Freshly cooked food. Really tasty and well presented. The starters are like as big as a main meal, if not bigger than some places. Main meals are also big. Ideal if you have a big appetite. Everything is reasonably priced too. Friendly atmosphere and excellent service.

The food was great and the amount of food for a Sunday lunch was fantastic. We'll be going again.

We popped in for Sunday dinner. I had lamb, and my partner had beef both beautifully cooked, but you have to book a table as it gets very busy. 🙂

Nice pub hidden out the way popped in for drinks only but the food looked nice and it was very busy considering it's location will definitely be visiting again soon

We love this pub, the staff are lovely, the food is amazing and very reasonably priced. Even better, is that they allow dogs in certain areas so we recently took our puppy for his first meal (they have a doggy menu!!l)

We made a last minute decision to go for food here on our way home. We picked based on the Google reviews and location. We were not disappointed! Luckily they had a table for us, but our advice would be to book in advance as it's very popular. This is a lovely little place with the most amazing home cooked food and the team who served us were fantastic. Will definitely visit again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely brilliant what a place to go for home made food proper food and plenty of it the staff are very friendly and polite the food is absolutely amazing the fish (battered) is the biggest I have ever seen served .my friend said that it was 100percent to die for.. the 2times we have been has been amazing.just a pity it's not closer to where we live but I would definitely recommend to book as it's a busy pub and rightly so.thanks to all the staff and definitely see you soon 👍👏

The vegetarian options are great! So many places just do something crap with a mushroom. Not here! The menu has been carefully thought out and dietary requirements are well catered for with lovely “proper” pub grub feels.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner earlier this week at the Dog & Partridge. Great menu (lots of vegetarian options too) and excellent service [10/10] from Libby and Amy. We enjoyed great service and the ambience.

Turned up on spec on a wet midweek day thinking it would be quiet. Main area was fully booked but was offered table in garden room. All of the staff are extremely pleasant and efficient, a credit to your pub. Good selection of cask ales and kept really well. Food was excellent. This was our first visit, it won't be the last, need to work through the extensive menu and try a few more ales.

Wonderful homemade food and fantastic service .

Sept. '24. We were last here about 30 yrs ago. (!) Before they did food. Now a very popular & friendly gastropub, and despite us not booking, and they being busy, they accommodated us on one of the tables in the bar. We decided to keep it simple, and we both had the giant Yorkshire pud with sausages, mash, peas, carrots & gravy. Proper plateful of food, which compared favourably with one I had in Barnsley many years ago. We'll be trying the steaks on the next visit. Drinks not the cheapest, but still worth the visit. About £59 including the drinks. PREBOOKING RECOMMENDED.

Just our local when we're on the canal friendly service nice for a quiet pint

Having read the reviews thought this would be an ideal place for my family to eat on my partner's birthday . Unfortunately this wasn't the case at all! Our family outing consisted of 6 adults and 2 children and 5 of the adults meals were woefully way below standards lumpy mash , incorrectly cooked steaks undercooked chips & onion rings ( soggy and greasy) total lack of seasoning in any of the 5 meals mentioned it really was a total let down. So very disappointed and rather than create a fuss when my partner was already upset we just paid the bill and left.

Only been once before but the wife hadn't so Saturday decided to give them call on the off chance of getting a table .We were lucky and both I and my better half throughly enjoyed how meal .Looking forward to going again,food top notch large choice on menu at a great price and service second to non .

Overall a solid experience, lovely staff and a quiet atmosphere, food was great and looked homemade.

Friendly atmosphere, food great,service brill, good vibes, local pub, but welcomed visitors , really recommend, lovely open log fires in cold weather, and covered outside seating for nicer days

First time going here, was looking for somewhere to take our XL bully and the staff were more than welcome to accept her, sat outside and ordered food, was surprised on how good the food was for such a cheap price. Absolutely amazing

Went for a drink and a bite to eat after a long hard day of work on a Saturday and wasn’t in the best of moods, there was 1 staff member in particular called Laura Wells that brightened my evening and brought my morale up, constantly smiling, chatty, great customer service, a real shining star, I will be back again

lovely Sunday lunch, very large portions, reasonably priced, staff very friendly. young person bringing our desserts was very confused, but was trying very hard ( the sponge puddings with custard do all look the same) and when it was sorted they were worth the wait - will definitely go again. Also, have a dog menu and a dog sunday lunch - highly recommended

Recommended when I asked for somewhere that served real home cooked food and not chain pub grub I was not disappointed! A good friendly welcome and even though I hadn’t booked I was quickly found a table. The menu was almost too good to be true in that there was such a good choice I struggled to make my mind up . Prawn starter followed by Liver & Onions with mash & veg was perfect ! Served without delay and delicious, great value for money and a pleasant atmosphere thrown in , wonderful !

This is a great pub to meet up with friends. I am part of a men's group that gather there every month. There are normally about 10 of us and they can always accommodate us. The food is excellent and brought to us hot and appetising. Laura always looks after us and she is a fabulous hostess, always ready to have a laugh and a joke. And nothing is ever too much trouble. If you want to meet friends and have good pub food then the Dog & Partridge is hard to beat ... book a table as it is not just popular with me.

Probably the best hunters chicken I have ever had! All the food that came out looked amazing - plenty of food also so great value!

Went today for Sunday dinner and it was absolutely beautiful. The service from staff in there was amazing, our server Natalie was brilliant, always checking we were ok and if we needed anything. Would highly recommend and we'll be going back there very soon

Me & my partner always pass but never been in, so on this occasion we popped in for a quick bite to eat, lovely pub,nice and clean, we ordered a bowl of chips, onion rings,& mushrooms, we sat outside in the garden, the food came, it was served in a tinfoil tray which was swimming in oil, we will never eat there again. Sorry for the review.

Very unfriendly about parking. Suspect I was deliberately semi blocked in to make things difficult . Sort of place where you get stared at on entering if you aren't a regular/local . Was going to stop and have a drink at the end of my walk. Didn't bother collected car and went elsewhere. If fact all of the group I was with did .

Very unfriendly and arrogant staff. Not welcoming at all, seem to only be interested in their regular diners. We were going to stay for a drink and possibly a meal, but turned around and came straight out.

As a non drinker of alcohol I was delighted when they were able to serve an alcohol free draught beer. Food this lunchtime was excellent both quality and value. Today's food and service were excellent better than my previous experience. Been calling in occasionally the food is excellent just had a great steak and very impressed with the gluten free choicesYet again I booked a party of 10 everyone was delighted with the quality of the food, service and beer.

Went here this event with my daughter, to which we were greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome. After ordering drinks, I went for the beef brisket and my daughter had chicken dippers, both came with home made chips. I also purchased cheesy garlic bread and the best onion rings I’ve had for a long time. The beef brisket was lovely and tender and lay on a bed on onions and mushrooms in a tasty gravy. I’d highly recommend it! The service was also very good, felt welcomed and nothing appeared to be too much to do for you. Thank you ladies! My daughter also befriended the owners daughters daughter, to which they played and had company for one and other. Nothing to do with the pub and service, but shows the welcoming feeling. I’d defo recommend the food here, we will be back and back with more members of my family and friends. A huge thanks to all the staff and the little lady, who made my daughters night, hope you liked your chocolates. 😊

No wonder its always busy!!! Place is the best i think I've been to in england. Ladies behind bar and waiting was exceptional. The food is honestly the best homemade ever .....(as good as my mums) A fantastic place and i realise why they have such a high reputation Thank you

Had a lovely Sunday dinner and there was plenty of it. Not a carvery but there was on the plate. Real value for your money for a two course meal.

With a group of friends, we decided to travel a little further to try out The Dog & Partridge. What a worthwhile trip, the food was so delicious, the service excellent and a little snug area made the atmosphere perfect.

Met up with family at a mid point ,we came from Lancaster,rest of family from Putney...brought the dog with us and walked into a good old fashioned style local....brilliant service,brilliant food,friendly locals and our pup made a new friend who came treat laden...if we meet up again mid point you will be our go to lunch stop-off. Thank you for an unforgettable stop off point.Hope to return in the Summer

Been past this place many times and always promised ourselves we'd go in. We'll definitely be going back. We both had a pie with pastry top. Steak & ale and steak & kidney. A wide variety of sides are offered, veg, chips, salad and you can even pick whether you want a pastry or mash topping. They don't just do pies. The menu offers a range of pub classics and if they're anything like what we had they will all be top top quality. The staff were excellent, the service was as good. It's sort of hidden away but it's definitely worth a visit. Next time I'll be getting a taxi so I can sample one the ales they offer. Very glad we've been. It won't be the last time.
