What an amazing baby shower afternoon tea. James and his wonderful team cannot do enough for you. From calling to book to experiencing the afternoon today has been flawless. The price is a bargain for such great food. Thank you guys you are amazing. Book your event here you won't regret it.

I have visited the 1911 Café three times now and I do not have a single bad word to say about it! Great food at an affordable price and wonderful team of staff who can’t do enough for you. In addition, the café thoroughly follow the government Covid-19 guidelines which is very assuring when dining in, as well as when taking away. Will certainly be returning for the foreseeable future!

I was recently recommended to come here and I’m so glad I took the advice given! What a fantastic little find! It’s an old hall but felt so warm and friendly. Greeted by a hand sanitising station and menus which was a great start. We had already pre booked so was shown to our table, we decided what we wanted and we were able to text our order through. Within minutes we had our drinks which was great service! The staff are so helpful and extremely welcoming. Breakfast was lovely, me and my Nan really enjoyed it. My son had some toast (lots of high chairs readily available) which he enjoyed too. Will definitely be back, prices were very reasonable. Cakes are on offer but we were full from our breakfasts but will definitely purchase some in the future. We will be back!

It's rare that a business can improve on what was already a beloved brand, however, James and the rest of the staff have obviously put in a lot of effort over ' Lockdown' in order to move the Cafe forward towards what will be a new and improved Community Hub. Hygiene and safety where impeccable on our visit, and the welcome was as warm as ever. The Food was, and still is of a high quality and duly served to the same high standard. There is nothing to criticise in my view. The 1911 Cafe has risen like a phoenix from the flames, and will surely be a success.

First ever visit to this tearoom today and I really enjoyed it. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied with something for everyone. I decided to try the full English breakfast which was very good and great value at £4.00. There is sausage, bacon, fried egg, beans, tomato and toast. I had a cup of tea but was only given a small amount of milk. I would have liked a little more milk but that is being picky. I would definitely recommend this tearoom to anyone.

Well...what can I say? If you enjoy a drink and a slice of scrumptious cake or a tasty lunch in a most charming place, this is for you. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the service is superb. There's also an Edwardian themed room which can be hired for afternoon tea. The furniture, fittings etc are all genuine Edwardian, and "tea room" music plays softly in the background. In another room there's a display of very good craft work that can be purchased. I could go on.

I took my mom here for afternoon tea for her birthday and we both really enjoyed it. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was very quiet. We had just the right amount of food with as much tea and coffee that we wanted. Room was lovely with lots of old photos and ornaments to look at. Staff very friendly.

A pleasurable afternoon tea. Nice setting. China crockery. Staff friendly. Finger sandwiches fresh and tastie and not over fancy which is what I prefer. Selection of ham, cheese and onion, cream cheese and tuna mayo. Cake selection of - scones , Victoria sponge, neringue nests and macaroons. Not a great deal of choice but scone jam and cream very filling. Worth a visit for a nice quiet afternoon tea.

Based on the reviews, we expected a nice lunch here. We ordered a chicken in lemon mayonnaise baguette and a Spanish omelette with salad from the specials board, a luxury hot chocolate and an orange juice. The hot chocolate was very disappointing, the cream, marshmallows and chocolate shavings on top looked and tasted good, but the actual drink was watery tasting and not very chocolatey at all. When the food came, more disappointment followed. There was hardly any chicken filling on the baguette and it wasn't crusty as expected. The chicken was tasty but not enough of it. The spanish omelette was even worse. It seemed reheated instead of freshly cooked. There was only potato in it, was expecting more - maybe pepper, onion, mushroom, herbs?? It was bland and tasteless.Overall disappointed. We didn't have cake or scones which most people seemed to rate positively but based on this visit I don't think we'll be back.

Having seen previous reviews, we were looking forward to afternoon tea at the Old School Tea Rooms in Essington despite it being nearly an hour away. The afternoon tea consisted of mini finger sandwiches (tuna, egg, cheese & onion, ham & cheese), mini chocolate eclairs, fruit scone (with cream and jam) and slices of Victoria sponge and coffee cake. It was served in the Edwardian Parlour which was quite nice.

I'd been meaning to see what the tea rooms were like and went today.I had tea (in a pot with china cup and saucer) and a piece of really tasty carrot cake, daughter had cappuccino and a tuna melt pannini which she had had before. Total cost was £7 which I thought was good value, there was a choice of light bites and cakes, which all looked homemade. When we had finished we looked around the craft room which was very good with reasonable prices. There is also a separate room where you can have afternoon tea. This is well worth a visit either with friends or on your own and I'll certainly go again.

Afternoon tea in the genteel Victorian parlour is to be recommended! We arrived to find the table beautifully laid with mis-matched china and 'proper' linen serviettes. There were crustless sandwiches with four fillings, scones with jam and cream and a good selection of home made cakes. We drank copious amounts of tea and coffee and the pots were re-filled as we needed it.

We only recently found this tearoom and booked it for an 85th birthday tea. What a great place we have found. It is in the old school room opposite the primary school in Essington village. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and could not help us enough. After a very short wait we were taken to one of the old school rooms, which was very tastefully decorated. The food was already laid out and there is a great selection for the afternoon tea. We have had several of these, some of which have been overpriced and disappointing. That is definitely not the case here! There was no rush to eat our meal and we had regular top-ups of tea and coffee. I would advise booking in advance, it won't be long before it is fully booked permanently. There is also an excellent craft shop inside the building, which is well worth a look.

What a lovely day ! Thank you to all the staff for looking after us. I have a dairy intolerance and today I was able to have afternoon tea with scones and cream. After speaking to James when making the booking I explained what I could and couldn't eat , James reassured me that I would have the full afternoon tea experience and that is just what I got. When we got there the tables were laid beautifully and all my food was clearly labelled and separate so there was no chance of mixing it up. It was a fantastic experience we were well looked after and spoilt with all the different sandwiches and cakes on offer. We didn't eat them all but we were able to wrap them up and bring them home where we finished them later in the day. Thank you all for your hard work, excellent service and attention to detail. Definitely be back for another visits .

I visited the tea rooms with my wife, daughter, sister-in-law & niece and was incredibly impressed with the whole experience. After taking a seat in the front of the cafe we were then escorted through by Denise (who was a fabulous host) to a beautiful, vintage room where we were treated to fantastic sandwiches, cakes and as many pots of tea as we could manage. Two hours we sat, drank, talked, laughed and ate...wonderful! We will definately return.

This was my primary school from 1958 till 1961. It closed circa 1986, and since then has been used for various things. 18 months ago it was turned into a village tearoom. The quality of service, food, and value has seen it boom. It is now in the 3rd phase of expansion. A drink, snack, lunch or high tea, can't be beaten.
