The Olympia in Blaenau Gwent

As with other spoons ive visited,the food is awful.its dry and warmed up.ok its cheap but not tasty.i refused it.i ate 1 chip and gave it back.the waitress didnt offer a replacement or if i wanted to see a manager.so i finished my drink and left.i wont be going back.avoid it if possible.

It's what you would expect for a Wetherspoons. Sadly the food was cold and not very exciting. Staff were fine. Didn't really see many staff members as you can order from the table with a QR code.

Weekend breakfast with my family.. nice place.. seems cleaner and less crowded than other Spoons venues. I had the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup.. 😁

Had a fantastic meal with the grand children. Staff were extremely friendly and excellent with the boys. Highly recommend this place.

Beer SA terrible. Steak over cooked could tap your shoes with it. No peas no garnish. Wish I'd had a sandwich at home. Don't have a Steak. Bloody awful 😖

Nice Wetherspoons in an old cinema building.

Very disappointed my steak and 8 chips was not very nice the steak was like rubber my wife had pasta Alfredo it was so stodgy she could not eat it. It will be our last time.

Visited this establishment on the 30/12/2023 for breakfast with the. Family all I can say what a diabolical breakfast for the price ,rationing went out in the war ,the amount of beans in the bowl was unbelievable,1 scoop I asked for a bigger portion and the boy serving returned with a similar portion as first, on my plate was 1 slice of bread , something that resembled scrambled egg ,1 scabby piece of bacon well cooked ,burnt offering I asked for the manager who never appeared so I just asked for my money back ,let's just say I won't be returning to this establishment for breakfast in the future there are far better establishments in the town who do a much better value breakfast i left with no food utterly disgusting experience.The photos on the menu are edited as it. Looks like nothing what you get on your plate .I would definitely recommend going to other cafes in the town .There is a much better cafe a bit further up with the near enough same price breakfast but you get way more and better quality food .

What can I say? It's a witherspoon. The staff are brilliant. but the atmosphere it's basically mcdonald's of the pub world.

Took residents from work for a meal to Tredegar. Staff were brilliant Ruth and Zac went above and beyond.

Normal spoons occasionally ales the half chicken was always my favourite curries are good too avoid lasagne or things probably frozen as was still cold in middle when served

Usually the food is really nice here, was very disappointed with our last visit, the table was not cleared until we were ready to place our order and then it was not wiped down not happy at all. Needs to work on staff customer service also.

Great whetherspoons lovely Cosy atmosphere , staff are fantastic and really friendly and polite and helpful spotlessly clean toilets and my kids said the hot chocolate is banging lol , highly recommended 😀

Lots of tables reserved, but no one sitting on them. Couldn't find anywhere for our party of 8 to sit and have food, so we left and went across the road to the Tredegar Arms.

Cold food had to be returned, only a handful of people waiting by bar,one young lad serving drinks took 15 minutes to get a pint, other staff in background just chatting away to each other , felt sorry for the boy serving drinks absolutely no urgency at all with the staff there some of the staff taking the food to the tables look like they could fall asleep standing up

Ordered egg Benedict & sides, eggs were cold & over done, black pudding was like a hockey puck, food was sent back twice. Very poor food quality.

Called in for lunch .. food came to the table in around 10 mins . Boneless chicken.. usually good , however the chicken turned out to be " Luke warm " at best .. some of the chips were undercooked ( almost raw) shame , nice pub. Not exactly " fancy " food .. least you'd expect is for it to be hot when it arrives? 🙈👎

In need of a breakfast on our way up to Snowdonia we stopped off. As with so many Witherspoon pubs it is in a beautiful building. The staff were friendly and my American breakfast was delicious

Food is brought in under ten minutes. Tables are always sticky and cutlery always dirty. You never feel valued here. If you want to be invisible then it's perfect here but if you'd like to be noticed as the perfect paying customer you are you'll probably feel hard done by. Sadly food is never ever freshly cooked. Shame

Just had breakfast, disgusting staff couldn't be bothered, mixed up order some cold fried egg bacon you could tap your shoes with. Shame on whoever thinks that's acceptable to serve as food . That's the last.

This place is like the black hole of Calcutta, probably due to that flea on an ameoba T. Martin not playing the electric bill. We order two of their 'Gormet sirloin steak from English and Irish farms' ha ha! What came was a disgusting piece of thin Hal hal meat from Jerkwater Farm in some Factory in some dive in God knows where. It had six chips, a poxy tomato/mushroom and all freezing cold! It was sent back immediately as it tasted disgusting! Three staff members were arguing over the so called meal! There was about 12 people in there on Saturday lunchtime, and now I know why! Since Covid Martin has closed many of his excuses for restaurants; do yourself a favour and close this dump. Cheap rubbish meals for normal restaurant prices nearly £30 for two dog meat steaks cooked by people pretending to be Chefs who need a receipie to make toast. Do yourself a favour and avoid this pit at all cost!

Excellent lunch today at The Olympia. Served at the bar by the deputy manager who was great. Food was fab, best fish I've had in ages. Service was quick and staff were marvellous. 12/10, will be back soon, thank you

Steak unfortunately tough and overcooked, jacket potato very dry indeed, tomato undercooked. Not enough condiments on table and upon asking for a basic condiment, I was told I had to go and find it myself from another table wherever I could, and if I couldn't find it then they've run out! Hopefully this was a one off but will definitely go again and increase my rating if they redeem themselves as they have a great selection of beverages and nice atmosphere, such a shame the food let them down on this occasion. Now they have a quiz night on a Wednesday evening with music (which I thought was not allowed in Wetherspoons), which brings down the atmosphere of dining out and takes up all the tables. Probably won't visit again.

went there with my boyfriend and his special needs dog and they were very welcoming we met the head chef and he was such a doll, food was to die for we had a wonderful mix grill the staff was lovely will recommend please come ❤️

Used to be ok .. today left with unfinished drinks. Thatchers cider sour and Merlot tainted..our food was disappointing too lasagne. Hot one end cold the other. And missus fish and chips..the fish was so small Nemo wouldn't find it

Great drink deals…but underwhelming food and be careful how you order! So busy on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Make sure you take the menu with you when you order or you ll end up being overcharged! No apology or real customer service. I ll go elsewhere next time for food.

The food is covered in fat. The pop is Water down The men staff is right ignorant and arrogant. The paint is coming off the walls by the ceiling And the wood around the top of the roof is coming down as well. Sort it out or trading standards will be out.

We had drinks only on a Sunday afternoon. It was lovely to watch the Wimbledon men's final. Lovely atmosphere in the pub.

It's basically like one big hall. Very spacious. Although, there is an echo and nothing in the way to block sound, so you hear everyone's conversation. If there is a rowdy table, you are hearing it, although that actually might add to the atmosphere of a pub, for some. Everyone was nice, but if you get some 'lad(s)' there, I think it will ruin it Food was what I expected from Spoons and the staff were friendly. There were reserved tables, though, and quite a lot of them. You are forced into the center away from the best seats. I don't think I've ever seen reserved seats in Spoons before, but there are a lot of them here A free carpark is nearby, to stay for 24 hours. Quite a nice looking building and area, too

Breakfast and dessert are very average, but easy to sort out hungry stomach with affordable price. Toilet is clean. Comfy spacious room.

One of the best Wetherspoons I've visited. Food has gone down-hill a bit since lockdown, portions much smaller and quality of some dishes not so good. However, I imagine this is the case with all branches. Staff are lovely, friendly, helpful and professional.

Very disappointing with staff who almost wanted to have a good argument rather than trying to appease us. Lasagne was still frozen, so they just took it away and scalded it in the microwave and handed me the hottest part of the plate with no napkin. I burnt the tips of my fingers and the waitress just laughed. I asked for her name and she said “what for? No I’m not telling you” and walked off. Manager then can up to our table (39) and rudely interrupted the conversation we were having as a family and said “have you got an issue with one of my staff members?!” I honestly couldn’t believe it! The desserts came out in very dirty bowls, they took them back and presented them back with just a swirl of ice cream and not a whole scoop like they used to serve. No chocolate sauce available so we asked for ice cream instead and again was given a scrapping of ice cream. The food took a long time to arrive from the starters, then the mains and then the desserts. Such a shame as we have been coming here for years since 2003 when my parents moved to Tredegar. I’m sorry to say though that this place has slowly been going down hill for years really. Even more of a shame as my father has been very poorly lately and it was his first outing in 18 months. He was so proud and dressed up in his best suit for the occasion. I can provide the names of the staff and more detail if you would like to contact me directly or privately. I’m not into publicly shaming individuals no matter how bad they were today. I hope the camera and sound recording devices your staff wear we’re working today so you can review the attitude of your staff. Some serious training needed here as they just don’t care whatsoever. Good points were the curry was good and the popadoms were better after I sent them back as they were like bitting a napkin. They came back crunchy as they should be.

I had a halloumi burger with chips. The bun was small and cheap, buts what you get at weatherspoons though, isn’t it? Hardly any salad in it, and it looked like it was done in a rush. The chips were alright though. I have found that the food is very hit and miss here, and overdone items will be sent out in the hope that we’ll just get with it. If we complain the attitude of some staff is a great big can’t be arsed, and that’s the consistent problem with this venue. They get away with it, and so will not up their game. We’re not asking for the Earth. Just some professionalism and a bit of effort. If you mess something up, don’t send it out. And if there’s a complaint, look a bit sorry and try to fix it the best way that you can. Not the easiest, cheapest way. Very poor.

Had a steak last night which was good but my onion rings were missing and I had the tiniest mushroom grilled to death, asked the guy who brought our meals about the onion rings and he shrugged said out of stock and just walked off. Went to the bar to ask why I’d been charged for them if there aren’t any and again I got a shrug and was told I could have extra mushroom instead which I agreed to as by now the rest of the meal was getting cold. The guy brought me a bowl with raw mushroom slices in it! My partner went back to the bar with these, by the time I got cooked mushrooms I’d finished my meal and there was no way I was going to eat them for fear of them having been spat on or worse.!Staff take no pride and seem like just being there is a massive inconvenience to them. To be fair I have had some nice meals here but there’s always some issue or another, usually items missing from the meal. Come on guys put a bit of effort in, it’s not difficult I’m not expecting Michelin stars it’d just be nice to have a basic meal without having to go back to the bar for something every time!

Helpful and polite staff appearing very busy keeping tables clean. Big screen TV. Very good atmosphere during visit and customers relaxed and pleasant. Establishment very clean and good food available.

Went out for lunch on a Sunday, there was 9 of us and staff was accommodating and arranged tables for us. We ordered food from the app, it came quickly and was lovely. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Curry club Naga chicken Vindaloo :- Cold greasy nan bread watery but tasty but neither hot nor hot Popadoms so bendy you could fold them up ! Nothing bad about it except the way it was delivered .

It's a spoons! Yeah OK for a pint or two but probably the worst for food. Had breakfast that was cold and had group members who ate in the evening and had same problem. On a plus Wednesday night quiz night is popular

I've never had a bad meal in here, food is always piping hot when it's bought out and full of flavour. Reasonably priced and great for a meal out with young children.

We've used 15 Weather spoons while touring. Good for cheap meal at a reasonable price. Used Olimpia twice and will be back in the future. I left one star off because of cleanliness. (All of weather spoons.)

Just visited for lunch, had to ask had we been forgotten as other people after us were served, food was brought food straight away after my comments however the plates were freezing cold and so was the food, food cannot be served on COLD plates. The manager came out and apologised and asked if I wanted another meal, I declined as we had waited ages for the meal in the first place. I had a refund for my meal however I had come out to eat and had to leave my meal as I hate cold food so left hungry. Won't be going here again.

Worst meal we have had here. Food was cold, not sure how you can serve hot food on freezing cold plates. None of the food was even warm. Waited ages for food so even stranger why it was cold...refund given

Was very busy due to it being a Friday night, so did have trouble finding a table but then we looked around and did find a table after but we wasn't waiting for a table. Just had to look, ordered are food and drinks of the app and they come quit quickly.

I ordered a BBQ chicken burger with chips, the chicken was cold not even hot enough to melt the cheese and the chips were hard,oily and burnt. If I hadn't waited so long for the food to arrive and needed to be somewhere I would have sent it back. The boy waiting tables cleared my husband's plate away while I was still eating the rubbish I had been served, this just isn't done. (Needs training). When leaving I noticed lots of people had left the burnt chips on their plates so it wasn't a one off.

Went in for steak night as was stopping over for work. Tryed to Order side of garlic bread but was told out of stock so ordered coleslaw instead. When meal came no coleslaw, asked why to be told out of stock. Why didn't you say before I'd paid ? Also no peas or grilled tomato with the steak as advertised, when question the waitress offered salad or extra peas. I'm glad I was not paying as I could claim on work expenses but very poor service. I think they thought I wouldn't question where the extras were even though I was charged for them.

I went here (after being let down by Brewers Fayre) not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Food was good, service was swift, all staff friendly and helpful and of course being a Weatherspoons it was cheap as chips.

Always missing something - oat milk, steaks, hot chocolate, espresso.... Recently waiting for mugs for over 20 minutes. Tables dirty and the Staff would not bother.

Disgusting food, everything was either burnt or undercooked and now my girlfriend has food poisoning, I throught blackwoods was bad but this was just horrible.

We thought we'll pop out for a new drinks, then decided to have some food at the same time. The food isn't the hottest it's usually just warm. And for the prices for a pub chain it doesn't represent the little amount of food, the chips are a very small size on a regular basis (child size) and we found that the jacket potatoes are never hot. There is no passion that goes into their work.

Ordered food on the app but lots of things on the menu had sold out. Also some alcoholic drinks had sold out!
