The Old Waggon and Horses 1812 in Wyre Forest

Have to say the experience was something of a mixed bag, but one thing that shone out was the attitude of the barmaid, who was superb. Our initial drinks (beer) were rather cloudy and tended towards sour. The barrel was changed and all was good. On food, I opted for the pie of the day, a boeuf bourginon variant with mash and veg. The veg were roasted and very good, both texture and flavour. The pie was very small and of disproportionate pastry amount. What filling there was, was tasty but did not constitute a main meal portion.

food and service was brilliant, they even gave my two year old some food to feed the animals while we were waiting on our food

We booked the room for a joint 50th/80th party. I liaised with Luke & Tracey regularly and they were always very helpful. I met with Luke to discuss the buffet, and he clearly explained the buffet he could provide and the price. We paid for some additional items as well. The buffet food was fantastic. So much 'homemade', and very fresh. The food was so popular no one wanted to leave any, and we many people took doggy bags home with them. We were allowed to bluetooth our music to the speaker in the room, which was more than sufficient for what we needed. Would thoroughly recommend for parties/events. The bar staff were very friendly, and Carl was very attentive to what we needed during the party. Plenty of parking. Cash or card payment accepted at the bar.

Biggest mistake was walking in place looks like it need a clean tidy up inside tatty had the carvery turkey was raw chef claimed was a good blister veggies raw and very salty meat tough left most of it when complained immediately took both meals of bill

Nice family pub, this place is always busy, play area is great for kids, and animals and bouncy castle are an added bonus. The drinks and food are reasonably priced, arrived in timely manner, and good sized portions. Bar outside in beer garden was open too, very convenient. You can buy animal food for the kids to feed the goats, and on day we went they were doing pony rides. Also had some fancy cars old and new arrive to look around. Will use again

Great customer service alongside some great food (the pork belly and the sausage & mash). Very welcoming and catered for our late walk in. Would definitely visit again!

Was absolutely amazing. Paid for a buffet which was better than we expected. Not sure why I expected anything less woth these reviews, guess I was just nervous about feeding everyone. But none the less, manager and staff pulled out a marvelous spread, thank you so much you gave my nan a special spectacular send off. Would 100% recommend, although I think they all deserve a restful holiday soon as. 😉

Walked in. Nearly £15 for sausage and mash. Then walked out. How can you price potato and sausage at £15. Even Tesco finest only cost £4 for 12 of them. No thanks

Had a bacon batch and a coffee. Good value. The car show/meetup could have benefitted from a little more organisation, but there was quite a variety of vehicles and owners, Overall, a good distraction for a couple of hours

Been here once before and the food was amazing. Decided to go again yesterday and OMG was I shocked. The table where we sat, I looked down and there were slug trails all over the carpet in the eating area. Absolutely disgusting. I couldn’t believe it. It really put me off, as I started to think, what is the kitchen like, if the restaurant area is like this?? My partner mentioned it to one of the waiting staff (very young girl), she didn’t seem too bothered about it and didn’t seem to relay the message, as no one bothered to come up to us with apologies. There is a fire exit door in the sitting area with a massive gap at the bottom, so I am unsure if that is where the slugs are coming in from. But there are trails under the tables, and if they are under the tables then I am sure they are also finding their way onto the tables. Doesn’t take much to clean the carpets if you notice that or to sort the gap in the door out. Im quite shocked they decided to leave it in such state. I won’t be eating there again sadly, until this is resolved. I was really disgusted by it. Such a shame, as the food and menu is great. Given a 1 for atmosphere as it’s been dead in there when I have been. On my first visit with 4 others, a really strange waitress asked to hold my new born baby whilst I eat… I thought that was bizarre to be honest. I will happily remove this review once this has been cleaned up and sorted🤢

Was really impressed with this place. Drove past it loads and decided to pop in for a meal. Was the right choice food was great and plenty to do for kids. There's an outside area with kids play area open field and even some animals. You can feed the goats as well. If the first car park is full don't worry there's plenty parking around the back

I came here for a family meal, this was my first time. The guy who served us was friendly. We sat in the conservatory for our meal. The carpets are quite tatty and the table felt sticky. The carvery was nice, the beef could of been warmer. The turkey was nice and tender. The play area out the back is good for kids, there is a bouncy castle, which you have to pay for. There is also an outdoor bar.

Couldn't wait to Try their carvery as I'd heard it was brilliant. We visited on fathers day. We were seated straight away. Drinks brought to our very sticky table. My glas had lipstick all around the top. Venison was beautiful, beef was very tough. Halfway through eating my meal I found a hair in my Leeks. I did tell them when they collected our plates at the end and was given a discount. Yorkshire puddings were cold and soggy. Great variety of vegetables.

First time eating in this place and will be last time, the food was shocking burgers and Hotdog, the lettuce on the burger was brown the bun was stale along with the hotdogs bun, also the sausage seemed under cooked, a lady infront of me had asked the lady behind the bar what the loaded fries were and the reply was I think curry yeah I'm pretty sure its curry, the lady behind the bar also looked like she didn't want to serve customers. I also went inside the pub to use the toilets and all the paint was coming off the walls and the carpets looked like they have not been cleaned for years, I would stay away from this place

Beer kept well . I had hpa. Pub generally Needs a refurb. Staff welcoming. plenty of people use this pub on a Sunday probably best to book. Calvery was nice with the chef putting his own touches on the veg. Meats were tasty cooked well. Beef a bit fatty. But I guess they didn't farm the cow themselves. 4/5

I am giving 5 stars because my daughter had lots of fun but please invest in a coffee machine. I am driving to get to you so can't drink alcohol. The instant coffee is terrible and you get so many driving parents that the coffee machine is an absolute must.

Visited today. Sat outside. We had children with us and they absolutely loved the outdoor area. It states that it is wheelchair accessible, unfortunately it's not, 3 of us had to lift my mum up and then down 3 steep steps so she could use the toilet, it really put a damper on the day, I made sure to check first that it was wheelchair accessible and it states it is. Think the pub really needs to get a portable ramp so that people in wheelchairs can get to the toilet or state that it isn't wheelchair friendly somewhere.

On the off chance decided to go out and chose the old wagon and horses, glad we did great atmosphere and entertainment was brilliant, food was great

Won’t put on the bouncy castle for my son in the week day. Was going to come up and have drinks and dinner as well. Don’t like going when it’s packed with all sorts on a weekend not my vibe. Shame really.

Really wanted to like this place as been past it many times and finally visited today for a birthday meal. Extremely disappointed. Very limited menu especially for the vegetarian we had in the party, and after being told multiple items weren't available when we ordered they were then available later when other tables ordered. Took over an hour for our food to come out and what we did receive did not make the wait worth it. We could understand the wait as they were very busy but the food was not very good. Any veg on the plates was raw, sweet potato mash was like mush, roast potatoes still rock hard in the middle, under cooked onion rings, overcooked chips and a burnt piece of gammon. Even the carrot sticks on the kids meals had the skin left on which would have been fine had the carrots been clean as they still had dirt on them. To top it off we had a swarm of small flies around the table that had gathered on a mirror behind us, so didn't enjoy having to keep swatting them away from the food. We did inform the waitress when she collected our plates of the issues but she didn't seem surprised as we'd witnessed numerous tables making complaints already. Unfortunately overall will not be returning.

Visited this pub on our way home from Wales. They fitted us in without a booking even though they were busy with a large birthday gathering. The gentleman who served us was lovely and we all really enjoyed our meals, thank you.

Excellent food at a good price. Had a shared 3 rib roast with 3! starters and 3! deserts 😨 The classic car meets once a month are worth going to but be early. Wood burner stove makes it very cosy in the winter months. Management/head chef and staff are all great ! The Calamari starter I had melted in the mouth. The best I have ever had and I have eaten at Michelin Star places !!

We went for a celebratory meal and had a fantastic meal. My husband and I both had the belly pork and it was cooked to perfection! I could have eaten it all over again as it was so delicious. They had a fantastic offer on for the kids meals at £1 with a code and a full paid adult meal. The kids loved their food and said the chicken strips were the best!

I went with a friend to this Wagon & Horses yesterday by chance. WOW! I say Wow as I didn't expect the quality of food to be so amazing, so well presented & so plentiful - & that was just the food. Everything about this place is👌 - staff, ambience, warmth & out & out homeliness with fair pricing. 11 out of 10 - i will be back even though I'm a good 20 miles away!

I go here for the monthly car meet, They have great food friendly staff and great cars.

Visited here today, the food was amazing!!! We brought some home! Our little boy loved the mac n cheese!! Service was wonderful. The chips were the best!!! We can't wait to come back and try the carvery!!

The meat was fantastic everything less so as it was mostly cold, you could hear the chefs potty mouths as they were right next to the makeshift carvery station and it all felt a bit jumbled

Very friendly with excellent service, food was freshly cooked and I couldn't fault it. The pub has been reorganised and smartened and up and is very clean with a good and friendly atmosphere. I went with six of my old work colleagues and we will certainly be returning.

Staff were warm and welcoming despite it being a very busy sunny Saturday. Food was sensational we chose to eat inside then enjoyed the beer garden after. Outdoor bar was very handy. I don’t know another pub in the area that gets as crazy busy as this and it’s a testament to the new management and their hard work turning this place around. We ended up spending 6 hours here enjoying the sun sinking a few ciders The whole team seemed to work tirelessly, I don’t know how they keep up with such high volumes of people and yet food standards and servers smiles don’t seem to slip. From time to time there was a slight delay clearing tables outside but there must be 50 benches and back in my day customers popping your crisp packets in the bin and glasses on the bar on the way out was the done thing. We will be back again this week (and probably again the week after) KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

We ate outside from the hut, was ok nothing special, next time will try inside the pub. Was absolutely disgusted that I was told my ice cream was a double scoop and cost £4 but it was absolutely not!!

The place wasn't very clean we sat in the restaurant. The windowsill was filthy, and tables were extremely sticky, and carpet was filthy also.

Amazing garden for children and families with dogs. Such a great adventure playground which will keep the kids happy for hours.

This place has been recommended so many times for it's outdoor play area and Sunday lunches but we had been yet to try it. We can see why it's so recommended! Great outdoor play area for children, dog friendly. Large outdoor bar. A lot of thought has gone in to what customers want. Also great reasonable prices. We only ordered chips but they were skin on and super tasty. We'll be back again!

Just been her for a carvery and by far more than dissatisfied, watery cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes made weeks in advance soft and mushy, cheap cut if roast beef boiled till its tender really customers out there go to the island pool by far better choice on veg and superior potato's and meat . And cheaper!!!! Cheese board I had for dessert was worth more than the roast and better flavour, I would nit recommend this meal ti anyone nor to friends and family GO TO THE ISLAND POOL INSTEAD better value and fuller flavour food.

Fab carvery. Interesting veg, not the usual peas carrot cabbage. Meat cooked to perfection. Great service and smaller portion for older people. One criticism. Take the tables out and give them a good scrub,they are rather sticky.

Visited for Father’s Day 2023 to enjoy a carvery, would not recommend at all!! We waited for 40 minutes being told that chef had to tell us we could go up to collect the carvery and that we couldn’t Queue like normal carvery's, although no one was waiting. I then went to ask a member of staff if we could eat, she still insisted the chef wasn’t ready, at this point the food was left there covered in flies and no one had been up! My family said we should still stay and wait to eat and omg the food was dry, very cold and just extremely disappointing…awful staff awful place ….

Meal tonight was amazing family mid week treat. Really worth going food fantastic again.

Went for Sunday Lunch+ I have to admit it was wonderful. It was not a carvery that day but to be honest having it plated up+ bought out with delicious roast veg+cauliflower cheese was better. I even learned what BGT was that day too🤣🤣Service was great we will be back.

The food was amazing. Huge outdoor seating area with playground for the children and also Dog friendly. The only negative was that they don't do cocktails, which would be great in the summer months with the outdoor bar. Other than that, 10/10.

Great place, great food! Spent the afternoon here during the bank holiday weekend, lots of things to do for children - great play area. A fantastic selection of burgers/loafers/loaded fries from the bar outside.

I met the owners today, as guests of the restaurant I manage. They were lovely people! So I took my partner and baby for a visit to their pub straight after my shift to have a look. On first glance, the decor and furnishings were a bit worn and dated, but it was clear that the first stages of refurbishment were focused on the right key areas. The toilets and kids play area were new and tidy. You could see people working on the outside areas too, making improvements. The smell coming from the food in the kitchen was incredible as well! The grounds were huge and packed with activities, with great views. The beer was well looked after and tasted great, reasonably priced too. Overall, it’s seems like this pub is on the right path to achieving great things. Definitely somewhere I will keep visiting and enjoy supporting. Can’t wait to try the food!
