Our daughter and son in law took us there as part of our Christmas present. I can honestly say it was one of the finest, if not the finest meal I have had. This was also the opinion of the other three. It was in a very relaxed atmosphere and we shall certainly revisit. We all chose the taster menu and We would highly recommend it.

We stayed for two nights with friends and couldn’t rate it highly enough. The food was all brilliant, from the welcome tea and cake to the fabulous dinner. Between us we must have tried everything on the menu and it was all great. The rooms were comfortable and our dog was welcomed by the friendly owners. The walks direct from the door are beautiful, no need to drive once you are there.

We decided to stop halfway from Wales to Penzance due to worries regarding the rail strike causing traffic delays. We are so glad we stayed there as Anthea and Duncan the chef were so friendly and welcoming Duncan used to be the chef at Gidleigh Park and it shows as the meal was splendid and the rural setting made for a peaceful and enjoyable stop over .Would thoroughly recommend.

Staying locally we were delighted to get a table at the Old Inn for dinner. Lovely to linger in front of the fire before dinner. Food was fantastic and exceeded expectations. Very happy with covid precautions. Would have liked to know more about the dishes and engagement with our hosts. Was a special evening, thank you.

This guy must be the best chef in Devon. And probably much further afield. The taster menu was too good to resist and absolutely lived up to our expectations. Each course was superb, beautifully balanced and the passion fruit soufflé was sublime. We were very well looked after, the timings were spot on - no rush, no hassle and no long waits between courses. In a very relaxing, understated restaurant we had food that deserves a Michelin star. Book a table if you possibly can.

This restaurant isn’t vegetarian friendly. We read the trip advisor page and it twice says vegetarian friendly. They serve foie gras so they are NOT vegetarian friendly. Beware.

The good. The restaurant is in the very small village of Drewsteighton. It is exactly what it says on the tin, a lovely little inn. It is run by a couple who operate both the cooking and servicing within the establishment. We had the degustation menu and the food was very good. The bad (although to be fair, it wasn’t that bad) The restaurant is split into two dining areas. We were seated early which meant at the beginning the service was very attentive, once other guests arrived into the secondary area, we struggled with getting served additional drinks, as the lady was juggling the two areas. The ugly. Whether it be Brexit or Covid, everybody appears to have a strong opinion on where they stand. Our visit was during “lockdown” and there was zero attempt to implement guidelines as set out by the government. No face masks were worn by either staff, no details taken and no attempt to “tap in” to track and trace. All of which was done with ease, at every other establishment we visited. I don’t care about what you do or don’t think about Covid, your priority should be the safety of your guests. There were clear government rules in place and you chose to ignore them. Perhaps you have the same opinion on general hygiene, I don’t know. We left Australia in March 2020 to look after my wife’s elderly parents in the UK. We have followed the rules and at every turn tried to minimise our exposure to Covid for the fear of passing it to others. Your actions are a disgrace and you deserve to be fined or shut down.

We had a fabulous dinner at the Old Inn. The food was exceptional at every course. There is a lot of skill coming from Duncan’s kitchen with some superbly balanced flavours and well-sourced ingredients. Each course brought new surprises with highlights including a fabulous starter of scallops and caramelised endive, a delicate turbot and beurre blanc and we certainly bought into a well-executed (and moreish) rhubarb souffle with raspberry sauce. The wine list has much to offer and the setting is very relaxed with host Anthea striking the right balance between knowledge, attentiveness and a dry sense of humour. They clearly care about their food, wine and the customer experience - we will be back!

We had the most amazing meal last night at the Old Inn. The food was fantastic - every course on the set menu was delicious. We honestly loved every mouthful. The welcome was warm, the hostess was lovely, the wine was perfect with all our courses, and the quality of cooking was like a Michelin-starred restaurant. We would highly recommend it and will definitely return. First proper meal out anywhere since lockdown and it lived up to everything I had hoped for and missed!

What a lovely surprise and enjoyable visit! Duncan and Anthea made this is an unforgettable stay and experience. The room was adorable, the location was fantastic for the walks we did in Dartmoor, and the food was almost too good to explain. We enjoyed the cozy and friendly environment. Fellow foodies - add this to your list of must-do places to visit and dine. As other reviewers have stated, the Michelin recommendation was spot on!!! And, lest I forget, Anthea made me one of the best Gin and Tonics I have had - thank you both for a lovely treat.

Stayed for two nights at the Old Inn and were not disappointed. Duncan’s food is fantastic and Anthea looked after us beautifully front of house. We enjoyed the new 5 course tasting menu sensibly priced the same as the 3 course menu. This is fine cooking in a comfortable and relaxed setting. We can also thoroughly recommend Duncan’s breakfasts and afternoon tea. We will be back.

This was our first visit to the Old Inn after a friend's recommendation. What a find. This was a whole new dining experience from the warm welcome which felt as though we had stepped into someone's beautiful front room. We enjoyed a drink in the lounge while perusing the menu and wine list. The chef came out with the most wonderful canapés and the owners were friendly and welcoming. There are two dining rooms – booking is essential as there are only a small number of tables. What a relaxing, calming experience dining here is. And the food.....I enjoyed Iberico Pork with Parmesan after some fabulous home made breads, and my husband had delicious scallops. I then had the most delicious fillet of beef and my husband the sea bass. The blackcurrant and chocolate soufflé was out of this world and we then enjoyed a delightful cheeseboard and coffee. I would highly recommend a visit to this delightful little restaurant. There are also three rooms should you wish to stay over. Thank you both for a fantastic evening – we will be back!

The tiny hamlet of Drewsteignton nestled on the north side of Dartmoor and reached easily off the A30, that said it’s a rural idyll, and close to further attractions like castle drogo ( must see for NT members ), and go and see the sculpture garden just up the lane. Now to the Inn - well Anthea and Duncan can’t be faulted, the warm welcome, the impeccable service, and the sublime cuisine. You’re here for the tastebuds to be teased, and there’s no disappointment. He is a great technician and designer of his dishes and you’re spending good money for that artistry. It’s a small place, so book well ahead to bag a room, but then sit back, relax, and enjoy.
