I am not a person who likes complaining nor believes in writing anything negative, but today I saw red. I took my elderly mother out for a relaxing lunch to this pub we and the rest of our family have visited many times before. We both chose the 'special' of calves liver and bacon, creamy mashed potatoes, peas and gravy. A simple dish to get right, you would think and a dish I have cooked many times, albeit with lamb's liver. Sadly, the liver was tasteless, overcooked, gristly with the outer skin left on and quite tough. The potato was mashed but not creamy. The peas were undercooked and had been left out to go wrinkly and unappetising. And the gravy was lumpy and anaemic-looking. Ugh! My mother and I both found the liver quite difficult to cut - not what you would expect from tender, skinned liver. And finding gristle is very offputting, don't you think? I complained discreetly at the bar and our plates were removed. Quite a few minutes later, the waiter returned to report that our food had been tasted by three chefs, no less, and was deemed to be perfectly alright. That has to say something about their standards. They agreed to replace one meal but not both which I found unacceptable, but I ordered a small fish and chips for my mother to keep her from going hungry - even those chips were under par - just like chunky oven chips you buy in the supermarket and not freshly made. The manager eventually - after at least half an hour of keeping us waiting - turned up to repeat the offer and to say that they did not agree that the meal was sub-standard and that nobody else had complained. I was so angry that I did not order another meal for myself and went hungry! I did not want to cause a scene and they were not in the least bothered that we would not go back to this pub again because, of course, they have plenty of satisfied customers. Have they got new chefs, I wonder? That food was nothing like I have had in the past. Bad attitude. No apologies. No-one ever apologises any more or takes responsibility for low standards, no customer loyalty. Just excuses and 'take it or leave it, madam'. Deeply disappointed. Spoiled our day.

A great combination of top Thai food, and beers/gin. Normally has 3 plus ales on and Gin specials. Food is well good. Also does take aways - have a beer whilst you wait.

Tried pub out on recent weekend stay at nearby White Hart. Most expensive of the four pubs in the village for drinks - £3 more for exactly the same two drinks as we had in the Greyhound. However food made up for it - some of the best Thai I have had. Service was good - in fact the only minor criticism is the fact that we felt we were being closely watched by staff to point where my dish was removed before my wife had finished hers. That said - would certainly return and would certainly recommend.

Appears to be a solid local favourite but also welcoming to those visiting for the first time. The Thai food is fantastic and has a great selection on the menu. Will definitely come back. If thinking of travelling to give it a try then I’d highly recommend also.

This was a very disappointing experience as the lamb shank they served up was still frozen. There was no apology just some mumbling about why this may have happened and an offer to bring out another portion that was fully cooked. No thank you!

Staff ensure that you check in on the NHS app or give them your details on arrival. All food and drink orders taken at your table of less than 6 and then delivered to you. A marquee or a lovely covered outdoor area has heaters where you can receive your choice of real ale or weekly changing cocktail- the Aperil Spritz was popular and good value. Other drinks available! The Thai food is fantastic and good value and the menu is extensive. Generally a locals pub but very friendly.

We had eaten at this pub/ restaurant and enjoyed the meal. Decided to try a takeaway. It arrived late and missing the rice and mixed starter. Rang and was told they will send it out. Said don’t bother as eating the rest now. Told discount next time. Ordered again, told an hour. After an hour and half, giving directions, we gave up and rang to cancel. The girl on the phone told me it was my fault for poor directions and she could not do a refund. Common as muck and no customer communication skills. I am a public school boy bought up on a council estate, so when I say common, I know what I am talking about. Won’t be using again, which is a shame, as the food is fine

Really lovely authentic food from The Old House at Home. Initially when we arrived we were a little surprised to see it was a pub, but the food did not disappoint. Been here a few times, food is always good and they have adjusted to the covid issues well, best thai food in the area.Always a bit strange when you walk in to a proper village pub and then go through to the restaurant part which has interesting decor but the food makes up for it.Friendly waitress who will make recommendations if they run out or if you a regular which should always be followed from my experience.Sometimes can get a bit loud if there is sport on as the pub shows it so just consider what is on (post covid) if you want a quiet meal

We live in the village and had always been rather curious about the old house at home...normally in my experience pub come restaurant that does non pub food can be rather hit and miss.Fear not...once inside you’ll find a very jovial pub with corresponding locals which happens to have a fabulous Thai restaurant.Thai food is one of our favourites and so we have a reasonable ability to compare and I would say this is certainly up there with the best. The food actually has the right amount of spice and heat that it should without being over powering. The staff are lovely and very welcoming and seem to really care that you are happy and want to make you come back. All in all 5* experience.P.s I think if you book it helps them as it’s not the biggest restaurant.

Then we had our mains, Thai green chicken curry and the duck red curry. Couldn’t fault the food it was all fresh and beautiful. I generally visit this village pub every week for a drink with by bell ringing pals. I have always found it to be a very pleasant place to spend time with a friendly landlord and often some interesting beers on tap. I have witnessed the lovely Thai food emerging from the kitchen many times so was pleased when it was suggested we eat here after our recent ringing outing. The menu was full of nice looking dishes; I went for something familiar; Thai Green Curry and my husband had Chicken Massaman - we shared battered Calamari to start. The food was well cooked and tasted good. I haven't had too many Thai meals over the years so don't have too much to compare to, but this little restaurant in our local boozer seems to be very popular and I can see why. We really enjoyed our meal and our evening.

We stayed one night while visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery five minutes (by bus) down the road. The rooms are £45 a night with a DIY breakfast of cereal, milk and bread and a toaster left in your room. The room is fine and what you'd expect for the money, if a bit noisy at the front. There is a shared bathroom with another room, so you may have to wait your turn for a shower etc. The bar serves five nicely kept real ales, and Singha beer on tap to accompany the Thai food which is served in the dining room. The Thai food is pretty decent and there's plenty of choice. Nice friendly staff.

The food was outstanding, beautifully presented and the service was ok. Just a little confusing at times, do we order more drinks at the bar or wait? They had a pub quiz on, so it was very busy and maybe the bar staff would normally be keeping an eye out for empty glasses more regularly. Thai is one of our favourite foods to cook/eat and after hearing good reviews about this place we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The Thai restaurant is in the conservatory area so has a limited number of covers about 20, we didn't book but were able to get a table as we went early evening however during our meal other tables stared to fill up so might be worth booking if you are a party of four or more.We had the mixed starters which were served beautifully and tasted great, the fishcakes were some of the best we have had light and fluffy, both accompanying sauces were good and quite possibly homemade. We then gad two of our favourites duck in tamarind sauce and red duck curry both were excellent with great traditional flavours. The tamarind sauce was sweeter than we have had in other places but not overly sweet the duck was cooked well and the dish came on a bed of fried vermicelli noodles which whilst adding a crunch texture was really not needed but given a lot of the sauce was on them we both ate them, next time we go back I may ask if they would mind not doing these. The curry was very good smooth think sauce that was full of flavour and plenty of duck and vegetables in the sauce. The rice comed already turned out on your plate in a dome, which is fine although I do prefer the rice served separately in a bowl so you can take as much as you want throughout the meal but this is personal preference. The staff were friendly and helpful without bring intrusive. All in all very good Thai restaurant and we will certainly be back there soon.

Staff are friendly and happy if you want to eat Thai food in the main bar so no rule or regulations just happy and accommodating.

OK. Let's not pull any punches. It doesn't look great from outside. Just a normal old fashioned village pub. Nothing to suggest what delights are on the menu. My husband and I were out for lunch to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and entered the pub with quiet anticipation as we had already checked a few reviews and almost all were raving about the place. The sight before us was a small group of elderly patrons watching the footy. And that was all. Not a great advert for a Saturday lunchtime but asked at the bar if they were still doing food. Now I should mention here that it's not your usual pub grub, but rather a more eastern flavour!! Thai food. But oh my goodness what fantastic Thai food. The lady that took our order was the chef too .... and it was incredible. I would definitely recommend this place. I won't go into what food we ordered because that would be unnecessary. Go find out for yourself!!! We are definitely going back!!!!! I just hope it never changes..... its a very eclectic mix of styles - old pub/Thai restaurant but by golly it doesn't matter! It worked!

Really nice restaurant - cosy atmosphere and friendly people who work there. It's great to get a delicious, authentic-tasting Thai curry with a proper pint from the pub. Sometimes the lamps on the side shine into your eyes, but they're pretty good about switching them off when asked! Overall, highly recommend.

As big fans of Thai food we were keen to try this restaurant so dropped in our way back from the nearby Bombay Sapphire Distillery. From the outside it looks inauspicious and the fact that we had to take my 10 year old daughter through the public bar to get to the restaurant provides an illustration. At 1400 on a Saturday the restaurant was empty which meant that we got served rapidly by the friendly waitress. The usual Thai specialities were available and my tempura prawn starter was very good. My daughter's chicken was good, though the satay sauce was perhaps not the best. As for the main, there was plenty of chicken in my mussaman and the waitress was good enough to pack my daughter's leftovers so that she could enjoy the remainders the next day.

I have used the take-away service here several times and it is always very tasty. The pub atmosphere, and a small glass of something, make the wait pleasant. I'd happily come back and dine here circumstances permitting. A super and unexpected find.

If Carlsberg made a resturaunt this would be it. Simple warm friendly pub, open fireplace, great beers. But that is nothing compared to the food. Been to Thailand several times to stay with friends so have experience proper Thai food.....this is right up.....simply excellent!!!!!?

This tucked away pub is not much to look at from the outside, but go in and you are in for a real treat. We have been there a number of times and the Thai food has been outstanding every time. A very minor gripe is the service can be a little slow when the little resteraunt is full, but the food is so good I don't mind. The mixed starters are amazing and the set meals are great value.

A typical english red brick pub with a pleasant small restaurant grafted on. We were very warmly greeted and reminded they only did Thai food, Delicious nibbles were provided and we chose a set menu for 2. All the dishes were immaculately prepared, a highlight was two beautiful liliescarved from a carrot! showing care and commitment. All were delicious and very generous.Whilst we would not want this diet on a regular basis it made a very pleasant change and we will go again. The chef and the person who served obviously cared about their food and service.

Rarely have I been quite so disappointed with a meal out ! Friends had recommended this place, and from their description I was a little surprised at the Jekyll & Hyde-ness of the place... imagine a proper olde worlde spit & sawdust pub, with a monster nicely decorated conservatory tagged on at the back. The pub landlord was a lovely welcoming, jovial kind of chap, but the good times ended there. The waitress spilled beer over one of our group and even when it was pointed out what she was doing, still took a few seconds to stop!!, then did EXACTLY the same thing half an hour later - same beer - same sleeve!!!Then when the main courses arrived, seven came pretty much together, but the last one didn't arrive for about another 10 minutes!! Fortunately I' d agreed to share my main with my daughter, but if I hadn't, she would have been sat without food / all ours would have been cold while we waited!! ... INEXCUSABLE (in my opinion). As a diner you always have the ultimate sanction - so no tip was left, I shall not be returning & I would recommend you don't either (although I can see I am in a minority of ONE here on TA!!).I do have to say that the food, when it came, was very good - better than I had expected given the strange setting.

We have now visited here for Thai food two weeks running and both times been very impressed. The menu is comprehensive and cooked very well. It appears that the lady in charge is both cooking and serving and so does a fantastic job. The food was much better than most other Thai places I have tried - including some rather expensive central London boutique places. Will certainly return.

First time visit to this restaurant which was recommended to us. Very friendly welcome from the Landlord and waitress. The menu contained the usual Thai dishes as well as some interesting options that I had not encountered before. The food was excellent, with very fresh flavours it tasted authentic. Portions were generous and the service was prompt.. Will be returning.
