Absolutely brilliant restaurant. Food is impeccable, service friendly and efficient. Can not fault it at all.

Unique and delicious. Enjoyed the open fire and smell of smoke. Food was fantastic. Would return!

I went with a friend to celebrate her birthday, so good to see somewhere buzzing mid-week! We’d heard great things about the food so asked the staff to pick our dishes for us. It was incredible! Every dish was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the setting lovely. Brilliant, brilliant place and team.

A wonderful evening with perfect food and wine. We brought visitors from London and they were very impressed. The Malvo dessert will live long in their memories! Thank you for looking after us and always being so efficient and welcoming.

Such a beautiful meal, with perfect service and a lovely atmosphere

Visited with my niece to celebrate completion of her masters. She loved the sweet soft bread and I loved the flat bread with carrot molasses. The sea bream was perfect and I don’t know what they do to make the aubergine taste so good. Another fabulous meal.

Had a meal at The Orange Bird yesterday evening. My first time. My wife's second. Just perfect. Service was so good. Small dishes were so tasty and my pork main was tender. Couldn't fault a single thing. Looking forward to another meal there asap. I would highly recommended this place for anyone, and everyone, to share in a perfect evening out.

Blown away with the food. I went for the veggie aubergine: it was unexpected in texture, full of flavour and super filling ! Can't wait to visit again and save a bit of space for the puddings ! For veggies: run don't walk !

I absolutely loved visiting this restaurant. The vibe was ace! The food was incredible!!!!!!! The staff were fab. I’m gluten free and I could eat anything apart from the bread which was amazing. Would deffo recommend!!!?

This is my favourite restaurant in Sheffield, which is why I now choose here for any special occasions & take people here when they come to visit me. I’ve never had a dish that hasn’t been super tasty. This occasion was for my Birthday & so I saved room for dessert which did not disappoint. The service by Anne and the team was super friendly and helpful as always. I’ll continue to recommend this place to everyone who asks me about where to eat in Sheffield :)

Not just a meal, but an out of this world experience! The Orange Bird is an outstanding restaurant in the heart of Hillsborough. Serving up unique flavours, every bite better than the last. I've visited it a couple of times now with a friend and can't wait to come back again. The bread starters are melt-in-your-mouth incredible. Peri-peri chicken is cooked to perfection and the miso malva pudding is a showstopper. I have never tried anything like it! Service is friendly and efficient and I really like how stylish the restaurant looks. Very chilled playlist in the background too. The Orange Bird is a must go.

Excellent everything - friendliness, speed of service, food quality, atmosphere. I cannot wait to go back. Best meal out in Sheffield, by a very, very long way. Every dish we ate was absolutely exquisite, but the malva pudding with the stout ice cream was outstanding. The orange wine was also a real find. Too often somewhere you've been recommended and have been waiting to try can disappoint, but this place surpassed expectations which were already high.

The best restaurant in Sheffield! Anne and Matt are just the loveliest people and work so hard to provide excellent service and truly delicious food. Highly recommended to everyone, but make sure you book as it’s a small space and usually fully booked 🧡

I had a reservation booked on there booking system for myself and my parents. When we got there the owner said she had no record of it, and was laughing whilst refusing to accommodate us.

What a fantastic place to enjoy great food and good company! Finally understand the hype about the peppermint crisp tart! I see the posts on insta every week, and last night got to devour a piece and would have happily had the whole tin! We also enjoyed the hummus, steak, cauliflower, greens and rice. All which were delicious and different tastes to any other food we’d had before. Really good sized portions and lovely atmosphere to unwind after a working week. Thank you!

Updated this as it THE best food you can get in Hillsborough. Still the most exciting addition to the Hillsborough shops. The cooking is never not perfect, the flavours are always amazing. Still love it!

We absolutely adore this place. Daughter’s 19th birthday and 23 year old son joined us. An absolute pleasure to sample their menu -Piri pirii chicken, South African veg and chick peas, jallof rice, butternut squash ah hummus and 2 types of bread - sensational ❤️❤️❤️

Myself, hubby and two friends visited the Orange Bird for the first time to celebrate a special birthday as it had been recommended. The food was delicious - we shared the flat iron steak and piri piri chicken x 2 with a selection of the 3 sides - all superb. We then shared the two sweets on offer so we all got a taste of everything! So pleased we chose this establishment for the special celebration and will definitely be back!

We recently had a meal at The Orange Bird in Hillsborough while we were staying in Sheffield with family. We'd heard great things about the place and have to say, the food was absolutely delicious and the service and atmosphere were great too. We'll definitely be back before long.

Trying out the new summer menu and it did not disappoint! Superb steak, tasty venison boerwors, excellent coal roasted leeks, washed down with a bottle of good red. And, of course, old favourites; curry butter chips, malva pudding and peppermint crisp tart, would have been rude not to! We will be back again soon.

My third time at the OB and once again it didn’t disappoint. Even though we commit the ultimatum in a chef’s eyes and asked for our steak to be cooked medium/well, he cooked it to perfection and it melted in the mouth. This gem of a restaurant is a jewel in, not only Hillsborough, but Sheffield as a whole. Go and see for yourself ☺️

The food is excellent, every dish was impeccable and the stout pudding really is as good as people say! t’s a lovely little restaurant where all the staff are friendly, it’s really nicely decorated, the tableware is cute and the music was just right. Another fabulous meal at Orange Bird. We ordered nearly everything on the menu to share and it was such a flavoursome feast! Atmosphere was cool, chilled, no rushing. Small place with limited number of tables - food was excellent Service was good and it is reasonably priced. Parking around the restaurant can be challenging. Will certainly visit when they change the menu.

Lovely friendly staff. The Peppermintcrisp tart was a delight and reminded us of being back in South Africa. The wine selection also diverse and Mossbolletjies beautiful.

Been wanting to book a table here for ages and I’m so glad we finally tried it! We had the whole mackerel, flat iron steak, jollof rice, curry butter fries, miso malva pudding, and peppermint crisp tart. Everything was incredible and we can’t wait to come back again. All the staff were wonderful too and made us feel very comfortable.

This was our first time at the Orange Bird. The food was really delicious and managed to surprise and delight. The service was attentive and relaxed. The only little thing was the noise level/acoustics which made it difficult to hear everyone on our table.

Nice place but a little underwhelming. Was expecting a South African bria to be more about charcoal grilled food that was full of flavour and more generous. Puddings were good.

Went for the first time earlier this week, and absolutely loved it. Very pleased a restaurant like this is open in Hillsborough! Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again. The masala flatbread was incredible, and loved the curry butter fries. I couldn't fault anything.

For me, just a perfect restaurant. From the moment we arrived to a cosy, busy room filled with amazing smells and smiling customers I knew this would be worth the long trip from S8. We were made to feel very welcome by a naturally hospitable front of house gang and were looked after the whole time without being crowded. The menu is an adventure, especially for someone who's never been to SA. I loved the glossary of words to explain the dishes on the back of the menu. It's great if you like sharing, as you can experience a range of dishes. And I'm not normally a dessert person,but the Miso Pudding with stout icecream and sauce,was amazing! The food was unlike anything I've had before, somehow blending BBQ grilled smokiness with almost curry-esque spices and sauces. A great choice of quality drinks,including Sheffield's own Abbeydale beer, which went really well with the spicy,smoky food. We'll deffo be back, even tempted to move over to the dark side. Just a lovely creation, oozing with love, passion and talent. Hat's off guys, and thanks!

Great service. Lovely intimate atmosphere. Somehow felt like I was on holiday, rather than in the centre of Hillsborough The food was delicious, some great flavours!! Definitely for those who prefer quality rather than quantity ( I’ll be selective with who I recommend it to)

This has to be the best restaurant in Hillsborough. We got lucky and happened to walk by mid day on a Saturday and it was open and had a table available. I've tried to book many times before and it's always fully booked (which given how good this place is, makes perfect sense). We got flatbread with hummus as a starter and braai pork and crispy aubergine for our mains. It was simply some of the best food I think we've ever had in Hillsborough. I hope to be back soon. Definitely book ahead and be patient, it's well worth the wait.

Went there for a date night with my partner. We both had a starter, a main and a side with a spritz. The food was great and perfectly garnished! Loved the atmosphere and the music. Wasn't loud, but worked so well with the decor. The service was also great! Friendly and made sure everything was okay. We'll definitely go back!

The flavours in the food were so tasty , not supposed to mention it as my husband hates aubergine but he devoured the whole dish , staff are great , friendly and informative .
