Absolutely shocking service, staff walk past you like your invisible, the General manager is the biggest culprit

Unhelpful, unfriendly service. Food put in front of with no explanation of where one gets cutlery etc. Horrible vegan pizza with clumps of orange indescribable cheese. Plates removed from our table an hour after we’d stopped eating and no reference made to our hardly touched plates. Spent the 3 hours we were there feeling like we were in the way of them closing. The 2 stars for the service are for the young barman who tried to be helpful.

Excellent pub, we were there on quiz night but it didn't effect the enjoyment of our meal. The portions were plentiful I couldn't finish it.

I've only been there the once, and I'm not entirely sure I would visit again. Very loud, as the rugby was on. Very slow service, and very high prices. I'm not sure what's so special about this place, but they certainly think they're worth it.

My fiancée and i ate here this afternoon And had the lunch deal - great food “Teresa” served us and was very polite and welcoming Above and beyond attitude which we loved Thankyou!!

Very busy on a Saturday lunch time. Superb service. Our food was excellent. Loved the choices on the menu. Three of us chose chicken kebab with dirty fries. Food was well cooked, tasted fresh and was nicely presented.

Great Sunday dinner there. Veggie options a little limited but veggie Sunday roast was delicious. Perfect amount of food. Service was brilliant, really lovely and friendly despite being busy (they always are so make sure you book a table to avoid disappointment) the staff are on hand to help. Great choice of drinks too. Dessert was divine. Between us we had the sticky toffee pudding and custard, raspberry jam and coconut sponge and profiteroles and we all enjoyed our choices. We took my 4 year old grandson and he was well entertained with colouring and entertainment supplied by the pub - a brilliant face painter (wish I'd took her card) Who also supplied a craft table. It's my 2nd visit here and both times have been really enjoyable. Would reccomend to anyone.

The best food I have ever had in a Public house. Served with a smile by the helpful and cheerful staff. There is no doubt we will be back as often as possible. Very happy to recommend to one and all.

Way overpriced for what you get food wise, but a nice selection of beers, (which are also overpriced). It's a shame, but guess it's happening everywhere these days.

Apparently the kitchen closes at 8pm and seems staff don't actually know when the kitchen closes and staff would rather be anywhere else but there. Overpriced,Snooty pub.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to share my review of this establishment so you may be able to make an informed decision before attending this dear restaurant. A humble pub in the outskirts of the capital city, I was recommended this place for a tasty dinner before a long drive back to the West Country. I was famished after a long day of sightseeing and walking aplenty in the great streets, lined with festive decorations, and bouncing with visitors. I was served by a young, handsome gentleman who identified himself as Alex and had us situated jolly quick. I had a real hankering for a proper Sunday dinner while my dear wife enjoyed some fish and chips. Our waiter who had brought us drinks, even accommodating for my necessity of a 0% drink. Our meals were brought in very reasonable time and I have to say, I will certainly be returning here very soon, provided the standards remain the same in the kitchen and outside the kitchen. Parking was free and an adequate smoking area was available for shelter from the typical British weather. The only negative remark I could possibly utter is the behaviour of certain locals who left a slightly sour taste in our mouths. Otherwise however, a fine experience which I will look back upon with fondness. I must again reiterate how great our service was and that these standards should be upheld universally in my opinion!

First time visiting for many years and came away disappointed on a quiet Thursday night. Indoor tables are a bit too cramped for parties of over 10. No pizzas were offered on menus as only one adult pizza was available to purchase (ie only one customer would be able to buy pizza that night). First time I've ever found a bone in a chicken burger (which was also quite dry). IMO the food is overpriced for the quantity and quality offered.

Went here for a casual lunch with some friends and their kids. Good service and decent pub grub food. Be warned that the car park is a bit tight and not quite big enough to cope with the volume of people visiting.

Had to wait over an hour for our food, the waitress was lovely , the food was ok, but over priced , 2 choices were off the menu , for a Saturday afternoon seemed a bit much , not likely to go back .

Went out with colleagues near Xmas, fully packed during lunch time. Parking can be nightmare during peak times so plan ahead.

Tanya was very good. Her attention was excellent. The food was delicious and on time. Great place to eat.

If you like cold food this is the place for you. Cold mash, cold red cabbage and a steak and ale pie which needed an SDS drill to get into. Gravy was nice. The chicken on the skewer was tough had a quaint taste which was worrying. Desert was cold custard and cold sticky toffee pudding. Elton mesh was a plate full of cream one scoop of ice cream and you needed a map to find the meringue. Strawberries were nice, I have had better food in hospital which says a lot. Obviously not enough kitchen staff to cope with the amount of customers . Waitress was their best attribute. We were given a discount but would rather have had an edible meal. You have been warned.!

My wife and I decided to visit here for a meal as we had a rare evening to ourselves. We booked in advance, but got there 39 minutes early and was able to be shown to our table straight away. We had the crab spring rolls for starter which was delicious. For mains My wife had the lamb cassoulet and I had the Wild boar raviolon. Both dishes were considerable portions and very tasty. With the mains devoured we chose the Raspberry jam & coconut steamed sponge pudding and Double Stout sticky toffee pudding for deserts. Couldn't fault the service or the food

Waiting was horrendous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😫 The food was ok but the waiting let me down My kids were extremely bored and a tomato salad came last!!!!!!!!

Came with a party of eight and didn’t want to embarrass anyone in our party on the night ,as we did not book the venue. Main course: Roast Beef, meat was tough and full of fat, meal lukewarm and dish of vegetables came out some 5 minutes after the meal. Meat inedible! Second meal- vegetable tagine; very disappointing, tasteless, dish not as described on menu- certainly no pomegranate seeds, but loads of cold dried apricots laid on a bed of warm mushy vegetables that I couldn’t decipher what vegetables were included. Very very disappointed! Puddings; stick toffee pudding came out cold, staff reheated in a microwave which when returned was boiling hot to the point butterscotch sauce had burnt. Second pudding- mango sorbet- several of our party complained at half a scoop of sorbet in a glass dish being served as our dessert. Waitress added more after we vocalised our displeasure. Not impressed at all and certainly would never return

Terrible food ! Such a shame that this place is so expensive and the food is terrible because the pub and vibe is great. Ordered x2 starters both from frozen and x2 drinks and spent £40.

Over priced food and drinks, save your money. Ok just to stop off for a drink atmosphere good just don’t eat there.

All ways a great venue with great food and service. On our last visit we had the beef roast which is delicious and served promptly. The fish and chips was also spot on. We will definitely be going back. I'd like to add more to this review but really it's suffice to say the horse and groom give the standard that every eatery should aspire to.

A very busy place to visit on a Sunday lunch time but nevertheless, service with a smile! We did have to wait a little longer than I would have hoped but it was well worth it. A lovely vegan roast dinner!

Disappointing. Have been here before and had a lovely meal, but very different today. Very slow service. I think perhaps accept fewer bookings if the restaurant cannot manage? Other customers in the restaurant also unhappy. Food not as described on the menu. For the price I expected better. Inattentive service, for example had to ask for cutlery for the puddings, then we were given a mixture of soup spoons and tea spoons. Custard tasted like ambrosia or similar rather than being homemade. Staff were apologetic, but we attended for a special family occasion and I felt embarrassed that I had recommended the place. It felt a bit like Fawlty towers at moments.

Nice place. Lots of outdoor seating. Slow service. I ordered the lamb for £17.5 and it had 3 small cubes of lamb in the stew so it was really disappointing. The crumble was also disappointing unfortunately. Wouldnt go back.

Garden shut at 9 on warmest day of the year. Badly need to sort out the route into the garden. Walk through the pub to the massive open doors to find its blocked. Literally walk back to the carpark and round the outside. That's a dreadful layout. Unless you know, everyone does it

The service was first class from the restaurant staff. Bar lady....proper grumpy.

Service was very slow. When our food finally came out we were given a child's fish and chips instead of an adult fish finder sandwich. The mistake is fair enough, but when we highlighted this they brought back exactly the same meal but with two slices of cheap white bread! We didn't have time to take this further as we had waited so long for the food. We sat in the garden which is now looking a bit tatty. Food overpriced for what it is. All that being said, one out of the 4 meals was pretty decent - the rest well below average pub food and way above average pub food price

The staff were friendly but this didn't help with the food. The food was so below average as well as being massively over priced its just not worth the visit there's not much else to say.

Been coming for years. The sun has come out and looking forward to a nice pant of Spitfire lager in the garden. The burger tasted burnt and the extra bits were indiscernible. The chicken ceaser salad was a lettuce and chicken. The garden tables needed clearing and cleaning from earlier guests. They did act when asked 🤷🏻. You need to keep your eye on the ball.

Things have gone down hill in the last few months. It used to be amazing but lately in the past few months the service has been painfully slow. The young chaps behind the bar seem a bit clueless and I think need extra training or extra staff. The wait for food ran to well over 30min for a simple roast and pizza. Food was okay but quite surprised at the rock hard Yorkshire pudding and the beef was overcooked and tough. Think the kitchen / menu needs a rethink. This place used to be the best in the village but I'd be surprised if it lasts another year at this pace. Management really needs to fix their processes and improve the service.

Great atmosphere and staff but terrible sunday roast. The beef sunday roast had completely overdone trimmings and the beef itself was below average.

I came for lunch today for the first time. I was very disappointed. I ordered a club sandwich with chips. It took about 20 mins to arrive. Which was fine. When it arrived the chips was freezing cold. The sandwich was on saver bread as very thin. There was one chunk of chicken in each quarter, the ends of the tomato in 2 quarters and a lettuce leaf in each bit. No bacon. 2 bits of toast at the end with a small slice of avocado. Around all the edges there was no filling so it was just eating bread. When I told the waitress the chips are cold she took the plate away with the sandwich and came back with fresh chips 5 mins later. It is the worst sandwich I have ever had. This is also my first complaint I have ever made and I felt so strongly about it I had to post.

Unbelievable terrible Sunday service. My partner lives on this road & we used to be here a lot….the vibe was great & trendy … last summer was packed …this summer poor turn out …management needs to sort it out, teach the staff about customer service, a good old smile & being friendly. NO FOOD to eat from 6pm on Sundays you can’t even get bar snacks ! Not writing this review to bring the pub down, but this was a great family pub, & now it’s being ruined, come on managers get it back as it was, we would all like to see this pub back up to its old standard again as it once was ….. packed with people and really good food not what it has become! We left & ordered an Indian at home because we couldn’t get food. Message to the people running this once great family pub ……bring back the life & vibrant atmosphere. Sort this out so we can carry on enjoying this amazing place !

This pub last summer was packed on every single sunny day, however now you can see on my picture is empty! Reason is the management is unprofessional and doesn’t know how to run a pub, no food to eat at all at 8:00pm on a sunny day, no much choice on Sundays you can’t even get a burger and the new menu is disgusting and pure McDonald’s can do better previous menus was delicious ! Not writing this review to patronise but would like to see this pub again as it ones was packed with people and really good food not what it has become! We normally come as family and our bills were always not less than £400-£500 today bills is £40 because we can’t even get food and decided to go to a different place Please this is a message to The owners sort this out so we can carry on enjoying this amazing place ! I’m sure you can see your revenue is down ! Service is great all the young boys and girls are very friendly and amazing love them Problem here is who ever is running this pub

Visited here several times as it’s local and in a nice area. Food is always hit and miss and very slow service! However, visited today and it was the most terrible it’s ever been. As usual, it took about 1 hour before the food arrived despite the place being practically empty (this is always the case here sadly!), there’s hardly any staff and we always have to walk and find someone to ask for the bill or check when our food will be out. The food was particularly bad tonight - burger was burnt and rock hard. I’ve also had a hair in coleslaw, they gave a replacement and it had another hair! Such a shame. I hope the owner listens to the advise of the bad reviews and makes a change 1) quicker service 2) better chefs 3) more staff 4) more organisation! It’s also not cheap, so you’d expect better, average main meal is £16-19. The staff are nice though, and the pub itself is nice. But unless something changes, I do not recommend and won’t be visiting again.

Half the menu was unavailable, dismissive and unapologetic service. Food was good when it arrived after one hour. Erratic and disorganised.

The food is not worth it. Almost no veggie options. All orders come at different times. One person was left without a meal and all group had to wait for an extra 30minutes. They haven't offered any discount

Went for Sunday roast, we waited 30 minutes to get our food. 3 plates of roast (2 beef & 1 pork) The plates arrived with cold meat, 2 roast potatoes, a small batch of green beans. We asked if there was any more vegetables and we were told no. We asked for the sauce (which are mentioned on the menu with the dish), but they ran out of apple sauce and horseradish sauce. This is the most horrible £19 plate of food I have had, overcooked, dry, cold beef, raw parsnip, 2 roast potatoes and hard green beans. We discovered later on that there is actually vegetables on the side which we were not given, despite asking. DO NOT EAT THERE, TERRIBLE FOOD. I am going to cook myself lunch now as I just spent £54 but actually had no food!

Food not too special, could improve!

Now I know the place not to go to for dinner... No fish fingers for kids?? We had a birthday party of 14 people and no-one was happy with their starter or main...

We have used the restaurant frequently as we live close by. The service and standard of cooking has deteriated and is shameful!. The change of menu is poor and is limited if you want three courses. Please sort out your chef / chefs! Ask yourself why Thursday nights the restaurant is more than half empty????? Read the negative reviews and take some action to address the issues. You have just lost another customer and future reccomendations.

Food was okay, was told this was a new menu launching today. Burger and chips didn’t taste great but garlic break was nice. Nice chilled atmosphere and quiet at the time we went. I would advise going into the restaurant instead if the bar

Save your money. We had the Sunday roast - the best part was the sugar snap peas. £21 for a roast which had over cooked potatoes , a tiny slice of each meat and a ‘Yorkshire pudding’ that was solid and was like biting into a shell. Absolute waste of money , get a carvery instead.

This is a friendly pub which caters well for families. A good range of beers, wines and spirits are on offer and the car park is of a reasonable size. The food served is very good and a vast improvement from what was offered several years ago. Last time I popped in I just had a quiet pint and it was easy to sit away from the families that were dining there.

I visit this pub regularly mostly for evening meals and the meals have been good with good service however l visited with a group of 6 at lunchtime. We all felt that the selection of sandwiches was poor as no choice of ham or cheese l asked if they could make me a ham one as they had ham eggs with chips on the menu the lady behind the bar was abrupt and refused. When l commented that they had ham on the main menu, couldn’t they use that ham, she said they can’t deviate from the menu. Another issue was that all the sandwiches were in white bread when we asked if we could have brown bread the immediate answer was no and then when my friend commented that prawn sandwiches were usually on brown bread the lady said she would ask the chef and brown bread was used just for her sandwich but not the others who had sandwiches. Also there seemed to have a difference in price of about a pound for a lime and soda and a blackcurrant and soda. These small differences like having a choice of bread and having more than 3 choices of sandwiches would improve the lunchtime experience as currently there are only fish/meat options and no basic options of ham or cheese.

Lovely pub with plenty of seating and a nice selection of beers. Would have ordered food but couldn't find a menu in the bar area. Nice that it's dog friendly but not when the dogs aren't friendly to each other, could barely hear myself think with the snarling and growling

Not a bad restaurant for the food and service. Only downside was the music did not fit with the decor/style of the place (imagine 90's pub music).

We had dinner here this evening. Every member of staff was so warm and friendly and kind. We felt welcome. My elderly neighbour thought she had booked a table, but they couldn't find the booking and she couldn't remember clearly, but they didn't make a fuss and although they were very busy, found a table for us so that she didn't feel embarrassed. The food was lovely. I loved the espresso creme brulee. Thank you for accommodating us. See you again soon.

Very slow service we waited 60 mins for our main course, 2 of the 3 meals ordered were ok but for my sausages and mash the sausages were pretty inedible they were chewy and tasteless and the gravy was much too salty. The staff were efficient and pleasant enough but the kitchen needs to be more efficient

We were told by the staff they were serving until 11pm. Arrived at 10:30pm at the expense of a taxi and were told they had stopped serving. Do not trust the staff as they have no idea! The manager, Sarah was unapologetic.
