My favourite place to go for a meal.

A super nice food and great service.

We went on Easter Sunday at noon, we ate the Sunday roast lamb, and mushroom stroganoff, excellent flavor, presentation and abundant portions. Matching prices. The attention of the staff was very friendly.

Fantastic service and great value food.

Lovely spot to stop at after the four waterfalls, food is banging and great value and the place is ran by an owner who clearly goes the extra mile to make everyone happy.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon as a group of 10 with 2 dogs and asked if they could accommodate us to eat!! No problem was the answer!! Nothing was too much trouble, the dogs were welcomed, and the food was excellent. The service was very attentive. The whole experience was very stress-free.

Superb dining with the most friendly staff. Food is more than reasonable with pricing, given the top quality. Everything was fresh and everyone had their courses the same time without having to wait long. The gentleman was so attentive and patient. Good sense of humour with adults and children.. you could see he was one of the biggest part in making people's evenings run smoothly. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Also, the choice of music was spot on! Lovely atmosphere.

Honestly the most perfect pub I've ever been to! Me and my Husband got married Saturday just gone and we went down to Wales for a mini honey moon, we took our doggo with us and we went to do some exploring, I love waterfalls so we went on a few walks to find some and they were amazing! Anyways we went to the old white horse inn for some evening food and we took our doggo in with us, honestly the way we were greeted was just lovely, this gentleman showed us our table gave our doggy a really good fuss, the gentleman gave us menus asked us for our drink order and then asked us what food we wanted so we ordered to mixed grills which by the way were delicious! Get this though they even did a doggy menu I mean come on how cute is that!!! So we ordered our dog a steak £4 which in my eyes isn't to bad at tall! Then during our food this lovely woman come over and asked if things were okay gave our dog a treat and a lovely cold bowl of water. Everyone loved our doggo and was so so friendly it melted my heart! Not only was the food and service perfect but the atmosphere was so romantic calm and so relaxing they had the fire on it was so toasty, I couldn't ask for a better time! We will 10000% be going back to that pub! So a massive thankyou for your lovely service 🩷

This was the firsr time we had been here. Booked last minute and was delighted to be squeezed in. From the moment we walked in to the restaurant the staff were so attentive. The food was incredible. I had the boozy battered fish and it was so tasty and what really delighted me, was that there was no grease or fatty taste. Honestly so impressed def worth a visit. Many thanks

Absolutely fantastic steak! Chargrill on the steak was perfect as it had caramelised the meat. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and we will be back 1000%. Came here from Google maps and the 5 star review when passing through. A great find and I recommend this as a great country pub.

Having happily eaten at two nearby places I felt it was time to try here for a meal. Went on a Monday evening and found ample room and a nice warm real fire going.... Cosy! I had the homemade pie main dish while my friend had the three bean chilli dish. Sadly, the food was not good. 3 bean chilli was lacking in any specific taste and was watery.. It was also only warm, but certainly not hot. My home made pie was overwhelmed by a huge crust that looked like it had been cooked separately from the pie and placed on top after... Not a pie then! The meat part - now the meat chunks were fine and plenty of them considering a small bowl. They were all I could pick out of the food that I could eat. The gravy had a few chunks of carrot but otherwise rather tasteless and in my view would have been better served to our four legged friends. We were asked if we enjoyed the meal and discussed our disappointment in detail with the manageress who partly defended the dishes but acknowledged our grievance. Despite this, and leaving a fair bit of the food, we were hit with a full charge, though, when challenged, this was reduced to an acceptable amount. Our evening out was over in just an hour. A place where I could possibly revisit for drinks but sadly, not for food... I'll stick to the two other nearby places for both.

First time visit today, decided to try our luck for some food after walking to the falls. Lovely place to get food, very busy, which is a good sign. Was greeted swiftly and asked to nab a drink before seating, which seemed to speed up the process as it didn't feel like we were waiting too long. Staff were polite and attentive. Food was beautiful and filling along with fairly priced. Would definitely recommend and retun again.

Came here for a 40th birthday party and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. The lamb shank was gorgeous. Some green veg with the meal would have made it perfect but otherwise we couldn’t fault it

This pub serves Fabulous Fare. Tender Lamb shank. The Salted Caramel Panacotta was the best I've ever had. Remarkable wide range of excellent dishes enjoyed by our group.

What a wonderful experience this was there were ten of us we had booked the very friendly staff welcomed us and we ordered our meals we were served in a very short time the meals were cooked to perfection we had a starter a roast dinner and a dessert everything was super fresh and can only give five stars you must try the old white horse you will not be disappointed. We can't wait for our next visit.

We had soup of the day, one of the best soups we've ever had, mexican nachos, salt and pepper chilli chicken strips, leek sausage and mash, kids sausage meals and fudge cake and every single item we order was very nice. Wood fire in the centre of the pub too

Cozy place, good service and amazing food

Thank you for lovely dinner after the waterfall walk. We were soaked because of the waterfalls and the staff found a nice table for us and put the heating on. The food was delicious - we had tomato soups, roasted duck, grilled seabass and lamb shank and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. I would also like to give warm praises and thanks to lovely waitress Natalie who accommodated all our needs and was also funny and understood all of my dad's jokes 🙈

supper friendly, considerate and accommodating staff. Excellent menu, and the food was 5* location is slightly hidden away and would not have found if not for google Pet friendly and highlight was that they have a proper pub food menu for pets and even provided a towel for the dog! will definitely go there again when we are in Wales next time.

Went there with big group for family party food was amazing staff went above and beyond good service even to the point of coming out with cake and then they all sung happy birthday and give my cousin bottle of wine for her birthday really impressed with them and will diffo be returning with my dog next time as they are dog friendly pub to

The food tasted bad. Service was also not up to the mark. Kids couldn't finish even a slice of pizza because of bad tasting cheese.

We discovered this pub after a long drive to Glynneath, and what a pleasant surprise, it has a warm and welcome feel, dog friendly is an understatement, the staff were fantastically friendly, particularly Kelsey, Julie & Juergen. We returned the following evening for a meal and the food was the best we’ve eaten in many a year, the Beef Short Rib was sublime. I can’t praise this establishment high enough. If you’re in the area, pop in you won’t be disappointed

Absolutely lovely place, popped in on a wet Friday night. Lovely atmosphere, fire on, food was gorgeous, great selection of ales and cocktails and very dog friendly with a Doggy menu too if you fancy spoiling your pooch! Never been before but will 100% be going back!

Just had a great lunch here. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Really cosy place with the fire going. Food was really tasty, especially the chips. They even had a dog menu for the pooches.

Our second visit last night, and again, excellent. On both visits we have had different servers, both with great service, a perfect level of interaction. The food was served piping hot and perfectly prepared. It seems that nothing is too much for them. Only half an hour from home, but worth the drive. Well recommended.

Great food and service as per every visit

Came here two nights in a row. The food on the first night was better, but overall the food was very good - we were very pleasantly surprised. Staff were lovely and incredibly helpful. If you’re gluten or dairy free, talk to the staff - they had 3 desserts for gf/df ppl that weren’t on the menu and were very tasty. Would recommend and go back.

Dont be put off by the look of this pub. The staff couldn't do enough to accommodate a walking group of 10 at short notice. The food was excellent. Will choose this pub from now on over the one up the road. Thank you again.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews but in the case of the Old White Horse Inn I was compelled to make an exception. Our little family (me, my wife, our baby boy and little pooch) made a last minute visit here on Saturday evening on our visit to the area from London. We had actually had a booking with a another pub close by but were only told our booking wasn't valid after we had arrived. It turned out to be a huge stroke of fortune! I could not sing the praises of the Old White Horse Inn any higher. We were made to feel welcome by the staff and locals from the moment we arrived but the staff particularly were amazing. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Dog and child friendly and they even let us park up our motorhome for the night so we could have a few drinks, of which there was a great selection. The food, however, was the icing on the cake. Such a great menu. A good mix of pub classics and less traditional choices and a fantastic array of daily specials. We had the grilled hallumi and lamb kofte startersand the lamb shank and pork belly respectively for our main course. For dessert we chose from the specials board and got a beautiful chocolate mousse and strawberry tiramasu, they were heavenly! I'm certain that we'll make the effort to come back again, despite the distance!

Absolute gem of a Welsh pub. Went up for a day of waterfall walking finished with a Sunday roast here. Customer service 100% we hadn't booked they managed to get us in. Ordered drinks and food within 10mins everything swift efficient friendly and everyone has a smile. Makes me remember why I love coming to Wales! Best Sunday roast I've ever had! Really lovely traditional pub, big log fire, friendly staff, great food. Parking is good and disabled friendly, also dog friendly in the bar area. Food prices are what you would expect bearing in mind the current world issues in late 2022. Absolutely loved it. Update. Went back for lunch on 22nd August 23, and all was as good as we remembered. The roast pork baguette is to die for, and the haloumi fries brilliant. As always, so much fuss was made of our two dogs, and we bought them a doggie sausage each. The staff were uber friendly, and the free doggie treats were flowing. Good value, we thought, and the food was cooked fresh to order, so don't be in a hurry. Have a drink or two and chill. Back again soon I'm sure.

A pub you must go to. The food is excellent, the staff is very nice and friendly. Good music from the 80's when we were there and very nice atmosphère, à typical UK pub. A big thank to the owner who allowed us to stay over night on the pub's parking with our van and offered to use the bathroom the next morning ! Thank you so much. Will definitly go back there if I have the oportunity. 💖💖

Dog friendly but cat also ;) Loved this pub for our stay in Wales so much we traveled 40min each day to have our meal there my ESA cat also loved her scampi and roast chicken they were so welcoming and helpful, the meals were stunning and delicious. Deffinitly our favourite and we will 100% be back thank you so much !!!!

Ok beer, wine, drinks and food but hideously overpriced like the rest of the restaurants in this village (I would not use the word bars or pubs as while you evidently can get drinks here they are largely set up for food). This is essentially in the South Wales Vallys and not central Cardiff (where you expect to pay...and even there choice and competition keeps prices down) or a coastal hot spot (where rip off prices have long been an issue)...but the prices for drinks are amongst the highest I've encountered in Wales. They are evidently pricing for one off tourist's (in-sting-out) which bucks the trend for the surrounding area. All this said...the place seemed pretty popular as were the other two 'restraunts' (Angel Inn and Sgwd Gladwys) but they all have a tied audience and the village was rammed to the gills with folk parked up for hundreds of meters down the road. To be fair, this reveiw applies equally to the other two places in the village and not just this establishment. Generally, this village is a place where hikers can access the falls and is signposted as such from the A465...but if you want a quieter and less 'sanitised' experience, there are plenty of other more genuine places to launch off). While you can get to some local falls by following the crowd...If you do your walking in flip flops, then this is the village for you. (PS...DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO THE FALLS IN FLIP FLOPS OR ANY OTHER INAPPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR...OR OTHERWISE GENERALLY UNPREPARED / INAPPROPRIATELY APPARELLED !!)

A hidden gem. Fantastic food with great service. A really welcoming and friendly place suitable for families.

This was our second time visiting the Old White Horse. The first was a drop in during the week, and we had a lovely bar meal by the fire. Service and welcome were tip top. A more recent visit was on Sunday, 30th July. Again, the welcome and service were fantastic. The food was lovely as expected. On a personal level, I found the seating a little close to other tables, we had a table for 2 located between two other table for 2s, I find it uncomfortable sitting that close that we could hear the conversation on both other tables, table service was fantastic, if anything it was a bit too quick, we were in and out in less than 40 minutes for 3 courses, (all very tasty, especially the crumble) obviously we could have requested more time between courses, so we can't really complain, maybe the staff should start to ask the customers if they are ready for their next course before brining it to the table. It's not a major issue. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends, family, and workmates 👏👍🍻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This place saved the day when a pub closeby cancelled on a booking for 10 on my daughters birthday 30 mins before we were due there yhe food service and fuss they made was above and beyond cant thank them enough be back there very soon try it for yourselves and see thanks again

We popped in here while on our way back from a week in Pembrokeshire, we couldn’t find any other pub that was open and sold food on a Friday afternoon. We were greeted with friendly, happy staff who were helpful with our orders. The food was out of this world, a lamb shank masquerading as a whole leg with mint gravy and mash & and a pork belly that I wished would never end and nearly didn’t finish. It takes a lot to make me full and for these prices you really can’t get better. For pudding we had homemade cheesecakes, Biscoff for me and Nutella for my partner. I really can’t sing the praises of the staff enough, so helpful to cater for 2 non drinkers who had worked up an appetite. We will be back the next time we’re in the area, in fact, even if we’re not we’ll happily detour to try something else from the menu. 5 stars across the board.

Delicious home cooked food and nice country pub atmosphere

A group of 24 diners enjoyed a large selection of meals. The (pre-ordered) main courses were delivered seamlessly thanks to the head -waiter' s organising skills. Everyone ate together, all very happy with the quality of their meals. Would highly recommend.

Just had a wonderful afternoon for my fiancé's birthday, with our two dogs. We all had the loveliest, most friendly welcome and service. It was like going to an old friends house. The dogs were treated like royalty, lots of fuss and cuddles, and given dog biscuits and their own steaks! The food was outstanding. We'll definitely be back soon 😊

A great pub with decent food. Certainly very popular, which does put a strain on service. With a mixture of experience of the waitering staff, things do get missed when busy. Though top effort for friendliness and effort. The food we had was good, not spectacular, but the dining room was incredibly warm for the summer's evening. It can cater for large groups as well as plenty if couples. There is also plenty of seating outside and if you eat early enough you can eat outside before the midges arrive. Found the drinks to be surprisingly high for the location.

Great traditional pub with really lovely friendly staff that made us very welcome. Super dog friendly, my pup loved the dog menu. Best cocktails in Pontneddfechan. Food was delicious but more pricey than the other local bars/restaurants.

To be honest, the pictures online looked amazing and the reason we booked a table. In reality it was amazing, lovely meal with quite literally the largest chicken breast I have ever eaten. Very highly recommended, the waiter we had was both excellent at his job and his secondary tour guide duties. Very highly recommended
