tidy, sweet smelling, and with matching liquid soap and hand cream provided. There were also plenty of paper hand towels - so much better than a ghastly hot air blower.

Another visit, another great meal. Despite the recent hot weather went back to the pub last week and had an amazing meal here. The evening carvary is still up to standard and the salad bar I have seen is well stocked and fresh. Still great food and maintaining the standard is great to see!

When I heard The Orange Tree was re-opening, I gathered a small group and went to the opening night - and a good time was had by all! I've been back since for the Carvery and weekend entertainment nights and can't get enough of this place. The new managers are great and seem to have really turned the place around. I highly recommend a visit.

Been to this place three times now once the first week it opened then on Mother's Day and again on Wedsnesday this week. Basically the pub now operates a carvery as well which compliments the feel of this pub really well. The carvery is amazing and clearly carefully prepared to a high standard. Each time I have gone in there have been at least two choices of meet and freshly made Yorkshireman and vegetables. Each time there has been a variety of vegetables full stocked and fresh. Unlike most local places its not overly packed but if this carries on I can easily see it becoming very very popular. I certainly will be returning as it is the best carvery I have been in for ages! The pub also does some pretty good entertainment on Friday nights although my big thing is the food.
