Great pub, what a great landlord, he is the best landlord, if it wasn't for this landlord I don't know where I'd be today, this landlord is HIM

What an absolute pearl of a pub! We were camping locally and the open ditch was within walking distance. Firstly, great choice of guest ales (very reasonably priced), polite and friendly staff. The chef had thrown a sticky but the team rustled up four of the the best steaks ever and prices to die for. Jump in the car and support these guys, you won't be disappointed.

“The Ditch” is that increasingly rare find, a proper village pub ! After a drive down pretty country lanes we came across this lovingly restored, olde worlde pub sitting on the edge of a quintessential village green. The welcome was very warm, and the food properly home made and very delicious. The menu has no airs and graces, is just good honest pub grub, which arrives piping hot, in mighty generous portions, beautifully cooked and is fantastic value as well. What more can you possibly want?! The quality of the ingredients stands out, which admirably are sourced locally as far as possible. The term “hidden gem” is bandied around a lot these days, but The Open Ditch is truly such a place - and it kicks all those interchangeable chain premises in to a cocked hat ! The lovely people who have restored and reopened this fab pub deserve every success.

We are the closet house to the pub and we love it. An amazing transformation from a run down derelict looking building to a thriving village local. Last night we popped in hoping for some of their lovely food but didn’t realise they stopped serving at 7. We particularly wanted food there that night as we had been knocking a wall through in our house and there was dust everywhere. Sophie and a gentleman behind the bar went out of their way to make us some food after the chef had gone home and juggle serving the customers behind the bar. We were so grateful for this as we really didn’t want to cook at home. Cannot thank them enough. All the staff here are brilliant. Dan and Beth are also an asset to this pub.

Popped over early evening on a Saturday for some food. Warm welcome, really nice décor, and relaxed atmosphere. Menu is traditional pub grub and we had the pie & chips and ribs (the chef came out and recommended the ribs - he wasn’t wrong). The pie was really meaty (big chunks of steak), lovely buttery pastry and tasty jus, and you had choice of mash or chips. The ribs came with fries, corn on the cob and coleslaw - very tasty and a challenge to finish. Dog friendly, large beer garden and looking forward to returning soon.

This pub is a great new asset in our locality. The transformation of an old pub is excellent. The service and drink options were really good. We popped in for a lunchtime snack on the recommendation of friends and reinforced by the chalkboard boasting best ingredients from well respected local suppliers. Our sausage and chips had good chips, a decent salad BUT the sausages were not as expected. Our local butcher would not like to be associated with the very disappointing low meat content items. Pity. We were told they were from Bookers. We will return but we'll ask questions before ordering next time.

A newly re-opened and much-needed traditional pub where everything is new. The new owners have put a great deal of thought and care into creating a pub/hub for the community and a friendly stop for visitors. Only a month old, the Open Ditch has a great selection of drinks including the best pair of beers from the Wye Valley Brewery (and well kept too) plus several popular ciders, served up by cheery staff. Plus they are at Worcestershire, not London prices. It's clear the emphasis on food is value too, and here after sampling some of the menu, I only have a couple of quibbles that are easy to address. The half chicken and chips, so far, is the star of the menu - simply roasted and presented, with a big enough bird to send me home with a doggy bag. Considering the popularity of several brands of upmarket burger joints in H&W, I feel the kitchen may have missed a trick by going for quick and easy prep on one item. The pub has been a great success, so catering short order items for the numbers that have arrived is a tall order indeed. I'd pay a couple pounds more for a burger (still made with 100% beef with high fat content to keep it juicy) that was hand shaped. It need not be "smashed" - I prefer to add my own condiments - nor does it need to be flame grilled. And in a hamburger bun - brioche possibly, but definitely one made for the job that will stand up to the task at hand. Good heavens, I can taste it now. Having made over 50,000 by myself one summer back in the day, I hope that tip is a deal maker. As for parking - I do hope the back garden can be opened up. Well done folks and I look forward to trying the rest of menu.

Recently stayed at the Cotford hotel and the experience was so good we decided we must go back for dinner again. Once again the service and the food was absolutely impeccable, you can not fault this restaurant. So much attention to detail, amazing flavours and the service is so welcoming. Stopped off at Tenbury Wells to break our journey to North Wales from Bristol. So glad we chose The Kings Head for lunch. Received a warm welcome & excellent service from Lee and fabulous food ~ we chose from the Thai & English menu and neither of us disappointed. Lee made us so welcome, we enjoyed chatting to him. He also knows how to look after his beer as husband received the perfect pint of real ale. If you are looking for good food, great service, relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful building l recommend you visit The Kings Head. We definitely intend to return.
